For Opioid Use Disorder "Been on sub strips for a few years. Got tired of the two-week refill nonsense. I asked my doctor if I could be the office guinea pig for the Sublocade 300 mg shot. Taken once a month by injection. We hashed out the insurance details and started on 4/28/19. The injection site burns and hurts going in, leaving a slight bruise. Not looking forward to my next shot, however, this stuff is great. Other than the pain and burn, it works. The injection site will have a lump-like spot after. This is normal. That’s the medicine sitting under the skin. Turns into a solid and slowly gets absorbed into the body throughout the month. When compared to the pain and suffering I caused during my addiction, this slight side effect to the drug doesn’t compare. If you want a better life and to be right!!! You gotta get involved with this Sublocade or any other type of opioid treatment like Suboxone. Take it as prescribed and life gets better. Bottom line. Hope this helps."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was on Suboxone for 10 years, and I weaned myself down to one 2 mg strip a day, and I just couldn’t kick it. I found out about Sublocade, and the 1st month I took a 300 mg injection, then the 2nd month I took 100 mg. The last shot I took was December 2018, and I’ve not had to take any Suboxone since my 1st shot of Sublocade. It’s now November 2019, and I’ve had no withdrawals whatsoever. The only problem I’m having is it still shows up on urine drug screens, and I have random tests. But other than that, it’s been great."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was an addict for 17 years. I used opiates and coke. I got on Suboxone 7 years ago and have been clean for 5. But I was still on 4 mg of Suboxone. I got 1 Sublocade injection back in June. Afterwards, because of COVID, it was a pain going to the doctor. I really didn't like the injection, so I got a script of Suboxone. I decided to wait until I needed them. It has been almost 6 months, and I've been opiate and Suboxone-free. I've had minor withdrawals, but nothing I couldn't handle. It seems too good to be true, but it is. It worked for me so far, and I'm pretty sure one injection shot isn't gonna last this long. Anyway, hope you all the best."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was on opioids for 8 years, I recently checked myself into a facility for 30 days, which had me on a total of 12 mg Subs a day. I recently received my Sublocade injection 2 weeks ago. There was a slight sensation upon injection (lasted maybe 20 seconds), which I felt at the end. I haven't had any cravings at all whatsoever. My injection site is perfectly fine (I have very sensitive skin). Little bump, that's it. I feel so free! I hope this information inspires someone on their journey or about to start."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "20+ years of running my life into the ground, I did one shot and never went back! It becomes out of sight, out of mind because you are not taking something every day! 2 weeks in and it wasn't something I thought about! Big Tip: DO NOT COUNT THE DAYS AFTER TAKING THE SHOT! Losing count is big mentally! That's 90% of it! Oh yeah! ZERO WITHDRAWALS!"

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "Been on subs for almost 8 months, 16 mg a day. Got the shot a little over 2 weeks ago. The first day was excellent. I was really excited about the month to come and finally felt as though I would be able to come off of the maintenance sooner with less withdrawal. That was the plan. Since then, I have needed to take my original 16 mg daily and feel as though that is not even working. I've had severe anxiety bouts and deep depression since receiving the shot. I even went on vacation to the beach and was miserable, feeling like a black, scary cloud was engulfing my life, sensing impending doom and fear. Out of the last 6 years, I've been clean for 4 and a half. And only 8 months has been on subs. If it weren't for my devotion to my newborn son, 6 months old, my relationship with God, and my first-hand knowledge in recovery, I would have failed already. I encourage everyone to write their own truths here so that we can make better decisions based upon real-life experiences. (34-year-old male)"

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "I was on Subs since 2011. I had to go back every 2 weeks for my refill and do a drug screen. Now since I switched over to the shot, all is well. I wake up every morning able to focus on what I have to do for that day. Not having to take something right when I get up is awesome too. I am on my 4th shot of 300 mg, which is my maintenance dose too. No cravings or withdrawals transferring over either. Best choice I made."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been on Sublocade for 5 months, it's a miracle. Never could I imagine not taking something after 30 years (yes years!) of being a heroin addict, I just can't believe it. I'm in month 5 and going strong. I'd advise any opiate addict to give it a go, you won't regret it."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was on Suboxone for 8 years (4-6 mg). I decided to go the Sublocade route. I did have to increase my dosage to 8 mg daily before I got the shot. The shot itself was painless (my doc numbed me up before). At first, I HATED the shot, I was groggy, numb, and withdrawn. However, after two weeks, I started to feel better. I recommend that YOU DO NOT SUPPLEMENT!!! The whole reason to get this shot is to get off daily Suboxone. Yes, there was some discomfort in the beginning, but try to stick it out. My doctor recommended 3 shots total: 300 mg, 300 mg, 100 mg. After the first shot, I realized I feel fine, I called the doctor's office and canceled my next shots. There are some side effects, my constipation is horrible, I feel like I gained a few pounds (for some reason, I craved SWEETS the first month). However, it’s been two months since my shot, and I feel better every day!"

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "I’ve switched over from 12-14 mg a day sub films (about 3 years on) with peak usage of three 8 mg films per day. I was always feeling the ups and downs, and sometimes even feeling opiate sick in the mornings. On Sublocade, that all went away. I wish I could summarize all the benefits I’ve experienced since the switch! The best part is it’s fully covered by insurance. This stuff actually brings the sense of normality back into livelihood. No more fears of having enough meds or filling prescriptions, etc. Regarding the injection - it’s no fun, but also far from the worst thing I’ve ever felt. It feels like a typical shot, with the liquid having a warming effect upon entry. Ironically, and contrary to what I’ve read here from some, the only withdrawal I ever felt on Sublocade starts if I delay my injection past 30 days. Nonetheless, it comes light and pales in comparison to Suboxone ups and downs! I couldn’t recommend this product enough. Wish you all the best."

For Opioid Use Disorder "My husband has been on Suboxone for three years. Three days ago, he received his first Sublocade injection. It does leave a knot at the injection site but isn't painful. The day of the shot, he experienced extreme euphoria (unusual for him with bup/nal) and said his head felt a lot of pressure but felt no withdrawal symptoms. Day two, the euphoric feeling was gone, but he said he felt like he'd been hit by a truck and had a massive headache. Still no withdrawal, though. Today is day three, and he woke up with another truly bad headache that made him nauseous. Still, though, no withdrawals. The goal is to eventually wean off the medication. He's being patient and trying to believe these side effects (reported as common) are just his body adapting to the new delivery system. The most important thing is to avoid debilitating withdrawal. For that purpose, it has been effective. I'll continue to post as he moves closer to the end of the first cycle and when he receives his second injection."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I seem to be the only person who has noticed a marked increase in depression since taking this injection. I start feeling like rubbish a couple of weeks after my injection, and become listless and overall have little motivation. I certainly am puzzled that I’ve read nothing from others who might be experiencing the same. I’ve taken a lot of recreational drugs for a couple of decades but stopped opiate use a few years ago with the help of Subutex (and a personal preference for coke), and I am really not a success story with coming off Subutex. I hoped the Sublocade injection would help, but it’s actually worse than the strips. The pain others cite regarding the actual injection is not an issue for me, it’s the depression that sneaks up on me a couple of weeks after I have the injection. It seems odd that after years of methadone then Subutex strips I’d have bad depression only on Sublocade, but that’s how it is. I have nothing to gain or lose by writing here. It’s rubbish for me!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "In Tennessee, if you have Medicaid, the shot is completely covered. I'm completely at ease. If you're really willing to quit, the medication will work. However, stop relying on the medication alone. See a therapist, and go to meetings. They have them online. Sublocade has a program where you only have to pay $5 a shot most of the time if you're not on state Medicaid. I do what I'm supposed to do to stay clean. If you truly want the same thing, you'll do what you gotta do. And if you try this medication, do the things I've suggested here, stop making excuses, and change your lifestyle, you will get clean and stay that way. It's time to be honest with yourself and get a grip!!!!"

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "Day two of Sublocade, and I feel sick to my stomach. Stomachache, nausea, cold sweats, and just overall not feeling well. I'm not sure if my body is just trying to adjust to this or what's going on, but even if tomorrow I feel better and the rest of this month I feel better, it will have not been worth it after today. I was doing just fine on my Suboxone, but my doctors kept pushing Sublocade, and now I have to suffer through this."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Since I’ve been on the Sublocade, which has been two months now, I feel like I have lifted a huge weight off my back. I get out of bed right away, and I just go about my day instead of worrying about taking the time to dissolve two strips under my tongue for like a half hour. I have noticed a change in my behavior as far as just being more positive about not being stuck on some medication, even though I still am on it - it’s just a little more liberating."

For Opioid Use Disorder "My son was one of the first shots released in April. He just got shot number 8. He feels great. No withdrawals. No ups and downs. No cravings. Doesn’t even think about it. Lives a completely normal life now. The shot hurts, but he says it’s worth it. I am so grateful for this medicine. The choice of taking Suboxone every day was not working for him. Having the shot in him with no choice made all the difference. He wants to stop at shot 12."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "Like most, I'm an ex-IV heroin/oxy user. Been in Suboxone for 2 years, 16 mg daily. Had my first Sublocade shot 48 hours ago at 300 mg. It kinda gave me an opiate high just a couple of hours after the (very painful) injection, and I felt more of a buzz than Suboxone. I'm not like nodding off, but I feel it, which I haven't felt in a very long time. No cravings. I haven't had to take a sublingual dose since the shot. I honestly feel great, but not in a scary way. I highly recommend this for anyone serious about staying clean."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "This wasn’t a godsend for me. I think that there’s not enough known about it currently to suggest it to everybody. First off, buprenorphine is buprenorphine. This is the same medicine as Suboxone, so there’s no way someone on 8 mg and someone on 24 mg are going to be okay on the same dose. Doctors will tell you it’ll be fine and that they don’t know how much it really releases every month, but after looking into it, this thing releases 2 mg a day, and that reduces to one and then half of a mg, which is why most people go through withdrawals for a week or two after changing from stripe to the shot. I personally did. My doctor said almost everyone has a week of WD. This is only for people on a low dose or who want to get off of it so badly that they don’t mind feeling sick. This is great if used as a stepping stone off of Suboxone. I would taper down and then use this to get off. You feel nothing and have cravings. Best for those on low dose wanting off."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "Well, I went today and got my first Sublocade injection. I have a pretty good pain tolerance, but I have to admit it was pretty damn painful, it burned pretty bad. So far, though, I feel pretty good. I hope this turns out to be a positive experience. I have been on the subs tablets for about 7 years, and I was tired of dealing with the pharmacy. So I will update soon."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "I just received my 4th shot of Sublocade today after taking Suboxone for almost 10 years and being a multiple drug addict for years before that. This shot has literally changed my life. When I was on the pills, it was like I would crave them, but now I don't even think about it. I wake up feeling great and stable all through the day, all through the month. It's been amazing for me."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I started Sublocade a year ago. I had significant clean time with the strips and eventually got off them, stayed completely clean except for weed for 3 years. Anyway, I started shooting meth and coke again, which eventually led back to heroin. I went to inpatient and was desperate to get back on the subs but learned of Sublocade. I struggled for my first six months on the injection, meaning I still smoked crack and shot up fetty. There were mornings where I'd shoot up then go get my shot. It never gave me any precipitated withdrawal symptoms and actually prevented me from getting dope sick if I couldn't score. But because of house arrest and my employer, I had to get the illegal drugs out of my system. Now I am 6 months clean, and I know there is no way I could not have done it without Sublocade. Since I stopped using and actually let the medicine do its job, I feel amazing."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "I have been on some form of buprenorphine for over 10 years. When I first started, I was taking 24 mg daily. I was able to wean down to 16 mg daily, which is still an extremely high dose. I have had absolutely no luck lowering it anymore. I also had an issue taking an extra 1 every few days, which would leave me in withdrawal for the last few days. Knowing those strips were there always screwed me up, but I desperately wanted to get off the meds. I explained the issue I was having with my doctor. He suggested switching to Sublocade. I just received my 5th injection and couldn't be happier! Definitely a good choice for patients who are having trouble weaning yourself off. The first month, I was a little tired, but I can tell you now I feel normal. I love that I no longer have the option to take another strip because of 'stress.' Also, the injection does not hurt. It burns for 20 seconds, then nothing. I'm very excited that I finally can see an end in sight."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "I will make this short. For some, this stuff may be a godsend, for me, it was good until several months into it, then deep depression. I’ve been fighting the depression for 4 months. I received my last shot 4 months ago as well. I had a blood draw a couple weeks ago to check my bup levels, and they are almost none, but no withdrawal yet. If you're anything like me, I bet you have found nothing on what happens when it fully dissolves? Does anyone have experience with what does happen? I’m expecting withdrawals, but since not even Suboxone/Sublocade, the manufacturer can tell me, I’m at a total loss for information! Thanks for any help...."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "Amazing feeling, and consistently so. No worries of getting stuck without medication, and no ups and downs. Shot hurts a bit, but well worth it. It’s been a tad difficult dropping to the 100 mg maintenance dose, but easily managed and far superior to the 12 mg Suboxone film I’ve been on for years. My doctor gave me 10 Subutex to help my body adjust, and almost a month later, I have over 8.5 left. Honestly, I’m not sure I needed any at all. I never thought I would be so happy to get my medication injected into me once a month. Insurance has been very good to me regarding coverage as well. Best regards, all."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "It’s been 6 shots now at 300 mg. I didn’t have to bump down to the 100 mg like they suggested. Doing fantastic still. Wake up every day still living life to my fullest. I wake up every morning feeling great, no withdrawals, no worries about if I am going to run out of my meds early. Everything’s going smooth. Thank you, Sublocade."
