"It was an $80 co-pay but worked well for me with only five 8-oz cups of water in the evening and three in the morning. I wouldn't be able to drink a gallon of alternative medication with gastritis. Important to follow instructions and mix the powder with water for at least 2-3 minutes, otherwise, you will have nausea. It becomes warm when mixed. Set multiple alarms/look at the clock to drink water in recommended intervals. You will likely get irritation of your butt from flushing out. Be prepared with Vaseline/A&D ointment and warm water baths to relieve the symptoms. I scheduled the appointment for 12:30 pm, which was the latest available to avoid getting up at night, as you need a few hours for your morning dose to finish working."

"Was given this for a colonoscopy prep. Dr's orders said to begin prep at 4 pm and second round at 8 pm. Colonoscopy was scheduled at 8 am the next day. I started it at 2 pm and did the second round at 6 pm. Had no idea what to expect, so wanted to get it over with. Had only heard horror stories about people having to redo the whole test because prep didn't work. Didn't want to go through it again. Took about 40 min for it to work. Didn't have to go running to the bathroom. Also, drinking the 5 glasses of water after wasn't so bad either. Have to say that the second round worked better than the first. And, it doesn't taste bad either. But colder is better. Finally 'ran clear' by 10 pm and was able to sleep. Colonoscopy went well too."

"A friend told me about this, and after picking up GoLightly, I called my doctor who said they don't prescribe because of cost. I was expecting up to $150, and even though I only paid $36, I would have paid $150. The only issue I had was it took 4.5 hours to begin working. It was so easy that I thought I wasn't cleaned out enough!!! My doctor recommended taking it at 2 PM and 6 PM, then 1/2 bottle of magnesium citrate at 8 PM. By 11:30, I was done and had a good rest. Others recommended Dulcolax ahead of time, but my doctor didn't. Compared to my last experience 10 years ago (Oral Fleet?, which was taken off the market and disgusting), the last of Prepopik was a pleasure...tasted like Tang. It was a slow prep, but it did the job!!!"

"I'm 53, and this was my third colonoscopy. I did not do well with the bowel preps from my first two colonoscopies. I had difficulty keeping the prep solution down, and it made me sick for a week after the procedures. In comparison, Prepopik was fantastic. It was still a bowel prep, but a lot less traumatic on my system. The taste wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I only had one small BM with the first dose and worried that it wasn't working, but the second dose kicked my system into gear. I took it at 10 pm, but was able to fall asleep around 1:00 am. The other preps kept me up all night. I won't be signing up for extra colonoscopies, but Prepopik will make the mandatory ones much easier! Thank you!"

"I had a positive experience with Prepopik; the best thing about this style of prep is its allowance for the patient to consume fluids that appeal to her. Although getting the concentrate down in 5 oz or so is mildly unpleasant, it has a fizz to it and could be worse. It took 2.5 hours after ingestion for me to start passing stool, so I was mildly concerned that the prep wouldn't work for me, but I went on to have diarrhea for a few hours, slept most of the rest of the night, and followed the same pattern for the early morning dose, and produced only clear yellow liquid within four hours of the morning dose in time for my procedure. All in all, a positive experience, and I also included white wine in the evening 'clear liquids.'"

"This is my fourth colonoscopy...hands down the best prep I've used! Only have to drink 5 oz of prep, two times about 8 hrs apart. It does not taste bad. The others were horrible, I gagged and vomited. Works quickly, so you're not up all night."

"I was prescribed this for a diagnostic colonoscopy to investigate bleeding and loose bowels. I was assigned the split-dose prep, where you take one dose in the evening and the other the morning of the exam. The first 5-ounce drink was easy to swallow, and I was able to follow it with 5 cups of the clear liquid of choice - I chose two water, one chicken stock, one ginger ale, and one Gatorade. After an hour, the effects kicked in. I didn't experience any cramping or nausea. I went to bed two hours after taking it and got up about once an hour for the next four hours. I was running clear at this time and considered skipping dose two. Instead, I took half the second dose and fluids. I was perfectly clear for the exam."

"It was my first time having a colonoscopy, and everyone is saying the prep is the worst. Prepopik made it really easy. Tastes good, only 5 oz to drink, followed up by 5 glasses of water over the next few hours and then again 6 hours before the procedure. I was able to get little naps between toilet visits. No cramps or discomfort. No major time in the bathroom, just in and out. Totally worth extra money."

"This is the first time using Prepopik. Initially a little surprised it cost $45 with good insurance. I have Crohn's disease and this is the 4th scope in 3 years. Have been on clear liquids all the day before. Took the first dose at 5 pm as instructed and already have all liquid stool. Not the usual cramping and horrible urgency as with Gatorade and Miralax. Also does not feel like acid coming out! So far very pleased with the results! Not too excited for the 2 am dose, but hopefully it won't be too bad!"

"I was so very scared of this prep. I was supposed to do my colonoscopy months ago but was first prescribed a gallon jug of crap you mix with lemonade. That stuff was so bad I couldn't swallow a sip! Tasted like salty lemonade, very gross. My doctor then sent me to a private doctor's office. The office gave me a sample (was enough meds for the prep) of Prepopik, cranberry flavor. I had anxiety over taking this medication. I took the first dose in one gulp, it wasn't good but was not horrible! I freaked myself out for nothing. It cleared me out and didn't give bad side effects. Don't be afraid of this, it's the easiest option I've been given, and it worked!!"

"To anyone panicking if it's been hours and nothing has happened: don't worry. I came here reading these reviews and started freaking out because I have a colonoscopy tomorrow, was supposed to have Colyte, it was out of stock, so I had to take Prepopik, and after 7 hours it hadn't started working yet. Even the Colyte took about 3 hrs to start working, but this one, I did everything right, drank all the liquids after, and nothing happened for 7 hours! I was ready to call the whole procedure off in the morning and was so stressed, but as soon as I took the second packet followed by the 3 8 oz. doses of liquids after the last drop of the 3rd 8 oz., it kicked in. It's not over yet, but it seems to be doing the job. Colyte was so disgusting to drink so much of and made me very nauseous. This one, however, you barely have to drink anything, it doesn't taste bad, and I had less nausea. I wish you all well and speedy recoveries to those suffering from these terrible diseases."

"After only 1 day of a liquid diet, I was nervous, but overall it was a good experience compared to what I've read about! It was $40 with a coupon that the doctor gave me. It didn't taste bad and was easy to gulp down. I didn't have any bad side effects (use baby wipes!). It did take 6 hours for it to begin working (started 6:30 pm, it began at 11:45 pm), but the nurse told me that was normal, especially if you experience constipation. I only got 3 hours of sleep because I was constantly having to go. It ended just in time for the procedure at 9:30am -toilet bowl was clear and yellow like pee. I had a last-minute urge to go right before my procedure began too, but the nurse said that was normal. I wish I had started the first dose earlier. The procedure went smoothly; results good."

"AWFUL AWFUL experience! 4 PM 1st packet with 5 oz of water followed by five 8 oz cups of water...no results at all! 10 PM 2nd packet with three 8 oz cups of water. At 2 AM, I called the 'on-call' doctor to report that there was NO EFFECT. I considered canceling the appointment. Finally, my bowels started to flush at 3 AM! It's now 3:10, and I am absolutely NOT CLEAR. I will most likely be awake all night, and my colonoscopy is at 8:15 AM. I am supposed to arrive at 7:30 to fill out paperwork, and I am livid!"

"This is my fifth colonoscopy since my diagnosis and tried Prepopik on the advice of a friend. I had no cramps, vomiting, or pain. I drank the required amount of liquid as suggested and then some. I think that is key. It started working in about an hour. It tasted a bit better than the other preps, but the best thing was how little you had to drink. I heard no complaints from the doctor, and when I go back in 3 years, I will use this again."

"It worked, but it caused me to pass out. I took this as instructed - 1 dose at 4 pm and another at 8 pm. My doctor's instructions were to drink 2 16 oz glasses of water/beverage or more after the 4 pm dose, and that liquids could continue to be consumed after the second dose until midnight. I drank some herbal tea. Things went fine after the first dose, and it seemed gentle enough. I went to the restroom several times and things seemed to be moving along. I took the second dose and by 10 pm thought I was done. I woke up at 12:30 am with stomach cramps and a pounding headache. I had watery diarrhea and became very dizzy. I stood up and passed out, hitting my head."

"Today was my third colonoscopy; so almost a veteran. First the good part: this stuff is easy to use, no bad (but not good) taste, no side effects (no vomiting, headache, etc.), no abnormal discomfort, and produced the desired results (no detail necessary) in a reasonably quick time. The desired results were accomplished such that the doctor commented how squeaky clean my colon was. The slight downsides: - the split dose required doing this whole thing twice, including getting up at 2:30 a.m. (and of course not even thinking about going back to sleep right away) for a 7:30 a.m. appointment. - numerous trips to the bathroom for several hours after each of the two packets of stuff and fluids. - out-of-pocket cost was $120, seems EXCESSIVE."

"Wow, what a positive experience. I ate a soft diet two days before and an all-liquid diet on the day before (as directed). My first drink at 4 p.m. went down so easily, there was so little (5 oz) it was nothing to get down. Within 45 mins, I was off and running. No cramping, no pain at all. At 10 p.m., I drank cup number two, began working right away, still no cramping or any other issues. It was off to bed and the next day off to the doctor. Very clean and great experience, well as great as this type of procedure can be..."

"I am doing the Prepopik for the first time. I've done the Golytely and the Miralax/Gatorade preps in the past. The Prepopik is tolerable. It's only 5 oz 2x, so it's not too difficult. I started feeling it work within the first half hour of taking the first dose. My stool was clear a couple of hours later. I took my 2nd dose 6 hours later as directed. It felt like I was pooping fire. It was HORRIBLE, take your breath away burning. I did remain clear yellow, though. The biggest struggle for me was drinking the at least 24 oz after the second dose. I couldn't take in any more liquid. My stomach was a mess. I had mild cramping, tons of gurgling, and a very uncomfortable digestion feeling. This prep wasn't worse than any of the others."

"I did the split-dose regimen and don't think it would have cleaned me out good enough all on its lonesome. Fortunately, I put myself on a low-residue diet a couple of days prior to prep day, plus I took 3 Dulcolax (Bisacodyl) tabs the night before prep day and then another 3 tabs the evening before the procedure. Reading other reviews got me worrying the Prepopik might not do the job completely, so that's why I decided to tweak my prep a bit. The taste of the prep isn't too bad, and thank goodness it's a pretty small amount to drink compared to the other 2 prep options my doctor offered. Out of pocket was $40 (after insurance and a $40 coupon my doc gave me.)"

"I have to have scopes yearly, so I've tried several different types of preps. After trying Prepopik, I will never use anything else! It's the only thing that doesn't make me nauseous, and also not having to drink much of it to get the job done is awesome! I will say that you have to make sure that the solution gets warm before drinking it, or it won't work as well. I think the frustration comes from people not reading the directions. :) Prepopik is amazing!"

"Most palatable drink for bowel prep I've had to date (compared to 2 previous... but it is pricey depending on how much your insurance will pay: Tricare was good). I followed Dr.'s advice on prep and bowel was clean and clear for pictures and work."

"This was my fifth colonoscopy, but my first with Prepopik. Compared to having to consume huge volumes of disgusting fluid in previous colonoscopies, this was not so bad. The Prepopik itself was not bad tasting, it had a citrus flavor. I had to drink 40 oz. of water over five hours after taking the first dose the night before the procedure. About 45 minutes after the first dose, it started working. When I went to bed, I was concerned that it was not working because I had a lot fewer BMs than with previous colonoscopies. The morning of the procedure, I had to get up at 4:30 (four hours before the actual procedure) to take another dose followed by 24 fluid oz. of water over an hour. The doctor said I was super clean, so it worked fine!"

"I don't know what the bad reviewers are talking about. Yes, the product tastes fine, but who really cares-this isn't about taste. BM induced within about 45 minutes, and then regularly thereafter. Got up three times at night. No gas, bloating, or other side effects whatsoever. I'm now a few hours from the procedure, and BM is slightly cloudy yellow, which I understand is the goal. In short, maybe only people having problems bother to post reviews."

"This was my first colonoscopy and was very nervous, but with Prepopik, it was so easy, no pain and cramping, and very easy to drink. I was worried I didn't empty enough, but the doctor said I was completely clean!"

"First time colonoscopy. I'd say this was easy-peasy prep. Worked like a champ within 2 hours of the first dose. Found this to be easy because of the low volumetric requirements. 1st dose, then 5 eight oz. liquid. 2nd dose, then 3 eight oz. liquid. Their website is helpful. Just select split or day-before options to get exact timing of your doses based on your appointment time. Good luck with yours!"
