For Major Depressive Disorder "I was taking 300mg every day, the generic for years, along with Xanax for anxiety. My doctor upped the dosage to 450mg every day. I just got the name brand and it's completely different! My life has new meaning, the generic is not half as good. I no longer need the Xanax and have no problems going out or living my life now. This medication (name brand Wellbutrin) should be available to anyone that needs it. The generic is horrible, loaded with side effects: shaking, headache, nausea, and extreme bouts of anxiety that do not occur with the name brand! I am shocked the generic for this medication is permitted to masquerade as the equivalent is not even close!"

For Depression "I'm on my 3rd week of bupropion and I have finally started seeing a difference in myself. It was a Thursday, and I was in clinicals. I'm in college for athletic training, and I was just my normal, friendly, happy, energetic self. Out of the three weeks, I have had dizziness once and I have noticed some trembling, but so far so good, and I really feel like I'm getting back to my normal self. I had been down for so long, I'm just glad I finally did something about it!"

For Depression "Took me 2 tries to get on it. The first time I tried it, it sent me into an anxiety attack for 3 days, and I had to stop. I think this was my own nerves, though. Waited a couple of months, then tried again. This time it went much better. The first 4 days had a lot of head fogginess and jitters, but otherwise not too bad. After that, suddenly I felt much better! My mood improved a bit, I had much more energy (I wasn't getting that mid-day crash anymore), and I was getting fewer headaches. But the cons of it were constipation, mild moodiness, and anxiety in the evening and towards going to sleep for some reason. Not a terrible experience, but ended up being a bit too much for me to handle as a full-time student."

For Depression "I tried various other anti-depressants. I have severe depression, which runs in my family. Wellbutrin works well for me. The only noticeable side effects have been twitching and some sleeplessness. It is expensive, though. The generic was just terrible. Gave aching, even more twitching, tiredness, lack of concentration, etc. I would not recommend the generic, as many other people had similar complaints. I do recommend Wellbutrin SR NON-GENERIC, especially if you have insurance."

For Depression "This medication is great. I've tried several other antidepressants, and this one is by far the most effective, especially when taken concurrently with an SSRI. The only bad thing about it is it makes you shake like a leaf. I once spilled a drink all over me because I couldn't hold it steady. But this side effect is insignificant in comparison to the benefits of taking the medicine."

For Depression "For me, it was awful. I was on this pill for 7 days. I went to the doctor today because my heart was beating so fast on these pills, and I was paranoid, anxious, shaking, and very, very b---hy. I thought I was having a heart attack at work. I was crying, it was awful. I went to the doctor, and I couldn't get words out. My pulse was 115, and blood pressure was high (never ever is), it just shot up. The doctor said I was having a panic attack and that it is due to the medication. She took me off it, and for the next 5 days, I am on Lorazepam 0.5 mg (sedative to calm me down - take it at night) and switching me back to sertraline. This was the worst experience of my life. I thought I was going to end up in the ER or dead."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I hated this medication. It gave me insomnia, I was agitated and fidgety all the time. I was on it for three days and noticed I couldn't handle it. I was on 200 mg per day. In order for me to sleep, I had to take 10 mg of melatonin. I was good prior to being on antidepressants. I was also shuddering and had tremors."

For Depression "I took Wellbutrin 150 mg for 1 week, then 300 mg for about 5, maybe 6 months, and then my doctor increased my dosage to 400 mg mixed with 100 mg of Zoloft, and I'm shaky, irritated, and more prone to crying. I have split personality disorder, and it's been throwing me into different ones, and on top of that, I have PTSD and mood disorder, plus I'm bipolar type 2, and I've been thrown into my manic states more often. It sucks."

For Depression "I started taking Wellbutrin SR 150 mg twice a day for my depression and to quit smoking. Everything was getting better. I had a great night's sleep. By day 2, I felt a little lighter with my mood. Then, on day 4, I felt wrong, and by my nighttime dose, I ended up having a seizure, which I have no history of. Again, no sleep, and tremors, and horrible sweating. I was really hoping this was going to help me, but I have never been so scared in my life as I was when I lost control of all my muscles, and it took 2 days to start to feel better from it. My muscles hurt, extreme anxiety, and insomnia. Be very careful with this drug!"

For Depression "Good for depression, not for anxiety/depression. I had a history of General Anxiety, it got worse after menopause. I was on different SSRIs, the side effects were awful. When my depression returned, my doctor had me try Wellbutrin SR. It caused agitation, loss of appetite, muscle tremors, and sleep disturbances, which were the worst. It does not help my anxiety, but it did help my depression. I am off it now to try something else in a week."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Several years ago, I took Wellbutrin SR 150mg twice a day for depression and SAD. But the pharmacy substituted generic bupropion and my insurance denied the Wellbutrin brand. I immediately started having hand tremors, agitation, and crying. I spoke with my psychiatrist on an emergency appointment, and he recognized generic instead of brand name so called my pharmacist who insisted that the generic was exactly the same as the brand. It took the doctor to call my insurance company to get approval of the brand drug under my plan, and everything went back to normal. My psychiatrist passed away a few years later. Now, I find myself in the same situation and my new doctor has not been successful in getting my insurance to authorize the brand name. I tried generic again with the same reactions. I cannot afford the brand, so I continue to struggle. Has anyone else experienced adverse reactions to generic bupropion and discovered any discounts to make Wellbutrin SR affordable?"
