Empagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Been on Jardiance now for 6 months. Have lost 21 lbs. Yes, you pee a lot and drink more, but it is well worth it. My A1C is 6.2. Got one UTI, then it went away. Just follow up with your doc, and you will be fine. I'm 60, and this is the first diabetic drug that has really helped me. Plus, the weight loss is an added plus."

Empagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Started this in addition to Trulicity with hopes to add to weight loss and lower sugars a bit more. I didn't lose any additional weight, but it did seem to lower sugar. However, after taking this for about a year, I started getting a yeast infection. I NEVER get them. I tried everything: prescription meds, creams, suppositories. Nothing worked to get rid of it. I was blistering, peeling, and bleeding. I also had a pretty constant UTI. I even used moist wipes per the doctor's order from day one to keep extra clean. At first, I thought it could be those, so I changed brands and even went to the ultra-sensitive ones. Then I thought to check here, and I'm so glad I did! After realizing it could be Jardiance, I went off of it and the infections stopped on their own with no other intervention! My doc tried to start again with a lower dose, but as soon as I started getting the first sign of infections coming back, I ditched it. Waiting on an appointment with an endo to see what's next."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started Jardiance in January 2019. HbA1c was 47, which I attribute to a low-carb diet. Anyway, within days, developed a urinary infection. Once cleared, GP recommended to keep taking Jardiance. Later that year, scalp became itchy, red with boils, followed by hair falling out. I’m now left with thin, dry strands. GP and Endo still insisted I continue taking Jardiance. Since March 2022, developed thrush, which has refused to shift. Then, last week, developed another episode of back pain accompanied by frequent urination. Upon arrival at GP’s, urine showed high levels of glucose, no infection, but extremely high ketones. A finger prick test showed blood glucose levels as normal. Frequent urination had dehydrated me. On the advice of GP, I have stopped this med and re-started a low-carb diet. Thrush has cleared up. BS levels are normal. Last HbA1C in September was 50. Fingers crossed it gets lower with a low-carb diet."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I switched to empagliflozin from pioglitazone (swelling in left foot) after two years. Currently, four months on empagliflozin, one UTI, have lost 18 pounds, A1C about the same 7.1, but constant thirst and need to urinate. Seeing pharmacist tomorrow about the possibility of Onglyza, but may stay with empagliflozin due to the side effect of Onglyza being the possibility of pancreatitis."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was on metformin and gliclazide for too long, I was suffering horrifically with it. Severely swollen, dizzy, and being sick. My consultant moved me to this as I was fed up with vomiting the others up, and I must say - it's been perfect. I was warned of the risks of yeast infections, UTIs, and serious perineal infections and given medication to prevent thrush - but I have had nothing. I've lost all the held water, lost weight, no side effects other than going to the toilet more, thirsty at times, and a bit dizzy if I haven't eaten. It's an excellent medication!"

"Caused severe UTIs back to back, even with antibiotics, and simply lots of pain. Felt like I was being sucked dry. Two days off of it, belly is relaxed, and I feel so normal. Also, it didn't bring down my glucose."

Empagliflozin for Type 2 Diabetes "Yes, it lowered my A1C. Yes, it lowered my blood sugar. But after 4 months of going from one UTI with vaginal yeast infection to another, I cannot stand those side effects anymore. I stopped it."
