"The new delivery system for Qvar is a disaster. I have coughed non stop and don’t have enough air to even cook dinner. I am allergic to albuterol so I have no rescue inhaler. This was one inhaler I did not have an allergic reaction to. I guess I will have to start trying a different medicine and will be sick with reactions until I find one that works. I have a few words for Teva, but they are not printable."

"Qvar redihaler is NOT the same as regular Qvar and any provider or pharmacist that tells you that is lying or doesn't actually know. I have had severe asthma my whole life and Regular Qvar worked and well and kept my asthma controlled so I didn't have to use my rescue as much. I live in constant agony nowadays I can't find anything that worked as well. But do not use redihaler it is not good! Please bring regular Qvar back and get rid of redihaler!"

"this product works well, however; the last shipment that I received was a different applicator that is terrible! the number of doses remaining goes down but it fails to administer the drug many times. I never know how many doses are remaining because the count is way off. I have even tried to open and close slowly to ensure it opens fully and closes fully and still nothing but yet the number reflects that it worked. I have done this as many as 16 times in order to get one complete dose. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL APPLICATOR!!!!"

"I would give a higher rating except that , as others have noted, I don't get the stated 120 doses per canister. Qvar works very well for me when I get the recommended dosage. When the canister starts to fail and I don't realize I'm not getting the prescribed amount things go downhill. I don't like paying for medicine I don't get but the far bigger issue is not getting the protection Qvar provided when I do get it. If the manufacturer fixed this I'll be very happy with Qvar."

"I've used Qvar and had no problems until they switched to the redihaler. Now my asthma is not controlled and I wake up lots of nights struggling to breathe. I called the company to replace my inhaler because it stopped working half way through. I get 3 at a time through mail order and I think they're way too expensive to be such junk. I tried to use the 2nd inhaler from my mail order and it doesn't work at all so I'm going to have to call them back to replace that one as well. I would throw the inhalers away but they are too expensive. I can't believe this company is messing with people's lives!! I will be switching to another brand if I don't die in the meantime."

"I’ve tried using Qvar on 3 separate occasions, each time I use it, it causes asthma symptoms (wheezing, shortness of breath), which means I have to take my rescue inhaler or albuteral right after taking Qvar. I refuse to take this medicine again! Does more harm than good!!"

"I was on the old design of the Qvar inhaler and totally fine. I have had the same issue as many other people have commented- it randomly does not dispense medicine when used leading to uncontrolled asthma. I'm on my fourth redihaler and this one started malfunctioning at 83 doses left. The reason I noticed the first one was malfunctioning? My asthma became dangerously out of control and upon inspecting my inhaler after taking it I saw white mist slowly spew out AFTER I had already taken a puff."

"I used Qvar since 2007. I considered it my miracle drug because it had my asthma under control. I almost never had to use my rescue inhaler. THEN the inhaler design was changed. I could not get the counter to go down; therefore, I didn’t know if I was getting any medicine. I tried 6 of the new inhalers. The counter did not go down for any of them. I talked to three pharmacists, and I demonstrated how I used it. All three said that I was using it properly. I also talked to the manufacture and they wouldn’t send me anymore since they had replaced the first three. I also talked to about 10 pharmacists on the phone. I also reported it to the FDA. They should not have taken the old design off the market until they were sure the new design worked."

"I have been using Qvar for over two years off and on for Variant Asthma. It kept my cough under control. A couple of months ago, picked up new prescription and was surprised to see the Redihaler. I thought, “Wow, this is great!” I spoke too soon, besides the expensive price tag, it quit working half way through the doses. I noticed I didn’t taste any medication. I was going through a bout of bronchitis from a cold. The Qvar was not working at all! Thankfully, I still had another brand of steroid inhaler I started using that worked. I won’t pay for another one. Poor design. I have great insurance, so cost isn’t the Main issue for me, but a waste of money when they quit working. Will be seeing my pulmonologist to change to another brand."

"My first question is why was the old qvar container discontinued if something is not broke why would you try and fix it? IF a four-year-old was having a problem with container, the parent should have shared this information with the doctor, I am a adult patient and my experience with the new inhaler is awful, I have not been able to get any relief since you change the inhaler ( container) if you lose the patient that benefit from the old dispenser you would have lost money and also your customers. In order for me not to end up in the hospital I would like to receive the oldest container of qvar back at my Pharmacy "

"The redi-haler is awful. I coughed for 15 days trying to use the new design. It wasn't working. I had bought 3 units from my mail order and the other 2 don't work either. Teva replaced the 1st unit but I still need to call them back about units 2 & 3. I don't believe these units dispense any product. Two of them, however, spewed out product long after I took it out of my mouth. I need to speak to my doctor about another product."

"I have had issues with 5 of the last 6 Qvar RediHalers as they would not dispense the last 20 to 50 doses. I just bought another one even though my last one is showing 28 doses remaining. I can tell that the last 10 or so doses were not even delivered. I decided to try something . I took my old one and separated the top half of the body from the bottom half by unscrewing it. You may need to cut through the label if it prevents you from twisting it open. Next, I removed the cannister by pulling its nozzle from the hole. I then took a can of compressed air using the long skinny nozzle that comes with it, I stuck that nozzle right into the hole that I pulled the cannister from and I sprayed. My thinking was that perhaps there was a blockage. I put the cannister back in the hole, twisted the body halves back together and gave it a try. It worked. It's been just like new after 10 doses. Hope this helps."

"I've been on QVar 80 mcg for a long while - years - with no issues & good asthma control. Swapped to QVar Redihaler last month because the conventional propelled QVar was no longer available. Same dose, 80 mcg. Same general method of taking, fully exhaling beforehand, then inhaling deeply & holding breath - just no shaking of inhaler & no pushing down to actuate. Only now it seems to wear off much faster, so that I feel the need to take my next dose a couple of hours before it's due (I don't take it early, but I feel very wheezy). In the past, I sometimes forgot my second dose because I didn't feel like I needed it. My pulmonologist says there's been no adverse changes in my lung health to explain this. And the medication & dose haven't changed. So it makes no sense to me that I'd be fully controlled on one, poorly controlled on the other."

"I have used the 40mcg Qvar inhaler for several years. My past several inhaler have worked ok at first & then one stopped counting after the 72nd dose. It no longer decreased when I used it. I do not believe any dose was being provided. Two more inhalers have given off a "loud" gas-exhalation sound at about 30 doses left, & then nothing more comes out when you load it. Something is seriously wrong with these inhalers."

"As others report, my Qvar RediHaler 80mcg stopped functioning properly. I wasn't clear what was happening - my hearing isn't perfect - and my asthma became poorly controlled because the drug was not actually dispensing when I was using it. Today I switched to a new RediHaler and could immediately tell it was dispensing - and that the last one had been failing to dispense before. I kept the defective device for investigators (just in case a regulator decides to do their job) and reported to the FDA and my Attorney General's office, including my contact info. I hope others will consider doing the same."

"I notice short dosing across lots of QVAR inhalers starting at 25 doses left. By 15 doses left, I might as well not use it. Frustrating because it on formulary. The company replaces them but who wants to call every month? I have reported to FDA twice. If not for this, would rate a 10."

"This stuff is literally a lifesaver. I've had chronic, severe asthma for as long as I can remember and I finally stopped being scared of steroid inhalers to do something about it. I've been on Qvar for about 2 months, and I couldn't have ever imagined waking up without needing to use my inhaler right away, let alone actually sleep through a night without grabbing for it multiple times! Sometimes I even forget to bring my emergency inhaler when I leave the house, which was once completely unimaginable, because I rarely use it now. I've had no side effects from Qvar, I rinse my mouth out after use and all that (tip; you have to close the cap between each puff to reset it). The potential of a weakened immune system does admittedly freak me out, but personally I would rather live in comfort and without fear of an asthma attack striking at any moment than possibly getting the cold more easily."

"I've used qvar for years, after using azmacort, which started giving me panic attacks. I only use it once a day, which is fantastic. The expense is horrible. It's gone up in price drastically over the past three years--just went up again I believe, to $178 for a 40mcg inhaler. It's the best medication for me, as I need very little of it, and I don't except in extremely rare circumstances, need my emergency inhaler. It's great for management of my mild asthma. Insurance helps a lot with the expense."

"Was using the old pump QVAR and it was working great. When it came time to renew my prescription I was surprized to find these new devices. They do not work to delivery the mediation. Went on ThingVerse and 3D Printed an Integrated inhaler and Aerochamber. Works great. Really sucks that Teva changed the format and is now ripping people off. The meds are the same but the new delivery device and even the canister have changed. so that you cannot use your old inhaler body. Very sad. You can find it here to print your own. "I've been taking the 80mcg for going on 3 weeks now and I don't feel like its doing any good. I am still using my rescue inhaler 2-4xs a day. I also in the last week have developed what feels like a lump in my throat and trouble swallowing/dry throat along with headaches."

"I have had to return the Redihaler twice to the pharmacy because it keeps dosing AFTER I stop inhaling. It also dispenses particles. I liked the old inhaler device better and had no problems with it. I worry how it affects your health when the dose is not regulated."

"I have been using Qvar inhaler for years. It's annoying that they switched to breath activated inhaler and have been feeling like it didn't quite control my asthma as well as the old kind. The last 2 Redihalers I've used have been absolutely terrible. When about half the doses are used up, the inhaler has a very weak spray that goes on for about 20 seconds. Likely I'm getting way less than a full dose since breathing in doesn't take that long. Utterly unacceptable!"

"Worst inhaler design I’ve ever seen. Doesn’t work when you most need it. When paired with a nebulizer you have to remove from the nebulizer every time to reset. Adds time to a process that’s already fraught. Company thought that this amount of failure was acceptable and put it on the market anyway."

"The old inhaler worked fine. This new redihaler malfunctions. I had used about 40 puffs before it started not coming out properly. I will call the manufacturer to try and get a replacement but I am surprised to see so many others have had similar problems. Do they not test these out before launching? The new design is annoyingly big too."

"The new design for QVAR sucks! It's very difficult to use and it's hard to tell if it's working. The old push, release spray, and breath was much better. It's hard to tell if anything is getting into my lungs. Combine the fact that the RediHaler is a very poor design with the fact that the medication is very overpriced--I'll be looking for an alternative inhaler."
