For Urticaria "I've been taking the generic for 3 months. Glad to see other posters talking about the grogginess and sedated feeling the next day after taking it at night. Just a few breakouts that are gone by morning along with my energy. The one thing is I take it at night and can't sleep for about 2-4 hours after taking it."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I have taken cetirizine daily for a few months and have noticed my allergies are now much more under control. Unfortunately, it hasn't been a complete package: I also use azelastine nasal spray for allergy prophylaxis. Though it is a common side effect, I never experienced drowsiness, even when taking it early in the day."

"The medication works incredibly well for me when it comes to asthma attack prevention. Studies have even proven this as a clinically effective benefit of cetirizine. Allergic asthma/rhinitis asthma. It feels as if my lungs are no longer inflamed or gunked up with phlegm. (I know, gross) I have even been given the go-ahead by my doctor, if my asthma is severe, I can take 20 mg as needed, even though it has a ceiling effect (like all 2nd gen antihistamines), it can still benefit my asthma. I don't experience many side effects, however, I also take clonidine, so taking the two together can make me feel slightly more sedated than clonidine alone, but it's not significant enough to bother me. I personally take the gel variants as they are easier to take and, at least to me, are faster acting."
