For Birth Control "Went on this just for birth control. My acne has always been mild, break out near period usually. When I started the pill, I broke out for the first 2 months in places I don't normally break out (cystic too). It was pretty sad because I don't normally break out that bad. On my third pack now, though, and my skin is pretty much clear again. My period pain used to be severe, though, and now they are much better (period has always been regular and short, 3-4 days). I have increased a cup in breast size too. I haven't gained any weight or had any cravings since on the pill. However, I have had a couple of days where I would feel sad/moody for no reason and get nausea randomly, but not too bad."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nikki for a week and a half, and it completely messed up my stomach. I am always nauseous, always hungry, and I have been having diarrhea. I also constantly have a weird taste in my mouth that won’t go away no matter what I do. I haven’t been spotting or getting headaches, but I did break out a lot, and I have been very irritable. I cannot wait for this month to be over so I can switch birth controls again."

For Birth Control "I am still on my first month of Yaz (day 20), but as the changes for the better are so obvious, I want to share my experience. Before Yaz, I took Diane 35 for PCOS symptoms for a couple of years. I got so used to being moody and never knowing if the next day would be okay or filled with unexplained anxiety, crying, and, in general, just annoyed about everything. I had started to feel that I am just a difficult, moody person, and I was looking to seek psychological help, as my moodiness started to negatively affect my relationship as well. Due to the high blood clot risks of Diane, I decided to change the pill to Yaz. Within the first week of Yaz, I felt that a cloud had been lifted from the top of my head, and I could see the positive sides of life again. I don't remember if I've been this calm and able to enjoy life during the time of taking Diane. I had some nausea, fatigue, and stomach problems during the first days, but the positive effects on my mental state make all those side effects insignificant."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I've only been taking this for one month for premenstrual dysphoric disorder and haven't even had my first period on it. So far, I have felt generally more level and have found I have more energy. I take it at 10 pm, so any nausea is while I sleep. I have been waking at 5 am, but slowly things are improving on that front. I used to have joint pain with my PMDD, and my knee joints don't hurt anymore. I have gained 2 pounds, but I have also been eating winter comfort food, so it could be that! I plan to exercise now my energy is returning, so hopefully I can start to lose all my pregnancy weight from 2 pregnancies. So far, so good - actually interested to see if my periods are lighter as they were awful before."

For Birth Control "I have been using this pill for 1 week now, this is my first birth control pill I have used. I am 15 and mainly wanted it for my acne, and I had really, really bad cramps and heavy periods. My OBGYN told me to start it on the day I started my period, so I did that. The first day my head felt cloudy, and I felt as if I was high. When I woke up the next morning, I had to run to the bathroom and threw up, mainly just dry heaves. I normally bloat when I'm on my period, but I seem bigger than usual, and my breasts are extremely tender. But other people said it decreased their sex drive, but I feel like it has done the complete opposite for me. My periods normally last for 8 days, and I'm on my 4th right now with little to no bleeding."

For Birth Control "This pill drove me nuts. After starting the first pack, within a few days, I started to feel run down, but I persevered, allowing my body to adjust to it. I finished the first pack, took the break, and then started the second pack. Hell. I was so nauseous, I really thought I was pregnant. My boobs were sore, I was tired... I was starting to get really scared. Additionally, I am a happy, upbeat person, but on Yasmin, I felt sad, like I have never felt before. I could cry at the drop of a hat, I just felt like I was worthless (having never felt that before), and I could see no hope. It was so weird. My boyfriend, who I love dearly, became the most annoying person in the world. I came off it mid-pack, and within days, I was back to myself."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Yaz, but my pharmacy gave me Nikki because it's the brand my insurance would cover. I started on Monday, and by Wednesday, I was having hot flashes, nausea, and diarrhea. I take 10 mg of fluoxetine, and it was as if Nikki cancelled it out. Thursday, I went into a severe depression. I also have very clear skin, and I woke up with cystic bumps and inflammation. I have never had major issues with other brands of birth control, so I did some research and talked to a doctor. Nikki is linked to gastrointestinal issues and can trigger a gastritis episode in someone who already has digestive issues. I have been taking 300 mg of Ranitidine every day since March, and it doesn't seem to be helping since I started Nikki. I have been unable to work the last 4 days. I discontinued use on Saturday. Do not take it, especially if you're prone to digestive issues, anxiety, and depression! I should have considered the negative reviews beforehand."

For Birth Control "I started Yaz for my PMDD. First, it was pretty normal: nausea, headache, and sore boobs. Then the second week hit, and I completely lost my appetite, lost all sex drive, and felt awful mentally and emotionally. I would feel depressed and anxious right when I woke up and would have breakdowns every day in the middle of the day. Once nighttime came, I felt numb and lazy. My PMDD wasn’t good before getting on Yaz, but it was at least manageable. I felt like my reality changed, I didn’t feel normal. I didn’t get my period while on it. I called my doctor to see if these symptoms would persist, and she suggested I wait a couple of months because my symptoms were normal...but later that day, I had a panic attack and decided to get off ASAP. It’s been 3 days since I stopped (was on it for exactly two weeks), and I feel slight relief knowing it was the Yaz that made me feel so awful, but I still have the bad thoughts and anxiety, and my appetite isn’t back. Hoping I feel normal again soon."

For Birth Control "In June, I was diagnosed with PCOS, and my doctor put me on Yaz to help regulate my periods and get rid of my excess facial hair growth. I started taking it at the beginning of July, and it was easily the worst month of my life. I’m 18, and I had never used birth control before. I was expecting the basic side effects, but it was so much worse than that. I have had bad anxiety and depression in the past, but it was always something I felt I could handle. But as soon as I started taking Yaz, everything went downhill quickly. I had anxiety attacks every day, I had no motivation to get off the couch and clean up. It was horrible. I cried every day and even started to feel suicidal. To make it worse, it gave me horrible nausea to the point where I stopped eating for days, and I could barely swallow the pill. My sister said she had a similar experience taking Yaz. I wouldn’t recommend."

For Acne "I was given Loryna for the first time a week ago. I used to have Gianvi, and I enjoyed it. I just started birth control again after having my son and done with breastfeeding. And so far, it's been great. The first day or two, I felt a little nauseous, but not too bad. And I haven't developed any new pimples since I started the pack. My sex drive seems to have gone up! Surprisingly. I like that. No side effects for me yet. So far, so good."

For Birth Control "This is my first month on Yaz, and the first two weeks were horrible. I got REALLY nauseous every day at the same time, but now I feel really good. I don’t feel as irritated or annoyed as usual, and I haven’t gained weight, which I was worried about. If it’s your first month, beware drinking on Yaz, and you feel like rubbish when you drink, but just push through it because it gets better."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "So I am ending my 3rd month of Nikki, and unfortunately I have gained about 10 pounds in the last 2 months. I’m very sensitive to hormone shifts, having PMDD for years, but really, since taking Nikki, I don’t feel any better. I know it can take months for the body to adjust, but I don’t know if I can stick this out any longer. The first 2 months I was nauseous almost every day, now my bloating is out of control, my stomach is always distended and worse right before my period starts. For the past two days I’ve had 2 people ask me if I was pregnant :(( I’m really over it. The only positive is my period went from 6-7 days to 3/4 with moderate bleeding. I still cramp 1-2 weeks before my period starts. It could work for you, but it just isn’t worth it for me at this point. I’m sad about it."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was on Nikki for about 4 months for PMDD. According to my doc, it should've been working by the 3-4 month range. And while it took my period away (yet added spotting) and lowered some symptoms, it really only took away any predictability of my cycle. Instead of knowing exactly when to expect my downturn, I would wake up each day wondering if it would be a good day or a bad day filled with thoughts of suicide, nausea, and panic attacks. When my 4 packs of Nikki were done, I requested Gianvi. I've only been on it a week, but I've noticed significant improvement. My breasts are still VERY tender/swollen, and my acne's still flaring, but I've actually been able to play with my daughter and enjoy it. I've been able to handle my high-anxiety dog without losing my mind. It's not perfect, but to not have the Jekyll/Hyde complex that is PMDD, even for just a week, has been amazing. I definitely intend on continuing with Gianvi for a while. Hopefully it continues improving my quality of life."

For Birth Control "I started taking birth control before I married my husband. I was extremely worried because I have depression and did not know how the pill would affect me. My doctor told me to expect some nausea with the first month or so of taking Ocella, and for that first month or so, I definitely had some nausea, but after that, I have been fine. My acne has cleared up, and I haven't had any unexpected mood swings. The only negative I saw was weight gain, which made fitting into my wedding dress a little more difficult, but it wasn't too extreme. The positive was that I went up to a C from an A in cup size. I have been on Ocella for almost a year and have had a positive experience overall. Especially before I took Ocella, my periods have always been long and painful. Now on it, I have noticed that my periods have progressively gotten shorter, and I have had a lot less pain from cramps."

For Birth Control "I started Yasmin three months ago after having the Implanon (contraceptive implant) for about 5 years. I switched over because I had started to experience irregular bleeding, and just to mention, because a lot of women worry about weight, on that contraception I was both overweight and underweight at different times just due to my eating and lifestyle (I don't think contraception made a difference). So far my experience of Yasmin has been good, I never had acne, but I swear overnight and since starting it, I have not had one more pimple, and my skin has just felt a lot nicer (not too dry, not too oily). I had the initial nausea for about 2 or 3 days and the occasional breast tenderness, but hey, that's to be expected when you are changing your hormones!"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "This birth control at first decreased my appetite by a large comparison to previously used Junel 1/20. I tried this brand for the acne part, since I've seen dermatologists since I was 15 and nothing worked. Now almost 3 months into this brand, nothing has been done to clear my face, I sleep for entire days and am overcome with extreme tiredness. I get severe nausea and throw up at least 3 times a week, and I don't eat as much as I used to. I lost nearly 10 pounds in 2 months. A good thing was it stopped my painful period cramps and I haven't gotten a period since taking the pill. A very slight increase in boob size, but still very tender breasts."

For Birth Control "I would not recommend this pill to anyone. It straight up tried to ruin my life. I've only been on this pill for a month and I had normal side effects for the first week (moodiness, nausea, etc.), but as time went on it just got worse and worse. I started to have major anxiety issues, which is something I haven’t dealt with in years, and it also caused me to have depression that’s gotten so bad in such a short time that my doctor had to put me on antidepressants. I’ve been angry ALL the time for absolutely no reason, it almost ruined my relationship because I would get mad at my boyfriend every single day over the most stupid things, but it was absolutely uncontrollable. This past month I’ve felt like I was going insane. My acne did get better and my period has been a lot lighter, but it’s not worth it. I’d rather bleed for the rest of my days than have to go through that again. Just don’t do it. Spare yourself."

For Birth Control "I'm on Yaz for 18 days now. I struggled with a sudden, constant acne breakout on my chin (hormones). The doctor prescribed Yaz, especially to help with the acne. I am very happy with how the pill improved my skin. I've noticed I can't drink the pill on an empty stomach (otherwise I am really nauseous). The only side effect I experience is the constant swelling of breasts. Some days it's very sensitive, other days not. Yaz works differently for every person."

For Acne "I am currently in my 6th month of taking Yaz, and if I'm honest, my acne has gotten worse. Worse than what it was prior to starting Yaz. I am so disappointed as I went on to Yaz with high hopes. I have cystic acne all around my chin and my forehead, not to mention my skin and hair are oilier than ever, which doesn't make sense as Yaz is supposed to decrease the body's oil production. I am at a point where I am about to seek help from a dermatologist. Aside from Yaz not having a single positive impact on my acne, it has been great otherwise. No nasty side effects such as weight gain, headaches, nausea, etc. I am willing to keep going with Yaz until the new year, but if no change is seen by January, I will be changing pills."

For Birth Control "I started taking Yaz for my extremely painful periods. I got on birth control when I was 14 because my periods were so heavy and painful that I was practically paralyzed for the first two days. I tried a countless number of birth controls and also Nexplanon, which made me gain 20 kilos, got aches for the first time in my life, gave me a nonstop period for three years, and I became very irritable and mean. I got on Yaz to help with my weight gain and emotional issues as well as my painful and long periods, and it seemed to clear up my aches, and I started losing weight, but after taking it for over six months, I’ve started to get little bumps around my chin, and I’m very emotional. My periods are shorter but extremely painful again. And I’m having a lot of nausea when I’m on my period now and have also been experiencing memory loss."

For Birth Control "I have only been on Yaz for 1 week now, though I already feel like it has done wonders. I suffer very badly with PMS, so bad that I can make life-changing decisions within a week of getting my period as well as hating life, not dealing with everyday duties and having zero motivation. I am always active, generally a happy, positive person, though I found as I get older, the worse my symptoms get. I have tried NuvaRing and Implanon, both with bad side effects. With Yaz, I feel a calmness and feel I'm in control. I'm happy again and wake up motivated, so far, the only side effect has been a little breast tenderness and nausea. I'm sure this will pass. I agree each pill is different and for different women, I would definitely recommend!"

For Birth Control "Before Loryna, I was on so many different BC, I tried Lo Lo Estrin FE, Sprintec, etc. I struggled with bad hormonal acne and mood swings. My doctor prescribed Loryna for my acne, and I was hopeful. The first three months were pretty nauseating, and I lost weight, but at about six months, I started to notice a difference in my skin and mood, as well as a big increase in my breast size. I’m currently a year into it, and my skin is perfect, my periods are short and so manageable, my moods are much more leveled out, and I feel great. I had a great experience with this BC and don’t be scared to try it!!"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I was prescribed this for my severe premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I would feel unlike myself for a majority of the month, feeling normal only after I finished my period. Severe depression, mood swings, painful periods, if you know, you know. The first week on Loryna was tough. Stomach aches, nausea, weakness. Switched to taking it at 7 pm instead of 10 am, made a HUGE difference. After about a month, side effects as a whole subsided. I no longer felt my terrible mood swings, no more tender and painful breasts and periods, no more awful body aches, no more irritation and frustration, depression, anxiety! Life changer! I hit my highest in weight at 240 lb. On the pill, since I wasn't stressing anymore and depressed, I made great progress on my weight loss! Lost 20 lbs in 3 months and still counting! I no longer have my awful bouts of sadness, I get a little moody before my period, but it's only a couple of days and it's not severe! So happy with this!"

For Acne "This is the first oral birth control I have tried, and I enjoy it. I have been on it for almost 3 months now. The first month I had some side effects: I had mild nausea, headaches, and super cravings for salty and sweet foods. I started taking this birth control to clear up my acne, I didn't see a difference until after the first pack. I notice a huge difference now, and my face is a lot more clear, but not all the way yet, but it takes time for your body to adjust. My periods have been lighter, and I don't get as bad of cramps. Recently, I have been feeling extra moody and tired, though, which I do not like, but I will wait it out and let my body adjust. Overall, I like it."

For Acne "I have been on Nikki for 3 months now. In the first week or two, I felt nauseous and got headaches a lot. I use it for acne, and at first, it made my acne way worse, but when I was finishing up the second pack, it began to clear up my face. Now my face is pretty clear, but I feel tired all the time and have less motivation to do anything, but hopefully, this will go away. Overall though, I think my experience so far hasn't been too bad on Nikki, at least compared to other brands."
