For Insomnia "I have been taking 3 mg eszopiclone for almost four months now. I have no problem apart from the funny taste in my mouth. I fall asleep within 45 minutes to an hour after taking my pill. I sleep for about 7 hours, waking up once for the bathroom and falling back asleep soundly until my alarm goes off in the mornings. My husband says I will fall asleep in the middle of a sentence after taking the pill. Apart from that awful taste in my mouth, I have no problem. I will try some of the suggestions mentioned for the bad taste in my mouth. I would give this medication an 8 out of 10, even though this is my first experience as I just started having insomnia."

For Insomnia "I started taking this medication last night, but I was awake all night. I have had severe insomnia for years and have undergone three sleep studies, which showed no sleep apnea. I have tried every OTC medication and numerous prescribed medications, but none have worked. Tonight is my second night on this medication, and once again, it is 2:30 a.m., and I am still awake. I am so frustrated that I just took another pill and am waiting to see if it will work. I am at my wit's end! I have not experienced the terrible taste that others have mentioned, but the medication has not yet helped me sleep. I guess I will have to wait and see what the rest of the night brings."

For Insomnia "Definitely has that weird taste. But my usual problem is sleep onset, which to my surprise, Lunesta is fantastic for! Normally, I spend an hour, if not more, trying to fall asleep, even with other Z-drugs, but Lunesta took less than 10 minutes before I was knocked out. But as described by my psychiatrist, she said it would help with sleep maintenance too. Unfortunately, I wake up around 1-2 am every night, even though this is supposed to last so much longer than Ambien in my system. Might try and volley back and forth between Ambien and Lunesta. All in all, still pretty effective against insomnia, just wish it’d give me a full 6-8 hours of sleep."

Eszopiclone for Insomnia "This is the third drug prescribed for insomnia. I am a 73-year-old female, with insomnia for at least 30 years. I take 2 mg nightly. I am in relatively good health. This is the only medication I take on a daily basis. I have been using Lunesta for approximately 3 months. It has helped me to fall asleep quickly (within 30-60 minutes), but I rarely sleep more than six hours per night. It does seem to make me feel calmer. Side effects which persist: constant headache, foods having an odd taste, loss of appetite, leg cramps. Only recently, I feel tired and exhausted all the time, often staying in bed for long periods; some depression, and within the past few weeks, serious muscle and joint pain in hands and legs. While I have tolerated Lunesta better than other meds prescribed, I am now getting discouraged with a new set of side effects. This is something to be discussed with my doctor. Is only getting 6 hours of sleep worth the side effects when I was sleeping the same number of hours using an OTC med?"

Eszopiclone for Insomnia "After heart surgery in 2014, I went from having normal sleep to insomnia and vivid dreams. After 10 months, I have been taking medications and dietary supplements. I have recently tried Lunesta, and I have found that I only get 2-3 hours of sleep on Lunesta, and I do have that taste in my mouth when I went to a doctor. We have been trying different medications the next day. Ambien works great, but it is a wicked medication to take for very long. You build up a tolerance to it, and the withdrawals, for me, are 2 nights without any sleep. My doctor and I are still working on a treatment and a cure. Medical marijuana is out of the question for me but has been recommended by my Colorado relatives, but I'm not going there."

Eszopiclone for Insomnia "3 mg. Wide awake. The pharmacist warned me to be sure to be in bed when I took it. I was. 40 minutes later, I got up to do other things. Other than the awful taste in my mouth, I felt nothing."
