Esomeprazole for GERD "I have really bad GERD, been dealing with it for years, peptic ulcers, bleeding ulcer, and hiatal hernia. I’ve tried my fair share of medications for this problem. I stopped using the meds a couple of years ago and have been in agony with heartburn for a year now. I caved and got the Nexium off-brand at Costco. Literally, less than a month in, and my anxiety is INSANE. I’m so tired, jittery, and anxious. I already have anxiety and depression, so this just made it flare up and go nuts. I am stopping it tomorrow and going to speak to my doctor about finding something that will work, so I don’t live with the chronic heartburn, but also so I don’t have to take stuff that gives me severe anxiety. This sucks!"

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "In the first week that I stopped, on the second day the acid returned with everything. I managed to cope well because my diet was well controlled. The dizziness disappeared on the third day, and in the next weeks I only lived with the pain in the chest/arm/shoulder, and an increase in acidity, in addition to anxiety, and blood pressure still changed (this with two weeks without using). From time to time, I feel some pain in my stomach because I know that my gastritis and bulboduodenitis are still not completely cured for not completing the three months of treatment. The drug did help to improve the symptoms of my gastritis, but it made me extremely worse in many other aspects of my health. If you are experiencing the same symptoms that I am experiencing, please re-evaluate and see if you can avoid using this medication. Depending on the person, it can really give you several side effects. 3rd part"

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "I had suspected gastritis after a stomach bug, with burning under my rib cage. The gastritis itself was causing me to feel shaky, and I had one episode of pounding heart and probably something of a panic attack. This happened right after diarrhea and me taking Pepto-Bismol. So, the doctor put me on esomeprazole 40 mg, and it quickly addressed the acid burning, and I do think it's helped me heal. However, I'm currently tapering off this after six weeks of use because I've been getting the anxious, lightheaded, dizzy nausea feelings described by others and they're getting to me. I've not yet had the rebound acid, hopefully, I won't. I just take a couple of Tums here and there. I'm just hoping and praying the dizzy, pre-fainting feelings go away soon. God bless all of you, take care of your guts!"

Esomeprazole for GERD "Was given Nexium 40 mg for GERD. First week was great. Felt relief after 3 days. Second week it stopped working as well and nasty side effects. The worst being anxiety (crying all day), painful muscle cramps, and it made my chronic pain (fibromyalgia) worse! But also insomnia, stomach pain, headaches, trembling, watery diarrhea, nausea, insomnia, weakness, and fatigue. I'm asking the doctor tomorrow for something else. Never taking this again."

Esomeprazole for GERD "I’m from England. I thought I was losing my mind, but I have had health issues with this acid reflux, belching all the time, so I tried all these medications. I started to get upset all the time, have bad nervousness. My stomach has issues, sleeping issues, bad shakes, headaches. I tried to talk to someone, and all they do is look at you like you’re losing your mind. Then, on top of that, I had unexplained seizures. The last time I had one was two years ago, and I was better. I thought great, I can go for my car license back, but I started to have issues again with belching. I was then given Nexium, I was on it for a day, then back to two seizures, then a rash on the side of my face, then I passed out at work. They did my blood pressure, and that was so high that I thought I was going to have a heart attack, so they kept me in over Christmas. I knew I was not losing my mind. People, be careful."

For GERD "Started this medicine for acid reflux. The first few days were okay, and it worked, but then I started having bad side effects. I started getting violent episodes of hiccups that wouldn't go away until I vomited, always just felt full and needing to burp, and just felt like my whole abdomen was wanting to spasm. After a few days, I started just feeling really anxious and panicky for no reason, and I also had trouble getting to sleep. I also suffer from migraines, and this medicine definitely made them worse and more frequent. I had no idea that heartburn medications could cause such terrible side effects. After a week, I realized it was the Nexium doing this, and needless to say, I have stopped taking it. After doing so, I felt like myself again after a few days."

For GERD "Was taking Pantium up to a month ago and then switched to this drug. Have been feeling so nauseous the last 10 days, and now I know why, because it's all down to this tablet. Never again will I take this. My anxiety and stress levels are through the roof."

"I am a teenager with eosinophilic esophagitis. I was prescribed esomeprazole to treat my EoE (my main symptoms were difficulty swallowing and indigestion). I have been taking 40 mg every morning and just recently found out that the Nexium reduced my eosinophil count to 0! My indigestion is virtually gone, too. However, this medication has side effects. I've had extreme anxiety, racing heart, and butterflies in my stomach at even the slightest trigger. For now, I must continue to take Nexium, as it is helping my EoE and indigestion, but the anxiety it causes is getting to be too much to bear. Overall, I would say that Nexium is very helpful for symptom relief, but you must weigh that with the side effects to decide if it's right for you."

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "These pills give me stomach ache, bloating, headache, anxiety, and depression. But worst of all is the difficult breathing. Was really horrible."
