For Sexual Dysfunction, SSRI Induced "I am taking 300 mg, and by the second day, it has shown a lot of results. Definitely easy to get aroused again, but stimulation is still reduced in quality for me. Still makes everything easier, and perhaps it will continue to increase in function. As for its antidepressant effect, I do think it makes daily life things more enjoyable when I'm not caught up in thoughts. It also may be contributing to better focus for me due to it blocking the reuptake of norepinephrine. The main side effect, which goes away in 2 weeks for me, was a dry mouth. I would really recommend trying this drug in general. Definitely isn't an unwelcome addition to my daily meds."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I wasn't going to review, just came to see what others were experiencing, but I figured, 'Why not?' I've been struggling with MDD since I was 15. I was on Lexapro until I turned 17 because I thought I didn't need it anymore. I had a suicide attempt, and Doc put me on Cymbalta. It was great -- I didn't have any more depressive thoughts, but instead, I gained tremors and eventually double vision. Went on Bupropion XL 150 last year. My side effects from Cymbalta stopped, which was super for me. We were hoping that the 150 would be enough, but it turns out I needed more. Went on 300 on Monday, and I'm already seeing benefits. My mind is even more clear, and I feel calm. Only side effect is my appetite is gone, and I have a dry mouth."

For Smoking Cessation "I am so amazed. I am a female who has smoked since the age of 15. I am 67 now. The last 3 years, I smoked a pack and sometimes a pack and a half. In December 2021, the doctor asked me if I was still smoking. My reply was yes, and I am tired of it. The doctor prescribed Bupropion, 150 mg. I started off taking 1 a day for 3 days, and after that, 2 a day. I started taking the pills on January 7, 2021, and by January 13th, I smoked only 2 cigarettes. On January 14th, I smoked no cigarettes at all. The only side effects I had were a headache for a couple of days and dry mouth. It is January 28th, and I have not smoked in 16 days! I am so amazed that this worked for me, a smoker who was a chain smoker. If you want to quit smoking, I say give this a try. It worked for me!"

For Depression "On day 4 of taking bupropion. My appetite has decreased, I have more energy, and I’m crying and laughing more. Started taking it for depression that comes with schizoaffective bipolar type. I have had several manic episodes in the past 7 years and think my depression has really hit an all-time low. I hospitalized myself for suicidal thoughts and ideation and dreaded getting out of bed. On bupropion, I actually want to move, and I am starting to feel like I am more in control of my response to my emotions. I could definitely stand to lose some weight, so I’m hoping it helps with that too. I’ve had pretty bad headaches and dry mouth, but drinking more water is good for me. It feels crazy how a pill can help you see life differently. It’s almost too good to be true."

For Depression "I started taking 150 mg of bupropion HCl and it’s day 5. So far, I have noticed a difference in my mood, my appetite has decreased, my energy level is up, and I’m motivated. I still have some sadness, but it’s only been 5 days. I have tried several different medications, and they made me feel crazy. I can actually tolerate this medication. My side effects were dizziness, headaches, dry mouth, and my thought process seemed a little slow at times. Nothing that I can’t tolerate, and hopefully, will improve. So far, so good. I’m going to stick it out with this med."

For Anxiety "On week 5-6 of Bupropion XL. I’ve tried numerous SSRIs for depression/anxiety but could never get through the side effects. I reached a very dark point to which my doctor prescribed the Wellbutrin to avoid the zombie feeling. Bupropion XL has pulled me completely out of that dark place, and I’ve found that I don’t have any of the cravings for sweets that I used to when I would stress eat. I did experience dry mouth, but it has ceased. Only downfall is that my anxiety has seemed to increase, I’ve experienced a lot of paranoia and speaking issues/nervousness. I’ve also become extremely impatient and have little anger fits out of nowhere. It feels difficult to relax and snap out of that “alert” feeling. I’m staying open-minded since it’s helped the depression and energy levels. If it doesn’t level out in the next month or so, I may ask my doctor if I can add a small dosage of an SSRI so that I can relax. I would avoid caffeine if your anxiety is sensitive to it."

For Depression "I started taking bupropion about a month ago to treat chronic mild depression. My depression was generally manageable, but I had periods when it became debilitating, keeping me from performing daily activities, etc. With bupropion, so far I feel great. It's amazing to see the person I am without the constant weight of depression bearing down on me. It feels like I've gone from dredging through deep, thick mud to running free through thin air. The only negative side effect I've noticed is dry mouth, which for me is nothing in light of the positive effects. I feel more energetic, motivated, and capable. I haven't seen any effect on my weight or appetite, no change in libido, and no jittery or aggressive feelings."

For Smoking Cessation "I have been taking Zyban for a week now. I have quit smoking. It makes the cigarettes taste like you are licking an ashtray. I have also had horrible side effects. When I take my first dose of the day, my ears start ringing, I sweat profusely with hot flashes, dry mouth, my hands turn bright red, and I am dizzy. When I take my second dose, I can't sleep when I try to go to bed, and if I do go to bed, I have nightmares. I am going to keep taking it though. I am hoping the side effects stop or lessen."

For Depression "I have been taking this medication for 6 weeks, and I have noticed a drastic difference in my mental health. I no longer care as much about people's opinion or when I'm driving or someone does something stupid, I don't dwell on small things like that with the same intensity I used to without medication. As far as side effects go, I have noticed that sometimes when I get into a tense situation at work or while driving, my heart will beat really fast to the point that it hurts. That is about the only major negative side effect I have noticed. Some of the minor side effects include dry mouth, slight memory loss, mild constipation, etc. I didn't really experience insomnia, an increase/decrease in weight/appetite, nor any changes to my libido. This is all fine since I am at my desired weight goal and my libido had been fine prior to taking this medication. I definitely think it's worth a shot, the way I see it, there's only failure in not trying it."

For Smoking Cessation "I'm also on Pristiq for depression and recently put on 300 mg Wellbutrin to quit smoking. I've been on it a month now, and I've never felt worse in my life. I thought I was going crazy, I've been crying, shaking, migraines, ears ringing loud, then pressure in my head, heart palpitations very often, forgetting things, bad dreams, insomnia, angry, no appetite, dry mouth, everything tastes awful, itching, having thoughts about suicide. I broke down today and told my husband the details. We looked things up, and he says it's the medicine. I hope so, my mind is a prison. I can't escape the negative thoughts, and this just isn't me. This is the most horrific medicine. I've never left a comment, nor have I had any reactions to any meds. I suggest you know yourself very well, mental cycles, and body before taking. Today is my first day not taking it, and I'm still a mess."

For Depression "Best antidepressant I've been on. Before taking this, I have tried Celexa and Lexapro. My depression is little to none, and I have so much more energy. My main negative side effects to this have been dry mouth and difficulty falling asleep. And yes, it totally curbs your appetite. I ended up going off of it for 3 months after losing my health insurance and gained 10 pounds."

For Depression "I just started taking it. I haven't had any major side effects as of yet. My mouth is sort of dry, but not too bad. I have to use the washroom a lot. It seems to keep me calm and a little more focused. Hopefully, it works in a positive way for me."

For Depression "I've been on Bupropion XL 150 mg for about three weeks now, and it's made a positive difference. I wouldn't say I'm happy, but I'm definitely not as depressed or anxious as I was before! In terms of side effects, I did have slight (but certainly bearable) headaches, some dry mouth, and a decreased appetite (lost 5 lbs so far, which isn't a bad thing). I know some people have problems with Bupropion, but it's worth a shot! This may sound dramatic, but it very well may have saved my life."

For Depression "Bupropion (Wellbutrin XL) 150 mg. 'I was on Celexa for anxiety, depression, PTSD and lost interest in everything except drinking lots of booze. It helped relax me, but I lost all sexual desires and functions. Ugh. Two days ago, my therapist finally switched me over to bupropion. Side effects for the last two days include slight headaches, dry mouth, ear ringing, racing heart at times, and worst is the insomnia. I have woken up like 4-5 times in the last two nights and feel wide awake in bed even though I take the pill in the AM. I do feel quite a bit more energy, and it feels like things are clicking better. I actually wake up with huge erections. I guess that's a good sign of great things to come. Hope the side effects end and will continue using the drug."

For Depression "I was prescribed 100 mg of Wellbutrin for my light depression and anxiety. After 10 days, I became so irritable and dizzy that I asked to stop taking it for fear that I wouldn't be able to work and may have a full-blown panic attack. I had taken it 2 years before in combination with Cymbalta, and it worked great. Besides making me feel worse than mildly depressed this time, I also had numerous side effects like ringing ears, slight nausea, and dry mouth. I have had no sexual side effects (55 yo male)."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I cannot even BEGIN to describe how beneficial this has been for me. A little over 2 years ago, I was put on a mood stabilizer, Lamictal. But my old psychiatrist failed to tell me it MAY cause weight gain. Rare, but it happens. And it did. I went from 140 lbs to 200 in a few short months, I was taking blood tests and everything, trying to find out what was wrong. Then, I found my current psychiatrist. I explained that the Lamictal has been AMAZING for my mood, but my body is suffering. So, he put me on bupropion. Holy. Shit. I was 200 in August, currently, 160. Last week I was 166. And the week before I was 174. Insane. At this rate, I’ll be 140 again here in a few weeks! This gave me my life back. I haven’t experienced any other side effects aside from dry mouth. I’m on 450 mg per day."
