For Birth Control "This is the second type of birth control pill that I've been testing out. The first one that I was on gave me severe headaches practically every day. Luckily, with Aviane, my headaches are gone. This is my 3rd month on Aviane, and it's been okay. I've been having breakthrough bleeding and a few pimples here and there whenever I am about to start my period. Also, whenever I am about to start my period, I get depressed, and I get really bad cramps. I am most likely going to switch to a different pill. Hopefully, I find one that's right for me."

For Birth Control "I started taking Aviane in 2019. Was on it for over 2 years, and I loved it! Light and short periods, no weight gain, no constipation, no mood swings, always had a high sex drive. I lost weight while taking this, but it was due to working out and dieting. What I did notice was that the pill didn't increase my water retention, so I was not bloated and was therefore able to see results. I got switched to Larissia for 3 months, and it is awful. I am ALWAYS hungry now, I have never had acne, and now I have been seeing more frequent zits, and I was horribly constipated the entire time I used them. I still maintain the same workout regimen that I did when I used Aviane, but I continue to gain weight. I requested to get Aviane back, and I could not be happier. I know everyone's body is different, but to the friends that I have recommended this BC to, they have all loved it! Also, no pregnancy scares or pregnancies here with either of the two pills."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for over a year now. At first, it was great; normalized period and seemingly leveled hormones. After being on it for this long, however, I've noticed that it's given me the worst acne ever. I'm talking full-on breakouts-worse than during puberty. I'm terrified that it's gotten so bad that it'll start scarring soon. My period also now comes twice a month for 3-4 days at a time and is never regular. I don't really recommend this; I suppose everyone is different, but the reason I started Aviane is due to my extremely high estrogen levels. Hopefully, I can find a BC soon that works!"

For Birth Control "I took Aviane for almost two years before switching to Mirena (which I love, by the way). I never had sex without a condom while on this BC, but it seemed to do its job. I never got pregnant. I did, however, regularly experience the withdrawal bleeding (a 'period') consistently a few days before the placebos began every month, but it was predictable, so I didn't mind. I took the pill at the exact time every day. I just don't think the hormones were quite strong enough to hold back my bleeding. Basically, Aviane worked alright for me, although I did notice some minor but more frequent bouts of depressive episodes that were very short while on this BC. I had a lot less acne while on Aviane, but small flare-ups a day or two before my period."

For Birth Control "This is the only birth control that I've tried, but so far I've been tolerating it fine. I'm almost finished my second pack, and I haven't experienced any spotting or mood swings that anyone else has mentioned. My acne has gotten worse though... I usually only get one or two pimples, but now I have acne around my hairline, my nose, chin, and chest. I'm going to stick it out for a few more months to see how it goes; I've been using 5% benzoyl peroxide cream to help with the acne problem. I noticed that I had next to no cramping, and my period was only 4 days when it usually lasted a week before. Overall, I'm pleased with this birth control, but if the acne persists, I may try switching."

For Birth Control "Update: I made a comment on here in November, 2 months after taking Aviane, and it was good, but now I’m on month 5 and I do not like it. I am constantly spotting and having breakthrough bleeding after my first week of active pills, and it lasts all the way 'til the first week of my next pack. I had terrible acne last month, which I never had before this pill. My moods are always changing, and I get mad super easily. I would be able to deal with it if I wasn’t constantly spotting and bleeding randomly, but I’m going to switch because it’s driving me crazy."

For Birth Control "I started taking Aviane when I was 16 1/2, and I've been on it ever since. I'm now 21 and about to discontinue my use of Aviane. It caused me to be emotional almost all the time. I have very little patience, mood swings, I gained weight, it's tough to lose weight, I have constant headaches, and my acne is horrible to the point of scarring. Since I was taking this birth control through the toughest of teenage years, I just thought this was who I became. But after doing research and finding this website, I now know I'm not the only one who has suffered through taking Aviane. It did its job with preventing pregnancy, but didn't help with my heavy period and painful cramps. I'm finishing my current pack, and it'll be my last."

For Birth Control "I am heading into my 7th pack of Aviane, and I have nothing but good things to say. No bad side effects that I have noticed so far-only good things like clearing up a little bit of acne I had. Additionally, it does its job as a contraceptive. The first three months, I did break out on my chin, but by now that has reversed, and my skin has gotten much better. Very happy my doctor prescribed this for me-plus my insurance covers it, so needless to say, I have no plans of changing from this birth control any time soon."

For Birth Control "I started on Aviane when I was 15. It's got the job done with making sure I don't get pregnant. But all other aspects of it are completely horrible. It makes me way more irritable, I gained 30 pounds (and I'm a healthy person, I always watch what I eat and exercise). My acne is worse, I'm moody, emotional, and more sad. It literally makes me crazy. I'm a totally different person on it. I am now 24, and I am stopping it this month. I would never go on it again. But now I am at a loss of what to do because I don't want to get pregnant. I'm thinking of getting the nonhormonal copper IUD, but I'm not sure. Any advice would be welcome. But do not take this drug."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 8 months, and it's the only birth control I've ever taken. Overall, it has been a positive experience. I had breakthrough bleeding the first month I was on it, but it stopped after that. I did not experience any weight gain or change in the length of my period, cramps, etc. I do get more acne on my face during my period now than I did before, though, and mood swings during week 3 can be extreme: crying for no reason, feeling anxious/overwhelmed, getting unreasonably angry and upset. After experiencing this several months in a row, I'm now often able to take a step back and say to myself, 'Okay, it's week 3, this is the pill, not you,' but it's something potential users should be prepared for."

For Birth Control "I had a horrible experience with this pill. I've never had trouble with my weight, but I gained 20 lbs once I started taking this. Terrible, uncontrollable acne. Would always have breakthrough bleeding. Ruined my sex drive. My breasts did increase from a C to a D, though."

For Birth Control "I was switched to this from Diane 35 after the birth of my 2 girls. I had been on Diane for 12 years and never had a problem. I've been on this pill for 1.5 years now and absolutely don't like it. Within the first month, my acne got worse and has been a struggle since. If I am late taking my pill by even 5 hours, I will start to spot, but then when it comes time for my period, half the time it doesn't come. PMS symptoms are worse as well."

For Birth Control "I have never felt so depressed as I am now while on this birth control. I am usually a very happy person, but these pills have turned me into an emotional, moody, and easily agitated woman. I have been on it for 5 months and decided to stop it today. In addition to my uncontrollable emotions, this pill has caused severe migraines to the point of vomiting, an increase in acne, sleep deprivation, and lack of motivation. My periods are still heavy, and I do still experience the same amount of cramping I did when I was not on any birth control. My periods are also still not regulated; some months I have skipped it completely. I am hoping that these side effects don't last after discontinuing the pill, as I've read on many other reviews."

For Birth Control "Taking this birth control made me feel like I was going crazy. My mood swings were horrible, and I was so irritable. I was so depressed while on it, and it also gave me back acne. I also feel like I got way more yeast infections while I was on it."

For Birth Control "I just went on this birth control, Aviane, a few weeks ago and immediately suffered nausea for the first several days. As soon as that stopped, I had the worst acne I have ever had in my life. It has turned me into an emotional wreck, where I cry for no reason. I know they say give it a few months, but I’m done with hormonal birth control. This is the second kind I have taken, and both ruin my life. It’s worse than being pregnant."

For Ovarian Cysts "I have been on Aviane for 2 months now going on three. Within the first month, I've experienced headaches, depression, mood swings, severe cramping, and bloating, as well as stomach gain (which went down). All of those symptoms went away by the second month of taking this pill, which I've experienced lighter periods. I still have mood swings and get depressed at times, but I have very bad breakouts all over my face, chin, and neck, as well as black marks on my forehead. I've always had acne, but I've never experienced it this badly. I will continue to take it for the 3rd and 4th month just to see if anything gets better, and I will keep you posted."

For Birth Control "I've been using this birth control for 6 months now. The first and second month, this pill made me extremely sick. By the 3rd month, I was okay. It then gave me really bad acne, which I've never had. It did eventually go away, but also by the 3rd month, it gave me a horribly low libido. I'm like the Sahara desert, causing me to have very painful sex. I have tried all kinds of libido boosters, but nothing works."

For Birth Control "I started this birth control 2 months ago, and I have never had acne or skin problems, and I'm getting small zits/bumps/acne around my chin and jawline. I've done a ton of research, and it's hormonal. My diet hasn't been the best, so that probably doesn't help either. My mood has definitely leveled off, and I feel more calm overall, I think, than my last bc, but I cannot stand getting this acne I'm developing."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for 9 months now. Maybe it is because I am small, 5'2'. Since I've taken this pill, my weight went from 117 to 144. My moody swings are obvious, and I always break out before my period, whereas before I never did. Yes, I did gain breast weight, but my pants all hate me. I want to try a completely new birth control method since no pill seems to be low hormone enough for me."

For Birth Control "I made a previous post right after I started Aviane. Now I'm a month in and back to review how things are going. I've been spotting since day 3. I've been trying to live with it in hopes things will get better, but 3+ weeks of this is really wearing on me. My mood has been normal. Nothing out of the ordinary, except some obvious frustrations regarding constant bleeding. Sex drive (which has been an issue on previous pills) is good. I'd say it's the same as without the pill. I've been having more breakouts. A couple of huge, painful zits that won't seem to go away. I've never had issues with zits much at all before, but not a huge deal. I may be slightly more bloated and hungry than before I was on the pill, but nothing major."

For Birth Control "Aviane has its pros and cons. I went on it because I had very bad cramps with my old birth control. With Aviane, my cramps basically disappeared, and I also didn’t gain any weight. With that being said, though, I have consistent acne now all over my face when my face is normally clear. Also, if I missed a pill one day and had to double up the next, I got my period for 7+ days when it wasn’t my period week (this is because it’s a low-dosage medicine). For me, the cons outweigh the pros, and I will be switching to another birth control."

For Birth Control "Aviane is the second birth control I’ve ever tried, and it’s by far the worst. I’ve worked hard to maintain clear skin ever since I managed to clear it last year, and ever since I started taking this birth control, my acne’s been going absolutely insane. I’ve never broken out this bad! I’m currently on my second month and thought it’d get better, but I just can’t take it. I’m always angry, and I’m easily irritable. My mood swings are constantly changing. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone. The only positive thing I could say about it is that I don’t cramp anymore, and my period is light."

For Birth Control "This was the third birth control that I tried, and was pretty close to just not using birth control pills anymore since the last two I tried had such severe side effects. However, this pill has been going quite well for me. I have been taking it for the past 2 weeks, and the only side effects I've noticed are nausea, headaches, a little more tired than usual, slightly more acne. I am also getting this weird stomach pain after eating right after taking my pill, but that could be from something else. Sex drive is normal, and my mood is the exact same. All in all, I think it's a good pill."
