Bupropion for Depression "I started taking Wellbutrin about two weeks ago. The first week was fine, but in the second week, my blood pressure became elevated along with uncontrollable muscle tremors, trouble concentrating, overheating in my face, difficulty concentrating and speaking, dry mouth, sweating, and headaches. I had to quit taking it."

Bupropion for Depression "In summer 2017, I had a depressive episode worsened by Cymbalta. I was suicidal with no emotions or appetite. I told my doctor and started Wellbutrin 300 mg. I was wary because the last two medications I took didn’t help. Two weeks later, after Cymbalta’s horrific withdrawal ended, my emotions returned. I could enjoy things again. By week four, I was happy for the first time in years. I could cry again (a weird thing to be happy about, but it felt good to feel again). I had mild side effects: a dry mouth and shaky hands. I think how I felt the following year is how healthy people feel. I’ve never felt better. In fall 2018, things went downhill. I was having panic attacks and dark, depressing thoughts. I thought it was stress, so I reduced my workload. It didn’t work. I was depressed/anxious daily until now because I was too nervous to tell anyone. Last week, my doctor prescribed an extra 150 mg (450 mg total). Nothing yet, but the higher dose may help. If I can edit this, I’ll add my experiences on 450 mg."

Bupropion for Depression "This medicine, Wellbutrin, just made me sleepy and irritable/depressed. Didn’t have any side effects like dry mouth or excessive energy. It kinda made my depression worse. Keep looking for the right med. It works for some, but unfortunately didn’t work for me."

For ADHD "I started taking Bupropion SR 150 mg for major depression brought on by untreated/undiagnosed ADHD. The doctor prescribed me to treat my major depression but found that it also caused me to be able to focus on what I needed to do such as read journal articles, something I was never able to do before without getting bored. This led to the ADHD diagnosis. I saw a notable change in my focus, energy levels, and mood. I no longer have suicidal thoughts, and I can sit and read the information I need for research without getting a headache from rereading the same line over and over. The 3 side effects I have noticed were dry mouth, rapid weight loss, and increased HR (110-115) with the second dose (only taking 150 mg a day now)."

Bupropion for Major Depressive Disorder "Struggled with MDD and Gen. Anxiety Dis. and self-harming habits. Wellbutrin has changed my life. It's definitely a noticeable chemical adjustment for the first few weeks. Once I adjusted though, it was a miracle. I'm calm, don't have anger or outbursts, no anxiety, no obsessive thoughts or ruminating. I haven't been depressed in over 3 months and I started Wellbutrin in Feb. of 2015. I've had no side effects besides the first few weeks. You will feel very weird for two weeks. Stick with it. No weight fluctuations, dry mouth went away, no sexual side effects, and I have more energy but I don't feel artificially stimulated (you will for about a month though). I give this medicine a 10. My doctor says I'm textbook MDD. Runs heavy in my family."

Bupropion for Depression "If you're anything like me, you're scrolling these reviews, freaking yourself out over the bad reviews. I never wanted to take meds, but I gave them a try because I needed that extra help. Yes, the first two weeks suck. My anxiety skyrocketed, I was irritable, had dry mouth, and really bad brain fog. That's how it's going to be when taking a new powerful drug, your body needs to adapt. To be blunt, you just need to suck it up and push through, knowing these feelings will pass because they do. One day I was suicidal, so if that lasts more than a day or so, then yes, maybe it's not for you. Have a support system, friends or family, it helps a lot. Week 3-5, I felt no change, week 6 rolled around, and I felt GREAT. At peace, motivated, and clear-minded. I started with 100 mg, just went up to 50 mg. In order to heal, you NEED to pair medication with other help like meditation, yoga, exercise, therapy, and a healthy diet. I promise when you put that effort in, amazing things will come your way."

Bupropion for Smoking Cessation "I smoked a pack a day for 20 years and moved to Zyban after Champix gave me some seriously dark thoughts! After 4 days of taking the pills, my smokes tasted funny. After 6 days, I realized that I was only smoking because of the habit, so I just stopped. It's taken away all the anxiety in quitting smoking. I've had a few side effects, but they've actually been okay. My mood is better, I'm going to bed early, sleeping well, and waking up early. I feel very focused and motivated too. The only negative side is that it's dried my skin a bit and I get dry mouth, but I'm drinking 2.5 liters of water per day to fix that. It makes me a bit forgetful too, but that's okay. It's an antidepressant, so it won't be great for everyone, but it worked well for me!"

Bupropion for Depression "Today was the first day I have had to take this medicine. I have already experienced dry mouth and not really caring to eat. I am only 20 years old. I've made a lot of dramatic changes in my life in the past month and I've dealt with depression for a while but was honestly scared to admit it. I have read many reviews and I am nervous about it, but at the same time, I'm pretty happy to see the positive reviews. I'm wanting to feel happy like I should and do things I want to do without worrying about what thought will ruin my plans for that day. Prayers would be appreciated while I get used to being on this and start learning if it's for me or not."

Bupropion for Depression "I wanted to share with those who have dry mouth. I also did if you go to Walmart and go to the toothpaste aisle, find the toothpaste I believe was called dry mouth in a blue package. I used it once and it helped my dry mouth the same day, and I was able to use my regular toothpaste for a couple of weeks before having to brush again with dry mouth toothpaste. I wanted to share this because the dry mouth is what almost caused me to stop taking Wellbutrin, but it works so great for me. I wanted to try everything possible first. :) I really hope this helps."

For Anxiety "I was on Lexapro for about 6 months before my doctor switched me to Wellbutrin due to weight gain and sexual side effects. I experienced intense headaches for the first few days, and dry mouth for the first 2 weeks. Both have since gone away. I have also lost 11 pounds in one month, which brings me just below my pre-Lexapro weight. I would attribute much of this to the reduction in appetite I have experienced with Wellbutrin, as well as increased metabolism. My anxiety is under control and I feel great!"

Bupropion for Depression "Was taking 20mg of Prozac, which worked pretty good. Have taken Adderall in the past for ADD and asked my doctor about it again. He suggested I take Wellbutrin. Been on it for 2 weeks and I really noticed a difference. I actually feel great! 300mg XL. Side effects are minimal. I did feel like a zombie the first and second day. The third day I had the giggles. But, things started to even out after that. It wasn't anything terrible. It is a little bit harder to go to sleep at night, however, I've never been a good sleeper. And, dry mouth is kind of bad. Other than that, no anxiety or depression. Haven't noticed anything about my ADD yet. I'll give it a couple more weeks."

Bupropion for Depression "I had very high hopes for this medication. My brother takes it, and it’s magic in a bottle for him. He does very well, no side effects at all. So I have GAD, PTSD, panic disorder, and depression. I take Xanax to help control the anxiety and panic, and I’ve been taking it for 15 years. I’ve had no side effects with that. I lost my mother a few months ago and noticed that my depression was getting worse, and so I decided to try Wellbutrin. I have been on this for a little over 17 days now, and I decided today was the stopping point. I know this is just my experience, and maybe due to my particular medical problems, this medicine just was horrible for me. I could not eat, I can’t hold water down, the nausea is crazy, dry throat, dry eyes, headache, constipation, thoughts of death like OCD fixated on death. My stomach hurts so bad, I’m getting the chills, then hot flashes. I have GERD and hypothyroidism, and maybe this isn’t something that works well with those conditions. Not for me."

Bupropion for Depression "By no means a miracle drug, but it really pulled me out of a deep depression. After just a few days, people began to notice a change in my appearance and mood for the better. I began to take an interest in people and places. I began to do the things I used to love again, such as play the guitar and go to sporting events. Side effects were: really dry mouth, which I did not mind because I switched from craving soda all the time to craving water instead. Slight ringing in the ears. I only sleep 6 or so hours a night, but it's not a big deal because I'm more energetic now than I was when sleeping 9 hours."

For ADHD "I was diagnosed with ADHD at 31 years of age, and I was prescribed 300 mg XL. It took about a week or two to really kick in, and at first, the medication was life-changing. I had motivation to get off the couch (maybe due to depression?), and more importantly, I could focus for the first time in my life. I was reading books - something I never could do before! My wife noticed a huge difference. My boss and co-workers noticed a huge difference. Six months after first being diagnosed and taking the medication - I still have motivation to get off the couch, but my ability to focus has reverted back to pre-medication days. Noticed side effects: vivid dreams, dry mouth, insomnia (although that has tapered off)."

Bupropion for Depression "I'm a 21-year-old male and I started taking Wellbutrin 3 weeks ago for seasonal affective disorder. The first few times I took Wellbutrin, I felt AMAZING. This is because Wellbutrin is a mild stimulant. This effect goes away. After about a week, the depression started to get better, and I increased to 300mg/day. As I'm now approaching the 3-week mark, I can honestly say I have never felt this good in my life. I had severe insomnia for the first 3 nights. I also experience occasional dry mouth. I had mild, intermittent nausea for the first week. I highly, highly recommend this. Don't use it if you have anxiety problems."

Bupropion for Depression "I've been taking Wellbutrin for two years for depression. My general mood, concentration, and energy levels are much improved. I have a tendency towards anxiety, but most bad, depressed, or anxious moods last approximately half an hour and then go away. Before I took Wellbutrin, these moods could have lasted days. It slightly decreased my appetite and I've lost ten pounds. Negative side effects have included dry mouth, headaches, and occasional dizziness. Despite these, Wellbutrin has improved my life a lot and I believe that the medicine is more than worth trying."

Bupropion for Depression "I used to take 75 mg 2x a day and quit. I felt like it was not working and had terrible side effects. After 6 months of not taking medications, and situations got hard to cope, I asked to be put back on. The second time around, the 75 mg had me very nervous, anxious, dizzy, and 'dopey.' The doctors said that the immediate release is harsh on your system and switched me to 150 mg XL. And just 3 days into the new dose, I do not have such harsh side effects. The only side effects I have are no appetite, dry mouth, and vivid dreams. Overall, I am no longer having obsessive negative thoughts (which triggered my anxiety), so I'm overall not as anxious or having panic attacks. I feel more motivated and energetic, but it's only 3 days in on this dose."

For Smoking Cessation "I am 37 years old and have been smoking since I was 12. I smoked 2 packs per day for the last 20 years. I started bupropion XL 9 days ago, 150 mg in the AM. The first 2 days, I didn't feel any different. On the 3rd day, cigarettes tasted nasty, and I started to get a dry mouth. I continued to smoke for 1 week. At the 1-week mark, I started taking 300 mg AM. Since I quit, I haven't had a single craving. I feel absolutely amazing. I have been experiencing some side effects, though. I get dizzy and feel jittery about an hour after I take the medicine. Come the afternoon, I feel fine. I would not have been able to stop smoking if it weren't for this medicine. =)"

For ADHD "I've been on 200 mg bupropion (regular release, not SR/XR) total for over 5 years, along with an SSRI. I have depression and ADD. The bupropion helps the focus, though it can make me feel impatient and irritable when it 'peaks.' I like it because it helps with the depression, ADHD, and restless legs and helps offset the negative effect of SSRIs on libido. It does make intrusive images/thoughts worse. I will have sudden mental images of violence (for instance, suddenly getting slammed into by another car while driving), but I'm used to my brain being a pest, so I let it roll off me. Helps with motivation, planning, and organization. Can cause dry mouth and slight ringing in the ears."

For Anxiety "Diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and GAD, I started taking this medication at 150 mg. After 4-5 weeks of dry mouth, headaches, night sweats, abnormal dreams, and a slight head jerk every now and then, my anxiety had almost disappeared. I lost 10 lbs the first 2 months but eventually gained it back, which I didn't mind. WB has made a huge difference with the physiological symptoms of my anxiety, meaning that I no longer feel physically uncomfortable, especially in social situations. My doc has increased my dosage to 300 mg after being on 150 mg for 8 months. So far, after one week on the new dosage, all the initial side effects I had when I first started taking WB have returned, but with the addition of dry eyes and blurred vision."

Bupropion for Major Depressive Disorder "Coming from a very problematic childhood, I've been labeled everything from A to Z by psychiatrists and given a slew of meds. Wellbutrin, in my experience, has been beyond beneficial. At first, for the first week or two, I had slight tremors, irregular heartbeat, major insomnia, and headaches, but I dismissed them. I still have slight insomnia, which is why I take them when I wake up. But reading comprehension, multitasking, thought focus, and moods overall have dramatically improved! I'm one of those people that may have to take them for the rest of my life, but I'm not complaining =). One thing that does bother me, though, is dry mouth from Wellbutrin, but I take Biotene, which helps a bit. Enough to make it worth it anyways lol."

Bupropion for Depression "I've been on and off taking Wellbutrin from 200 mg to 150 mg for two years now. It's good for your depression. The only side effects I experience are dry mouth, mild headaches, and stomach pain. Other than that, I have no problem with Wellbutrin. It keeps me calm. I'm not overthinking about anything, I just feel relaxed and numb."

Bupropion for Depression "I was prescribed 50 mg Wellbutrin to take 1/day for my ADHD symptoms and depression. I had read good things about this drug, so I was excited to try it, and I was hopeful about it being able to work for me. The first two days I took it, I felt better-more energy, happier outlook on life! But after the third day, I felt like I wasn't taking any pill at all. No noticeable positive effects and only negative side effects, like dry mouth, headaches, and sore throat. A week later, I decided to ask my doctor to up my dosage to the XL 150 mg. What a mistake! I started having paradoxical effects from it. I was CONSTANTLY exhausted, no motivation to do anything, and I became so irritable and angry that I would start the day already in a bad mood, and small things would set me off. It made me feel unbearably depressed, which I had not done that in many years. I can see how this may be a miracle drug for some, but definitely be wary of how it affects you. Still looking for mine.:("

Bupropion for Depression "I've been taking 300 mg of Wellbutrin for two months now, and I am really impressed with how great it has been. I am way more motivated, feel happier, and quit smoking too. I find it much easier to go to work, and going to the gym is actually wonderful, instead of the incredibly difficult task it was before. I think that Wellbutrin works particularly well when combined with exercise. I have had a little bit of dry mouth and some trouble sleeping, but when compared to the benefits, the side effects are very minor."

Bupropion for Depression "I only have good things to say about this medicine. It worked for me for my anxiety, even though it started to really work 2 months after I started the medication. So far, I have been on it for about 4 months. I feel great, I feel happy, and I have lost 14 lbs. Dry mouth is the only reason why I don’t give it a 10."
