For Urinary Tract Infection "Eased the symptoms of urinary tract infection in 2 days. Side effects are pretty bad, though. I was prescribed the 500 mg twice a day, and every time I've taken the pill, I feel extremely nauseous for at least an hour or two. I'm only on the second day, and I feel so sick after taking it, and have vomited once because of it. I have followed the instructions and taken it with food every time. These side effects just seem unavoidable for me."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have never experienced negative side effects from any medication I was taking till now. Day 3 and my fever is down, but urinating is still a struggle. Every muscle, tendon, and bone in my body is in immense pain. I haven't been able to eat or sleep during this time due to the massive stomach cramps and being stuck at the verge of vomiting. I can honestly say I would never use this or let someone in my family use it. It feels like my body is dying. I will be contacting my doctor today."

For Bacterial Infection "Couldn't open my hand; swelling on part of the hand; extreme tiredness; vomiting and diarrhea last day; some ringing in the ears; had back pain after finishing - hard to get up from a low seat, wonder if it's related to the medicine? Wouldn't recommend this medicine for anyone and feel it should be taken off the market."

For Sinusitis "This medication made me nauseous every time I took it, but I continued to take it. On the 7th day, I became very ill. Chills, vomiting, hurting, and I stayed in bed for 2 days except for going to the Instant Care. They said I had an allergic reaction. The doctor also gave me a 1-pill medication to prevent a yeast infection."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Began taking this medicine when I was in pain for a strong UTI. This medicine has made me feel the worst I've ever felt in my life. Constantly throwing up, extremely high fever (104), dizzy, confused, blurred vision, chills, insomnia, and the most painful back, ribs, neck, and leg pain. As well, it makes you urinate less frequently, and that put together with not being able to hold down water, how is this supposed to make me 'better'? I have never been one who is sensitive to medication, but due to the amount of dehydration and pain I've been caused, I'm currently sitting in a hospital hooked up to an IV. I wouldn't suggest this medication to anyone, ever."

Ciprofloxacin for Salmonella Gastroenteritis "22 yr old female, got prescribed Cipro for stomach flu symptoms without testing what the cause actually was. Had pretty bad side effects - nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, chills, couldn't sleep at night. Ended up going to the ER because I got dehydrated and couldn't stop throwing up :( Wouldn't recommend unless you get tested and it's the only alternative."

For Urinary Tract Infection "My experience is not one size fits all. I have a kidney transplant, and because of that, I should have been given this medicine at 250 mg. Instead, they prescribed 500. I was very sick to the point of fever, so I didn't do my own research that day. I just took the meds and tried to sleep. It was the second day that I realized I got very sick and vomited each time, and when I researched, I found I should not take 500 mg because of my transplant, my body could not break it down. I was then prescribed it at 250 and stopped vomiting. It took my infection completely away."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I am on ciprofloxacin for 3 days along with pyridium for a UTI. I have felt nauseous, heady, tired, and have had increased anxiety since starting these meds. Today I had dry heaves, nausea, drained feeling, and a full-blown panic attack. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow for a possible replacement. I am going on vacation on Thursday and don't want any of these side effects. UTI symptoms are better, but I don't think it is cleared up fully. Scared."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Many of the symptoms described in these posts can be a result of the urinary tract infection itself. I had fever, the chills, nausea, vomiting, headache, and tender abdomen. As soon as I went on Cipro, most of those symptoms subsided. I took a couple of days to knock back the fever."

For Pneumonia "I have received this drug ciprofloxacin to treat pneumonia. It was not until 5 days were up that my temperature returned to normal. In addition, the side effects were close to unbearable. Nausea and vomiting until Day 4 when I received an anti-nausea drug used to ease chemotherapy. Excruciating all-body muscle pain, needing double doses of extra strength Tylenol. I also felt very depressed. Other drugs previously prescribed produced the same results without these side effects. I intend to avoid this drug in the future."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed 500 mg, twice a day, for 3 days. I took the first pill and the second pill 12 hours later. I was able to eat and drink plenty of water. I felt awesome, and my minor UTI felt 100% better. I got to work, ate soup, came home after taking the 3rd pill, and began to have extreme stomach pain 2 hours later. I then began to have diarrhea, and then I started vomiting everything I had eaten that day. I tried drinking water and ginger ale to calm my stomach and keep liquids in, and whatever I drank I would wind up vomiting it out. It was horrible because I couldn't keep anything down. I couldn't walk and had to crawl around because I was so dizzy. I called the urgent care that prescribed them to me, and they told me to stop taking them. The body chills and aches are affecting me, and I still don't have an appetite. They prescribed me Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin), so we will see how that goes, but I will never take ciprofloxacin again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Had a severe UTI but didn't start getting any symptoms until it was too late and became unbearable. My doctor prescribed 500 mg twice a day of ciprofloxacin. After the first pill, symptoms went away. No more sudden urgency or burning or spasms in the groin. However, after the third pill I took, I experienced severe nausea and vomiting and started to become extremely drowsy. So far, it's a great medicine overall, it's just some of the minor side effects are a tad unbearable."

For Kidney Infections "I was given these from the hospital for a severe kidney infection. The dosage was two 500 mg for 5 days. Worst tablets I've ever been on, they made me want to self-detonate. They have even given me jaundice, which is a 1 in 1,000 chance. They were very fast-acting towards the kidney and kidney pain, which is good, but side effects were very, very nasty. Side effects I experienced: - severe nausea - dry mouth - vomiting - dizziness - abdominal pain - headache - muscle aches - confusion - extreme fatigue - fever and cold sweats - jaundice (yellowing of skin, eyes, and urine). I've been off the tablets for about 48 hours now (thank God), but now need time to be treated for jaundice. The only good thing I can say about these is that they are very fast-acting. I wouldn't recommend these at all, even if you are desperate, please ask for something else."

For Urinary Tract Infection "The side effects outweigh the benefits. Vomiting for days and then joint pain, swelling, and out-of-control pain in hand and foot for days. Had to go to a walk-in clinic and then the doctor's office. Had to miss work. Do not take this medicine!"

For Kidney Infections "I have been taking these tablets since late Tuesday. I'm on a 500mg, 10-day cycle for a chronic kidney infection. The hospital sent me away with the tablets and advised that if I was no better within 48 hours, I was to go straight to A&E. I have taken 4 tablets now. I was feeling sick and vomiting before I started to take these tablets, so I can't blame that on the tablet now. I can honestly say the only problems I am having with this tablet are the dreams, they are so awful, vivid, and terrifying. It's hard to try and get back to sleep when you know what you're gonna face on the other side, but all I want to do is sleep and rest. Overall, I genuinely think the tablets are doing their job. I shall let you know if I end up in the hospital this evening."

For Crohn's Disease "OMG! I was given this for colitis and had the worst side effects ever! Initially, I just had bad headaches, dizziness, and vomiting. The doctor prescribed anti-nausea medication for nausea and said to take Tylenol. By day 4 of a 10-day course, I am having crazy thoughts, nightmares, and even hallucinated a super scary being. Scared my husband and child, screaming my lungs out in terror. Off the scale anxiety, agitation, and hysterical crying, which caused me to melt down at my job of 30 years! This has been a complete nightmare. The side effects are heinous and can have long-term consequences. For your sake and sanity, stay far, far away from this dangerous drug! I took it for colitis and still have pain, so not sure if it even helped."

Ciprofloxacin for Urinary Tract Infection "Took this drug two times. One time I ended up puking nonstop, and the doctor felt it was a fluke but prescribed me something else. Second time, when I got a bladder infection and was prescribed Cipro, I had extreme leg pain. Barely could walk, so the doctor sent me to the ER, thinking it was a blood clot. Nope. Stopped Cipro, and I got better. Apparently, this is not unusual with Cipro. Not comfortable at all using this drug and do not recommend it. It was a nightmare. I believe this drug is a black box drug if I remember correctly."

For Bladder Infection "This is the worst antibiotic I have ever taken. I took it for 4 days. I've only been able to eat very little, my stomach is burning, I have cramps, and I'm puking. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. I'm losing weight back. I couldn't take it the full 7 days, it's too harsh on the system. I stopped for 2 days and still have horrible side effects."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed it for a kidney infection that I may or may not have had. They did no further testing besides a urinalysis to see if I had an STI. I took it from Wed to Sun and stopped taking it Sunday due to nausea. Now it is Tuesday evening, and I am still nauseous, feel dissociated and weak. This drug is the only antibiotic with a BLACK BOX WARNING, it should not be prescribed unless very serious. Try Bactrim for that. The adverse reactions are muscle pains, tendon rupture, GI upset, nausea, vomiting, low blood sugar, and mental health effects. I have been struggling with my mental health, and now this is added on top of it. I should have known better than to take this med."

For Bacterial Infection "Off of one dose, I got all the bad side effects hours later: sweating, diarrhea, vomiting, skin turning pale, and it felt like I had pins and needles sticking in my head. I can't believe that I have all these side effects on top of food poisoning, it seems very dangerous."
