For Birth Control "Been taking this for about three months now, haven’t had any major side effects. At first, I was super hungry and definitely moody, but it’s all passed now. I skip the placebos and continue active pills to skip periods, and the only problem is I had spotting for almost three weeks straight. Nothing heavy, but enough to have to wear a panty liner at times. Really interfered with my sex life for a while, which was frustrating."

For Birth Control "This pill is overall good. It made me have perfect skin, lighter and shorter periods, etc. It also made my breasts grow two sizes, and they would be very tender a lot of the time. But the bad outweighed the good. I was very moody, when I was PMSing, people couldn't be around me. It made me cry over everything. Also, I couldn't drink! Even after one shot or a glass of wine, I would feel very nauseous and immediately throw up. I didn't think it was the pill at first, I was on it for over a year, but then when I got off of the pill, I was able to drink again normally and wouldn't throw up at all...so I had an alcohol intolerance because of the pill."

For Birth Control "I haven't taken any BC in 5 years since the birth of my daughter. Before that, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, which was great, and I never had any symptoms. My doc recommended Reclipsen since it's the same amount of hormones each day, and the other one I mentioned has different hormone levels each week. I've been on this pill a total of 2 weeks, and I feel nauseous, no appetite, exhausted, stomach cramps, boobs are sore, and weak. I get a weird chest pain sometimes, and my anxiety is crazy high. I also feel so moody. Everything bothers me, and sometimes I feel like I can't breathe. My face has been breaking out more than when I wasn't taking the pill. I AM NOT TAKING THIS PILL ANYMORE! I barely feel bad side effects like this with medications."

For Birth Control "I would like to add my experience with taking Azurette. I have taken it for 4 years, and it is honestly a great option. I had normal period flows before getting on birth control (7 days), but severe cramps. Azurette completely relieved me of cramps, and my periods were lighter (3-4 days). Here's why I can't give it a 10: I do feel more moody - not bursting into tears every other day, but slightly more snappy/angry/sensitive to things that otherwise wouldn't bother me so much. I've had to learn to control that, but it's annoying. Sex drive over time has decreased - but I'm also a lot more stressed since starting my career (I'm 26). Lastly, I decided that worrying about daily pills is also annoying."

For Birth Control "I've been on Kariva for 7 years now and have loved it! I used to have the worst periods ever, going through tampons and pads every hour, but now my periods are light and less painful. Sure, I get moody once a month, but I am a person, right? But everyone is different, and this pill has always worked for me."

For Birth Control "I gave it a rating of 5 for its effectiveness in preventing pregnancy. I only do the withdrawal method with this. But the side effects are so awful. Possibly the worst I've had with any brand. It is quite potent, I'd tell you that. I get a lot of headaches, nausea, and stomach discomfort for a week into starting a new pack, decreased libido, and in the beginning, I'm quite dry, which is, uhm, I've never been an issue for me. I get so moody, stress is harder to deal with, I get anxiety attacks, I get so easily fatigued, and the combination of these two I just get so unmotivated to do daily activities. It's pretty bad. I'm changing brands on my next cycle. Maybe a milder combination OCP."

"I started taking this about 3 years ago. At first, it was great. For about a year, things were wonderful. No headaches, anxiety, or moodiness. I take it continuously due to headaches and fatigue. I am a very active person, walking and weightlifting 7 days a week. I weighed 131 when I started on the pills, now up to 166, and no matter what I do, I seem to just keep gaining. My moods, anxiety, fatigue, and headaches are worse now than before starting the pills. We have bounced around with doses, and nothing helps. I CONSTANTLY spot. Acne is horrible on my face, chest, and back. My skin on my cheeks down to my neck has changed colors, gotten darker. I know a lot of people have great reactions with this med, but it seems when you get side effects from it - you get them ALL."

For Birth Control "I have been experiencing headaches, and before using Ortho-Cept, I rarely got headaches. I've also experienced dark spotting for two weeks leading up to my period. I'm very moody now and am very easily frustrated. I get tired as early as 8 at night now (before the pill, I could stay up until 2 a.m. if I even went to sleep) and am no longer a morning person. I'm hungry more and am gaining weight, but luckily in the right places. My breasts are noticeably growing. My libido has also increased, and I'm not pregnant, so it's working okay."

For Birth Control "Pros: Worked great as a birth control & light periods. Cons: Completely killed my libido, I've always had migraines, but I got them much more frequently with this pill, I gained weight, & made me moody. I've been on this pill for 9 months. I was hoping things would get better, but they are not, so I am discontinuing use."

For Birth Control "I love Apri! I took it for a year, then I got selfish and switched to Jolessa because I wanted to have fewer periods. On Jolessa, I had week-long or longer, super irregular periods. I would get breakthrough bleeding at the most random times and gained about 15 pounds. It almost destroyed my relationship, I was so moody and depressed. I switched back to Apri in January, and already my periods are back to regular, predictable, and short. I have had almost no breakthrough bleeding, no weight gain, and no problem with weight gain. It's an incredibly effective and beneficial pill."

For Birth Control "I switched to this birth control from Gildess Fe 1/20 (it made me depressed, intensified my anxiety, and I was having two periods a month). At first, I was skeptical from initial water retention and moodiness, but after the first month was over, all those initial issues disappeared."

For Birth Control "I’ve only been on Viorele for a few months. I would recommend this brand only for period regulation. Other than that, NOTHING ELSE! When taking this birth control, I have been nothing but tired, had loss of appetite, moody, and have had the lowest sex drive EVER! Most importantly, if you have a history of depression (DO NOT TAKE). I’m going to be done with my last pack starting tomorrow. I will also be contacting my doctor for other BC methods, or I might try some natural remedies to jump-start my period. But just keep in mind, at the beginning of your period, when using this BC, your emotional and mental health will be AT AN ALL TIME HIGH! Good luck."

For Birth Control "Took Viorele for 2 months, and I had to stop. Started taking the pill when my period started, and my period went on for 4 weeks (medium bleeding). I also got nauseous after taking the first pack. Nausea and long bleedings stopped with the second pack. However, with the second pack, I was very moody, I had this uncontrollable anger, and being so angry made me cry so much. Planning to switch to a lower dose pill. Being off the pill for 2 weeks, I can feel the difference. Even my boyfriend notices. I feel like I am no longer angry and moody all the time."

For Birth Control "I started this when I was 13, for heavy period relief. Pros: no weight gain, shortened my period from 7-8 to 4-5 days. Cons: before Reclipsen, I never had cramps, moodiness, or really any period symptoms or PMS. Although my period lasted for 7-8 days and was very heavy, it was honestly pretty easygoing. After I began Reclipsen, my period was shortened to 4-5 days, but it took about 3 days of active pills for it to start and two of my inactives for it to stop. This hasn't stopped. I started getting cramps, moodiness, and extremely bad PMS. I used to act no different on my period than off, but since starting Reclipsen, it's been much worse."

For Birth Control "I've taken this birth control for 6-7 months now, and have been happy with my experience. At first, it definitely affected my mood and made me noticeably more irritable than before. However, I stuck with it and my mood has improved. It cleared my skin, and my acne is more controlled than it has been in years. It eliminated almost all cramps that come with my period, and my period is much shorter than before. It has also been effective in preventing pregnancy. All around, I've been happy with Reclipsen. If anything, my only complaint would be a slight rise in moodiness that has been manageable with time."

For Birth Control "This has been a terrible experience for me. I've been on Apri for about a year, and at first, had no major complaints. My periods were still 2 weeks long, but they had always been. Over the past 6 months, my periods have been miserable. Emotionally, I'm a wreck, I cry all the time about everything. I feel like a crazy person, but at the same time, have no control over the crying. I'm constantly moody and irritable. I sweat like crazy when I have my period and often feel like I'm going to pass out. My periods still last 2 weeks, one light week followed by a heavy week. I never had clear skin, but this pill has only made it worse. I would not recommend and will be changing within the week so I do not have to experience another month like this."

For Birth Control "I've been on Kariva for 5 months now and am looking to switch. I get my period the third week of pills for several days, and then again the fourth week as a full period. Both sets of periods I get come with cramps, bloating (and several pounds of weight gain, which disappears once my period is over), and moodiness. When I asked my doctor to switch initially, she suggested I wait several months, as sometimes these effects subside, but mine have not."

For Birth Control "I was on Cyclessa for three years. At first, it was great, it took care of my cramping that I had a week before my period. The bad news is I was very moody, no sex drive, and had a vaginal itch. I switched to Beyaz, and it all stopped, and life is great."

For Birth Control "I had previously been on the patch, but I decided to switch to the pill because I didn't like how visible the patch was. I was prescribed Cyred, and BOY, did that take a downhill turn. I assumed my body wouldn't have trouble adjusting since I had already been on BC for a while. I started taking Cyred, and immediately I had random nausea, but nothing too horrible. I was getting a little moody too, crying more and noticing I was getting sad more often...but then it got worse. I have never struggled with depression before, but about 3 weeks into this pill pack, I was feeling severely depressed. It started interfering with my day-to-day life so much that I just stopped taking the birth control in the middle of a pack. I know it is different for everyone, but this pill caused me to have a really rough patch in my life for a couple of months. Yes, it does its job in preventing pregnancy, but along with that can come serious side effects."

For Birth Control "I switched to Kariva about 1.5 years ago to help with breakthrough bleeding that I was experiencing with the prior birth control. For a few months, my period was light and only 3 days long and was expected during the inactive week. I would say I did notice that this medication made me more depressed before my period was coming, and I did gain around 8 lbs. After taking this medication for a longer time, I experienced breakthrough bleeding earlier and earlier, to the point where I ended up having a heavy two-week period as well as longer bouts of moodiness and cramping. I do experience a lot of bloating and gassiness. I have decided that I need to try another type of medication. This was great for the months that it worked properly for getting my period on time, but I could not imagine continuing this."

For Birth Control "Apri has been my first and only birth control experience; it has been pretty fine, but I'm considering switching to see if there's anything that works better for me. Pros- ~Little to no acne! (better than before I was on it) ~Light periods of 4 days during the sugar pill week (prior to the pill they used to be 6-7) ~My boobs inflated a little, went up a cup size ~No weight gain! (managed to lose 10 lbs- that was through diet & exercise though) ~Minimal cramping Cons- ~3-4 really heavy days of bleeding during the 2nd week regularly. Maybe it's just a me problem, I don't know. ~Have been super depressed, anxious, and moody, but who knows if the pill is the cause or my life in general ~Sex drive dropped a ton ~Blood pressure rose ~Slight nausea during period"

For Birth Control "I was on Apri for 5 months. I would get migraines periodically with aura before taking birth control, so I was curious to see how it would help those. This birth control made me horrible. I was very moody, depressed, lacked energy and motivation to the point where I rarely felt like going to work, and I felt bloated a lot. I gained weight, got more cellulite, and overall poor digestion. A few cycles I also would get abdominal cramps around the time I’d be ovulating, and I had low and mid-back pain a lot. My periods were very heavy— leaking through a super plus tampon in 2-3 hours, and they still lasted 4-5 days. I took 4-6 pregnancy tests throughout these months because I thought I was pregnant even after a withdrawal bleed— all negative. It prevented pregnancy, and my skin looked good, but I had so many negative side effects. The final kicker for me was 4 migraines in the first week of the pack my last month on this pill. Too much for me, so I’m switching to a different pill."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I've taken. I got really nauseous from it the first day. My breasts have gotten larger, and I took it the day of my period, and it only lasted for 2 days. I have been pretty moody as well, but I think it's all just my adjusting to the pill."

For Birth Control "My doctor believed I might have endometriosis, so first I was put on the Depo shot. I gained 10 lbs in a month and a half! I bled for three months straight. So I went back to my doctor and she put me on Apri. I was excited to hopefully stop bleeding and potentially lose the weight I gained. I stopped bleeding for a week and I’ve been going on bleeding for week five now. Not spotting. Bleeding. I am super nauseated, extremely moody and emotional, unbelievably hot and sweaty, crazy tired, and have zero sex drive. Oh, and how could I forget my cramps?! Which are crippling and leave me literally crying on the floor. I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, and I can’t wait to change to hopefully something better."
