For Bronchitis "I took amoxicillin as a young child multiple times for infections but did not have an issue with it until I was 9 or 10. I was prescribed it for bronchitis but started having pretty severe diarrhea. The doctor told my mom to have her keep taking it anyway. Horrible advice - the last dose I took felt like a rock dropped in my stomach. I laid on the bathroom floor curled in a ball for hours, shaking because the pain in my entire stomach was so bad. My mom said my face turned white and my mouth turned purple. I was super sensitive to sound and light and thought I was going to die. The doctor said it was just a severe reaction and to avoid. Many people can take it with no problem but be cautious if your child is getting sick from it, even if they have taken it before."

For Bronchitis "I started taking amoxicillin on Friday evening for bronchitis and saw major improvements by that Sunday. I noticed that following Wednesday I started having some diarrhea, and now today, I am having major diarrhea that caused me to miss work. I am taking the amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days. I will complete the regimen but hoping the diarrhea goes away soon."

For Bacterial Infection "My tooth wasn't painful when I started this, but after 4 days in, I started having diarrhea. I took the last pill yesterday, had to go 3 times and 2 times today, also had a stomach ache. I'm hoping it will go away."

Amoxicillin for Bacterial Infection "I was on this for 3-4 days for a bacterial infection from a wisdom teeth removal (nearly 3 months after). I noticed that I was getting constipated, took something for that. Then had consistent diarrhea for 2 days, also with constant nausea. I have since stopped since it got rid of all my bacteria in my gut. Slowly getting back to normal."

For Dental Abscess "Got a prescription of amoxicillin 250 mg x 4 days for dental abscess, took for a week. My abscess got worse, more swollen in gum area, experienced sickness, diarrhea for 4 days, tiredness, and headache. I wouldn't recommend for tooth infection as I had to have a second lot of antibiotics - metronidazole for a week. Hopefully this goes."

For Middle Ear Infections "Seems to be effective for a possible middle ear infection. The only thing to note was a bulging eardrum, so not certain if it was an infection or eustachian tube dysfunction. The doctor prescribed it as a precaution until I see an ENT specialist. The downside was the brutal skin hives that developed over my body on day 7 of taking the medication, especially on the hands, feet, neck, and face. Also, had bad diarrhea throughout the course of taking it."

For Bronchitis "Started to have severe vomiting and diarrhea after just one pill. Spent the day in bed. Tired another pill the next day, same thing: could not eat or drink without throwing up or having to use the bathroom. Stopped taking pills immediately after this. Will try and get better on my own. Lost 5 lbs in 2 days, which I did not need to lose."

For Bacterial Infection "Day one, nauseous. Day two, vomiting. Oh my gosh, day three: diarrhea three times, horrible, and nighttime bad aches and pains. Now I've had sepsis, worst pain ever, say a 10/10. Amoxicillin 6/10 for pain, can't sleep, helps if you sit up at night, try distracting yourself by reading!"

"The most common side effects of Amoxicillin include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, rash, and itching. Among the rarer and more dangerous Amoxil side effects that might be observed are blood disorders and inflammation of the large intestine. As long as the doctor-prescribed dosage of Amoxil is followed, the chances of adverse symptoms appearing are very low. Amoxicillin is generally a very safe medication."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Prescribed 15 tablets of amoxicillin to take over 5 days. Prior to commencing the course, I suffered very excruciating chest pain, which disappeared after taking 2 tablets. However, after taking a further 6 tablets, I suffered 4 severe attacks of very watery diarrhea, so, on my doctor's advice, I discontinued the treatment. For clearing the severe pain, I would give it 10/10, for the diarrhea, 0/10."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I used amoxicillin to treat different problems on different occasions throughout many years. It never failed me, always helped, and I didn't have any side effects from it. The last time I used it, however, to treat Helicobacter pylori, it gave me serious cramps and diarrhea. And for sure, it was not the other drug I used in conjunction, but amoxicillin, which surprised me to no end, because I never had such a reaction to amoxicillin. I looked at the brand - it was Sandoz, that I didn't use before. Had to switch the brand in order to accomplish the treatment. Then there were no problems - it worked as intended."

For Bronchitis "I'm 36 years old and have never had an issue with taking any meds other than Lortabs. Despite all of the reviews here, I was sure that I would be okay. The first night taking it, I noticed a lingering headache. I figured I can deal with a small headache if this is going to clear me up. Well, night two, the diarrhea started. The only reason why this was such a problem was that I was on my menstrual cycle as well. However, the diarrhea was not that bad, so I decided to take it again. Day three, my period stopped. I normally have a 6-day cycle, but it was completely gone. I also had severe stomach pain and diarrhea like water. I was in worse pain taking this med. I do not recommend this drug to anyone!!"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "This was for a prophylactic dose to protect hip replacements. The one and only time I did take only one dose, I had severe stomach cramps, multiple bouts of diarrhea about 12 hours after taking the med. I had also tried Clindamycin, but after taking it for many years each time I needed dental work, I ended up getting a rash over my neck and chest. The next time I had a dental appointment, my doc prescribed Cipro, from which I had no side effects after one dose. Around that time, friends began posting a lot of negative side effects from Cipro on Facebook. I demanded a change and was given Amoxicillin. The first dose caused diarrhea, but with the second one came severe cramps and diarrhea two days post-ingestion. Several days later, I experienced respiratory problems. Wish I knew if it was the Amoxicillin."

"Was on 500 mg twice a day for 10 days for strep. The first few days I was feeling better, but then towards the end, it got bad again. They said I had just caught it again. Went back and am on cefdinir now. But otherwise, this medication gave me no side effects at all. No diarrhea, nausea, or loss of appetite. I am happy about that, but this medication just seemed too mild for me that the strep was able to come back in the middle of my course."

For Bacterial Infection "I was treated in an Urgent Care Center for an infection. I am rather sensitive to antibiotics and so warned the nurse treating me. She prescribed the drug (875 mg, 2X daily). I took the first pill with a meal about 6 PM. I awoke at 2 AM with tremendous abdominal pain and diarrhea. I called 911 and was taken to the hospital via ambulance. I was there for 5 days while they treated me mainly for dehydration. I was near death."

For Middle Ear Infections "Otis Media, with a perforated eardrum. I was nervous to take this medicine due to the side effects of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I have GERD, so I was worried I’d be too sick to work or do much of anything. I’m on day four of taking two 500 mg amoxicillin pills twice daily. I have not vomited or felt too sick, just some heartburn here and there. I have had more frequent bowel movements, but nothing too crazy. My ear is not in pain and feels less full, but there’s still some gunk coming out of it. I’ll finish the 10-day course and hopefully the infection will be gone by then. Oh, and ladies, the vaginal itching side effect is very real."
