"Absolutely do not like this birth control, Nikki. Was fine at first, but it slowly made me so anxious and so depressed I could barely function. It made me break out worse than I ever had before, and it made me so bloated all the time. Even when doing everything right, I still couldn't lose weight. Would not recommend."

"I’d been taking Gianvi for years without any issues, then my pharmacy randomly switched me to Nikki. I’ve been using it for the last 2 months, and since I’ve started using it, I’ve had frequent migraines, mood swings, acne, and weight gain. None of these occurred while taking Gianvi."

"I switched to this birth control after being on the generic Yaz for several years. I've since stopped getting a period altogether, and my doctor says this is due to the low estrogen in the birth control. I was very concerned and even got an ultrasound and blood work done, which came back normal. I'm hesitant to switch birth control just to get a period because I'm having no other negative symptoms."

"I was on Nikki for about 6 months before I switched. If I forgot to take my pill at night and then took it first thing in the morning, my period would start and continue for the rest of my cycle, regardless of where I was in the pack. My periods were incredibly heavy, especially during the last few days. Cramping was worse than usual, and I often bled through at night if I didn’t change every few hours. This pill increased my PMS symptoms and left me VERY anxious and paranoid the week before my period started. On the bright side, my acne went away."

"I have been on Nikki since January. Throughout my time on Nikki, I’ve had my period 3 weeks out of the month, gained 15 pounds, and have had more anxiety than I’ve ever had. I have to take my birth control within the same hour every day or else I get my period. I’m not sure if this is normal or not. It’s been 5 months and I’ve had no change. On the other hand, my skin has been clearer than ever before."

"I read the reviews on Nikki before I started it - saw the negative comments but stayed optimistic that it might work for me. After about a week on it, my acne became pretty bad, and I noticed that I was having pretty significant hair shedding, which was awful since I already have very fine hair. Also, this may just be coincidence, but I also noticed extreme fatigue and depression at the same time while on this medication."

"I have been on this birth control for about a year now. I don't know if it's my reaction to it, but I just feel so angry all the time. I've switched birth control many times, but I know it's definitely not the worst I've been on."

"Nikki was great for my acne. My skin was super clear after struggling with cystic acne for years! My period, however, was constantly late and irregular, and my cramps were the worst they’ve ever been. I gained a lot of weight on it too. Didn’t get pregnant, though, so that’s good! Overall, you just have to try it and see if it works for you. I am choosing to move on to a different pill, but am happy with the cleared acne it gave me."

"I just wanted to post this for the ladies who are taking Loryna, and your pharmacy now keeps giving you Nikki. Switch pharmacies and save yourself the time and heartache. I took Nikki for two months and just switched to Walgreens to get Loryna back. My hormonal acne came back, cramps, and I gained weight! I was using it for birth control, but if it’s going to make me a chunky, acne-covered psycho, I don’t think having sex will be an issue. Stick with your Yaz/Loryna, girl!"

"So before I was on Cyred EQ for 4 months. I switched to Nikki because of my cramps. So I noticed my breasts got bigger, I gained 4 pounds in one month, my appetite is just, oh my gosh, I get hungry all the time. I have horrible mood swings. I watched the Grinch movie that just came out, and I was sobbing because the Grinch was being nice to his dog - I'm serious. This birth control is horrible, it didn't help my acne, I noticed more when I got on Nikki. I feel so heavy. I'm switching to Yaz."

"So far I’ve been taking (Nikki) for 2 weeks now, almost 3. So far, so good! The only thing I’ve noticed is feeling nausea during the day. I’ve read that it is normal when starting a new BC pill. I had really bad acne on my back and on my face. I’ve already started to see a difference on my back, and I haven’t been taking even a full month yet. I’m hoping that it continues to do good for me!"

"I started this birth control, and it made me nauseous. I gave it another week. Two weeks in, it gave me diarrhea, and my mood was through the roof. I was always so angry, anything set me off, and I'm normally not like this. It was a horrible experience, but hey, I didn't get pregnant, but maybe because I was a monster on this pill, lol. It works for others, but definitely not for me."

"I have a mostly love/tiny bit of dislike relationship with Nikki. I took it for 6 months, and my acne was not only cleared, but my skin was GLOWING. After 6 months, though, I realized my libido wasn't quite what it used to be, so I stopped taking it. After a few weeks, libido was back to normal, BUT I had started gaining weight, and my acne came back with a vengeance. I just started taking it again after a few months off, and I'm glad I did. Going to try to balance my libido with some supplements instead. Previously, I've been on Reclipsen (which I loved, zero side effects) until they stopped manufacturing it. Then, I had a Paragard for many years, but my body kept forcing it out (too big). Everyone's different, of course! Just my experience."

"I wanted to start a birth control before I got married, so I have been on Nikki for about 4 months now. I feel like a zombie. My mood swings are so bad, and I get extremely irritated over nothing. I start fights with my fiancé for no reason, and I have zero sex drive. I struggle being in social situations because I feel like I’m just going through the motions. I get married in 3 months, and I don’t even feel excited, I don’t feel emotion about anything. It has made me feel like a completely different person, so I’m quitting hormonal birth control entirely. I know people have had good experiences with this birth control, and that’s wonderful, but it just isn’t worth the depression it has caused me."

"My experience is similar to everyone else's. I was on Gianvi for years, but then my pharmacy switched me to Nikki. I’ve been on it 3-4 months now, and I’m happy to say I’m never going back. I became a lunatic on Nikki - strong mood swings, emotional, crying. I’ve been retaining water, and worst of all, my acne is horrible. I had bad acne as a teenager, but when I went on Gianvi, it went away. Now, on Nikki, I can count on having at least 6 cystic pimples on my cheeks (I’ve never broken out on my cheeks before) at any given point in time. Not a good substitute."

"If you don’t want babies, take this. If you want underlying symptoms, do not. I’ve always had anxiety my whole life, but this has made it so much worse. It makes me so unmotivated and slightly more depressed. It feels like a cloud over your head constantly. I was constantly irritable over the smallest things and would have meltdowns and more anxiety attacks. It also made it impossible to lose weight. I would work out for more than an hour every day and consume dangerously low calories and could still not lose any weight. This pill also proceeded to change my body shape— it has made me wider and not able to gain muscle. The only good thing was that my skin was perfect. Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting it, I would say use condoms and Plan B if necessary. If you’re okay with these symptoms, then take the pill, but everybody is different."

"I would never recommend this to anyone. I've never been on BC before but needed to go on it due to sex and painful periods. I’ve had relatively clear skin most of my life and was told this would make it better, but it’s done the opposite. My skin is awful - red, irritated, and bumpy. Not to mention the depression, I can’t remember the last time I was happy. I've only been on the pill for two months, but I'm quitting after this pack. Never in my life have I been a suicidal person, but I'm directly on the edge right now. This pill has probably been the worst thing to happen in my life. Two months ago, I was a ray of sunshine, I was relatively skinny and had great skin. Now, I'm moody every day, depressed as anything, and have the worst skin, and think I may have burned a few bridges. I would stay away from this BC at all costs. At this point, I’d rather be pregnant than dealing with this garbage."

"Ever since starting birth control, I have used Gianvi. I recently switched pharmacies, and the new pharmacy gave me Nikki instead of Gianvi (the new pharmacy is not eligible for Gianvi). After the first week of using it, I have already experienced: - headaches throughout the day - depression/mood swings - weight gain - inability to concentrate/focus - fatigue. I am only on day 6 of this and have already called to switch back to my previous pharmacy so I can get Gianvi again."

"If I could rate this pill with a negative number, I would because I ended up with a blood clot. I have been on Yaz or Loryna for the past 10 years or so with no issues. Two months ago, my pharmacy switched me to Nikki for whatever reason. Within 3 weeks of taking it, I had a pulmonary embolism, and the doctors are fairly certain the cause was my birth control. Nikki is dangerous...don’t take it."

"This birth control is life-changing, both in positive ways and negative. My hormones have completely straightened out more than what I was experiencing prior to starting this birth control back in February. Acne is cleared, the facial hair that has been growing has subsided. However, the negative part of this birth control, at least for me, is how reliant my emotions and mentality are on this prescription. I've forgotten to refill my prescription once, and I was off of the pill for 5 days. I missed 5 days, and I was so crazy, insane, so much crying to my boyfriend, everything was wrong and off for me. I'm definitely more careful with this prescription, and I take it regularly with my other meds every single morning. Just be careful to not miss days! Other than that, this has been the best birth control I've taken so far."

"I’ve been on Nikki for a month, and it is awful. Severe depression, bloating, can’t lose weight, GAINED weight. I missed a single pill, and I’ve been spotting now for a month, and the whole reason I was put on this rubbish was to control my period. I’ve had enough."

"I started Nikki about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I swapped off of Slynd because it was the worst thing to happen to me. My weight has fluctuated so much, so it’s hard to tell if I lost weight, but I definitely feel better about myself. My skin was really bad the first 2 weeks, and I've recently had bad skin, which is why I switched to this pill. Not even one little blemish on my face, and I feel great. It is hard to tell on emotions because my last ones affected them so much, but I am happier. I am hoping to lose weight on this pill instead of gaining."

"I am just now into my third week of this medicine. The first week, I was nauseous and had a headache and just felt terrible. This past week, I have been so unbelievably irritable. I have three small children and just can't be the moody single mom. I have to be here for my kids emotionally. I have noticed my patience decreased and my anxiety increased. I've been more down than usual. I have ZERO sex drive with my boyfriend, which is completely unusual. And I've also wanted to EAT everything! The main reason for this medication was to regulate my periods because I have a small fibroid. I've noticed a lot less pain from that and no bleeding so far. But I'd honestly rather have that than all these side effects. I do not recommend this medication. It has been awful."

"Took Gianvi for years to regulate period, for acne and migraines, and it always worked great. Then the pharmacy switched to Nikki, and only 10 days in, I think it is a horrible medication, I've become anxious, moody, have weight gain, acne, and insomnia - it is horrible. Don't take this med."

"Been on this for 2 days, and I’m so nauseous and terrible headaches. The hour after I took it, my headache started, and today (second day), been nauseous all day. I even want to just throw up and get it out of my system. Ugh, not taking it anymore."
