"I started this (500 mg 2x a day) due to strep throat and also a finger/cuticle infection. The strep throat was 85% better within 24 hours, and now on day 3, the inflammation and infection in my finger is definitely and noticeably going away. In addition, I feel great! So much energy! I’m so grateful because the strep really wiped me out before I got this medicine started. I feel so good now I wish I felt this energetic all the time! LOL. I guess my body does well on antibiotics. Take good care, and I hope you feel better soon too."

"I am currently on cephalexin 500mg × 4 times a day for my strep throat and UTI. It has completely taken my appetite, so I now have to force myself to eat. My stomach hurts so bad, severe headaches, diarrhea, and hot and cold flashes, and all I want to do is sleep all day. I'm only on day four and have 3 more to go if I can make it."

"Was prescribed cephalexin for an infection after a previous antibiotic didn’t work. The infection almost completely cleared up within 24 hours. Worked very well and would definitely recommend. Side effects: sore stomach and dry/bloodshot eyes. Both went away after I finished the course of antibiotics."

"I saw a doctor, and he gave me this: take 4 daily for a week! I'm on day 6, and I feel so lost and can't even think straight. It had diarrhea and I feel so tired where I can't even stay up without wanting to just close my eyes, and also dizzy and headaches. I think I got a high dose for something kind of little. I have this small blister from breastfeeding, and the doctor must have thought it was something else, but so far it kind of helped heal it. But the side effects are so bad. I'm going back to the doctor because I can't take these meds anymore. I hate this feeling."

"I had an infection on my leg from diabetes. 1 cephalexin pill, and I feel like puking, headache, sore shoulders, freezing, and I’m always hot. In September, I live in Washington State, and I’m covered in a blanket and quilt."

"My gyn placed me on Keflex 3x per day at 500 mg each for 7 days, for removal of a polyp located while in for an annual gyn visit. This is the 2nd time I've had these odd polyps, the first time in 2017. My doctor after the 2017 removal was proactive this time, ensuring no bacteria stirred up, due to my reaction to the bacterial infection caused from 2017 polyp removal. I am very pleased and thankful for his proactive approach, because I felt like I was going to die in 2017 because of the infection it caused. Not the doctor's fault at all, the polyp was infected. Keflex has prevented me from any further complications at this time, and I'm grateful."

"I'm currently halfway through my Keflex treatment for a skin infection on my ankle. I'm prescribed 500 mg twice a day for 30 days. I wish I could be one of the few to say this has been a pleasant experience. I'm not sure if whatever this infection is is just highly resistant or was just that bad, but I'm on week 3 and have only seen mild improvement so far. Plus, this stinky antibiotic is making me miserable... nausea, diarrhea 5 times a day on average, stomach cramps, and joint aches. I've been taking probiotics the entire time I've been on Keflex because I've always had issues with yeast infections even prior to this. I plan on calling the doctor tomorrow to see if I have any alternatives."

"I have been prescribed Cephalexin twice so far; each time for foot surgery to prevent infection. The first time, I had no problems. This time, however, I am finding that I am extremely gassy, although I haven't seen this as a side effect anywhere. The only other medication I am on at the moment is 800 mg Ibuprofen, but I have only taken one of those so far. I also find myself waking up to a bit of a sore throat, and tonight I had a coughing fit and feeling like I was going to throw up. I'm not sure if this is the cause of the Cephalexin, but I just thought I'd share."

"Finished a week on Keflex for a skin infection on my leg, so severe I could not put weight on my leg. Back to ER, put on Clindamycin 300 mg x 3 for 10 days. Come back if no improvement after 3 days. After 3 days, pain has improved, swelling better, must be working. Makes me tired and a little dizzy. Take probiotics for any GI issues. Always take with food."

"I was prescribed a week's worth of cephalexin, four 500 mg capsules a day for a possible UTI. For the first 2-3 days of taking this medication, I felt like a bloated, dizzy, tired zombie and didn't feel an improvement. For one of those days, I got horrible constipation and indigestion. I couldn't pass gas. It scared me and made me anxious. I began to question whether this medication would actually work for me. I also recommend taking a probiotic with this medication since it does go hard on your digestive system in my experience. Thankfully, by the middle of the 3rd day, I finally felt some relief and started to feel a bit better. I had less pain. Unfortunately, though, the next couple of days were a rollercoaster with the persistent stomach pain and constipation. After treatment, urine tests came back free of infection. I still have some stomach pain, dizziness, fatigue, and some constipation, though hopefully it goes away soon. I will keep treating and healing my stomach with probiotics. Maybe I would try another medication next time."

"My heart raced, I was agitated and shaking, my mouth and lips felt like sunburned inside my mouth and outside. We need an investigation into where this medicine is made? DO NOT TAKE IT. Prescribed for a UTI, and when I stopped taking it, I had to take Benadryl. THROW IT AWAY! I had taken Keflex and did not have the severe reaction. There are blisters on the top of my mouth today. I started the med Saturday, and this is only Tuesday."

"I have an abscess growing in my nose. Basically, it is a pus-filled pimple. Very disgusting to know this is inside my sensitive nose. I was prescribed 500 mg 4 times a day. Within the 4th dose, I noticed the pain in my nose less and less. I am on day 4, and although I feel the occasional tenderness in my nose, the meds are working. But...I feel horrible. I have constant stomach cramps, tightness where it hurts to bend over or reach for something where I use my stomach muscles. I have gas, and I'm bloated. I feel dizzy to the point I occasionally lose balance. So far, I haven't had diarrhea, probably because I tend to be constipated lately due to other issues. I have, though, used the bathroom twice a day, but it is a relief to go."

"I had folliculitis. My doctor prescribed 500 mg to me 4 times a day for ten days. I had to stop at day 6. I had diarrhea up to 5 times a day. Then I got a yeast infection on my penis right after I stopped taking cephalexin. Currently, I have candida overgrowth and it is not going away. I wished I never took this antibiotic... it does more harm than it does help."

"The drug did help with my infection in my mouth that I had gotten from a piercing, but the side effects are awful. I was told to take 4 a day for 10 days, and I've had to expand the days because I cannot take 4 a day without wanting to pass out or throw up. I get so nauseous and am extremely tired from it. If you do take this pill, make sure you eat A LOT."

"Seems to help with the infection, which I thought was internal hemorrhoids but became a mass of bacteria under the skin. I think it was able to block further infection from occurring. Always get a little dizzy from this medicine, but it works."

"Took this drug and got the following results: a dislocated hip; a tear in the tendon of my right foot and hands and thumbs that are inflamed and very painful. It affected my joints and tendons. The literature does not recommend for women over 60 or on Metformin. Stay away from this drug. It can be devastating."

"I was given cephalexin to help with a cyst on my ear cartilage and earlobe. The area on the backside of my lobe was noticeably smaller by the third or fourth day. (So about halfway through.) I saw an ENT, and he numbed and drained my ear cartilage and gave me the same prescription. So far, so good. I also have a prescription I haven't yet taken because it's for after surgery in a few days."

"On Keflex 500 mg for 4 days, then Ancef by IV for 6 days, and then 1000 mg Keflex for 3 days, and major vertigo started. Have self-removed meds as it is a weekend and no one to call. Was to be on for another week. It is for cellulitis that came back from treatment a month ago. It seems to have cured that. I have been reading stuff online about Keflex and hearing loss and ear problems, e.g., vertigo, and it is well worth doing some looking up about it. Hope it resolves quickly so I can return to work on Monday."

"Doc gave me 3x500 mg per day for an infection. He wasn't sure what type of infection it could be but was sure it was either a UTI or a kidney infection... believe me, I felt terrible for 3 weeks. I took my first one before I went to bed and felt great the next morning. I am 4/7 days into my course, and I feel like a different person. Absolutely no side effects at all, and this has restored my faith in medication."

"I was treated for a number of bumps (infected) in the vaginal area. I also have untreated diabetes; maybe that is why she gave me a powerful antibiotic. I'm also scared to have good bacteria taken away, but the pain was unbearable; I couldn't walk or sit. After one dose before bed, I have fallen into a deep sleep after each pill... Still awake after dose 4 though. I feel so much better. I haven't had other side effects. It still burns when I pee - I pour water down there at the same time; seems to work. Sounds like fewer side effects for UTI patients than for other infections. I also boiled hot water with garlic (all natural vegan) and drank it like soup before going to the doctor, and I also placed a warm compress to treat it naturally... worked. (Garlic is supposed to be a cure-all for yeast infections.) So now I'm just waiting to see if the bumps clear up by the end of these pills. I can walk comfortably now."

"It was great. Cephalexin 500 mg capsules were prescribed for an infection on my ankle. A piece of wood made a shallow scrape, and in 3 days my whole foot was swollen and had redness all around the area. I immediately sent my doctor's pictures, and she prescribed Cephalexin 500 mg 4x daily along with Mupirocin 2% ointment. In just 2 days, the redness began to subside. The treatment was for 10 days. I am on my 5th day, and it's almost healed perfectly. I always get prescribed Cephalexin 500 mg or Amoxicillin 500 mg. Thank you to the doctors and scientists who developed these antibiotics."

"Drug works, but it can nearly kill you. Side effects for me were the same as a heart attack. If you're allergic, it can kill you. Take at your own risk. If you are allergic to penicillin, DO NOT TAKE IT. The doctor will tell you only 1-10% of people show reactions, but you could be that 1% and be dead, too. It was a bad experience."

"I took this medicine on two different occasions for an infection, and on both occasions, it made my throat swell up, hard to swallow, extreme dry mouth to where I had to take sips of water every 10 seconds for hours on end just to keep my mouth wet! I was prescribed 500 mg 4 times a day. Didn't even get past the 1st day. It also gave me diarrhea that smelled just like the pills do. Made me nauseous. Will never touch again."

"I was prescribed 500 mg at 3 times daily for a cyst that I didn't have (the 'doctor' gave me a 5-second exam). Three days later, I'm out of bed at 3:00 a.m. with my neuropathy more painful than ever. Since then, I've been experiencing 'spells' or 'episodes' in which I experience severe disorientation, painful vertigo, respiratory and circulatory problems. It also rendered me impotent (all of which has been going on since August 2015). I also have little control of urinating as I cannot tell when, nor can I feel the urine leaving. I can't even stop it 'midstream'. My gut is finally returning to 'normal', yet, because of what the cephalexin did, I still need to be near facilities when I have to go."
