"I had been off of birth control pills for a year, but I started getting terrible periods. Bad cramps, vomiting, etc. So I made an appointment and was prescribed Nikki. I've been on it for almost two months, but I will be stopping today. At first, I felt fine, but over the past 3 weeks, I have started suffering from depression and anxiety. Bad. I think that birth control affects everyone differently, but seriously watch your mental health if you try Nikki."

For Birth Control "I am just now into my third week of this medicine. The first week, I was nauseous and had a headache and just felt terrible. This past week, I have been so unbelievably irritable. I have three small children and just can't be the moody single mom. I have to be here for my kids emotionally. I have noticed my patience decreased and my anxiety increased. I've been more down than usual. I have ZERO sex drive with my boyfriend, which is completely unusual. And I've also wanted to EAT everything! The main reason for this medication was to regulate my periods because I have a small fibroid. I've noticed a lot less pain from that and no bleeding so far. But I'd honestly rather have that than all these side effects. I do not recommend this medication. It has been awful."

For Birth Control "Took Gianvi for years to regulate period, for acne and migraines, and it always worked great. Then the pharmacy switched to Nikki, and only 10 days in, I think it is a horrible medication, I've become anxious, moody, have weight gain, acne, and insomnia - it is horrible. Don't take this med."

For Acne "I was put on this for my acne after having acne for 10+ years and was on Nikki/Gianvi a little over two years. After a year, I started to feel very sick as if my immune system was attacking itself every single day. I would wake up with a sore throat, was getting sick all the time for a long period of time, and just felt overall so tired and not like a healthy 22-year-old. After spending close to a year seeing doctor after doctor, various blood tests/procedures, the doctors could not find anything. I was convinced I suddenly had an autoimmune disease. After doing immense research on birth control, I discovered it can cause an increased risk of autoimmune diseases, cause nutrient deficiencies, etc. After stopping birth control, I cannot even begin to tell you what a change I have seen. I no longer feel sick on a daily basis, which is insane, and I also have so much energy! This birth control made my acne worse and caused much anxiety."

For Birth Control "So I was recommended for Nikki because my old birth control was very high in estrogen, and it caused dryness and a lot of anxiety problems. Nikki stopped my anxiety from being as severe as it was, however, it is more frequent. Like, my anxiety used to cause chest pains, and that doesn’t happen anymore, but I can feel myself getting anxious all the time. It also didn’t help at all with the dryness. It makes my period last longer (about a week), and it is very sporadic. I could not bleed for a majority of the day, but it’ll randomly come and be heavy. I’m just personally not a fan."

For Birth Control "I'm 22 years old, female, and I started taking Nikki around 3-4 years ago. A little backstory, I was new to taking birth control and started with the NuvaRing, but it made me so anxious and depressed to the point where I had suicidal thoughts. I only then realized it was linked to the NuvaRing. My doctor then switched me to Junel Fe, and that made me bloat so bad and worsened my acne. I then did research and requested to use Nikki/Yaz, which was the best decision I've ever made. I lost weight on Nikki, my acne has gotten better, it prevented pregnancy, and my boobs are more perky! I never experienced any depression on this pill! And for my sex drive, it was low, and I was kind of dry on some occasions, but nothing like the desert. I was still able to get wet. Overall, I recommend giving it a try; it's different for everyone, but it really helped me out. I'm sad to have to change my birth control due to my health insurance changing."

For Birth Control "I've been on Nikki for about 5 months, and I definitely think it has its pros and cons. On the pro side, it literally performed a miracle on my skin. I've had the most stubborn cystic acne for half of my life, and right now my skin is the clearest it's been since age 11. So if you're looking for a birth control to treat acne, I highly recommend this one. (Keep in mind that it took about 2 months of being on the pill to clear up my skin.) On the con side, my anxiety has been pretty out of control ever since I started taking it. I cry a lot for no reason, and I've been experiencing a lot of paranoia (which I've never really had before). I'll keep taking the pill because I'm so amazed at how my skin looks, but be aware that the emotional side effects are real."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "Nikki has improved my life so dramatically. I was on birth control from ages 14 until 27 when I started trying to get pregnant. After my son was born, I decided to stay off the pill and see how I felt. The first year was okay, but then my periods became irregular and I started to have horrible mood swings. I would feel almost euphorically good for a week or so after my period ended and then live in two weeks of nightmare living. (irritability, depression, low energy) I started reading more about PMDD and decided to give this a try. The first three days I had really bad headaches. I have also experienced some nausea and also random increased anxiety, which oddly always seems to happen after eating. Perhaps the anxiety is related to the nausea? Overall, my mood has been much more stable all month long. No highs, lows, or angry outbursts. No weight gain - I think my stomach is actually feeling flatter. I plan to take this for three months continuously."

For Birth Control "I was on Rikka before, and it made me so angry all the time and depressed, so I have gone to my doctor, told her about the irregular moods I had. She had told me Nikki would be a good match for my irregular moods. She said, 'It would help calm the moods down.' I was so excited about it because I wanted to feel normal again. After the first week of taking Nikki, I was calmer, feeling normal. Then, as time has gone by, I have been feeling so bad, depressed, anxiety attacks throughout the day. I will have anxiety attacks six times or more a day, and I will literally cry a lot. When I said A LOT, I MEAN A LOT. I would be more sensitive than ever. The anger I had was so fired up, I would get mad so fast and easier. I really didn't like it. Nikki makes you feel sick, pregnant, bloated, and I would have bad headaches that I wouldn't even process throughout the day. Also, I have been taking Nikki for eight months, and I feel like Nikki changed my whole emotions and me as a person. I thought I was tripping, but it was real."

For Birth Control "I went on Nikki for acne, and it was great for acne, my skin became clear within a few months. For birth control, though, it was the absolute worst. I developed painful stomach problems, I became depressed, and a lot more anxious. It worsened my mood. I recently stopped taking it, and I couldn't believe how much better I felt mentally. I do not recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "I got non-consensually switched from BeYaz to Nikki because my health insurance stopped covering brand name meds, and I was forced to trial 2 generics. I was on BeYaz for 13 years with absolutely no problems or symptoms. After being on Nikki for 6 months, I can attest to this being the worst medication I’ve ever taken, with horrible side effects. I gained 15 lbs, resulting in an autoimmune disorder flare-up, felt emotionally beaten down, incredibly tired, lethargic, my migraines increased by double the amount, and anxiety/depression made their way into the picture, causing me to take myself off of this med. My health insurance refuses to cover a name brand BC, so I will be using a card to get my $278 (out of pocket) BeYaz for $58."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "I took one Nikki pill, and my life went to shambles in three days. I went absolutely crazy emotionally. My anger, depression, and anxiety went through the roof. I usually take .125 of Klonopin as needed for my anxiety - I took 1 mg, and it didn't even help. My PMDD is pretty severe, but this almost ruined me. We'll see how long until I feel normal again or if I cause more emotional wreckage - it's only three days later."
