"Wellbutrin saved my life. I have borderline personality disorder. Wellbutrin makes it easier for me to not let every tiny thing affect me and to not dwell as much on one bad topic as I used to before. My mood definitely improved. Shaking like crazy for the first two weeks, no bad symptoms after, except going to the toilet. I am even more constipated than I used to be, damn."

"End-of-life experience with a borderline personality mother, with narcissistic tendencies. She developed dementia, heavily colored by her BPD. Her reasoning and logic abilities diminished greatly, along with certain memory issues. But her powers of communication and manipulation remained Oscar-worthy, even though she’d forget what lies she told to whom. If her inconsistency was pointed out, she’d rage. She truly loved being as cruel as possible to people when angry. Anger was frequent, tantrums embarrassing and infantile but terrifying. Then diagnosed with terminal cancer. The meds to calm elderly agitated patients made her more agitated. Several meds tried. Her mood swings were so frequent and extreme, it was like having four different patients. Finally requested Wellbutrin/Bupropion out of desperation. It made a big difference, helped other meds to work better, bringing relief to her anxiety, anger, tantrums, and sanity back to us. Her swings were less dramatic and frequent."

"Such a massive pain to actually start getting prescribed this in the UK. But I noticed the effects really quickly, I had none of the bad side effects I had had from other antidepressants. It got my energy back, and my mind felt sharper."

"I have BPD. Wellbutrin gives me motivation to get on with things. I just started. A little shaky. I know this will go away. It's helping my irritability around my boyfriend. I'm not so reactive. I'm on 300XL. I hope this works. Good luck everyone."

"I've been on Wellbutrin for over a year now. I stopped taking it at first because of the side effects (I was on 200mg), and I had gone through a pretty big life-changing period. I left my dead-end job and left my deadbeat boyfriend. I started to get very unstable again, going through very self-destructive bouts of depression and anger. I started again on 200mg, I basically became a zoned-out blob and went back down to 100mg SL. For the first week, I didn't eat, I had migraines, I was very irritable and twitchy. I was nauseous, constipated, restless, and had constant heart palpitations and dizziness. The bad side effects go away, I promise, it's so worth it. After a few weeks, one by one the side effects went away. I can now keep a regular sleeping schedule, my previous fear of food contamination is no more, and I can eat. I feel hopeful, I got myself a full-time job, I got into university, I feel I finally have a future. Unfortunately, though, I am super underweight, and it is not helping."

"I have taken Wellbutrin probably three different times over the last 12 years. Initially, it always lifts my mood, and I feel great after getting past the initial side effects. However, after 6 months to a year, I find myself suffering from increased anxiety, panic attacks, and an uncontrollable worsening of my PTSD symptoms. When I discontinue the medication, the spiral ends."

"I was on escitalopram for about 10 years, until I realized that my BPD was not under control anymore, with insane night sweats, extra procrastination, zero energy, oversleeping, and my social anxiety was back with a bang. My IBS was making my life a living hell with constant pain. My ADD spiraled out of control as well. Switched to Wellbutrin. 5 months in now. My energy is back, night sweats are gone, no rage or panic episodes to declare. I am productive again, and I can more easily maintain stable contractual commitments and work-related relationships. IBS is back to one or two mild flare-ups a week. I do have nausea and some dizziness as side effects, but nothing making my life insufferable. It was absolutely worth it for me."

"I have only been taking bupropion for a month, but it has helped tremendously. It’s not a magic pill, I still struggle to want to wake up, but I feel okay, and that’s so much better than I was, so I am thankful."

"I was having a very bad experience with venlafaxine, previously to bupropion, meaning extremely irritable, suicidal ideation, and self-harm compulsions, etc. So I tapered off it and switched to Zyban 150 mg. I have been through a lot of antidepressants and a lot of subsequent activation syndromes, but this is definitely the worst. About 6 days in, I felt extremely ill: drenching night sweats, low blood pressure manifesting as constant dizziness, and the inability to regulate my body temperature. I had a lot of nausea, which could only be offset by lying down in a dark room all day. I just wanted to sleep to prevent these side effects. As for mood, just extremely tearful (mainly about the ongoing 3 months of bad experiences with medication and then why now I felt like what I can only imagine chemo side effects to feel like, and I am not saying that lightly). Fast forward to day 11, I am still getting bad dizziness and fatigue, etc., with little change to mood. My appetite has also increased."

"1st week = mini heart attacks, increased anxiety, heavy breathing, low sex drive, sweating, body odor increased (BO). Overthinking, negative, honestly was going to give up. So many side effects. 2nd week = fewer heartaches, lower anxiety, normal breathing, sex drive up, low hunger, lost like 5 lbs in those 2 weeks, sweating palms, sweating armpits. More confident due to less thinking. 3rd week = Sweating palms, little to no anxiety, body odor still present, metabolism is on fire, always craving snacks, no sadness, but easily irritated. Seems like if you have anger issues, this will be a big problem since you don't feel sad anymore. 4th week = I'm still in the process :) Overall, give it a few weeks, it worked for my depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, and abuse. Former Marine and survivor of parental abuse. Good luck, people! It's time to get our lives back!"
