For Hyperhidrosis "I haven't been taking clonidine for long, but I got switched from oxybutynin to clonidine for sweating for my methadone. My dose is 138, but going down every other week. On the high side because I had a baby. I started taking one and a half .1 clonidine twice a day. Did that for a few days and no change. Now I'm doing 3 .1 clonidine twice a day, which the only thing I've noticed was a little loopy, and if you get up too fast, watch out. I thought I was going down! I later read it makes your blood pressure drop, I guess. But no go on the sweating stopping. I just want to go back to the oxybutynin, I think. It wasn't 100 percent, but it helped a lot more than this. Dry mouth is crazy, but hey, you gotta pick wet or dry, lol."

For High Blood Pressure "I am adding this review to my review in February 2023. It is now August 1st, 2023, and I have finally been off Clonidine for 6 weeks today. The only way I was able to do this was by replacing my 0.01 afternoon pill with 100 mg of Labetalol. As I said in my February 2023 review, I was on 20 mg of Lisinopril a.m. and p.m. along with 0.01 Clonidine morning, afternoon, and evening. After replacing my afternoon dose of Clonidine with 100 mg of Labetalol for 3 weeks, I then took only 100 mg of Labetalol morning, afternoon, and evening. My blood pressure is now stable and sometimes on the low side, however, I still have a very dry mouth and sores in my mouth, along with digestive issues that have improved. Since I was on Clonidine for over a year, I feel it will take time for my body to heal. I also had muscle aches and so many side effects from the Clonidine that are getting better as time goes on. As I said, it may be good for some people, but over time, Clonidine caused havoc on my overall health."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Ok, don't want to discourage anyone or step on any toes, but it didn't work for me. It really did nothing for my withdrawals or help to ease the anxiety at all, and if it did, it was so minimal that I didn't notice. Took one tablet the first few days, nothing. Took two tablets in a second attempt to see if it could benefit me, and all it made me feel really weird. I had to lay down, but not because it had a calming effect, just because it made me feel really weak and dizzy. It also gave me a dry mouth and gave me a really weird taste in my mouth. I'm glad people find them so helpful, but definitely not for me at all."

For Tourette's Syndrome "I'm 25 and have had minor motor tics since I was around 12. I was recently prescribed this because my tics became too much to bear without medication, but I'm not noticing much of any change. Sometimes the following day after I take 2 mg the night before, I'll notice my tics are less frequent, but it definitely didn't relieve them when I need it to. It also gives me really bad dry mouth and sometimes gets me so tired I fall asleep at my desk at work. I'll continue taking this for a little while longer, but if the tics persist, I'm gonna have to try something else."

For High Blood Pressure "Have been on so many BP meds, and they either did not work or gave me horrible side effects. With clonidine, it takes my BP down. I only have systolic issues. They were using clonidine as my emergency drug when BP was in the 170s or more. I have decided to take this drug every day. I do get constipation, which I have a sluggish colon to start with, dry mouth, and blurred vision off and on, and for a time after taking my dose, my legs feel weak; but that goes away. This needs to be my main BP drug. I was 200 last night and scared, so I took the whole 0.1 pill; usually do the 1/2 pills."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I’ve been taking prescription fentanyl, high dose, for 15 years after a bad lupus attack and transverse myelitis that damaged my spinal cord, muscles, and nerves. The end result was chronic, excruciating pain, and my neurologist prescribed fentanyl patches. Now it is considered the evil of all opiates. I am currently on 200 mcg, and my doctors want me to taper down. I tried clonidine for 2 days, but all it did was make me drowsy and gave me a very dry mouth and dry eyes. It did nothing for my withdrawals and the agonizing myoclonic jerks. Some people say they tried it after 3 days of withdrawals, and it worked wonders. Acute withdrawals often don’t last more than 3 days, so if you made it that far, you were probably over the worst of it anyway, and clonidine likely had little to do with your recovery. With or without clonidine, I can’t get through even a few hours of withdrawals yet. I am still hoping to find something to help me get through it."

For Anxiety "Exhausted to the point of having to sleep during the day, which I never do. Burning eye pain. Does not help me sleep for eight hours. Taking it only to sleep. So far, not particularly happy. Exhausted! Probably going to ask for an alternative. On to yet another. Extreme dry mouth. Yuk!"

For High Blood Pressure "I have dangerously high blood pressure and dysautonomia and mild anxiety, and I've been on this medication for six months now. Sadly, it's not done anything for my blood pressure or really helped with my dysautonomia/autonomic symptoms, however, I'm on 100 micrograms a day, which is 0.1 mg a day. I've not had any side effects except dry mouth and sleep issues. I'm hugely sensitive to medications, so I'm not sure if we can up the dose soon or not. But for people that don't know, this does come in smaller doses now, and I take 25 microgram tablets, which four of those are equal to 0.1 mg."

For High Blood Pressure "I have the side effects others have mentioned -- drowsiness, dry mouth, etc. -- but they're manageable. Sometimes it works great to control my blood pressure, but other times it's totally ineffective (on the same day). I would rate it higher if it wasn't so inconsistent."

For Tourette's Syndrome "I used this medication for 3 days for motor tics (blinking and head jerking). The first day, I took half a tablet in the morning and half a tablet at night. The side effects were horrible: insomnia, feeling weak and lethargic, limbs would go numb especially when I'm trying to sleep, dry mouth, depression, falling asleep/dozing off at work and while driving (very dangerous). Day 2 and 3, I just took half a tablet at night, and the side effects in the day weren't as bad, but still there. The effects at night were just as bad, if not worse. I was only getting 3 good hours of sleep, the rest is praying to sleep. But in saying that, the tics did ease a little bit. I have now stopped the meds today. Will not take it again."

For Tourette's Syndrome "I’ve had a flare-up of vocal tics for several years now. I had tried about 8 meds with no luck. A neurologist put me on 0.1 mg clonidine (final dose). I struggled to stay awake all day, and my system dried out. I didn’t notice any benefit. Also, I have ADD-Inattentive. The drug didn’t help for that either. I already have low BP, so that might have added to the fatigue. I'm getting to the point where I might try the older antipsychotic drugs that carry the risk of permanent movement disorder. Don’t understand why some drugs work for some and not others."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I've been suffering for 20 years with the most horrible of menopausal symptoms. I've been through the mill and back after sterilization. My pharmacist recommended minograin. I've been taking it for 2 days now and for the first time, I'm feeling normal, no flushes. Just dry mouth and dizziness, sometimes numb fingers. Great product. I would recommend it."

For Anxiety "I've been taking clonidine since 6 months. I was taking clonazepam for 26 years, and I needed something to manage the benzo withdrawals, which were horrible. My doctor prescribed 0.1 twice a day. This medication for me is the game changer. I was so crippled with anxiety from benzo withdrawal, I didn't want to be around anyone, scared to leave the house, and was a complete mess. Since taking clonidine, all those attacks are gone. The only negative I can say about it is the dry mouth. I'd recommend trying this, especially for those of you experiencing benzo withdrawal. Best of luck, and I hope what I shared may help someone."

For High Blood Pressure "For some reason, this was the very first med my doctor RX'd me for hypertension at a dosage of 0.1 mg twice a day. It lowered my blood pressure, but not by much, so he increased it to 0.2 mg twice per day. Blood pressure still high, and he AGAIN increased it to 0.2 mg 3 times a day. It lowered my blood pressure very little, but mostly it just made me groggy and gave me dry mouth. He finally added metoprolol XR, and my blood pressure is getting better. However, the clonidine does come in handy for other things like opiate withdrawal, sleep, and headache prevention."
