For Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed with Bipolar II three and a half years ago. I have been on so many medications with not much luck. Lithium works fairly well to manage my mania. My deep depression has not been able to be managed. I have been on Vraylar for over 3 weeks and still feel unmotivated, depressed, and don’t know how to fill my whole day. I had nausea and restlessness. I take a medicine for the restlessness that seems to be working. I am just praying that this drug needs to just build up in my body. I need relief really soon. Going through life without happiness is so very, very bleak. I am using the coupon and paying $15.00. I take 1.5 mg in the morning. This is my second time trying Vraylar and staying at the lower dose. 3 mg caused my legs to give out."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Vraylar 1.5 MG for 3 years now, and it has by far surpassed any and every other bipolar medication I have ever taken, and I've been on a slew of medications for bipolar and major depression. Every other medication that I have been on pales in comparison. The best part is that while every other medication for bipolar and depression has completely taken away my sex drive, Vraylar wakes you back up! No doubt about it. I am on Vraylar 1.5 MG in the morning and amitriptyline 75 MG at night, and the combination is perfect. I haven't felt this great in ages. Racing thoughts are gone, and I can sleep. Major depression is considerably down to mostly tolerable. Sex drive is back, and so is passion. I have lived without both of those for, well, since 2005. That was rough. But I'm grateful for how well the combination works for me. The side effects are minimal: dry mouth and dry skin, some nausea on occasion, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I have also noticed that I haven't..."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was placed on this after failing Abilify. In hopes that it would manage hallucinations, paranoia, and any mania I would have, my doc insisted I try it even though I was feeling drowsy on the low dose of 1.5 mg. Cranked it up to 3 mg when my voices and paranoia continued and my depression worsened, which was later made to 4.5 mg when the 3 mg failed. That landed me in the ER, where I experienced incredible amounts of nausea and vomiting, pounding headache, and hallucinations, as well as a general feeling of malaise and confusion. So, not the drug for me at all. HOWEVER - I’ve watched a friend blossom while taking this medication, so while it may not be for everyone (including me), it may work well for others. It’s a pricy drug, so be sure to get the savings card from your doc!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I took the Vraylar once, and I won’t touch it again. I’m one of the unlucky few who experienced extreme nausea and vomiting after only one dose. I’m sad because I know it works well for so many people, just not for me."

For Schizophrenia "I rarely experience side effects from medications. I was only able to take 1.5 mg of Vraylar for 3 days (nights) because it caused horrible nausea. About 3-4 hours after taking it the first night, I was nauseous, then gagging, then vomiting. Throughout the day, I felt nausea, which lifted slightly around 11 pm, only to return a few hours after I took the next dose at 12 am. Tonight I didn't take it, I'm done, but still feeling slightly nauseous, and now I'm looking at the half-life of this drug (2-4 days!). It could be 2-3 weeks before I feel physically well again. Now I'm looking at the next medication I'm supposed to try, scared to death because of these side effects."

"I'm on the fence with this medication. I was prescribed this for treatment-resistant depression. Today is day ten. While it seems to be helping the depression, the side effects are almost too much. Weight loss/appetite suppression has been nice, but the shakiness, heartburn, nausea, cramping, bloating, increased insomnia, and (probably the worst) blurry vision. I keep hoping that it will go away, but so far..."

For Bipolar Disorder "I've got bipolar disorder, PTSD, and depression. I've been on many antipsychotics, and Vraylar is one of them. I get pain in my stomach, nausea, and vomiting. I've been on it for two weeks now. Hopefully, the symptoms will get better because I do have more energy. I don't know about the weight gain."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Vraylar for 27 days. This medication has been life-changing for me in a very positive way. I have schizoaffective disorder, but I was diagnosed with bipolar 1 for about 40 years before this new diagnosis. Vraylar has really helped me quit hallucinating, and my delusions are gone. I am no longer paranoid, and my mood swings went from really high and really low to a new, more stable middle ground. I have had some nausea and muscle tightness, but really, very few side effects! It's so amazing to just be me again!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I was given this medication for anxiety and depression because of my bipolar. I took this one time. One 1.5 mg tablet, and it made me super sleepy, so I fell asleep for 5 hours in the middle of the day. When I woke up, I felt so bad. Nausea, dizziness, headache, body aches. I could barely keep my eyes open. It’s now the next day. I slept through the night with some tossing and turning, and when I woke up, I still felt horrible. I still feel horrible. I slept for like a total of 15 hours. Everyone is different and reacts differently to medicine, but if you’re sensitive to medicine, be careful with this one."

For Bipolar Disorder "Vraylar is an effective mood stabilizer. Initially had nausea that subsided. Then I had insomnia and occasionally mild akathisia. I recently added trazodone for insomnia and anxiety, and it seems to be a great combination. Dx: bipolar 2 and GAD. Good luck on your search!"

"Well, I just recently started this medication, and I was reading the reviews on here, and I’m a little hesitant to continue being on it. Today will be my third day taking 1.5 mg of Vraylar. I am very worried about weight gain, I have lost over 80 pounds, and I do not want to gain any weight back. Also, I heard there is a possible side effect of developing diabetes. I am constantly a worrier, which is why my doctor feels I need to be on this medication, but I am very apprehensive and concerned. So far, it seems alright, I do get stomach pains and nausea from time to time and that tired, foggy feeling. At night has always been bad for me, and the medication seems to help relax me, where I’m not having intrusive thoughts like I did before I go to sleep. I take it every other day. I’m just hoping I will be one of the lucky ones who benefit from this medication and not have any serious side effects, including weight gain or diabetes."

For Schizophrenia "I feel like my old self! I am doing creative things like beadwork and enjoy learning again, like studying Spanish. Getting things done around the house. I have been stable on Geodon for 16 years, but was having dyskinesia. My only problem with Vraylar is the horrible insomnia. I am wondering if it will get better. A bit of nausea, but need to eat well is all. Overall, I am grateful for it."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have bipolar unspecified. I was super afraid to start a new med, especially one that is considered an antipsychotic (ugh, such a horrible name). Also, because I haven’t had a full-blown manic episode… anyway, my mood became so erratic I was willing to try anything. So we added half Vraylar twice a week (on top of my mood stabilizer), and it seems to be helping! My rapid cycling between anxiety, agitation, and depression immediately chilled out. Side effects were pretty mild - sleepiness, nausea, and a strange sense of my brain feeling like a dead battery, but after about a month, I have no more side effects other than indigestion. I would say if you're on the fence, give this a try! It’s very gentle so far."

For Bipolar Disorder "I absolutely didn't like being on this drug. It was prescribed for bipolar depression. The cognitive impairment was severe. I couldn't think well enough to write out a grocery list and go to the store. I made mistakes at work. I am a lifelong reader and couldn't pick up a book. I was also very, very drowsy, sleeping whenever I could. I was on a very low dose-1.5 once every 4 days. I had nausea the whole time I was on it. After giving it months' worth of a try, I finally told my psychiatrist 'nope.' I think it probably did help my depression a bit, but it wasn't anywhere near worth it given the life-altering horrible side effects. Oh, and don't get me started with the price-fortunately, I had samples from my doctor to start, but they were about to run out, and the pharmacy was going to charge me $1300 per month. Nope. Nope, nope, nope."

For Bipolar Disorder "Vraylar changed my life, it took me from being someone who experienced severe depressive episodes twice a year with mania mixed in to someone whose emotions are generally on an even keel. I don't feel like a zombie, I just feel like myself again. I do still experience some very mild depression around the time I would usually have a depressive episode, but it is so mild compared to the past that I am far better off with Vraylar. I did experience some nausea and boredom with TV, etc., for the first week or so, but it went away with time."

For Bipolar Disorder "This medication has extremely helped me with my bipolar 1 disorder, especially with my manic episodes. The only downfall is my side effect I’m experiencing, which is loss of appetite. I eat two bites, get full and nauseous, and can’t finish my food. That’s the only downfall, otherwise, it helped me a lot."

"I like it, but I’m also taking bupropion 300 mg and Lexapro 20 mg. The Vraylar was prescribed to me by my new primary during our first visit after I complained of feeling depressed and anxious. However, I’ve been taking the two other meds for at least 20 years and am scheduled to meet with my new psychiatrist as soon as I have relocated. Overall, I feel good, but I also feel antsy, nauseous, and anxious. Maybe that will change after my first visit with the new doctor."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was on 3 mg of this for one month, and it helped my mood and anxiety a lot, but the side effects were too much! I would wake up every day and either spend a couple of hours in agonizing nausea or just throw up. Zofran didn't even help with it. Sadly, I had to stop taking it because I couldn't tolerate it."

For Bipolar Disorder "So I just started Vraylar, and tonight is night 3 I have been on it. My doctor asked that I hang with it if at all possible with side effects, as it takes about a week to balance that out. I’m not sure how I feel, as I have really bad nausea, headaches, no appetite (no complaints with that though), lower tummy and back pain, drooling more at night, and really dry eyes. I’m sure my doctor is right, some will go away in time, but I'm scared not all will. I don’t think it’s been long enough to determine if it will help my bipolar 1 or not so far can’t tell anything at all there. Hope I’m not worrying overboard about these side effects."

For Bipolar Disorder "I rate this drug as interesting and promising, but not perfect. We all know drugs are never perfect. My only side effect is occasional nausea-possibly changes in sleep, but I take low doses of mirtazapine and gabapentin as a sleep aid. I’ve only been on it for a week. I would say some aspects are similar to lower doses of lithium. It’s an okay med for my bipolar 2."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have major depressive disorder with psychotic features, and I took Vraylar for the first time last night. Woke up with an extreme headache, nausea, and couldn't stop throwing up. I don't know if they could have been the medication just taking it one time, I don't know, but it seems too coincidental. I am scared to take it again."
