For Acne "I have taken Yasmin for 4 months. The 1st month had increased acne, headaches, nausea, tender breasts, and slight irritability. Halfway through the 2nd month, skin started to improve and side effects stopped. My period came on the 2nd day of taking the white placebo pill. Usually, the week before my period, I have painful cramps and have to take painkillers, this time there was no bloating or cramps and pain. On the 3rd month, my skin is starting to heal and look a lot clearer, periods are normal and pain-free. Only mild discomfort half an hour before my period starts. Yasmin will make your skin breakout when you first start taking it, but it will start to improve. After I wash my makeup off, I can't believe how clear my skin is."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I took this for one week, and it almost killed me (literally), and I am still trying to fix a relationship. The doctor prescribed it for me to help with PMDD. Within a day, I was nauseated at even the thought of food. I couldn't eat the whole week without throwing up or dry heaving. I had chest pains that felt like a heart attack. It also made me extremely paranoid (hence the relationship fixing). I spent two days with a migraine so bad I was eating Excedrin like candy. I contacted my doctor to say I was not taking it anymore, and she gave me excuses to keep going with it. She told me I needed to get used to it. That night, I found myself laying in bed seriously depressed. I've never been so low in my life. I immediately contacted a friend to talk to me until I fell asleep. I didn't trust myself. And my doctor wanted me to adjust to it for a couple of months? PMDD sucks, but I'll take that any day over the week that almost ended my life."

For Acne "First off, let me say I am a Pharmacy Technician. I was on Yaz for about 5 months. It was okay. It wasn't strong enough to stop my periods until about 4 days into a new pack, it didn't do much for my skin, and it was $40/month because there is no generic. I only kept taking it because it didn't make me nauseous (I am very sensitive to nausea). After $40/month was a little too much, I went to my doctor and wanted to be put on Ocella because it would only be $10/month and it has the same hormones as Yaz, which didn't make me sick, but it was 0.01 mg stronger, which made me a little nervous. But I tried it, it didn't make me sick AT ALL, cleared my skin up, periods start and stop on time, no cramps, cheaper generic, and I lost 17 lbs! LOVE IT!"

For Birth Control "I was super terrified to try Yasmin, but I wanted to try it for my hormonal acne. Yasmin has really helped (so far), my face has been gradually clearing up during the past 3 weeks, and my painful cysts are flattening. My skin is whiter too - less red and blotchy. So happy about that! I lost about 5 kilos in 3 days. I wore one pair of pants one day that were tight and had to change them at the end of the day because my thighs and stomach had so noticeably shrunk. It was like I took some kind of shrinking potion! I kept my chest though. :) I love Yasmin so far. I have more energy, less hair fall, better skin, no emotional flares, and it's helped with the insomnia that I got after my friend died. I sleep like a baby now. I was slightly nauseous for the first 2 days."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I just finished my first package of Yaz. It has been a patient struggle. I had been having issues with PMS, really violent mood swings, and acne. The first 2 weeks on Yaz were a breeze. The third week I started feeling extremely nauseous and tired, almost like I was drunk. The next days I started getting stomach issues: diarrhea, bloating, migraine. I stayed on it and tried to be patient. I was taking ibuprofen daily to get by. As of today, I'm on the sugar pills, and I had my period for at least 10 days. I really think it made a difference with my cystic acne. I just got one cyst this month. However, my back got full of small flesh-colored pimples I had never had, and I also got them on my chest. I am open to taking two more months of it. It's not all nice, but the body needs to adapt, so I feel it is normal to have these changes. What I did feel for a while was my veins hurting all the time, which didn't happen before. It got better after I started using compression leggings."

For Birth Control "I've gotten into a serious relationship this past year, and I opted to get birth control. I have had the Xulane birth control patches and the generic Yaz, Gianvi. Xulane gave me every side effect possible-mood swings, nausea, and headache, and Gianvi made me have mood swings. I asked my pharmacist to give me the non-generic version, and I finally got Yaz. I've had zero side effects, no mood swings, no weight gain, and glowing skin! If you're hesitant to try because of previous bad reviews, give it a shot! I am the person who has every possible bad side effect of every drug, and I highly recommend it!"

For Birth Control "I recently started the Yasmin pill, and at first, I honestly didn't think I would be able to carry on with it because it was making me feel so nauseous! I also got really bad headaches, which caused me to be really moody. However, my doctor told me to give it a few weeks to settle and for my system to get used to it. I was not happy about this, let me say! I wanted to scream at her to feel how ill I felt. It got better though, on the fifth day, I woke up, and I felt fine all of a sudden, all of the side effects I was feeling had just gone. I had terrible skin, and it has made my skin so much better, and I feel fine now. If you're taking it and you're feeling ill like I did - I know it feels like crap, but honestly, just hold on, because it will go."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Yasmin for 9 months, and I can say that it has protected me effectively against pregnancy. I have read about some negative effects that have been linked to this pill. However, I decided to take it because my mother took it for years without experiencing any side effects. During my first cycle taking the pill, I experienced mild nausea and upset stomach occasionally. However, the symptoms were gone by the time I started my second pack. I have not noticed any changes in my weight or in my mood. I have frequent muscle cramps in my legs, but I am not sure that this is being caused by the pill."

For Birth Control "I just started Nikki a month ago. For the first week, I had terrible nausea and headaches. However, now my skin is so, so clear. For the past 2 years, I have been struggling with terrible bloating to the point where I look pregnant. Nikki helped me feel less bloated, and I have lost 10 pounds in one month! I am 120 lbs now, so losing 10 lbs was a big deal for me! I am so happy and thankful for this pill. It really has transformed my life. Best of all, my copay is $0!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Yasmine for over 8 years. Two months ago, my local pharmacist suggested the switch to Zarah. Two months have now passed. I'm nauseous, I've gained 8 pounds, and I'm also tired often. Honestly, I thought I was pregnant (I'm not)... The cheap switch is not worth the side effects. There is something different about this pill."

For Acne "Before taking Yaz, like most people, I came on here and spent hours reading reviews. Per usual, I freaked myself out. You have to remember that birth control affects every single person differently. You will not know how this medication will work for you until you try it. I'm 21 and have always had breakouts, but they became cystic when I started college. I have done everything from dermatologist-prescribed topical creams to changing my diet and revamping my skincare routine. Literally, nothing worked. I am now at the start of my 3rd month of Yaz. The only side effect symptoms I have had are nausea and breast tenderness, which are both manageable. As of this week, my skin is finally starting to clear up. Any breakouts seem to be small and manageable. I really hope that this is not a temporary thing (my skin sometimes has good days and tricks me into thinking my acne is gone). I would say anyone considering trying this definitely should!"

For Birth Control "I am at month 7 of taking Yaz, and I've never been more anxious and depressed in my entire life (I'm 21). I've never had so many panic attacks and mood swings in a year. I had so many health problems this year, and I've been to the hospital so many times. Those things never happened to me before. The reason why I started this pill was to avoid pregnancy. Well, it worked, but my anxiety made me feel paranoid always about being pregnant because I was bloated all the time, and my periods were always changing. My anxiety made me lose too much weight and caused acid reflux, which left me with persistent nausea for months, and I got a lot of migraines, which recently began to be aura migraines. My mom said that I was not the same person anymore. My boyfriend is sad to see me like this, and I don't really see my friends anymore because of my social anxiety. I'm getting off this pill tonight. Don't ever use it, it's ruining lives."

For Birth Control "This is a good birth control pill! I've been on Yasmin for a couple of years, and it has never failed on me. I also took it for acne, but that was hit or miss. I go through periods where my skin is clear and then periods where my skin is bad. If I wasn't on Yasmin, though, my skin would be 10x worse! In addition, my periods have gotten very light and only last 4 days. No mood swings, no nausea, no headaches. I truly recommend this pill."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I am a 39-year-old woman. I started taking Vestura five weeks ago to help with extreme mood swings during PMS. It's been 10 years since I last used birth control pills. I skipped the placebo pills and went into the next pack of active pills as advised by my doctor, but a week into the new pack I experienced medium-to-heavy breakthrough bleeding, cramps, nausea, and emotional distress, including crying spells and passive suicidal thoughts. I do have a history of anxiety and depression, but I'm concerned about continuing to take this pill if there's a possibility it's bringing on these intense emotions. I've decided to stop taking it rather than 'wait it out' another few months."

"I wasn’t able to get my usual birth control, so I used Yaz and had a terrible experience. I got bad anxiety and depression, headaches, nausea, moodiness, and I gained several pounds around my lower belly in a matter of weeks. I would not recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "Personally, I don't think you should take into account the advice of people who only used it for a month when starting this product. Of course, within the first months, there will be some adjusting, breast size increased a little, experienced some nausea, and had some hyper mood changes. Now, I have 0 acne all the time, sex drive has not been particularly affected, have gained some weight but I wouldn't blame it on the pill, and my period is four days long. Unfortunately, there have been some notable side effects: minor headaches for like 5 seconds at a time that hurt a bit (not that often but noticeable), sharp pains in the abdomen during my period. The thing to watch out for, though, is the PMS. This drug really doesn't prevent it, and I think it ramps it up a bit. I hate ending every month realizing that I was being really irritable and upset and arguing with people the week before my period. I'm chill 90% of the time-except for that week."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I have used this medication for a month now, and I have been extremely tired. I would wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, take the pill, and go back to sleep for hours. Constantly tired or nauseated. I am wondering if I should stop taking them right now."

For Birth Control "I have been on birth control for over 5 years due to a BRCA diagnosis, and this is by far the absolute worst brand ever. My pharmacy started giving me a different generic of the one I was previously on, and it was the worst 4 months (insurance wouldn't cover another pack, and buying one was too expensive). I went from having almost no period symptoms on Lornya to being in bed for 4 days, puking, and the worst cycles since I first started having them. I gained 10 pounds in the first 2 months of the pack and was having mood swings all the time. Maybe it was because I switched brands, but this was miserable, and I hope other women can avoid it."

For Acne "I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15 and was on Diane for about 6 years, it did absolutely nothing and made me an emotional wreck. I switched to Yasmin, and I’m now on my 3rd month of it. Already, my moods are so much better, I feel happier in myself and don’t have the mood swings I was experiencing before. I am yet to notice any change with my acne, but I’m hoping this will change as time goes on. I have not put on any weight with this pill and feel no nausea or cramps, except small period cramps which last around a day, which is nothing compared to my periods without the pill. I think for anyone who has PCOS and is looking for another pill, I’d definitely recommend this one, as even in this small time frame, I feel so much happier."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Yaz for 4 months now, I'm 16 years old. Few complaints: at the beginning, this pill caused me horrible nausea and breast pain, but that could be due to changing to Yasmin from Microgynon 30. Also, I experienced spells of depressive moods, which have now cleared up, but I often experience mood swings! On a positive note, my skin has cleared up massively and I have maintained, if not lost, weight. Great pill."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for around a year, and I can’t believe I put up with it for that long. My appetite would change constantly. Sometimes I would eat everything, and sometimes I couldn’t eat without feeling nauseous. I’ve tried this pill and Tricyclen, this one made me gain so much more weight. I was on both for around a year. Finally, the mood swings. I would cry every single day for no reason. Even if something inconvenient happened, I’d start crying. And I felt like I couldn’t control it. Out of nowhere, the tears would start falling. It made everyone around me annoyed. It helped my acne for a bit, but then I started getting a few pimples again after a while. I do not recommend this one!"

For Birth Control "This was one of the worst experiences of my life. Women who have a history of anxiety and depression should be warned not to take the Gianvi contraceptive pill. It made me have horrifying panic attacks and an episode of depression. I felt very drowsy, constantly nauseous, and fatigued. I am not on any other type of medication and have a very active, healthy lifestyle. This pill was like poison for the whole body. I am so angry I wasn’t warned about all these very serious side effects."

For Acne "I’ve been on this Nikki birth control pill for about 3 weeks, and so far the side effects suck. It makes me feel more depressed, stomachaches, and it’s really hard for me to eat without feeling nauseous. I switched from the birth control Junel Fe, which did nothing for my skin. I’m also currently on spironolactone (have been for 3.5 months), which has helped my skin a lot. However, since switching to Nikki (Yaz generic), my skin has started breaking out like crazy. The zits I’m getting are huge, and some are painful. (I have 4 zits on my face right now that came out of nowhere.) Before I switched, I wasn’t getting these kinds of zits. However, I will say that I have a lot of hope! First of all, I was expecting an initial breakout. Breakouts are a common initial side effect of switching BC pills. From reading other reviews, most people say it gets worse before it gets better. I’m sticking with this. A few months from now, I’ll post an update on here to report on how my skin is doing."
