For Bacterial Infection "I'm currently on my 5th day of cephalexin 500 mg 4X a day. I have an abscess from shaving with a dull razor and not using shaving gel, that's what I'm thinking anyway. Anyway, this antibiotic is really messing me up. I'm anxious, paranoid around people, super irritable, I feel scared in general. My stomach is distended and I'm constipated and retaining water. I want to stop, but I'm scared to. I'm going to call my doctor. Thanks everyone for posting about your experience. Helping me a lot."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "My doctor, as soon as I start to see the onset of one of these cysts, goes ahead and prescribes me Cephalexin 500 mg capsules. And they don't even form into what looks like a little bug bite. And again, it's gone in under two days. Because I'm not sure I could deal with another Mount St. Helena cyst like before. It disrupted everything I did. It made it hard to sleep, just sit there, putting tops on, for sure, walking, dancing, being goofy with my kids, and much, much more. So for me, Cephalexin is a miracle-working drug. It's freed up a lot of my life from so much pain and allowed me to be the real me again! :) <3"

Cephalexin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a blister that got infected from wearing tight boots for a few hours and then I had it! I got an infection, so I went to the nurse and got me some pills of Keflex for 4X a day for five days and an antibiotic cream. I feel much better. Don't ever wear tight shoes, ever."

For Bacterial Infection "I suffered a urinary tract infection a week ago and went to the doctor when they prescribed me Clindamycin 300 mg 3 times in 3 days and Cipro 500 mg every 12 hours. I couldn't take either of them because I can't swallow big pills, and I'm afraid Cipro is a little strong for me. I get real anal when it comes to taking medicine like this, for I have a fear of side effects and haven't taken antibiotics before. I went back just the other day and switched medicines and I'm taking this, a liquid form 250 mg every 6 hours in four days for 10 days. It tastes really good and it smells good, looks like Pepto-Bismol. I always take it with food and I have no side effects, and so far it's working great! I highly recommend anyone to take this medicine that suffers urinary tract infection."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Was prescribed Keflex for a minor but painful infection as a result of an ingrown toenail. Took 250 mg 3x/day for seven days and saw results after one day. Only side effect was acid reflux immediately after taking the pill. I also take probiotics every day, so that may have helped to prevent other side effects."

For Bladder Infection "Got a UTI. Dr. gave me Macrobid at first, and I was so dizzy and nauseous that I couldn't work. After he called in cephalexin, I immediately felt better. In fact, the first two days I felt great. The next five days I was tired, but that has been the only side effect. This is my last day of it. I do think I got a yeast infection, despite taking some probiotics, though I forgot on two days. I used Monistat last night, just in case. I usually have such horrid symptoms with any antibiotics that I'm glad this one didn't give me bad side effects. I'll definitely request it again if needed. In the meanwhile, I'll go back to D-Mannose, which does an amazing job at preventing UTIs."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "It's a wonder drug. I had an infection on my acne, and my cheek was swollen. The doctor prescribed me cephalexin 500 mg four times a day for 7 days. It works very quickly. Within some hours, the deep purple inflammation completely subsides. And the swelling has reduced drastically. I was amazed... On top of it, I also got Fucidin cream to apply to the affected area. Cephalexin works wonders!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I have folliculitis that started from an insect bite. This medicine works, but my skin feels so hot all over my body when I take it. It feels feverish, but no actual fever. It does work very well, though. I'm just so hot!"

For Bacterial Infection "I had a combination of an infection after an extraction, as well as a skin infection that hurt very badly (both things). I was prescribed 500 mg of cephalexin every 6 hours. By the second day, they were both feeling so much better. I was hesitant because I've had allergic reactions to other antibiotics and a severe reaction to Bactrim. Thankfully, nothing like that with this medication, but it does cause a very inconvenient stomach upset that causes me to have to get to the bathroom in a hurry throughout the day. I have noticed I'm more tired, I'm not sure if that's a side effect from the medication alone or because of having to use the bathroom so often. But I push through the negatives because it has done wonders for the infections."

For Bladder Infection "I'm 24 weeks and 4 days pregnant. My doctor prescribed me this medicine. I haven't had any side effects. I'm on the 4th day of taking it. Everything is going good. The only bad thing is the smell, I about get sick because of it."

For Kidney Infections "Taken two rounds of antibiotic cephalexin for a UTI. Whilst it does appear to be helping the infection, I’m depressed, jittery, severely anxious, joint and muscle aches, dehydrated, and sunken eyes!!! Nightmares and adrenaline. It is so awful. I cannot wait to finish this drug."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Horrible medicine. My doctor prescribed me cephalexin for an infected boil that I burst and got infected. I was told to take 4 tabs, 500 mg daily for 7 days. I'm a lupus patient already taking plaquenil 400 mg daily. Anyway, I went after 7 days, the infection wasn't healed yet, so my doctor told me to continue for 10 more days. But when I started to continue, I got a horrible rash all over my arms and neck. Along with this, I got continuous headaches, so I stopped the medication. But the rash is still there, and I'm getting blisters on my body. Thinking of going to the emergency room."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a cyst removed and was given cephalexin to stop it from getting infected. Took the first one at 2:30 pm, finished the workday, ate dinner at 7:30. Then started getting side effects, the chest pain started by 12:00. I could barely breathe, and the chest pain is so severe now. Pain in the shoulders and neck, it hurt to breathe. Cannot lay down, else, the pain gets two times as bad. At the hospital now: chest X-ray, CT scan, blood tests, ultrasound. Nitroglisoran helped a little, all tests came back negative for heart blockages. The next day, a little better, I got to the doctor. Said I had a reaction to this antibiotic. I will never take this again, close to death after taking one pill."

For Bladder Infection "I took cephalexin 500 for ten days following a 5-day stay at my local hospital (with IV antibiotics) for a bladder infection. It did nothing for my infection. But I did get a few nasty side effects: diarrhea, nightmares, and muscle pain. This medication did not work for me."

Cephalexin for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "With only 4 doses of 500 mg in 3 days instead of 3 a day, my symptoms got progressively worse. Blurred vision, dizziness, rash, leg pain and swelling, heat sensations in legs, muscle pain, back pain, swelling and pain in the stomach, and extreme fatigue. Stopped taking and reported adverse reaction to the pharmacy and will tell the doctor. Very glad I did not take the full dose. Use with caution if you are sensitive to meds."

For Bacterial Infection "I started this cephalexin antibiotic to prevent infection after having a tummy tuck. After three days, I developed dizziness/vertigo, slight confusion, and being tired. It felt almost like I slept too much all the time, kind of foggy. At first, I brushed it up to the major surgery I just had, but after a while, I started to panic. I called the surgeon’s office, and they recommended that I come off of the pain meds I had been given. It’s been days without pain meds, but I’m still feeling really out of it and dizzy. I found that this could be a symptom of this antibiotic. I took my last one today, so I will be back to update everyone on whether it goes away or not. I really hope it does."

Cephalexin for Acne "I started taking this medication initially for an infection from a bug bite. After three days of being on the medication, I noticed all of my skin is clear and appears to be glowing, and my pores have shrunk so much. I’m in my early 30s and still suffer from acne occasionally, mostly hormonal acne, and this is amazing. I don’t want to get off of it now. I was on doxycycline for months in my early 20s, which also had a similar effect. The only side effects from this medication initially were a headache and diarrhea, but that went away after one day, and I’m staying on probiotics to help regulate."

Cephalexin for Bladder Infection "I was born in 1956 with severe bladder and kidney problems. At 6 days old, I had 7 surgeries within 18 months. I underwent another surgery at age 18. We had a hard time finding an antibiotic that worked well. My doctor found Keflex, I have been using the brand name Keflex since I was 18. I'm 64 now. The generic drug does not work for me. As of this month, I have been unable to find brand name Keflex. Please don't stop making this drug! Thank you."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I've been taking this medication for about 4 days now. It's done an excellent job dispersing the infection below my tooth and behind my eardrum. The condition was very painful at one point, and I hardly notice an issue now."

Cephalexin for Bladder Infection "I've always taken ciprofloxacin for my chronic bladder infections, but this time around my doctor said he can't give it to me because of a new study that has nothing to do with me. So... I get Keflex. It's extremely slow at getting to the infection. I'm on day three, and I'm just now starting to feel a little better... I think. It also gives me horrific heartburn, headaches, fatigue, and I can't poop."

For Kidney Infections "Have been using cephalexin for 2 days now due to a UTI which started on a Monday, then got worse and spread to a kidney infection by Tuesday, then had all the symptoms by Tuesday night and started taking cephalexin Wednesday afternoon, started working the next day, although I get random severe headaches, feel dizzy when standing, feel nauseous in the morning and with no appetite, but that will go once I've finished these antibiotics. I'd much rather be feeling like this than how I felt with no treatment on the kidney infection :)"

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed 500 mg every 12 hours for ten days to fight a bacterial problem stemming from a stye on my eye. The cephalexin is working after 2 days; however, it makes me itch; no hives, just mild itching. I make sure I take it with lots of water, and I am eating yogurt to make sure I do not get a yeast infection. If the itching worsens, I will obtain a different antibiotic. I am sure there is something else that won't make me itch. I had some other antibiotic when I had a root canal that did not make me itch."

For Bladder Infection "Given these 500g x 3 times a day capsules at the same time of suffering horrendous morning sickness. They smell horrendous, and I threw up ten minutes after taking one, and it burned the back of my throat and absolutely stunk, making me feel even worse. They seemed to clear up my bladder infection after two days, but I'm counting down every last tablet as they are huge. But yeah, they are good if you don't mind taking huge tablets."

For Bacterial Infection "I took it for ten days for a skin infection. Cleared it up in ten days. Despite taking so many probiotics and eating yogurt, I got severe diarrhea, and I STILL have mild diarrhea. Also, if you're a woman, be prepared for a yeast infection. It's driving me insane."

For Bacterial Infection "I started taking Augmentin for a bad sinus infection. I got to the last 3 doses when I went to see my PCP, and I told her I didn't feel any better. She prescribed cephalexin 500 mg twice daily. My sinus infection was gone within two days. I took probiotics with it the entire 10 days, and after the last dose, took 2 Diflucan. It worked great for me."
