"I started dextroamphetamine a week ago, and the dose is really wide open, anything from 10 mg to 30 mg or even 40 mg per day. So it feels nice in the morning, I start 'coming down' in the afternoon, and that is when I overdrive into the 30 mg-40 territory. Now I cannot keep this up, it's too much, and I need a benzo every day to calm my nerves. My question to you guys is, is there a settling period (as there are with so many anx/depress meds) where our body gets used to the feeling and there is some relief? A sweet spot? At the moment, I am just getting high and coming down every day. Not good.... Any insight would be great."

Dextroamphetamine "I have been on Dexedrine since 2nd grade, I am now 53. Dexedrine was available since the 60s, that's why I was put on it at the time. Adderall and Ritalin came out in the 90s, and as brand name marketing was intense, prescribers switched over to prescribing these medications instead of Dexedrine. Newer is not necessarily more effective or better. As the prescribing of Adderall and Ritalin became increasingly dominant, it became challenging to find pharmacies that carried Dexedrine in stock, often they would have to special order it, and this process would take several days. Due to this difficulty, my doctor persuaded me to try first Ritalin and then Adderall. In comparison to Dexedrine, I found these two newer medications not nearly as effective and unpleasant to take. If you've ever taken Adderall or Ritalin, they obviously work as stimulants, like coffee, but a lot less 'jittery'. To me, comparing Dexedrine to Adderall is like comparing Adderall to coffee: far less jittery. Try it."

Dextroamphetamine "I hadn't concentrated in 2 years. Zenzedi stopped that. I went through the runaround with popular pharmacies, which 75% prescribe Aurabindo or Teva, and cannot get Zenzedi. I found it at a grocery chain after some calling. The other pharmacies won't sell it because it costs more. I take 15 mg three times; now I can think, and no side effects. This is longer acting than I thought; you just can't up the dosage and get better effects, it has to be gradual. And you're not craving to increase it after some time like most people think. There's no reason to change it, and it wasn't much more than the fake ones either. After some searching, a grocery chain had it for just a bit over the fake generics. It worked, twice as effective. Now I can wake up to a normal day. It is the only or one of a few that are real and authentic. There's no going back; Mallinckrodt is the only generic manufacturer that tries to get it right if I couldn't get Zenzedi."

Dextroamphetamine "I have ADHD, formerly known as ADD. It wasn’t caught until I was about 19 years old, around the same time my mom was diagnosed with it as well. Turns out that it is usually hereditary and is related to neurodegenerative conditions and can actually progress into things like fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and even Alzheimer’s. I have fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome, narcolepsy, suspected multiple sclerosis, but insurance won’t pay for the test, and even now getting symptoms of Parkinson’s. There are only four ingredients in this formulation. They are also free of lactose and gluten, with no generic company that will guarantee. I am lactose intolerant and celiac, so the generic medications would make me very sick. These have far fewer side effects and are almost as good as the original Dexedrine tablets. I can’t put my finger on what exactly is missing, but they are very, very close to being as effective."

Dextroamphetamine "This is AMAZING!!! I don't think I've ever felt this good. Dexedrine makes me feel completely calm, clear-headed, and motivated. I used to be so tired and foggy-brained, and many days were lost to 'recovering' from, well, life. Now I feel like I can do anything I want. I can hardly believe it. I tried Ritalin first and found it to be rubbish - it gave me headaches, insomnia, and mild anxiety, and seemed very unpredictable in terms of effects too. Dexedrine is nothing like that. I have zero side effects - except for some interference with my period. I highly, highly recommend this miracle medication."

Dextroamphetamine "Over the past 10 years, I have been on a variety of different medications to help treat my ADHD. These include Adderall (which was my go-to until recently), Vyvanse, Ritalin, Focalin, and Adzenys. I never loved any of them, but out of that list, I found Adderall the most tolerable. Recently, I read online about Zenzedi and asked my doctor if I could try it. It was a bit of a hassle to find a pharmacy that carried it, but I eventually got a supply for a month. I am so glad I did. This is by far the most effective and side effect free of any/all of the ADHD medicines I have tried. It gives me the focus and motivation headspace that Adderall provides without the amped-up, heart-pacing feeling that makes me uncomfortable and anxious. Also, unlike Vyvanse, it doesn’t last forever, so I have better control over how to time my 2 doses during the day. Overall, an excellent medication!"

Dextroamphetamine "I would give the medication an even higher rating, however, I have one problem, and that is the dose of a single 18mg patch does not produce any noticeable effect on my ADHD. However, two 18mg patches applied at the same time have a very, very good effect without a single noticeable side effect. No jitters, no bruxism, no peaks and valleys at all. However, the pharmacy is fighting with my doctor and refusing to fill his prescription for two patches instead of one patch. This is unfortunate because I have required high doses of all previous ADHD medications-- I simply metabolize them at an extremely high pace and have developed a tolerance after twenty-five years of taking my stimulant medication daily. Before Xelstrym, I was taking two 30mg Daytrana patches, which I am glad I am no longer taking. Daytrana patches are very large and become loose at the slightest increase in body temperature and even slight sweating. Xelstrym patches can be worn while working out at the gym or swimming."

"46 yo female, suffered from severe ADHD since age 3. Strong family history, many generations of ADHD sufferers. Tried many stimulants and alternative choices. Ritalin and (methylphenidate-based meds) turned me into a zombie. Brain was mush, struggled to stay awake, uncontrollable sleepiness. My dosage was adjusted many times through the years, side effects not caused by too high/low of dose. Other stimulants like Adderall and Vyvanse were ineffective, not to mention increased anxiety with Adderall. It's been 2 years since my psych doctor prescribed Dexedrine spansules 15 mg x 2 in the morning with 10 mg IR in the afternoon. It's been amazing, I feel (normal) for the first time. Have no side effects."

Dextroamphetamine "Well, this medication has worked VERY well for my ADHD! It helps me concentrate and makes my mood overall more lifted! I notice energy and a desire to do work and complete tasks instead of being a lazy couch potato like before. Side effects: anxiety, depersonalization, and derealization on this medication sometimes makes you feel like a robot! And heart rate goes up also! But it worked much better than Adderall. Adderall gave me bad anxiety and a higher heart rate! Much stronger and more positive mood from Dexedrine."

"Miracle drug for me, with a few downsides, but positives outweigh negatives by a long shot. I was chronically tired, no motivation, lazy, and not very social. Also had a short temper, anxiety, trouble concentrating, and connecting with people. When I take this, it reverses all of those. I become productive, talkative, happy, relaxed—with energy at the same time, an incredible amount of mental/physical energy, and more control over my emotions. I've been taking it for close to a year now after switching from Adderall because of the tweaky side effects. This stuff makes me feel great, plain and simple, and hasn't changed after a year. Downfalls: physical dependence. A day without it is terrible. And I love to drink, but not good to drink on it."

Dextroamphetamine "I'm taking pharmacy technician courses right now, and I don't know how I could do it without Dexedrine. The course is compressed, and there is a ton of information to take in a short time. I can often tell if I've missed a dose, or it's near time for my noon dose, because I will just plain zone out. Docs tried me on Wellbutrin and Concerta, and those did nothing, so Dexedrine seems the way to go! Really depends on the individual though."

Dextroamphetamine "I have been on Vyvanse, prescribed for over 8 years prior to taking Dexedrine, and it does have a plethora of side effects. Vyvanse caused intense anger and anxiety, and it made me feel different and just zombied out. Dexedrine, to me, is the cleaner version of Adderall and Vyvanse. It is not as intense as both of them and just seems a lot better."

Dextroamphetamine "Been on it for 21 years, being diagnosed at 25. First thing...if you're a man and you're not getting your significant other pregnant...WATCH OUT!! They can finish the swimmers. Being on the same 50 mg can some days be fine or cause me to clench my teeth. It depends on proper eating and stress reduction. They used to give me huge energy to start, but now it's more focusability than anything. Don't get me wrong...these are not a cure for stopping from losing your keys."

"This is the only stimulant that doesn't put me to sleep. I've tried all the other common stimulants. I've had adult ADHD, and I really like the long-acting capsules better than the tablets, I only take it once, and I have continued concentration instead of remembering to take my next dose after 4 hours. Highly recommended if all other stimulants have failed."

"For me, it's smoother than Adderall XR, less of the jitters/jumpy. Been on it for a while, and it's the best I've come across. (Desoxyn made me feel tired/yawn, Adderall gave me jitters and suppressed appetite too much, Ritalin was just bad). At first, just like Adderall, you will experience some back pain and need to drink extra glasses of water for cottonmouth, but after that, it's more normal. I've also found to some extent that taking a magnesium supplement helps to keep the potency alive. As with all of the ADD meds, the potency tends to fade."

"I am now able to focus, not as inattentive. For the first time in 23 years, I am able to read and write without losing interest after a sentence. My brain no longer feels as though it is racing or 'pinging' like a party. I find I am more settled in social situations, and my impulsiveness has reduced 80%. My dosage is 5 mg (first dose) then 2.5 mg every 3 hours thereafter. If I skip my dosage for more than a day, my mind starts wandering, and I am severely inattentive, and by day 2, my brain and body feel so full of energy I just want to be a menace and scream at everything whilst running a marathon (except I'd get bored of running after 2 minutes, ha ha). I wish I had not gone untreated for so long as this medication has saved my life."

Dextroamphetamine "I was on Adderall at 9, it worked okay. Then I was taken off treatment until the age of 19. I've been on it for a couple of weeks. I can tell that my focus is starting to get better, and I notice that when I do certain chores around the house, I do them to such depths and extremes."

Dextroamphetamine "Extremely beneficial and helpful to this day. Not only does it actually help me focus, therefore lowering my level of anxiety, I get so much more done, and I quite frankly do not notice unpleasant effects when it wears off. A fringe benefit is that it does suppress my appetite and I tend to overeat."

"I've been on 15 mg-25 mg a day of this since I was in 4th grade. I'm now a junior in college. Days I don't take it, I can sit for hours doing nothing, and entire days go by. With this, I get things done. A big problem is when you don't take it for a while, you binge eat."

"I’ve been on Zenzedi for over a year. 20 mg twice a day, brand name. It’s really changed my life. I went on Adderall for 1 month to see if I liked it better and tried Ritalin, and both were garbage in comparison. This medication makes me want to get up in the morning and start working on homework. I clean, study efficiently, and just function better. In the past year, my GPA has risen to above 3.0, and my critical thinking abilities have skyrocketed. Naturally, long-term use of any amphetamine is scary, but I see my therapist every couple of months and all is okay so far!"

"I am a 56-year-old, 200 lb Caucasian male who started on ADHD medicines back in 1995. I've tried others, but dextroamphetamine has always worked the best. The only side effects I have noticed over time are occasional grinding of teeth and insomnia if I take a dose too late in the afternoon. I think that over time it has changed the way I think, but it is hard to know exactly how and what to do to the normal effects of aging. I am happy with the medication and can recommend it as treatment for ADD/ADHD."

"Took this one a long time ago. It was a great medication. But I remember, even 12 years ago, it was getting hard to find. So I switched to Adderall. Started having seizures while on this medication. Then I took modafinil, it worked well but for a short time. Then Vyvanse for 2 years. This medication was causing me some health problems. Dexedrine, I wanted to try again. This is a good medication. It was 12 years ago. I can get going and do what's important and get things accomplished. This works for me."

"I had to search to find a doctor willing to prescribe this because it is excepted from most malpractice insurance policies, and the doctors are afraid they might get sued if something bad happens. So much better than Adderall, which is a joke, and it's cheaper. No side effects for me either going on or off the medicine, but my ability to concentrate again is amazing."

"I was diagnosed with ADHD at 8. I was on Adderall from 13-15. And it worked very well for me, but you know as a teenager you experiment with weed and I failed my drug test and got pulled off of it abruptly. I got terrible withdrawals and was very depressed. I tried medication like Concerta and Lexapro, but they didn't work. I gave up on medicine and didn't try anymore for years. I fell behind in school, I had severe anxiety and depression, and had no motivation to even get out of bed. I finally saw a specialist who prescribed 10mg dextroamphetamine. I am prescribed to take it twice a day as needed. I can finally focus on my schoolwork, I can get out of bed in the morning and look forward to the day again. My anxiety has been the lowest it's been in years. The only downfalls I see at the moment are a little bit of an increased heart rate about 30 minutes after I take it, but it goes away within an hour or so. And it has raised my blood pressure, but not to such a height that I should be concerned."
