"Prepopik is the way to go for colonoscopy prep. Last time I had to drink the 64 ounces of Golightly, which was horrible! Sickening taste that made me want to vomit, chills, aches and pains, and just plain horrible. Prepopik was a piece of cake! Starting 7 days prior to the procedure by cutting out high-fiber foods, nuts and seeds until the day before the procedure when I went on a liquid diet of basically popsicles, jello, and Sprite Zero. This was probably the worst part of my prep this time simply because I was hungry! Started using the Prepopik at 6:00 pm the night before my procedure, following the instructions in the box, and it worked wonderfully without all the other issues! Doc said it cleaned my colon very well too, so I don't have to go back for 10 years!"

"I took the Prepopik for my first colonoscopy (I'm 25), and I found it to be very effective. The orange flavor was very tolerable. I had no bad cramps or terrible side effects with it, but I had taken magnesium citrate the night before, and that had already cleaned me out somewhat. My only issue was I ended up so dehydrated that I showed up to my colonoscopy with a fever. Try to drink as much fluid as you can with this prep! I drank plenty, but there was more liquid coming out of me than going in. Overall, I would recommend the Prepopik. On a side note, my insurance didn't cover it, but the office I go to had it available. I recommend asking your office if they have it available if insurance won't cover it at the pharmacy."

"I was absolutely terrified of the colonoscopy, especially the prep, so I put it off until I was 56. BUT: I was surprisingly happy with Prepopik and won't use anything else going forward. I'm a small female and was concerned about the volume of prep as well as potential nausea and cramping. I took the Prepopik as directed, and drinking the five ozs. of solution was exactly like drinking a room-temperature orange Gatorade. Easy! My doctor had suggested that I consider going on a liquid diet for 2 days rather than one to make the prep most effective. I stuck with broth, Gatorade, Jell-O, and water. Followed instructions for evening and morning dose. Evening dose began to work after 1 hour, while morning dose worked after half an hour. Result: Doctor said procedure went perfectly and the colon was impeccably clean-- no need to return for 10 years! Highly recommend."

"I used Prepopik for a colonoscopy today. Used it as instructed by my Dr., and the last dose was 10 pm for a 9:30 am procedure. I get colonoscopies every three years, so I have had many experiences with different solutions. Prepopik was very easy to use as it is not as intense as others. I had no side effects, however, I still had diarrhea when it was time for the procedure. Not fun, and my system was not nearly as clean as with all others I have used. That being said, I would not use this again as it is more important to prep well to get the best result from the colonoscopy. I would put up with inconvenience to ensure a clean colon. I will ask not to use this next time."

"I used this prep only after the Dr. gave me a coupon that brought the cost down from $135 to $40. Talk about money down the toilet. I was instructed to take the 1st dose at 6 p.m. and the 2nd dose at 4 a.m. for a colonoscopy at 10 a.m. Had the first BM at 7:30 and the 4th BM around 2:30 a.m. After the 2nd dose at 4 a.m., no BM until 7:30 a.m. and still nowhere near running clear. Around 8 a.m., intense cramping began with very violent BMs. Passed out and became very weak. Doctor said to go to the ER. The colonoscopy was canceled and they gave me fluids and I was released by 11 a.m. Still continued to have BMs 17 hours after the 2nd dose. BMs didn't start running clear until 12 hours after the 2nd dose. I am a 54-year-old male who is healthy and active."

"Oh goodness. It sounds nice because you get to the pharmacy, and they don't hand you this great big jug to walk out with. It's 2 little packets. You mix 1 with 5 oz of water twice. Sounds too good to be true, right? That's because it is. You then have to follow that with 5 8 oz of a clear liquid within 5 hours. By the time I was able to get that down, because remember you have to take into consideration running to that toilet every 15 minutes, it is now time to start the next packet. You have to start the next packet 6 hours before your procedure. So, if your procedure is at 9 am, you are waking up at 3 am to take packet number 2. My procedure is at 6 am. I had to take my first packet at 6 pm. My 2nd at 12 am. No sleep for me. It sucks and $$$$"

"This was my 1st colonoscopy and had an endoscopy at the same appointment. Prepopik was so easy to use. Much better than the horror stories of that gallon prep others have told me about. I ate light three days prior, then only beef, chicken, and vegetable broth, plus apple juice and white Gatorade. I started the 1st dose at 6:30 PM and the 2nd at 11:30. I drank more than the 5 cups. The 1st dose was through me in 3 hours. So I figured I was through at 2:30 AM and went to sleep because I was so sleepy and had a 9:30 AM appointment, but when I woke up, I realized I had an accident in bed. So my advice is to use Depends or keep a folded beach towel under you, just in case. To keep my anus from getting sore, I used Oxyfresh Aloe Vera Gel to prevent the diaper rash soreness."

"I had put off colonoscopy due to fear of the prep. After the awful stories and having a weak stomach, Prepopik changed that. Easy breezy! My husband couldn’t believe how easy it was for me versus his previous experience. Time for his next one, and he is using Prepopik too. The doctor said it did a great job too!"

"This prep, by far, was the best I have ever done out of 3 preps for colonoscopies. Absolutely no cramping, no nausea, no bloated feeling, just running to the toilet, is it! It was a slow type of action also, so you didn't feel so deadly dehydrated!"

"I was worried after reading some of the comments, so I did a stool softener for 4 days before and also did liquids for 2.5 days. I got pretty sick of beef and chicken broth! Took my first at 4 pm, just made me feel full, but the taste was decent. I did my 5 waters within 2 hours. It started working in 30-45 mins, but the stool softener cleaned me out a bit before. I did the other dose at midnight, I was able to go to sleep about 2:30 for my 7 am appt. Everything was fine, and I would do this again. I used cold water for my drink, it seemed to go down better than the flavored drinks I bought."

"I don't know why there are so many negative reviews of this. This was my third colonoscopy, and this was by far the easiest and most effective prep. The taste was not bad and much better than a gallon of the previous stuff. No bloating, cramping, or vomiting. Took the first dose at 6 PM and was going by 7. Took the second at 2:30 and was totally clean by 4:30."

"I used this for the preparation of my 1st colonoscopy. The taste was pretty decent, citrus taste. Took the 1st dose at 4 pm with 40 oz of clear fluids, within 3 hours, I was going a lot for a good hour. 2nd dose at 10 pm with 30 oz of clear fluids, within 1 hour, I was going again. The procedure was at 7:30 am, the doctor was pleased with how well I was cleaned out. The procedure went well. Note: follow Drs. and medicines' directions. Do not eat heavy a couple of days before. Stay hydrated before and during. I have recommended this to others since my procedure in September."

"Took the first dose at 5 PM. Took the second dose at 7 AM the next morning. Colonoscopy was scheduled for 12:30 PM that day. The prep 'worked' at 3 PM, after the procedure was canceled. Plus, it cost $136 out of pocket. Worthless."

"The Prepopik is the best prep for colonoscopy I ever used, and I have tried about six different ones. It is the only prep kit where I did not have a migraine (and I am a migraine sufferer) nor throw up. Is this still on the market? Of course, none of them are great."

"I am 52 with Crohn's disease; this was my 5th colonoscopy in 7.5 years. I have no constipation issues. Being my first time using Prepopik, I followed it to the letter. I am grateful because 5.5 hours after the initial prep and limited success, I found this page. I followed some suggestions on here and set my alarm for 4 a.m. It was clear the results weren't enough. The doctor called me back on his way to the hospital and gave me the option of rescheduling (NO!) or coming in early for an enema, which worked enough to have the prep. I also had a good report. However, at 9 p.m. I had the worst intensity of the prep after eating 2 meals. The doctor seemed to think I was rare and the 82% success rate was better than many other preps."

"This was my third colonoscopy and had never had problems before with other prep kits. This one did me in. I woke up the day of the procedure feeling queasy, and sure enough, about 40 minutes after drinking the prep, I was vomiting profusely. I had to run to the drug store to get magnesium citrate to complete the process, but got sick after that as well. Luckily, I kept the latter down long enough to get the necessary effect. My gastro was not happy that I'd had the problem. He apologized profusely and said that was the last one he was prescribing. Too many patients were reporting problems."

"This was my first colonoscopy, and I chose Prepopik because it would be easier to drink. I normally have constipation problems, so I was concerned that it would not work. I mixed it very, very well with cold water (3 minutes of mixing) at 4 pm and drank it. It had a nice flavor, like orange Tang. Then I drank the 8 oz of water (one every 30 minutes). I was able to have a BM after 1 hour. Then I had a dozen for the next 3 hours. I was able to go to bed and sleep. No cramping. No nausea. The next morning, I drank the mixture at 3 am and the 8 oz of water (every 30 minutes). I did 4 waters until 6 am because my colonoscopy was at 10:20 am and I was not supposed to have fluids 4 hours before. Prepopik worked great. I would highly recommend it."

"Had done this process 3 times before, 1st time use Prepopik. Co-pay is $125 since insurance won't cover this. Followed instruction exactly and no effect ion. No BM after 1st dose, has three after 2nd dose. I have one hour left and still not clean. Sucks."

"Third colonoscopy, first time with this prep. Positive: can eat eggs and cheese the day before the procedure. Negative: expensive and did not completely clean me out. I did the 2-step process. At 4 pm the day before, took the initial dose followed by five 8-oz glasses of water. Experienced results in 1 1/2 hours and then for the next 8 hours. The next morning at 4:15, took the 2nd dose followed by five glasses of water with NO results whatsoever. Nothing. Called the endoscopy clinic at 7 am and they said to come in early for my appointment. I had to have a tap water enema to finish the prep. My colonoscopy was at 10:45 am and I was home by 1 pm. At 4:00 pm I started getting explosive watery stools like the prep started working 8 hours later!"

"I am 35, female, and have ulcerative colitis for all of my life. I have done a ton of preps before. I took my first dose at 10 a.m. today, and it took till 1:30 to kick in. I was getting worried, but I also was in bed the whole time. I drank the fluids, more than it says, only because I know our body requires more than we think. The first round was easy, and I was relieved. The second bout, excuse the language, but I'm sure I was yelling as my poor butt was on fire! It was that bad, every time till the first dose ran dry. I took my second dose around 5, it is now 7:15, and it just kicked in. Thankful to say, no burning, and it's just liquid. I don't tend to follow the dosing times, I stay on clear liquids all day, so nothing solid is being processed. GL!"

"I wish I would've read this group prior to starting my prep. I've had Crohn's disease for 19 years and have had numerous colonoscopies. Currently, I'm in good health, and my colonoscopy tomorrow (hopefully) is just routine. Prepopik sounded promising. Less nasty liquid to drink. Hooray. Except that I drank magnesium citrate at 7 pm last night and Prepopik at 9 am and 4 pm with more than the recommended amount of clear fluids, and hardly anything has happened. It's now 6:15 pm, and I just talked to my GI and had to drink an extra bottle of magnesium citrate (a Fleet enema doesn't clear out the upper colon). If it doesn't clear out by 2 am, I can't do the colonoscopy tomorrow. Seriously?!"

"If I could give this rating a zero, I would. A total waste of $120.00. Took both doses, and nothing happened, but I felt bloated. Thank goodness I had an oral bottle of Fleet's Phospho Soda in the house. It did the trick."

"I read these reviews religiously before my first colonoscopy a few weeks ago. My experience with Prepopik was very positive. I took the first dose around 5:40 pm. Within 40 minutes, I was on the toilet. This was on and off until 11. I fell asleep and woke up for the second dose at 2:30. This time I was not able to complete the required liquids. I was so nauseated. I finished up around 5 and slept until my appointment time. The diarrhea was a liquid from the beginning, and I was petrified that my colon was not clean enough. Turns out, it was gorgeous. My colonoscopy went without a hitch. My only complaint is nausea, and that wasn't too awful."

"I have a colonoscopy every three years, so this isn't my first rodeo! I have successfully used Golytely and Suprep in the past. This time, the nurse wrote a script for Prepopik. I was on clear liquids the day before the scheduled colonoscopy. At 8 pm, I consumed the first packet of Prepopik mixed with 5 oz of water and chased it within 2 hours with 50 oz of water. I waited and waited but felt nothing, not even a little toot! At 4 am, I took the second packet mixed with 5 oz of water. I chased it with 24 oz of water within an hour. I waited again but felt nothing until 7:30 am when I had a very small movement. My stool never cleared more than normal diarrhea. I was forced to cancel my 10:30 am colonoscopy appointment. Never again!"

"Prep for colonoscopy with Prepopik began at 4 pm. I drank the first five ounces of prep followed with five 8-ounce cups of water. Nothing happened for five hours. At 10 pm, while I was stirring the second packet of Prepopik, I felt the urge to eliminate. I was up all night going to the restroom, the final trip taking place at 6 am. My colonoscopy procedure began at 9 am and was stopped because my colon was not fully prepared for the procedure. My doctor said afterward that I will need to use another form of colonoscopy prep and undergo the procedure a second time within the next two weeks. Prepopik is an absolute fail!"
