For Birth Control "I recently got switched to this birth control as a trial for my mood swings. And the first month of taking the pill, everything was fine until it was time for my period. My period was abnormally light, but hormonal acne came back hard. I wake up to one to two cystic pimples a day, and it is so hard to keep under control. Even after period week, it keeps on coming, and it’s making me stress out. Nothing has changed besides acne, which is a big factor. Getting switched to my old BC pills ASAP. Truly debating stopping these pills for the time being."

For Birth Control "Aviane is the BEST birth control pill I've tried, don't let the bad reviews scare you! I've been on so many: Microgestin, Azurette, Apri, Trinessa, and Tri-Lo-Sprintec, to name a few. I've had side effects with all of those. I had things like breakouts, bloating, insomnia, constipation, mood changes, breakthrough bleeding, so I was nervous to start this. I have not had a single side effect on Aviane! I was worried about maybe having breakouts since I have sensitive skin and was previously on Accutane, but my skin has been smooth and clearer than ever since starting! No bleeding, bloating, or mood changes. I wish I had started it sooner. And my doctor said it's a great low-dose pill. If you have tried them all and lost hope of finding a good pill, try this one, trust me!!!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill going on six years now, and I cannot recommend it enough. My once debilitating menstrual cramps are much lighter, and my period has shortened by three days. The pill is so consistent, I can monitor my cycle down to the hour my bleeding will begin. I have had no negative side effects at all. My acne has been reduced but has not completely disappeared. The pill is effective at preventing pregnancy. Great birth control option that I have my own control over."

For Birth Control "Switched to Aviane from Lutera. Terrible mistake. First, my period was longer than normal (8-9 days). Second, I have fluid retention and bloating that kills my sex drive, so I don't even know how the actual medication affects my libido. My skin is now oily and uneven, with increased acne on my shoulders and back. My weight was steady and only varied about 2 pounds on any given day until I started this junk. Avoid it. Don't do it. Switching back to Lutera and throwing this out. I would rather be pregnant than deal with this medication."

For Birth Control "At first, this pill made me miserable. I had the worst mood swings and took it out on everyone around me. I stopped taking it after one month, but then I tried it again a few months later, and nothing bad happened. You just need to give your body enough time to get used to it. No weight gain, no mood swings (by the second month), no breast changes, etc. My face isn't totally clear of acne, and my period cramps/flow is only a little less, but this is a good pill if you just want the basics without altering your body."

For Birth Control "I have been taking the Aviane pill for about three months now, and it’s honestly been great! My boobs definitely grew two cup sizes, and my acne flared up at first, but everything balanced back out after the second month. I highly recommend this contraceptive!"

For Birth Control "After getting off of Ortho-Tricyclen Lo, I switched over to several other generic brands, which my gyno recommended, all of which had crazy side effects (breakthrough spotting/bleeding, acne, rashes on my face, crazy mood swings). Aviane is the first one that I've had no problems with so far: clear skin, no mood swings. Only minor issue is the small weight gain due to my increase in appetite, other than that, no complaints whatsoever!"

For Birth Control "Worst medication. It did what it was supposed to, but the side effects aren’t worth preventing pregnancy. It was okay, but I bled for the first month. Then my skin broke out, then was fine after the first month. Then the severe water retention and weight gain happened. Started at 120 lb and am 170 lb now. The premenstrual symptoms were insane. Like I had mood swings, anxiety, and depression. I’m a year in and have had serious suicidal thoughts. I never had mental health issues prior to this medication. Out of the whole month, I only felt mentally stable one week. That’s so crazy. Please don’t take them. Your mental health isn’t worth it."

For Birth Control "I gave this birth control a chance after coming off of a non-hormonal birth control that didn't control my periods. There was absolutely nothing good about this pill. I gave it seven months. My acne has permanently disfigured my jawline, large patches of cysts, new ones daily. They are inflamed and painful. Nothing helps, more kept coming. My period never came on time and would still be 9 days, controllable but still too much for being on BC. My moods were out of control. Constant suicidal thoughts. I've never dealt with such bad constant intrusive thoughts in my life. They need to take this pill off the market. It is literally dangerous. Three days off, my emotions are controlled, and I haven't had a cystic acne in 3 days!"

For Birth Control "Period was light with no cramps, but came with a migraine with aura and a minor breakout. After 8 months on the Aviane pill, I realized it made me crazy - I would be very paranoid, irritable, and irrational, and would fight with my BF every day over small things. I took a 3-month break where I ended up feeling a lot better and got back on it. Eight months later again, I started noticing the same symptoms, PLUS I no longer have a sex drive and can't get wet no matter how turned on I am - it destroys my confidence and strains my relationship. This added onto previously listed symptoms, as well as I ALWAYS FEEL PREGNANT, always have symptoms, but the tests are always negative. I just don't feel right. I've also been extremely tired and demotivated, as well as constantly dizzy. Unfortunately, I give up on birth control because I don't want to keep living with these symptoms, but I also don't want to trade them for possibly even worse symptoms like the bleeding every 2 weeks and breasts so sore it hurt to even wear a shirt I had on the POP Norethindrone."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for three weeks now. I had switched over from the NuvaRing because I was having problems with that. I have been feeling nauseous. Mood swings? Holy crap! I feel like I need to check myself into a mental hospital because I am very sure I might be going crazy. My face has always been clear. Never have I had an acne problem. I don't even use face wash ever. Occasional pimple here and there when I have my period, but never major. This birth control has wreaked havoc on my skin. Something terrible! I scheduled another gyno appointment just to get off this stuff!!! Not even one pack in and I'm begging to get out! I do not recommend this birth control for anyone!!!!"

For Birth Control "I gained 6 lbs on this pill in one month. It was a last-ditch effort at the BC pill for me. I have tried many others with many issues. My acne I get on my chin is okay, hasn't gotten better or worse. No nausea or stomach pains. I have had some issues with constipation on this pill also. I have been having issues sleeping on this pill. Hey, I'm not pregnant though..."

For Birth Control "I started taking Aviane in April. I switched to it from YAZ because it made me psycho with migraines every other day. At first, I loved Aviane because my headaches went away. I'm now 8 months into it and breaking out like a teenager. I am 25 years old, but you wouldn't know it by my face. I am so depressed about it. I don't want to look at anyone or talk to anyone. My overall mood when I don't have to talk to people is great. I love the way it makes me feel. It just seriously screwed up my face with cystic acne all around my chin and mouth area. I'm switching to another pill on Sunday! YAY ME! More breakouts through the transition period. WISH ME LUCK. :("

For Birth Control "I'm finishing up my 1st month of Aviane, and all I have to say is it is great. I've had a little spotting, but it's never that much, and it never lasts for more than a couple of hours. I haven't gotten any mood swings, no weight gain, and my acne has cleared up very quickly. This is definitely the birth control I would like to stay on. Even though everyone's different, this pill works great for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for a month now (never been on birth control before), and I am going to start a new pack tomorrow. Personally, I have had no weight gain (I actually lost weight), my moods were a little off the first couple of weeks, but they are back to normal now. I experienced mild spotting at the beginning. However, I did not get my period during the placebo week, so I am a little confused about that. I spotted for around 3 days right before placebo pills, but I don’t believe that it was my period. Also, my skin has broken out significantly (which could be because of my period coming soon????), but it has definitely not done anything to help my skin so far. Hopefully my skin will clear up, because then this pill would be amazing!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking Aviane for a little over a week now. So far, it's alright. Though I have noticed that my boobs hurt extremely bad, and I have been spotting nonstop the whole time. Also, I am breaking out, and I normally have clear skin. But I suppose it could just be my body adjusting to it."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for about 4 years, it has definitely done its job of preventing pregnancy. Unfortunately, I have not experienced any larger breasts as said by other users of this medicine. I also have not gained weight. The only thing that has changed is I do have light acne as opposed to having no acne before. I absolutely love my Aviane."

For Birth Control "I was on another birth control for over a year, and it was fine, but it gave me too much depression. I switched to the Aviane, and the past two months haven’t been that great. My acne is the worst it has ever been in my life. I had some really bad periods in the beginning. The worst part for me is that the Aviane has caused me to gain ten pounds in two months. I’ve weighed the same weight for the past three years. My mood has improved significantly on this pill, but I hate my appearance so much now I don’t know if it’s worth it. I kind of want to quit hormonal birth control altogether now, it’s been a tough experience."

For Endometriosis "I've been on Aviane for almost a year now, but recently started taking it continuously because of the terrible breakouts and mood swings/depression I was having on a monthly basis around when my period would start. Pros: continuous method (for me) works well at delaying periods and not dealing with the negative, no weight gain (Sprintec made me put on a lot of weight), easy to use, milder cramps, breasts went up from C's to D's, lighter flow, prevents pregnancy. Cons (with normal use): major depression-like symptoms for 2 weeks of the month, breakouts (I can usually keep them under control), enlarged breasts, feeling tired before period week."

For Birth Control "I am 24 and have been on the pill for 3 weeks. I have experienced heavy breakthrough bleeding during week 3, with painful cramping as well. My skin has broken out substantially, and I have an increased need to sleep. Mood swings are minimal, but are nonetheless still there. I hope this is just my body adjusting, as it is my first time on the pill."

For Birth Control "Before starting this pill, my flow was way too heavy! I would literally bleed through a super tampon and a pad in less than 2 hours. (Horrible, I know.) Also, my skin would get pimples like crazy. Within the first 2 months, my period was lighter and manageable. My acne also cleared up. But my mom and others would notice that I was super quiet, I'm usually talkative, so she thought I was depressed. I'm not completely sure it was the pill's fault. Currently, I am off the pill to see if my flow has gotten lighter. I'm giving it a 9 because of the 'depression' stage my peers thought I was going through."

For Birth Control "I'm on my second month of taking this BC and noticed in the first month my face was very dry. Had a few small breakouts. This could also be contributed to by using Glycolic Acid Cream. But I have had some pretty bad bloating and terrible gas and constipation. Though it did help the length of my cycle from 10/15 days down to 5/7 days. Cramps are a breeze compared to before Aviane. Sex drive isn't high, but I had issues with my sex drive before taking Aviane. Pretty bad breast tenderness and growth. If this BC is not the reasoning for my tummy issues, then I would recommend it."
