Buspirone for Panic Disorder "I also experienced my first asthma attack ever on this medication. I don't see it listed as an official side effect, but I've never encountered anything like it before, and just putting my 2 cents in. I've tried just about every SSRI and SNRI under the sun as well, so while I'm not guaranteeing it's not a coincidence, I'm pretty well past the point of attributing everything that happens to me to my medications. Aside from that, it worked maybe... 10%? But I think the majority of that was the sedation, which wears off as the sedation does. Other side effects for me were worse sleep, anger, nightmares, weight gain, and tiredness."

For Anxiety "I went on buspirone Jan 10, it is now the 30th. 20 days of half being good, but the last week I have had the worst panic attacks ever in my life being on this stuff. 7.5 mg x 2 twice a day. Heart palps, panic attacks, coldness, dizziness, tired eyes, back and chest muscles are tight, especially in between doses, yet everyone said wait the 3 weeks, no thank you! Today is the last day. Anxiety hasn't improved, and a massive panic attack almost sent me to the E.R. tonight, they were more constant on this stuff! I have had 4 attacks in my life, this week it's been 4/5 per day, every other day. Idk, tonight I thought I was going to lose my mind after I took them. The ending point was I could feel the meds kick in, but this last attack was so severe, it scared me. I know it was a weird reaction to these meds, 'cause now that it is out of my system, I feel fine. This drug is horrible."

For Anxiety "I started Buspar 2 days ago. I'm not sure if it is working. My personal situation is creating chaos in my life, and anxiety and panic attacks are everyday occurrences. I'm having serious problems being able to sleep after 2 a.m. (always woke up and can't go back to sleep). Today I'm trembling and have a terrible headache, nausea, and tiredness. I don't know if I should continue this med or stop it before I get worse. Can anybody experience these side effects in the first days and then get better? I don't know what to do, and I can't stand still."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I've been on this for about 3 weeks now. At first, I thought it was helping my anxiety a bit, but then I realized it was just making me tired and loopy after I took it, and that's worn off now (which is good, but now I realized it wasn't helping). Giving it 3 stars because it didn't hurt me except for the tired, loopy feeling, and I can't orgasm easily at all. Also, my appetite is gone, so I've lost some weight, which is nice except having no appetite meant I wasn't taking in enough calories, so I was even more tired. Basically, it was just pointless and didn't help."

For Anxiety "My doctor put me on this medicine on 2-17-2017 twice a day at 7.5 mg for my anxiety and stress levels. Today is 2-20-2017, and I'm already having issues. I ended up getting extremely lightheaded, heart racing, sweating, and dizzy all in the matter of five minutes. I went to go to the bathroom so I could try and feel better. Next time I remember, I was on the floor lying in a pool of my own vomit. At that time, I had no idea what was going on, what had happened, or anything. I ended up having a bad seizure. I was locked in place for five minutes, not breathing properly, and throwing up everywhere. I was extremely confused and exhausted, like I had just run a marathon. Went to bed and had another one six hours later."

Buspirone for Anxiety "My doctor prescribed due to its low dosage. And that I didn't want to take meds. I became so helpless after years of trying to cope with anxiety on my own, I finally reached a point where medicine was my only hope. It kicked in quickly, my obsessive thoughts stopped, then the dosage would wear off, so I started taking a higher dosage. Then it made me become upset, super emo crying, not myself, and finally realized it was BuSpar. Cut back dosage again. It made me tired all the time, couldn't concentrate, weird dreams, and loss of interest in things. Was not a good fit, I finally had to ask the doctor for something else after a year. It didn't work altogether except for stopping obsessive thoughts. It also gave me brain zaps, memory loss, and space cadet syndrome."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I recently started having panic attacks and was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. My doctor put me on Prozac, but after 5 days, I was having such horrible side effects that she switched me over to BuSpar 5mg in the morning and 5mg in the evening. I am to up my dosage after 5 days to 7.5mg in the morning and then again in the evening. However, I feel dizzy, upset stomach, and just exhausted. My doctor told me to give it time because I'm coming off a medicine and starting a new one at the same time. It is worse in the morning. I just want to feel better. I've had to take half of my 0.5mg Xanax just to take the edge off every day and have zero appetite. I'm feeling hopeless and need some encouragement and help."

For Anxiety "Not going to lie, I had this about a year, almost 2. I noticed when I am on this, I am more irritable, I have restless nights where I don't fall asleep or stay asleep. I noticed that my mindset has completely changed negatively, and it doesn't keep me calm or relaxed. I feel more nervous or anxious. I noticed if I am off of them, I get more emotional. I am telling you, this is not the medication for you, especially if you take half. I think it messes with my breathing too. I am more tired and low energy when I take this."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I started out taking 2 doses of 5 mg a day. The first few days, I did notice a little mood boost, but it didn’t last long. We raised my dose 5 more mg (15 mg a day) and same thing, but it went away. Didn’t help with my panic or separation anxiety. Did help with depersonalization. It made me tired, nauseous, and gave diarrhea the first couple of days. Those went away after that, but it did give me a weird feeling about 45 minutes after taking each dose. I tapered off after 2-3 months."

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "I have been on this for almost a year, and it helps, but not enough. I am on 10 mg three times a day. It honestly helps for maybe an hour tops, and then I feel the same again. I seriously hate having to take it three times a day. It really doesn't help that much either, maybe if I was on a higher dosage it would. It also makes me feel tired and groggy, sort of like I have taken Benadryl or something. I might as well just take Dramamine or Benadryl for the same exact effect. It's really not convenient having to take it three times a day either. I have severe anxiety, and it just doesn't do it for me. However, if you have mild anxiety, I think this might work great."

For Anxiety "This medication worked well for anxiety, except it leaves you with profound tiredness. I also experienced muscle pain in my lower back, neck, and legs. I eventually stopped taking it for the above reasons."

Buspirone for Anxiety "My doctor prescribed BuSpar 5. I felt drugged with no energy. Now taking 2.5 twice a day and feel more relaxed and energetic. Experiment with different doses before you give up. The doctor doesn't have a clue what dose you can tolerate, as everyone is different."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I'm taking BuSpar for anxiety that I'm having due to an injury. I broke my wrist about 8 weeks ago, and I am in a cast from the tip of my thumb to just below the elbow. My doctor told me I might be in this cast for 12 weeks or significantly longer. I started having bad anxiety and panic attacks. So my family doctor put me on BuSpar and Zoloft for the duration of being in a cast. So far, it hasn't seemed to help very much, 7.5 mg twice daily. I'm hoping that it will start helping with the anxiety. I do feel a little lightheaded and I'm always tired. This isn't my first broken bone or cast, but this is the first time I've ever experienced anxiety."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Geez. I started BuSpar 2 weeks ago in the hospital. They had me taking 5 mg twice a day. My psych said to take three times a day because I have come off Ativan. My issue is, the first dose works great, the second one I take at 6:00 knocks me on my butt after I eat. Literally, I become kind of lethargic, I am also med sensitive. Help, please."

For Panic Disorder "Overall, it helps me so much. Anxiety, especially. I also take Lexapro, so it's hard to tell which one is making me so sleepy. But it's getting a little much for me. No energy."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I have been taking BuSpar 10 mg 3 times a day for the past 3 months for anxiety and panic attacks. I think, for the most part, my panic attacks have subsided, but I still experience a bit of anxiety and increased blood pressure. I do take Xanax 0.25 mg from time to time if my anxiety gets too bad or too stressed. I do notice I feel slightly lethargic and run down most of the time while I have been on this. Also, after each dose, I get some dizziness about 45 minutes afterwards, which lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour. I used to have a spark to me before taking it, but I guess I'll take the good with the bad for the time being."

For Anxiety "I just started taking this medication a few days ago. I will write an update later as I give it more time. Thus far, my side effects have been a slight numbing of my mouth. I am extremely sensitive to medication, and this has happened with other meds I have taken, so I am not alarmed by this. I am taking it with food, and I do feel a bit of slight nausea and tiredness about an hour after taking it. I also feel a bit spaced, but I am hoping these will subside over time. It isn't anything unmanageable at this time. I am on a very low dose: 2.5 mg BID. It isn't what the doctor prescribed, but after talking with my pharmacist about my sensitivity to meds, he said I could build up to the dose. I was prescribed 5 mg BID to increase if needed."

For Anxiety "Just started 5 mg Buspar (3x a day or prn) tonight after being pulled from Wellbutrin. I took Citalopram for 7 years prior to trying the Wellbutrin and had to stop because that obliterated my sex drive. I am prescribed 0.25 mg Xanax prn. I feel tired now. Calm. I feel a little jumpy, but not like I usually do. I suppose we'll see!"

For Anxiety "It just makes me absolutely tired. I can’t stand it. It just started happening about 3 days ago, and I’ve been on it since 10/14/21. Will it get better? Should I take it once a day and not at night? But then I’ll be tired all day."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I have anxiety from the time my eyes open to the time I close them to sleep (if I can). When I was prescribed BuSpar 10mg, my whole world changed. I can now function and my social anxiety is much better. My OCD is moderately managed along with therapy. But the anxiety is tremendously better. I do need to take it with food or I get very tired. But with a little food, I don’t notice it. And it’s perfect for helping me sleep at night. I have panic attacks far less often now too, and I’m more comfortable with this medication than the highly addictive benzodiazepines."

For Anxiety "Prescribed buspirone 10 mgs - 3x day, but I started by breaking them in half and taking 5 mgs - 3 times daily. The first 3 days, maybe a little tiredness and slight headache, but extreme diarrhea (may have been a virus). The 2nd week, I felt great! I kept thinking, where was this wonder medication the past 10 years of suffering. Week 3, probably the worst anxiety of my life. I had the feeling of a constant panic attack for 3 days straight and led to the body flu. I stuck it out and by week 4, started to feel better. I decided to up the dose to 20 mgs a day. Let me tell you, the 10 mgs was probably too much. I couldn't even remember if I dropped my kids off at daycare and still had anxiety. Week 7, upped to 25 mg. 10 mg in the morning and evening, and 5 in the afternoon. This lasted only 3 days, because I was so dizzy after taking the night doses, I had to close my eyes and fall asleep immediately. I am now on week 9, 15 mgs daily and feel pretty good.... Might even try 10 mg total."

Buspirone for Anxiety "This medicine is very good for long-term control for GAD. I also take 900 mg of gabapentin with the 30 mg BuSpar daily. New laws and good reasons forbid benzos long-term. I still take 2 mg of Xanax during panic attacks, which after months on BuSpar are very rare. Give it a try, it's a funny med-30 mg you're fully up, and 30 mg later tired, but a good relaxing kind. Takes a while for it to help though. My advice, if you have anxiety, is to get off benzos, they will ultimately ruin your life and brain."

Buspirone for Anxiety "For me, BuSpar works pretty well on the physical symptoms of anxiety. What I mean is that, unlike the SSRI that worked for me in the past, I still have the thoughts that cause the anxiety (the SSRI seemed to squash any negative thoughts), but at least my heart isn't racing, I don't have that deep sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, and I'm not sweating like crazy. I do feel pretty lazy and tired on it though. Better than getting hooked on a benzo, and at least I can get some sleep. It has minimal side effects on me, which is what we expected with my Genesight results."

For Anxiety "I used to take this for anxiety, and it worked great, besides making me tired, but otherwise no side effects. I got a refill recently because my anxiety came back, and this makes me extremely dizzy and like I’m on a roller coaster minutes after taking it. Not sure if the filler ingredients changed or something, but I cannot take this unless I want to be laying in bed for hours after."
