For Osteoporosis "Prolia should be outlawed. Initially, I had severe headaches that woke me during the night. Then fatigue and breathlessness began and increased. My vision became somewhat blurred, and I had to visit an ophthalmologist. Then severe, I mean severe, diarrhea began and has lasted now for 4 weeks. My neuromuscular coordination was affected, especially my piano playing. I feel unsteady, not dizzy, but unconfident of balance when I walk. This was my first and last shot of Prolia. It really dragged me down. Horrible experience."

For Osteoporosis "I’m 50 years old with a lumbar dexascan -3.8, left hip -3.0. I had my first Prolia injection, and for a few weeks, nausea with some aches, but it stopped, and I did awesome. 2nd injection, nausea, lower back aches, and some aches in bilateral hips. After a few weeks, I was great. 3rd injection almost 90 days late due to insurance, and I received the injection 10 days ago. This is the worst for me. I had nausea and vomiting, which has subsided. I have bad aches in the lower back, both wrists, and elbows. My left elbow is sore to touch and loss of strength. To pick something up with my left hand is painful to the elbow. After sitting, when I stand, I have pain in both knees. I’m severely fatigued! On a positive note, I just had a dexascan, hips are -1.9, but lumbar is -3.5. The injection is working but not in all areas. I’m unsure of what to do at this point. More injections could improve my lumbar possibly or not, and side effects could be worse or not. The doctor said he treats 27 people, and they do not have any issues, and what I’m having is the Prolia. Ok?"

For Osteoporosis "I received the injection in December '17, and the shot was easy to take. I initially had no local side effects to the injection. Three weeks after receiving the injection of Prolia, I started to feel numbness and tingling all over my body, and I developed diarrhea. I ended up going back to my doctor, who took my calcium level, and it dropped to 7.1. I started increasing my calcium intake, and it went back to normal after two weeks. I still have multiple spasms in my body. The diarrhea really did resolve in two weeks, and after losing my appetite, it came back after three weeks. I am now 2 1/2 months into the shot and still getting quivering and spasms all over my body, including my arms, legs, and face, especially around my mouth, hands, and feet. There are times I feel foggy and extremely fatigued. The feelings do come and go. This drug is a nightmare. I would not waste my time taking this drug, I already lost two months of my life. Too bad there is not a way to reverse it."

For Osteoporosis "I have been taking this medication for five years and felt pressured into it. The last injection I had six months ago left me bedridden with fatigue and severe pain for several months. I also experienced edema, gaining 10 pounds in fluid overload, and migraines. Yesterday, I was pressured again, and now I feel terrible, with flu-like symptoms and fluid buildup. I have decided not to go again. In my experience, this drug is poison. What's worse is that it hasn't improved my bone density enough to justify continued use, and now I am also experiencing jaw and teeth problems. I advise others to be cautious."

For Osteoporosis "Just received the first injection two weeks ago. After reading the comments above, I'm afraid my misery has only begun. Had to start using my cane again due to increased pain and fatigue. Odd though, this afternoon took a nap only to awake to high-frequency noise in both ears; that was six hours ago; haven't noticed any comments about the ears except one."

For Osteoporosis "After a severely painful experience with a Reclast infusion (which are once per year), I was put on Prolia injections every six months. After a yearly infusion of Reclast and two 6-month intervals of Prolia, I have pain in my joints, muscles, groin, tendonitis in my Achilles tendons and thumb, headaches, nausea, confusion, weakness, fatigue, at least 40 pounds of weight gain, and severe back and hip pain. Before, I was on the go all the time, walking, exercising, and busy constantly, now I don't feel like doing anything because I never feel good and hurt all the time. Needless to say, I canceled my next injection and will take nothing for the osteoporosis. Even though I have a pretty good chance, even more so now, of having a fracture since I took the injections. Can you believe this? When you stop taking Prolia, you are more at risk than you were before you took it! Thanks to all the doctors that only think of how much money they can make off of someone instead of thinking of their health."

For Osteoporosis "I had my first injection on August 22 in 2022. I started having severe muscle spasms in my toes and calves. Headaches and fatigue. Then I started having pain in the lower and upper muscles in my legs. A little at first, and it has increased to where I am in tears when this happens. I had my second injection and now, along with that, I’m waking in the night with a severe rapid heartbeat. Can’t sleep and have such bad body weakness that it just overwhelms me. I would never recommend this poison to anyone. I have had test after test and been in the hospital several times. No answers. Not thinking about Prolia being so bad, I said let’s take a look at the side effects of Prolia. There it was in print: everything that was happening to me. It also said these side effects could continue on. Prolia is supposed to stay in your body for about four months, but it can be longer."

For Osteoporosis "Well, it scares the crap out of me reading many of the reviews. I have had five Prolia shots so far and thought I was okay. My T-score was very poor and is now in the 'osteopenia' range, which, according to the guy who did the scan, is not too far from normal for a 72-year-old male in this area. I have hopes for even better results next time. However, in hindsight, I have had symptoms that might be related to Prolia. I've experienced slight headaches, although very slight, which I initially blamed on sinusitis. I have also been feeling like I am 'down a quart' for quite a while. So, my GP sent me for a blood test and ECG, and everything came back okay. Now I'm wondering if this fatigue is actually a side effect of Prolia. I have an appointment with the rheumatologist in August and will discuss the possibility of weaning off the medication. Does anyone know if lower doses of Prolia are given? I would rate the drug 7/10 for improving my bone mass, but if the way I feel is caused by it, then the rating drops. I am in Canada, so I'm not sure if this will be displayed."

For Osteoporosis "Wish I had read this first. Will never see my doctor who recommended this drug again. Just got my first injection and experiencing shortness of breath and feeling like I can’t breathe. Lots of fatigue. Could have had Reclast again. Feel I just ruined my health."

For Osteoporosis "I would not recommend this drug. I have had my second shot, and I regret it. I have experienced joint pain, extreme fatigue at times. Sometimes I feel like I can't breathe. I've had abdominal pain, lower leg edema. I've been miserable at times after taking this drug. It is the worst drug I've ever taken. My cholesterol has gone up, I feel like every week I'm getting sick with an upper respiratory illness. I'm a kidney transplant patient, and after I read the reviews, I told my doctor I didn't want to take this drug, but he insisted I would be fine. Well, he was wrong. I will not take another injection. I was totally fine without this drug. Again, I do not recommend!!!"

For Osteoporosis "Terrible side effects-first and ONLY shot. Persistent bone pain-legs, ankles, wrists, arms, back, hips, neck, and shoulder pain. Muscle pain, extreme fatigue x 2 months so far. Side effects persist. Vague information from doctor. Was not advised regarding danger to people without all intestines, they are not supposed to use this drug-I had intestinal surgery 30 years ago, had no idea this was contraindicated. Not advised about dangers if the drug is stopped: increased chance of bone breaks, especially in spine. Must take other drugs if you stop it. Be informed. Read all information on side effects found on this site, some are serious and may be more common than reported-report all side effects to Amgen. Bone pain in back and other areas is COMMON. Per Amgen-they did not study bone loss in other areas that might occur as it takes calcium from some areas and moves to others. I do not recommend this drug."

For Osteoporosis "After a bone density test showed that I was on the brink of osteoporosis, I was prescribed an injection of Prolia late in September 2021. I began to experience mild pain in my arms, neck, and thighs. These increased in severity, and I developed nausea. I then developed bronchitis, another stated side effect, and feel, after two months, fatigued with continuing bone pain. My hair is falling out. I feel no benefit from this drug, and the quality of my life has been severely impaired in every way. I shall never use this medication again. I have lost my appetite, and my legs are swollen."

For Osteoporosis "I have scleroderma. I have had 5 injections, starting on March 17, 2019. My last was March 17, 2021. I am scheduled for one on September 17, 2021. WON'T have it. I have had scleroderma for 14 years and was doing quite well. My bones were getting weak due to extensive time on prednisone. When the rheumatologist mentioned it, I asked her if it would help and did not give it another thought until two months ago (July 2021). My general practitioner, during my regular checkup, asked me if I was still taking Prolia. I said yes, and she did not comment. I had been declining in the past 2 1/2 years and was begging my doctors for help with the pain in my muscles, weakness, fatigue, stuffy nose (never had allergies), loss of hearing, spent $5,500.00 on hearing aids that do not help, blurry eyes, dizziness. Had my eyes checked and no problems, hair loss, I have curled fingers due to the scleroderma attack, but all of a sudden I was loaded with ulcers and calcium deposits on all of my fingers and thumbs.. continued."

For Osteoporosis "I've never had a medication make me feel so horrible as Prolia has. Pain I can almost tolerate, but this medication makes me feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck. Fatigue every day, day after day, where life is on hold. Any household chore is intolerable due to exhaustion. Eating is difficult due to nausea. I've lost one-third of my hair so far, validated by my stylist, and this is without her knowing that my hair has been falling out. I can't participate in any social interaction because I just don't feel good anymore. I'm gaining weight from lack of energy. My whole life is on hold. I have kidney disease, and Prolia is the only compatible drug for osteoporosis. I ask myself every day if it's worth it. Also, it's in my body for a total of six months, which means I can't even just stop the medication to get my health back. Never again will I permit another injection. By the feedback of other women, I'm not the only one who suffers, there are multiple queries looking for an antidote!"

For Osteoporosis "The day after having the Prolia injection, I developed a 3-day headache, followed by chronic fatigue and vertigo. A week later, all my joints-neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles-all started cracking. In the third week, I developed sciatica on my right side. I was unable to sit, I could only stand, walk, or lay flat. Sitting was unbearably painful. I have been medicated with Tramadol for pain. I have tried acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and hot mineral springs. Nothing has helped. I take natural vitamin supplements and calcium, nothing helps. I have read that Prolia weakens the immune system, so there is no way I would ever have the Covid vaccine in my situation. My body is very compromised. I would caution anyone considering Prolia. I had no ill health symptoms before I had this, and now I’m incapacitated."

For Osteoporosis "Horrible drug. I felt my doctor was overbearing and wanted me to take Prolia. I have been miserable ever since. Bone, joint, muscle pain, difficulty walking. Extreme fatigue. Some days I feel like I am actually dying, nausea, bowel problems. My quality of life is definitely worse. Never again. Only took one injection."

For Osteoporosis "I wish I didn't start on Prolia. I started feeling fatigue, dry eyes and skin, and itchy skin rashes. I didn't realize these symptoms were connected to the medication. I thought the cause was the hot summer. However, these symptoms remained in the fall. I feel my skin either burning or itching all the time. I cannot sleep, mostly because of my skin discomfort."

For Osteoporosis "I’ve already had 5 injections of Prolia for osteoporosis. My T score, in the beginning, was 3.3. After my bone density test this year, it went down to 2.0. After reading so many negative comments, I was afraid to take Prolia. I can honestly say my strength has improved. I have a stronger grip. I can carry a gallon of milk. I have a better grip as I can open my own water bottle. The only side effects have been a little fatigue and low energy, but it subsides. Nothing I can’t handle. I am very pleased!"

"Bone scans showed osteopenia at age 66, so my doctor decided I should have this. It isn't even indicated for osteopenia, only osteoporosis. I also don't have a strong immune system due to an accident a couple of decades ago. I had one Prolia at the end of February. Constant side effects started after about 2 weeks, just about all mentioned in the literature. Then in April, I developed shingles, which I've also had twice since. I was thinking not to have another dose, which is due this coming week. I also had a very heavy cold that I can't shake, but I didn't connect it until a couple of days ago while thinking about my immune system. Apparently, Prolia is not ideal if your immune system isn't good, which surely the doctor should have known. Last week, I developed severe burning pain in my ribs and back, and red skin - the last few days I can barely move - and fatigue. I was hoping the side effects would go away, but here I am at the end of the first and only dose in agony."
