Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I have been using Kariva for five months now, and it's been pretty good. I had some itching, mood swings, spotting, and lowered sex drive in the first two months. After the first three months, all the side effects were gone, and I've been feeling great with the pill ever since. I had no weight loss or gain and overall good health. Just wanted to share."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I have been on this medication for about 5 to 6 months. And it works great for birth control. Even if you miss a pill or two by a little bit, you're still protected, and it doesn't affect your period. But ever since I got on the pill, I'm not myself. I'm constantly depressed and get bad mood swings. And I have literally no sex drive whatsoever."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I’m 35. I was prescribed Isibloom before beginning IVF. This is the first birth control that I ever had. My experience is just bad! On pill 3, I started having mood swings and what’s worse, I felt like having pressure in my throat (after 6 hours of taking the pill) - all that continued for like 10-12 hours. On day 4 of the pill, I went crazy - uncontrolled aggression, and started having difficulties breathing. Day 5 - I could not sleep, choked. On day 6 of the pill, I had a sleepless night with heart pain and pain in the back (in the area of the heart or lungs). Today, day 7 - I stopped the pill, I cried the whole morning and decided to stop taking the pill. Other side effects were weight loss (4 pounds in 6 days), no appetite, aggression, crying, insomnia, depression, being scared of everything around. It’s horrible for the first experience. But I thought I would let others know. Of course, we are all unique, and maybe what did not fit me will be good for others."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I'm on my 3rd pack, and so far, it has been GREAT! I've tried Ortho-Tricyclen Lo and Alesse in the past, and both made me feel super emotional and like I was PMSing. I feel like I normally do while taking Reclipsen, and I've noticed that I've dropped some weight as well. I do have polycystic ovarian syndrome, so it may be because my hormones are getting regulated with the pill. Another thing I've noticed is that my breasts have grown a bit larger. I am now wearing a D cup instead of a C. My breasts were a bit sore the first 6 weeks, but not anymore. But so far, so good!"

For Endometriosis "I have been on the pill (continuous pill) from the age of 22 until 37 for very bad endometriosis. The pill was a miracle for me, but then at 37, because I was scared of having phlebitis/thrombosis because of someone telling me horror stories, I stopped taking it. It was the worst decision of my life. A few weeks after stopping the pill, I started having a nervous breakdown, was having panic attacks like never before, my anxiety was crippling, I started to get depressed, I started to have really bad acne, my skin was greasy, my periods were back in full force, heavy and painful as anything. I was a mess, but thank God no phlebitis. Doctors tell you about the risk of taking the pill, but they do not tell you the risk to stop taking it after a long time. I went back on it after I had a talk with my doctor, who told me that some girls/women can experience very bad depression, anxiety, and bad mood swings when they STOP taking it. I wish I knew about that. Anyone else experienced that? (Like if yes.)"

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I just started my third month of Kariva. I switched from Junel Fe 1/20. Before, I would get insane mood swings and depression. On Kariva, my mood is balanced as long as I take it at exactly the same time every day. I haven’t noticed any weight gain or change in my sex drive. I had a horrible migraine the first day I took it; after that, it’s only happened one other time. My periods last 3-4 days and are light. The only side effect I can’t stand is that I can’t sleep. I have trouble falling asleep and, once I do, I wake up throughout the night. I’ve been dealing with that for two months, and I’m trying to hold out and see if it gets better because it is a great pill otherwise."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I just started this, and right now I am on the period pills. I feel horrible and have felt horrible since the very first pill. Legit nausea all the time to the point where I was waking up once or twice a week around 4 am throwing up (I tried to take it around 12-2 with food every day to maybe avoid this). I also experience uncomfortable bloating really bad when I haven’t even eaten much to be bloated. I haven’t even been eating much period because I’m nauseous all the time. Add mood swings, sadness, anxiety, and headaches to the mix too. I just feel so awful and not myself, so I DO NOT recommend this pill! I hope it gets out of my system ASAP!"

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "When I first started it, I got really emotional and would get irritated easily, but that all subsided after the first month or so. No weight gain, no acne, no pregnancy, lol. But about the only downfall to this medication is that if I don't eat quite a bit right before I take it, I'll wake up in the middle of the night feeling nauseous and not able to go back to sleep. I can't just eat a cracker or some chips and take it, my stomach has to be full. Different medications affect everyone differently, so that might just be me, but I'm kind of curious as to whether anyone else has had this side effect from this medication?"

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "First, I want to start by saying weight gain depends on you. Of course, not everybody is the same, and you cannot expect birth control to help you lose weight. Secondly, this birth control is great, I had to switch to it after the one I was taking got recalled (Yaz). So far, this has made me happy. Like I said, everyone is different. I've had no bloating, cramping, or weight gain. I have been a little emotional, but it's something I can deal with."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I have been on Apri birth control for 3 years now. I give it a 3 for the fact that it in fact helped me to get and regulate my period, at the very late age of 22. And that I am not pregnant. But I have worse acne now than I did when I was 13. I have gained a lot of weight on my hips and stomach. I have the worst mood swings, and my sex drive is completely gone. It has caused a lot of problems in my relationship since I started taking it."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I haven't had a single noticeable side effect while taking this pill. No acne, no significant weight gain, no mood changes, no loss of sex drive. Not to mention it works wonders for your cycle: mine's extremely consistent, my periods are lighter, and my once terrible cramps are distant memories. Oh, and you also won't get pregnant. This is a great pill, the side effects some people report are probably an expected reaction or an individual bad experience. Highly recommended."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "So I used to be on Chateal, but after my insurance coverage ended, I started using The Pill Club. I have hormonal acne. When I did start birth control, my skin was GLOWING, I mean like YouTube skincare guru glowing. When I started Isibloom in Sep, it was okay, but I was getting HUGE zits. A month into using Isibloom and I started experiencing these huge acne build-ups. Literally cystic acne. They hurt so much and took 3+ weeks to go away. It was so painful. Not only that, but I was experiencing huge mood swings. 1-2 months in, and I was literally crying to work about absolutely nothing. I would also break down really easily over stressful things. This birth control also reduced my sex drive to zero. Stayed on this for 3 whole months and literally nothing improved, only got worse. Switched, and literally within a WEEK, I stopped experiencing mood swings and depression, sex drive came back, and my forehead no longer has huge mountains."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "DO NOT TAKE. The hormonal rage, hot flashes, weight gain, mood swings, night sweats, insomnia, THAT'S JUST TO NAME A FEW side effects. We won’t even address the hemorrhoids, breast pain, vision problems. I’d rather be pregnant."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I started taking Cyred in January of 2016. The first two months I was on it were the pits. I had constant dry blood (brown spotting), mood swings, sore breasts, and increased appetite. It felt like a forever period. Once those two months passed, though, my period regulated itself out, and it would only last about 3 days at most. I would still get pretty mood-swingy around that time, but that's about it. My appetite, sadly, stayed at the more increased level, but eating healthy options helps keep the weight down! It definitely does its job because it's been over two years now, and I'm still pregnancy-free. I have started taking only active pills to skip my period, and on the first try, it seems to be working! This pill may work for some and may not work for others, but just because of a few bad side effects, don't stop it right away, you could be missing out on something good in the long run."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "This Enskyce is the worst birth control pill I’ve ever taken. I took it for 3 weeks and am switching back to Marlisa, which I was on for over a year. Just within the few weeks, I have been an emotional MESS. I’ve never felt mood swings this intense or started crying because of simple little things that should definitely not be making me cry my eyes out! The skin on my face has also dried out so much that it seems like normal moisturizer has done nothing. I’ve lost basically all of my appetite and need to force myself to eat throughout the day because I never feel hungry anymore. Sex drive is also much lower, almost to the point that I have none."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I have been on Isibloom since 2010. I don’t have a period, so I have no cramps or bloating. There were no side effects such as mood swings or weight gain for me personally. This is the best birth control."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I have been using this birth control for almost 4 years now because of my heavy periods and painful cramping. It has done its job as far as pregnancy prevention, and I no longer have heavy or painful periods. However, my mood is always off, and my sex drive has really plummeted, this is not like me at all. I’ve also noticed I often get yeast infections and am always extremely tired. I will be discontinuing this birth control and all others permanently."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I had previously been on Microgestin, which didn't work well for me. I was cranky, tired, moody, and found myself having bleeding between periods. My doctor put me on Apri, and it doesn't affect my mood whatsoever. I feel fine, my periods are light and (bonus!) only last 2-3 days. Also, I'm not pregnant, so it definitely works."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "This is the worst pill I’ve ever been on. I took it for 11 days, and on the 12th, I had forgotten to take it until it was well past 24 hours. That day made me realize just what this pill had done. The past week and a half is just a haze of unimaginable mood swings (I’m usually laid-back and calm, I cried at least twice daily and even once got so crazy I screamed at my husband). I was sick to my stomach every night and threw up on three of the days. I had some kind of headache, whether small or almost migraine, daily. I couldn’t keep my contacts in all day because my eyes felt dry and irritated. That night (after forgetting my pill that morning), my husband mentioned I may be getting used to the pill and its side effects, as I was my usual self. So I haven’t taken another. I have an appointment with my doctor to figure out something different, I do not recommend this pill for anyone."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "This pill is effective as a birth control pill, but the side effects are absolutely miserable! Each month before my period, I get horribly depressed and incredibly emotional and irritable. I also get constant headaches on this pill. Would not recommend if you have anxiety or PMDD, as it only seems to exacerbate these conditions."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I just started taking this pill this week, so far not that bad of side effects except I'll get nauseous at night usually after I eat. (I take it in the afternoon). I just recently switched birth controls from Sorynox to this one. I was getting horrible mood swings and getting extremely depressed out of nowhere. It was driving my boyfriend crazy. My doctor switched me to this one and told me to take a vitamin B pill with it. So if you're getting mood swings and depressed, try taking a vitamin B pill with your birth control."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "I just started Isibloom almost a month ago. This is my first birth control, and it hasn't been bad for me, really. Other than that, I've been super emotional and tired more frequently. My sex drive has increased since starting it. The only thing I haven't liked so far is that my emotions now live on my sleeve. I haven't had my period yet since I started Isibloom... I would definitely recommend it as a first-time birth control."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "So I've only been on this pill for a month. Before this, I was on Yasmin for a month, and before that, I was on Junel Fe for 4 months, and before that, Lo Loestrin Fe for 2 months. I know it's still pretty early, but so far it is a great pill. On Yasmin, I was a monster. My temperament is usually very laid-back and carefree, but I was an emotional, depressed mess. After switching to Apri, it almost feels like an antidepressant for me. I'm in such a happy, good mood all the time. So far, I've only gotten sad one day the week before my period week, where I cried a little, but nothing compared to last month on Yasmin. So far, no weight gain either, my skin hasn't broken out on this, and my boobs are getting bigger (plus for me, being an A cup)."

Desogestrel / ethinyl estradiol for Birth Control "So, I took this birth control for 3 years. Did its job in terms of preventing pregnancy, but at a horrible cost. I gained over 30 lbs, had terrible nausea, mood swings, anxiety, depression, headaches, almost no libido, you name it. It wasn't until I got off the pill completely to give myself a break from the constant stream of hormones that is birth control that I realized all of the issues I was experiencing were all the pill, not me. After 2 months off of the pill, all of the aforementioned issues have disappeared. Consumer beware. Not worth it. When I do decide to go back on birth control, it will not be Viorele."
