Dextroamphetamine "My experience is limited since I have only been on this medication for a few days. I am a medical resident, diagnosed with ADHD at 32. Got sick and tired of my mediocre performance at work. Tried Strattera, Viibryd, and Wellbutrin, nothing worked. Just started on Dexedrine 5 mg 2-3 times a day. My first day on it, I studied all day until midnight. I was so motivated, I felt great, on top of the world, I was so driven. I noticed an immediate difference in my performance at work, and it made me nicer, less cynical. The bad thing was insomnia, teeth clenching, some nausea, decreased appetite, and the drop in my mood once it wore off. I am worried about intolerance, which is driving up my anxiety level."

Dextroamphetamine "I just switched from Daytrana to this because the Daytrana started giving me some nasty health side effects I couldn't live with anymore. Xelstrym, however, was so smooth and it crept through my skin with a small burn but lasting effects. I have severe ADHD and get tired easily when I take my ADHD meds, so I was pretty tired after 3-4 hours of applying it. When I say tired, I just mean my mind wasn't racing about 100 billion things, and I could actually sit down and think about one topic, like a normal human, without babbling myself through 90 different topics before I am done speaking. I still have yet to take it off (at about 5 hours in), but I wanted to leave my thoughts here... Always take breaks from these meds, guys, because they do mess with your dopamine, serotonin, and other happy brain chemicals. If you don't take a break, you will have a lot harder time stopping these meds when you will eventually have to."

Dextroamphetamine "I have struggled with ADD for years and was put on a moderate dosage of Ritalin in high school. But it gave me anxiety like you wouldn't believe. I ignored my ADD after high school and started Dexedrine in college. What a difference! It helps me to focus much better and gives me the energy to finish what I start. My procrastination has never been lower. I only give it a 9 because I sometimes need to make myself focus when the meds are an hour or two from wearing off."

Dextroamphetamine "Hyperfocus (controlled, feel in control of my thoughts) - Anxiety decrease - focus increase - able to do tasks I otherwise wouldn't be able to do - normal hunger/not feeling nauseous after eating (I do become nauseous with most medications) - Feel as though I'm not alienated (I feel alienated like I'm dumb or something is wrong with me most of the time, which is not the case with dextroamphetamine/dexedrine tablets) - makes the anger and rage disappear - train of thought to any topic or task I choose (no more disturbing intrusive thoughts) - effects last entire 4-5 hour duration - helpful overall."

Dextroamphetamine "I have currently been taking Dexedrine spansules for 16 years, 90 mg a day. ADHD had ruined my life up until I was 36 years old. Now, all the standard symptoms are under control and have been since I started the medication. I would personally check with a good doctor if you are suffering with this disorder."

Dextroamphetamine "I take the 30s, and the name brand and generic are the exact same pill from the same production lines as the name brand. I was told by Azure Pharmaceuticals. The difference in cost per pill is 8 dollars vs. 7 for the generic. I have had to take the 15s due to the 30s being out of stock, and the 15 mg is the exact same pill, there is no difference at all. So I'm not sure why people say they are different. It's the most effective dose for me but requires taking them four times a day due to me being a rapid metabolizer of amphetamine-based stimulants. I was on the original brand name Dexedrine until it was discontinued in 2006 by GlaxoSmithKline. This isn't quite as helpful as Dexedrine 5 mg tabs used to be, but a close second."

Dextroamphetamine "Taken for 8 years and worked great. But in 2020, original manufacturer Wilshire was bought by Arbor Pharmaceuticals, and the original 10 mg was no longer available. Arbor changed the color from pink to yellow-brown, and it doesn't work. Recently, was able to get pink 10 mg only in the quantity of 30 jars (100 counts no longer available), and though it looks exactly like the earlier 10 mg (same color and script), it doesn't work near as well. It no longer gives me energy and takes 2.5-5 hours to kick in vs. the previous version that kicked in immediately. The current 10 mg pink version, which looks like the pre-2021 version, doesn't work near as well as the original, but it is much less expensive. I believe this new 10 mg pink Zenzedi is a cheaper generic version that they are passing off as the original. The original 10 mg was much more expensive than the current version, which looks identical, and the original 15 mg is also much more expensive."

Dextroamphetamine "I have been on about 100 mg of Dexedrine for over 20 years, and it always worked great until a few years ago, when my drug company stopped sending me the TEVA generic. I never had problems with generics before, but the Activis brand did nothing for me. I was told that TEVA was made by the same drug manufacturer that makes the name brand, so I paid extra for the name brand, and that does not appear to be working either. I have been told that TEVA no longer makes Dexedrine, so I am not sure what I should do. Also, I was told that the FDA no longer allows doses over 60 mg, but I am not sure that is true. It could be my insurance company does not want to pay for more than a standard dose."

"So far, 15 mg 3 x a day has really improved my focus and impulsivity. I suddenly realize when I'm distracted and actually have a choice to do what I need to over focusing on random things I'm distracted by. I no longer go to the store for one thing and come back with 48 things, forgetting the item I went in for, or lose my keys 5 x a day. I don't ramble as much, or at least am aware of it when I am rambling. On days I don't take it, I see a massive difference. I'm so happy I can live a less stressed, more happy existence."

Dextroamphetamine "Was switched from Adderall XR to generic Dexedrine. I got an ineffective brand of Adderall (yes, some brands are better than others). The positive effects were gone and the negative effects were enhanced. My blood pressure was great, around 102-117 systolic and 75-85 diastolic, but my pulse was way too high, 110-130. For the most part, I loved Dexedrine, it worked very well, and without the L-Amphetamine in Adderall, my pulse rate was good, 85-102. My only complaint was that the length of time it worked was inconsistent. Some days it would last 45 minutes, other days it would last 2 hours. After speaking to my psych doc, we decided to switch to Vyvanse instead of having to take 3 or 4 Dexedrine pills a day. Other than the length of duration, this is great."

Dextroamphetamine "When it first came on the market, I tried it, and it was great. Way better than Adderall. Super focused. Best ADHD drug I ever tried. Then I lost insurance and couldn't be on it for a while and finally used their coupon program and tried Zenzedi years later, and that spark was gone. Same name brand, but no longer worked at all, and I ultimately had to go back to Adderall."

Dextroamphetamine "This medication has helped me tremendously and is night and day from generic Adderall in effectiveness for me. My two complaints would be recently in December 2021, I've had trouble with my Zenzedi 30 mg getting to the pharmacy due to a backorder. It has interfered with my treatment, and I didn't realize how effective this medicine was until I went back to generic Adderall. It has been a very underwhelming change, to say the least, and on top of it, my doctor wrote the prescription for the same mg of generic Adderall as I was on for Zenzedi and can say anyone that has experienced this knows they are not near equivalent per mg. Second complaint: I recently was laid off from work and lost my insurance that had me at a $30 copay for my medicine. Well, no problem. I remember the savings card through Arbor Pharma said cash-paying patients pay no more than $75, well, how dishonest that was."

Dextroamphetamine "This was far superior to generic. Gluten-free. No anxiety, no crash, provides me with flexibility with the time of dosage. Not quite as effective as the old Dexedrine instant release tablets, but very close. No side effects other than slight dry mouth."

"Recently diagnosed with adult ADHD. Prescribed dextroamphetamine 3 x per day at 10 mg. Because I suffer extreme anxiety and an active racing mind with various clusters of thoughts going on at any given time, I was anxious about taking this medication, thinking it would amplify it all. Taking this medicine has helped slow the mind to a point I can pick and choose what I allow myself to think about. I feel so much more in control, which is amazing. There is a level of anxiety still, but it's manageable and not overwhelming like it was before taking dextroamphetamine. I feel like I am the driver of my mind and not the passenger anymore. It has helped to regulate my emotional instability. I am also on 100 mg of Pristiq, which seems to complement the overall effect."

"At 53, and two weeks ago I was diagnosed with ADHD after my 23-year-old son was diagnosed with ADD and questions being brought up about my ADHD behaviors. The last two weeks have been the best and most peaceful of my life. Over so many years, I have developed ways to deal with my advanced ADHD, but I always felt like I was living on top of life and not within it. Most of my day was pushing against unknown anxieties, constant head noise, and almost unnatural abilities to work within chaotic events. Probably because my whole being was a chaotic mess. Just 2 weeks and oh, the joy of peace, but still with energy. Oh, the ability to think on one subject at a time without locking into super hyper-focus, shut out the world mode. Did I say oh, the peace?"

"It's quite effective at helping you focus. It's smooth sailing. As long as I eat something small while on it or a few small meals, I won't get any changes in my mood, which I have gotten many times due to not eating. Sometimes, though, I'll hyper-focus on one task at hand as opposed to everything I have to do throughout the day. I have to say it's one of the best stimulants, though, and I have not gotten any side effects when I didn't take it for a few days."

Dextroamphetamine "This medication works really well for helping me feel more focused, and more energized as well. I don't feel sleepy while taking this medication, which is good because part of the reason I started taking it was due to excessive sleepiness that wasn't caused by any other medical problem. The slow-release capsule kept me awake for too long, so I didn't sleep so well at night though, so I switched to the short-acting version of this medication, and now I can be very alert for about 6 hours from one tablet of the short-acting tablet, and if I need another one, I can have one, but I usually don't take two in a day because I don't feel I need more than that. I do find that it makes me feel more confident, happy, and outgoing. It certainly helps me be more awake and attentive."

Dextroamphetamine "It works well, strong enough at 20 mg, only lasts as long as Adderall. Needs to be redosed later on in the day. I feel that it has more focusing power than Dexedrine spansule 15, Ritalin IR 20, or Adderall IR 20, however, I notice some serious clenched jaw and an urge to grind teeth even into the next day while not taking it. It’s strong and effective, however, I would also like to mention the feeling of withdrawal from 1 day of this medication reminds me of the withdrawal of months on Adderall. It’s definitely a great medication, and I remember thinking it has fewer side effects and greater consistency than generics. I would also like to add I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD since I was 7 and have been on most every ADHD medication, and even with the record of this, my insurance continues to deny covering this medication, even after countless phone calls."

Dextroamphetamine "I have tried all the ADHD medications for my ADD, including Vyvanse, Adderall XR, Adderall, Concerta, and Focalin. Dexedrine 15 mg has been the way to go for me! Not too strong like the others, and helps me get my work done. Great medication, I was on Adderall XR 30 and felt like I couldn’t breathe. Definitely don’t recommend the others, as they were too strong and quite costly, as there were no generics available. Definitely recommend Dexedrine 15 mg!"

"Dextroamphetamine IR (or Zenzedi) is hands down the best ADHD medication I have ever been prescribed. I've been on and off stimulants since middle school (25 years old now) and have tried every medication besides Focalin and Desoxyn. Zenzedi is wonderful because not only does it manage my symptoms much better than Adderall, for example, it also does so with absolute minimal side effects. It doesn't destroy my appetite, it's easier to get to sleep at night, it doesn't make me irritable or agitated, and I'm much less jittery and sweaty (as a result of more CNS stimulation and less PNS). I can also achieve the same effect with a lesser amount of medication (2 x 10mg IR vs. 1 x 30mg XR and 1 x 10mg IR). Zenzedi is also surprisingly affordable if you can find a local pharmacy that keeps it in stock. It only ran me $90 before my insurance would cover it vs. $200 for Adderall at Walgreens, which usually won't even have Zenzedi in stock. 100% recommended."

Dextroamphetamine "Been taking the 10 mg Spansule Dexedrine for 2 weeks now. Excellent focus and a lot more motivation than before. Minimal side effects after the first couple of days. No real come down for me. I also take 10 mg Cipralex at night with no issues. Spansule kicks in about an hour after I take it and starts to fade off about 4-5 hours later."

"30 years old, had ADD my whole life and never tried anything for it, except for an Adderall XR 30 mg once for studying and an Adderall 30 mg tab for studying as well (XR kept me focused and tab didn't work). I just ended my first 5.5-hour dextroamphetamine high and highly recommend it! Things that normally bothered me, like sounds (I also have S4) or my kids misbehaving, didn't bother me at all. The background emotions that would constantly distract me under stress were gone. I was focused, calm, felt a bit high/numb, and thirsty. I must have drank a gallon of water and peed 4 times. It kicked in about 40 minutes after taking it and lasted about 5.5 hours. Gradual onset and gradual come-off. Got a lot of studying done and retained the info."

"Amazing medication that should be doctors' FIRST CHOICE in prescribing a person with ADHD. I have been on every prescription under the sun, from Ritalin to Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta. They all had HORRIBLE side effects causing me high anxiety, and I also suffer from PTSD, so you can imagine the struggle. I'm a mother of 3 kids, work part-time, and own a successful business. Without Dexedrine, I doubt I'd be as successful. It's a miracle drug."

"Prior to beginning taking two 30 mg Zenzedi a day, my life consisted of a boring, monotonous, and downright annoying daily drudgery, which some refer to as work. However, now, four months later, I'm buying a house, I have a better job in the same field, which I absolutely love, I'm beginning to budget my money, and daily I plan for the future. Rather than living paycheck to paycheck and seeing no end in sight, I now have a foolproof plan to pay my bills on time and have enough left over to unashamedly spend on nonessentials. In short, my life has taken a turn for the best since starting this medication. Prior to this, I never believed that any pharmaceutical could help anyone at all, but now, I see that I was just young and foolish."

"I have been taking dex on and off for 21 years. Since I was young, I lived in a haze. I didn't have the drive to undertake the most basic activities. I was also depressed. This haze stayed with me until I was 15 years old, when I was first prescribed dex. My mood went from sullen to elevated, and my ability to focus was there for the first time in my life. The school term that I commenced dex, I duxed my year in chemistry. I am very happily married with 1 happy child so far. I take 7.5 mg per day. I have no sugar or gluten in my diet. A point of this advice is to take holidays from dex and to take it with acetyl-L-carnitine as it inhibits any cortisol overproduction, a side effect of dex. You will likely be very grateful for this synergy."
