For Birth Control "I started taking Yaz just last month. When I started taking the white period-inducing pills, the period didn't stop after I switched back to the rest of the monthly pills. I've had my period for 13 days straight at a time and am not sure what to do. Also, breast soreness, nausea, and headaches have occurred, making this rather unpleasant."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Loryna for 2 months now, and it's honestly been the best birth control pill I've taken. I've tried the implant, shot, and patch before. The implant and shot made me lose 20 pounds, and the patch made me very nauseous and made me throw up constantly. So I said, let me try something else. I read many bad reviews on this birth control, but everybody is different. I'm happy I didn't let the bad reviews stop me from trying. The first week on this, I did have headaches/migraines, but they went away. In the third week, I did get cramps here and there. This pill boosted my mood during the first month. I'm now almost done with month two. I did notice that for one week straight, I was extremely moody during my second month of taking birth control, but now I'm fine. I take my birth control every night before bed."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Probably the worst decision I have ever made was to go on this pill. I decided to wait a few months in order for my mood to improve since I am aware it takes a few months for your body to regulate the hormones. I had just switched from Alesse because my doctor recommended me to try Yaz to see if I would like it more as the periods are shorter. My irritability, anxiety, and depression were at an all-time high during the 7 months I was taking this pill. I was convinced I had BPD because of how insane I felt. It ruined a lot of my relationships, and I was very suicidal. As soon as I got off of it, back on Alesse, my fav, I felt amazing again and normal. I also felt super nauseous, and my heart rate was always irregular. My friends have all had similar experiences with Yaz, and I really would not recommend it if you are a young girl in her late teens (I’m 19). Hope this saves someone's time, I really recommend Alesse if you can take it!"

For Birth Control "In my third month of taking Gianvi, I have had major mood swings, depression, anxiety, and changes in appetite varying from nausea to overeating. I have not felt like this before with any other birth control. A little with Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, but I don't think it is as bad as this. I feel like I'm at constant war with myself to keep my emotions and my feelings in line. I'm not usually an emotional person, so all these feelings are very overwhelming and frustrating. I have an appointment in a week to go to Planned Parenthood and ask for a different kind of birth control. I've decided to stop taking it today. It does work, however, I have not gotten pregnant."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've had a very positive experience with Yaz (Eloine in the UK), which has completely cleared up my previously debilitating PMDD. All of my symptoms have gone: the fatigue, nausea, difficulty concentrating, depression, anxiety, foggy-headedness, bloating, water retention, cravings, muscle aches, and insomnia. I've been taking it continuously for four months, and although for the first few weeks I noticed some of the side effects mentioned on the leaflet, such as tearfulness and breast swelling (also, I was hornier than usual!), these went and left me feeling really good. I don't notice a single side effect now, and I have more consistent energy and happiness. Also, no weight gain to speak of: I just had some fluctuations in water retention during the first month, and my shape has slightly changed (a little less fat on my stomach/more on my hips), but it's not extreme, and I feel good. I definitely recommend trying Yaz for PMDD, and I hope your experience is as good as mine!"

For Birth Control "I took Loryna (another generic form of Yaz) for years without any problems. I got switched to another Yaz generic called Nikki about a year ago, and within months started feeling some terrible symptoms, like being out of breath with hardly any exertion and nausea. Then my legs started to swell and I had terrible back pain. Turned out I had a record-breaking sized blood clot from my heart all the way to my legs. After tests, I have no underlying factors such as genetics or Factor V, and birth control is the only plausible cause. Careful, ladies."

For Birth Control "Just finished my first pack of Ocella. I am pleased so far! This is the third birth control pill I have tried, the first two were nightmares. I quit the pill altogether for two years but decided to start up again with Ocella. I was on Kariva, then switched to Minastrin. I had awful weight gain with both. I didn't change my diet, it was all water weight that was lost within a week of stopping the pills. So far on Ocella, I have not gained any weight and do not feel bloated or puffy. I am assuming that has to do with the diuretic effect of the progestin, which I am all for if it keeps bloating at bay! The first few days of taking this pill, I had extreme nausea, but that went away. I also had a few headaches, but I got that before taking Ocella. Given my past experience, I was terrified of taking this pill. So far, it has been a breeze. I am hoping that it continues to be like this! Give it a shot and see how it works for you. If you have struggled with other pills in the past, this may be the one for you."

For Birth Control "Let me just start by saying I was terrified to start this pill based on all the reviews. I was previously on 'Mylan' (generic Yaz at my pharmacy) then had to switch to a mail order due to corporate greed. I am happy to report that I have had absolutely no issues with this medicine. My acne is still under control, I don't (and didn't) have any nausea, no weight gain, nothing!! I take this at 8 pm religiously, and it works great. Be aware if you were not on birth control previously, I did have some initial side effects with the start of Mylan brand (bloat, heartburn, mild nausea) but that is expected when going on birth control for the first time. After the initial adjustment period (1 to 2 months), it was smooth sailing and then the switch to Nikki (my 3rd month), it was like I never changed birth control pills."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Ocella for a couple of weeks and lost weight. It has completely changed my life. I used to have severe cramps every single day, and I don’t now. I’m no longer bloated and going to the bathroom good. Acne has gotten a little worse, and I’m a little nauseous at night."

For Birth Control "I took Gianvi for 3 months, and I loved it. I lost weight (about 10 lbs) even though I was eating a lot of fast food and crap. My mood improved, I felt more motivated, and despite having some spotting a couple of days before starting my period, it did make my periods lighter and shorter with virtually no cramps. After three months, my insurance switched me to Loryna, which has been a nightmare. I've been on that for a month and had such horrible nausea constantly and was sick to the point of throwing up on several occasions and even threw my pill up once and had to take Plan B! It was a dreadful experience, and I'm going back on Gianvi today. Couldn't be happier! Give Gianvi a try, it's been awesome for me."

For Acne "I have been on Yaz for 6 weeks. I know that isn't very long to make a judgment about its effects on acne, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Though it really has not helped my acne at all, I cannot conclude that in the next month or two it wouldn't help then either. My issue is that the side effects are really discouraging. I have been so tired almost every day and my energy is low. I'm a fitness fanatic, but my workouts haven't been as good because I'm so tired. I've also been more depressed and my appetite has most definitely increased. I have had some mild nausea. I noticed an increase in gas and bloating. My breasts have also been extremely tender and swollen."

For Birth Control "I usually don't write reviews, but I thought I should as I read these before starting my first packet and found a lot of negative reviews which completely scared me. Although I know everyone's body is different, Yaz completely changed my life. I started taking Yaz as I was experiencing frequent breakouts and PMS leading up to my period, as well as terrible cramps and nausea during. For years, it was such a struggle for me, and it got to the point where I would be completely out of order for the first day or two of my period. No pain medication helped! I couldn't be any more thankful for Yaz as I no longer experience any of these symptoms. I find that my mood is much more stable throughout my cycle, and I hardly experience menstrual cramps anymore. Additionally, my skin has cleared up significantly. Although I have not tried other birth controls, I do not have any negative side effects to comment on."

For Birth Control "I was super worried about starting this pill due to all of the negative feedback here, but it’s not bad at all. I used to be on Gianvi, but was put on Nikki due to insurance reasons, and my doctor assured me it should be the same exact experience. I’ve been on Nikki for 2 weeks and haven’t had any negative side effects, except for feeling nauseous a couple of times and feeling super hungry in the middle of the night a few times. No breakouts or weight gain."

For Acne "My doctor put me on Yaz medication 2 years ago to help with my acne. Before it, I was on a different kind I believe called Microgestin, and that had made my acne worse. Switching to this birth control was a big change. I am now a complete moody cow, and I am accidentally so mean to everyone in my life. I cry at least 5 times a week over the stupidest things, and am always tired and have no energy to do anything. On top of it all, I get nauseous around the same time every day, and it overall has messed up my body. But my skin is perfectly clear, and I'll probably stay on it because I don't want acne, lol."

For Birth Control "I'm currently still on Yaz because my mother won't let me off of it. I'm 18 and not using Yaz for contraception but for depression and anxiety, which I find horrendous that my doctor has kinda just gone, 'you're a female, it must be your period!' Idiot. However, Yaz was kind of working at the start, everything has gone downhill, and now in my fourth month of using it, I'm thinking of stopping taking them against my doctor and mother because my periods are irregular. I drink a lot of water, but I'm constipated daily. I have funny discharge, I've put on weight, I have headaches and feel dizzy. Closer to my period, I get sick and feel like vomiting, and I'm not happy. These pills don't help me how they're supposed to, they just hurt me."

For Acne "I am 20 years old. I've had moderate acne since I was 13. I've never had completely clear skin since that age. I needed to get on birth control, and I was a bit nervous about the side effects. I chose Yaz because the claims said it would help clear acne. When I started my first pack, my breasts became sore, and I was slightly nauseous. Nothing seemed to happen with my skin. By my second pack, I started to break out, I wasn't sure if it was the birth control or just me. The nausea went away. By the fourth pack, the breakout was at its worst. I was very frustrated and wanted to quit the birth control. But by the end of my fourth pack, I noticed the acne was clearing. I am now on my fifth month with only a couple of small pimples, and my hopes are high!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I took this medicine for a year and just switched. I had many negative symptoms that started with severe nausea every night about an hour after taking it. For the first three months, my periods got lighter for a few months and then went back to heavy. I did always get my period on the exact day I was supposed to, but throughout the whole year, I was VERY emotional and at times felt as though I had no control over myself. This was my main pushing factor to switching. I WANT ME BACK! I just want to say that I understand (and hope others do too) that my body acts differently to birth control than others and just want to let everyone know that not all medicines work for everyone. If this does not work the way you want, try something new. BE HAPPY!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Yasmin a year now, and honestly, if your doctor offers you this pill, say no. They don't tell you about the really bad mood swings you get, or the anger attacks, or the anxiety and depression, and even the nausea I get every day. I am now suffering from all of this because of Yasmin. I never knew how bad my anger was until my partner said about how bad it actually was. I've only just realized that my anger has been ridiculous over the past months. If any of you are experiencing these things, I'd suggest you stop taking Yasmin and go back to your doctors for another pill. It is dangerous."

For Birth Control "I started Yaz for my PMDD. First, it was pretty normal: nausea, headache, and sore boobs. Then the second week hit, and I completely lost my appetite, lost all sex drive, and felt awful mentally and emotionally. I would feel depressed and anxious right when I woke up and would have breakdowns every day in the middle of the day. Once nighttime came, I felt numb and lazy. My PMDD wasn’t good before getting on Yaz, but it was at least manageable. I felt like my reality changed, I didn’t feel normal. I didn’t get my period while on it. I called my doctor to see if these symptoms would persist, and she suggested I wait a couple of months because my symptoms were normal...but later that day, I had a panic attack and decided to get off ASAP. It’s been 3 days since I stopped (was on it for exactly two weeks), and I feel slight relief knowing it was the Yaz that made me feel so awful, but I still have the bad thoughts and anxiety, and my appetite isn’t back. Hoping I feel normal again soon."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Yaz now for a little over a year, and I have noticed a few effects of it. Some good and some bad. It cleared up my acne a lot, made my periods WAY lighter and less painful. The bad side effects are that I almost completely have lost my sex drive, also it makes my eyes super sensitive, I always have to wear sunglasses and can barely wear contacts for about 3 hours. When I first started taking it, I got really bad nausea, but now I don't."

For Birth Control "Have been taking Ocella for four months now due to polycystic ovarian syndrome. I've been experiencing elevated blood pressure, and this is causing some other ill feelings, such as nausea and shortness of breath, which immediately triggers anxiety attacks. Surprisingly, I feel fine emotionally for the majority of the time. My breast size has increased, my sex drive is up, my periods are lighter, and my skin is clearer. The negative symptoms I have been experiencing have not been frequent, they have only occurred recently. However, the severe elevation in my blood pressure is cause for concern, and I may switch next month to a new pill."

For Birth Control "Yasmin works great for me! I’ve been on it for about 6 months. During the second and third month of being on it, I was experiencing nausea and heavy periods. I decided to stick it out though! My periods are now back to normal, and I don’t experience nausea. I haven’t gained any weight on this birth control, I’ve actually lost a few pounds. It’s a very reliable birth control. A lot of people say something about losing their sex drive, this could be because of the mood swings a lot of people experience. You just have to let your body get used to the new hormones being placed into it. I love this birth control!"

For Birth Control "I'm on week 3 of Yaz, and I can't impress enough how it has exacerbated my depression. I am crying constantly, I'm getting cramps like there's no tomorrow, and feeling nauseous randomly. I don't think regulating my period is worth the feeling of hopelessness, the lack of motivation, and the general low feeling I am immersed in after only 3 weeks!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Gianvi for about 3 months now, and honestly, at first, I was very worried about side effects and very nervous as to what would happen to my body, but it’s the best decision I ever made! Within the first week of starting the pill, I was nauseous almost every day (I take my pill at 9:00 pm). Every now and then, I’ll get a bit nauseous, but it is tolerable. I did not gain/lose any weight and do not bleed (nor haven’t bled) any other time than when I menstruate within the first three days of starting the placebo pills. The only significant complaint I have is frequent headaches. I have a headache at some point throughout the day almost every day, some last hours and others, minutes. Again, they are uncomfortable but tolerable, and if they are very bad, I’ll take some OTC pain relief drugs. I am happy having peace of mind and no more pregnancy scares! Also, my periods have shortened, lightened, and are much less painful ever since I started taking Gianvi, which is great."
