For Kidney Infections "Was prescribed this for a kidney infection. After only one dose, experienced: nightmares, insomnia, paranoia, an odd feeling of being out of my body. By the 3rd dose, I was afraid to go into a dark room, was crying constantly, and had feelings of overwhelming doom. By dose 5, my legs were tingling and weak and psychological symptoms worsening. Also, after this dose, my infection made a comeback and antibiotic resistance was to blame. They put me on Bactrim. Before ciprofloxacin, I was a very sane, very healthy woman, and this drug changed me. Ten days later, I still feel off."

Ciprofloxacin for Kidney Infections "Don’t take this. I’ve been taking it for three days, and I can’t sleep, I’m in pain, my Achilles tendons hurt. My legs have pins and needles, and they are extremely restless. My heartbeat is irregular and fast. My mental health has plummeted. I don’t know what to do. I can’t take this for five more days, I have to stop. I just want these side effects to be over, this is a nightmare."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I had received this drug first around '97 for pneumonia. Not long after, I became breathless. I was told I was asthmatic and put on inhalers. I had sleep/insomnia problems, my back/joints started to give me problems, and I had concentration problems, skin and GI issues, teeth, etc. By the start of 2001, apart from energy crashes, concentration, and back problems, I seemed fine. I had surgery on my back in March '01, and problems resurfaced. This led to further surgery in '07. Apart from a few issues, I was fine until I got the drug again in '08. Various issues were reported, I told them all. I was advised I would never get it again. I received it in June '16, and I had an immediate adverse reaction. This time, my life has been ruined. Musculoskeletal atrophy, cognitive issues, eyesight, skin, collagen depletion. I was advised I doubt I had asthma, breathing issues, central nervous system/autonomic nerve system damage, hair problems, teeth. Life ruined this time."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was placed on this antibiotic because Bactrim gives me nasty side effects, and I told my doctor that, so she gave me this. Never been on this for a UTI before, and I’ve had a UTI every 4 months almost ON THE DOT for the past 2 years. Literally have been to urgent care 4/3, was just back there on 9/3. So about every 4-5 months, I’m back there. Anyway, she put me on this one, and so far the only major side effect is that I’ve had trouble sleeping, and my feet get really dry. ALSO THE WORST ONE is that urgency to pee is just hanging around, like I still have a UTI or something, and I’m on day 4 out of 5 of treatment. Just hoping this awfulness ends soon. I bought AZO urgency pain relief pills, and those always help."

For Prostatitis "I had chronic prostatitis for years. Took ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice daily. The first few days it worked like magic, all my symptoms almost completely gone. By the end of the first week, symptoms returned somehow. After 2 weeks of treatment, symptoms were all there back again. Completed 45 days (over 6 weeks) of treatment and then stopped it. Don't know exactly why it didn't work. Side effects included some headache, dizziness, anxiety, and lack of sleep."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Day 3 cont.: I stayed indoors but wore a hat and sunglasses when I went out to buy the moisturizer. About 10 hours after taking the last pill, I experienced pain in my abdomen around the right hip/groin area. The pain felt worse each time I went pee, and I also noticed it felt worse when I went from standing to sitting and vice versa. I could feel the pain travel down my body toward my bladder over the course of 5 hours. I kept pushing fluids to try to rid my body of the ciprofloxacin. I will never take this medication again! I'm terrified that, like so many others, my body is going to break down on me in the upcoming months. I am writing this on the night of Day 3. Trouble falling asleep again."

For Prostatitis "I have had a terrible experience. Do not take this unless it is a life or death situation! I was prescribed for prostatitis and got hives, sweats, anxiety, sleep issues, and more. This should not even be an option, especially when others are available."

For Prostatitis "I’ve had one course and have chronic fatigue symptoms, heart pounding, shaking, and burning in my left arm through to my thumb, and if I stand up, I feel like throwing up. I break into tears every few hours and asked my misses if she would help me do a will. My head hurts, and I can’t remember things, and my eyes hurt, and I have a constant humming in my head and can’t sleep as I’m in a constant panic attack with a pounding heart. That was 4 days ago, and only two tablets 500. Imagine how you would be after a course of 28, two a day. I've never been so sick and scared. Read the reviews and take note of the percent that it helps. You have one body and one life, and everyone reacts differently. I hope this makes you do your research as it’s not the only antibiotic, but it’s pushed first and has the most severe side effects."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Prescribed ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for UTI. Bad experience. Had 90% of side effects. Had side effects before reading what they may be. Aches, pains, rash, and not sleeping at all. Stopped taking and got a new antibiotic. Felt better 2 days later. I will never take Cipro again. Seems it works for some people. Not for me."

For Sinusitis "DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION CIPROFLOXACIN! I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION! Let's see where do I start? I was paranoid, did not go to sleep for 24 hours, could not stop going to the bathroom, I had weird movements (my thumb would move for no reason), my fingers were tingling, sometimes I was hot, sometimes I was cold. I was nervous, anxious, scared, and could not keep still in the shower just to wash myself. 22 hours later I have a smell that I can't get out of my nose that smells like bleach. I'm hoping it goes away. Oh, and let's not forget the tightness in my throat and how my bones would hurt to the point standing up was difficult. My husband said I woke up out of my sleep, jumped out of the bed, and got in the shower. I don't even remember doing that, which is another side effect called 'confusion or memory loss.' Let's just say I said a lot of prayers that night because I thought I wasn't going to make it."
