For Depression "I started Wellbutrin 5 days ago. The first night I felt like my heart was racing and pounding, but it went away the next day. Then at work, for the past 2 days, I have been sweating excessively and getting the feeling that I need to sit. Last night, after taking the medication for 5 days, I had the feeling that my head weighed a thousand pounds, and I just felt so dizzy, lightheaded, and weak I could barely walk right. I went to lay down to sleep, and all of a sudden I couldn't swallow and was gasping for air. It was so scary. I just couldn't catch my breath. I could feel my throat closing up. I was rushed to the E.R., and they found I was having an allergic reaction to it."

For Depression "I rated it a 5 because I felt for me it was 50/50. Tomorrow will have been only my 5th day taking the generic version (bupropion SR), but I am making today the last one. I was prescribed only 150 mg once a day. The first 3 times I took it, it worked wonderfully. I experienced a handful of side effects that were super mild, but I felt great. I felt energized and positive. Today, on the other hand, about two hours after I took my dose, I was hunched over the toilet, almost throwing up with bad stomach pain in addition to the nausea. I never threw up. I have ZERO appetite and no energy and a bad sharp pain in my upper stomach. I feel totally disconnected from my body."

For Depression "I started taking 150 mg twice a day, and I started feeling a difference since day 1. The very first night I woke up in the middle of the night, agitated because of a very vivid dream, and they only got worse as the days went by, to the point I could not differentiate dreams from reality and having a lot of trouble waking up. During the day, I was feeling hopeful again and started doing things I had stopped doing, but on day 7, approximately, I had a major panic attack at work, feeling like I was choking due to lack of oxygen and started hyperventilating, which I had never experienced before in my life. So, long story short, I ended up in the ER that night. Even though the paramedics suggested it was going to go away by itself, I still wanted to be checked out. Horrible experience."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Was on 150 mg 2x daily and became increasingly jittery, like too much caffeine, also more anxious, depressed, and irritable. It felt like bad speed, just didn't work for me. I just started on Citalopram, hoping that will help anxiety and depression."

For Depression "I've been taking this medication off and on for quite a few years, and I have mixed feelings about it. If you want lots of energy, this is the stuff to take. If you have OCD or an anxiety disorder, you might want to pair this with some Effexor or Zoloft. I'm still in the process of figuring out a dose that works well for me. I'm on 450 mg XL and 75 mg Effexor XL. If you want to drink alcohol, keep it to a minimum, preferably no more than 3 beers. I personally find that it reduces my desire to drink, and I'm also going to ask my doctor about taking Contrave, which is 300 mg Wellbutrin and 12.5 mg Naltrexone for weight loss (Thanks, Effexor)."

For Depression "I used this on and off for several years, never over 150 mg/day. I liked the energy it provided, the suppression of appetite, the low cost (without insurance), and the increased sex drive (as opposed to Prozac/Zoloft, which prevented me from reaching orgasm). The downside for me was increased sweating and anxiety. The anxiety was the worst. I now use Ritalin and prefer it."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have major depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. This medication helps motivate me, and it gives a slight boost for my moods. I tend to smile more now but still get depressed now and then. It has very little side effects, best thing is no sexual side effects! It also helps my anxiety, but I still have a hard time concentrating, which my doc says helps, but for me, it doesn't. It's just a mood stabilizer to me. I give it a 7 out of 10 because it only helps me slightly. I take 150 mg twice a day."

For Depression "Taking name brand. Started 150 1x a day for a week. First day so amazing, energized, went to the gym, positive, and for 4 days felt great. 5th not so much and by 7th day was feeling back to my depressed self, so I upped it to 2 a day. Now I go from anxious to flat. Feel absolutely nothing, zoned out, very irritable. Vivid dreams and nightmares, kind of can't separate dream from reality because it seems like someone's in the house and I wake up out of a dead sleep and I'm not sure if someone's in the house. Going to give this a few more days, if things don't get worse, hopefully they'll get better. If not, not going to take it anymore. I took this because I wanted to avoid weight gain, which happened years ago with other SSRIs. Hasn't affected appetite."

For Depression "I don't find this an antidepressant rather than a demeanor stimulant/energy enhancer. Goes well with SSRIs, SNRIs, and many others as add-ons. Personally, on 150 mg daily, I found myself more energetic, needing less sleep, more able to focus for seriously long days, more outspoken, and also more irritable. Some restlessness or a stupor-kind of feeling for a couple of hours in the afternoon. All of this subsided as the months passed. 1-2 years led to some kind of tolerance. 300 mg doses seemed to give me some more focus but also made me feel a bit off. Enhances the focus a little more, and likely possible overt wakefulness, irritability, or confusion would subside over time. I still couldn't estimate needing such a dose myself. Initially, a combination of Sertraline made me hypermanic for a month or two: showed up at parties drinking and talking to everyone, making new acquaintances, life choices ultimately leading to major changes, etc. My psychiatrist didn't think it was a problem, though."

For Depression "I recently had to move to a different city and to find a new doctor. So, he took me off Clonazepam 0.5 for anxiety. Instead, he prescribed Wellbutrin 150 mg 2x to go with my Zoloft 100 mg. I've never taken Wellbutrin, so why did he put me on a high dose right away? I'm irritated at the slightest thing. Trying to get a new psychiatrist."

"I absolutely love this medication. I have been taking it for a week, and I am not sad, agitated, or unfocused. It does cause me to experience some stomach upset, but that is offset by the burst of energy I have been experiencing. I love it."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took Wellbutrin SR 150, twice a day for about a year, along with Zoloft 50 once a day to get myself better after falling into a deep depressive episode. My psychiatrist also recommended the Wellbutrin for helping to stop tobacco products and said that it would help with the depressive episodes. Overall, I really liked this medication for my condition, as it had few side effects for me, and with the Zoloft (not sure which to give credit to really), my appetite increased, and I was able to eat healthier and gain back some of the weight which was lost due to my depression as a whole. After doing more research, I did find that Wellbutrin is contraindicated for people with a history of epilepsy or seizures in general."

For Depression "I have been taking Wellbutrin SR 150 mg for five years. Have been doing really well, but here lately I have been really tired, low sex drive, wanting to eat when I am not hungry. Maybe I need an increase."

For Bipolar Disorder "I started taking Wellbutrin SR 4 days ago. I took it in addition to Seroquel XR. It helped for a couple of days. During those days, I only experienced some dizziness, decreased appetite, and sex drive. Although yesterday evening, I was hospitalized with a 5-minute-long grand mal seizure. I don't have a history of seizure disorders, and the doctors believe that this seizure was caused by Wellbutrin SR. If you take Wellbutrin SR and antipsychotics together, I suggest that you speak with your pharmacist or health provider."

For Depression "I have Major Depressive Disorder, anxiety, and severe ADHD. I took Wellbutrin for four days, and at first it was fine, then I quickly developed hot flashes and eventually started freaking out and having unrelenting suicidal thoughts. Guess it just didn't work for me, but it didn't make me tired."

For Depression "I’ve been taking Wellbutrin for a couple months now, and honestly, mood-wise, I have been feeling better. I still have big mood swings (diagnosed with bipolar type 2), so it really could be that. Side effects I have noticed would be extreme agitation and severe acne, which honestly is disappointing because I used to have really clean and clear skin. Other than that, I think it’s pretty cool."

For Depression "I started this after talking to my doctor about how I was scared to gain weight with an antidepressant (I gained 15 pounds on Zoloft). This medicine made me feel crazy! I took it for 2 weeks, and every day I felt like there was a brick on my eyes/head. I felt like I was going to have a seizure any moment (no, I've never had one, I just felt like I was going to). I was sensitive to light and couldn't see when I was driving at night. It was awful!!! I'm on Prozac now and seem to be doing ok :)"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking Wellbutrin for a month and only seen a slight improvement. I see the MD in the AM and going to ask for an increase in dosage. Currently, I take 75 mg once a day. I am sensitive to medications, and the MD wanted to start low and go slow. Hopefully, with the increase, it will help out. I rated it 7 because the only side effect that I experienced was a headache."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I hated this medication. It gave me insomnia, I was agitated and fidgety all the time. I was on it for three days and noticed I couldn't handle it. I was on 200 mg per day. In order for me to sleep, I had to take 10 mg of melatonin. I was good prior to being on antidepressants. I was also shuddering and had tremors."

For Depression "I took Wellbutrin 150 mg for 1 week, then 300 mg for about 5, maybe 6 months, and then my doctor increased my dosage to 400 mg mixed with 100 mg of Zoloft, and I'm shaky, irritated, and more prone to crying. I have split personality disorder, and it's been throwing me into different ones, and on top of that, I have PTSD and mood disorder, plus I'm bipolar type 2, and I've been thrown into my manic states more often. It sucks."

For Depression "Good for depression, not for anxiety/depression. I had a history of General Anxiety, it got worse after menopause. I was on different SSRIs, the side effects were awful. When my depression returned, my doctor had me try Wellbutrin SR. It caused agitation, loss of appetite, muscle tremors, and sleep disturbances, which were the worst. It does not help my anxiety, but it did help my depression. I am off it now to try something else in a week."

For Depression "I started taking Wellbutrin SR 150 mg twice a day for my depression and to quit smoking. Everything was getting better. I had a great night's sleep. By day 2, I felt a little lighter with my mood. Then, on day 4, I felt wrong, and by my nighttime dose, I ended up having a seizure, which I have no history of. Again, no sleep, and tremors, and horrible sweating. I was really hoping this was going to help me, but I have never been so scared in my life as I was when I lost control of all my muscles, and it took 2 days to start to feel better from it. My muscles hurt, extreme anxiety, and insomnia. Be very careful with this drug!"

"This med worked great for me for about 3 months, and then it’s almost abruptly just stopped working. I also noticed I developed terrible face and back acne while on this med. Since I’ve weaned off, the acne has cleared up significantly, so I do feel it was relatively this medication. This med was just ok for me while it was working."

For Depression "My doctor started me on a very low dose of this (100 mg). I have anxiety, depression, and (a questionable diagnosis, pending review) of bipolar disorder. The first day I took this, I had a full-blown panic attack. My heart was racing so fast, and I was experiencing pretty bad chest pain and heaviness, so much so that I called the office and they wanted me to stop taking it and go to the ER to have an EKG done. I stopped taking it for about 2 weeks, but wasn't ready to give up on it - big mistake. So I went back on it for 3 days. Each day I had an elevated heart rate and felt anxious all day long. I was EXTREMELY irritable to the point of rage, my ENTIRE face broke out with painful cystic acne I'd never had before - basically overnight. Skip!"
