"I have been taking Zomig for migraine for the past 10 years. I used to suffer for 2 to 3 days with migraine. I was prescribed a lot of different medications, with no success. The first time I took Zomig, it took my migraine away within 30 to 45 minutes. It has just about always taken all my headaches away from then on. Usually, one 2.5 dose tablet takes it away. On occasion, I have to take a second dose. It has improved my quality of life greatly. I rarely have side effects also."

"I have been taking Zomig for a couple of years. It definitely takes my migraines away, but my skin and muscles hurt every time. I have to plan showering around it. Today, I had a very bad reaction after going on a very brisk 2-mile walk. My face and skin were flushed, nauseous, and hypersensitive to light. Migraine came back with a vengeance. Felt somewhat like heat stroke, which isn't possible as it's 70 degrees. Almost went to the hospital. Iced my head and rested. Finally feeling better. Note to self: do not exert myself on this medication!"

"Zomig has been a miracle for me. I had debilitating migraines for twenty years and had given up on finding anything that would help me. In 1998, a new doctor prescribed Zomig, and I have never had another debilitating migraine. When I have health insurance, it's great. Without insurance, outrageously expensive, $240 per month. But I am scared to try a different medicine, even though my insurance pushes for the change."

"I've been taking Zomig for 16 years. A 5 mg dose is too much, and one should eat before taking. It has always eliminated my migraine within 30 minutes. Sometimes I have some muscle soreness and weakness for a short while afterwards. The tradeoff is not a bad one."

"This is the only medication that will work for my migraines. My family doctor does fear I am taking too much. A lot of things trigger my migraines, but I will swear on this particular medication. I have tried everything. Unfortunately, the cost is outrageous, and the insurance companies do not like paying for it."

"Wow. I've just taken a dose (approximately 10 mins), and from not being able to function or see straight or even tolerate the slightest of noises or aural/visual stimulation, to now I can feel 'me' coming back already. And I am at work! I can type coherently now! A brilliant medicine. I even waited as I need a prescription refill and this was my last dose, so I tried keeping it at bay for 24-36 hours with ibuprofen and now it's receding like a black cloud lifting. I'm from the US but live in the UK now and would only hope US insurance covers this. I do find migraines can often seem to be 'clusters,' as they say, and if 1 in a few months doesn't do the trick, 1 a day for a few days works just as well. Amazing, thanks AstraZeneca."

"I've had migraines for about 10 years. They run in the family, unfortunately. I've tried a lot of other stuff, and also Imitrex. Nothing helped at all with my bad headaches until I was given Zomig by my doctor. I've tried both the ZMT and the regular swallow tablets. To me, they are the miracle pill. Just this morning, I had a severe migraine, one of the worst in a while. I was ready to go to the ER, it hurt so bad. I took a Zomig, and about 20 minutes later, I could feel the effects. I took a nap and woke up without the migraine and was able to come to work today. I still get drowsy during the day, but it beats having the migraine ruin my life."

"I have had migraines since the age of 27. Now 62 and still get them. I have been taking Zomig for the past 10 years, and they are the only tablet that has helped me. At first, the dosage was 5 mg and was brought down to 2.5 mg, as the side effects made me feel as though my arms and chest were really heavy and were accompanied by a very dry mouth and I was not able to drink anything hot. Sometimes I get very tired the day before the migraine hits, and I know it's time for a Zomig. I still get these sensations, but not all of the time. I pay $36.45 every month for 6 tablets, expensive but it works. My only worry now is that after the age of 65 it is not advisable to take them. I wonder what I am going to do?"

"I was diagnosed with migraines when I was in 3rd grade. That's been forever ago since I am now 39. I take Topamax as my daily regimen to help not have them as much. They have tried me on all kinds of medicine to help once I start to get the migraine, and almost nothing works, and I end up sick for days. The reaction I had to Zomig was the worst, though. I took the pill the first time, and my then-fiancé ran to the store, leaving me home with my infant daughter (she's 17 now). When he returned, he found me blue and unresponsive on the floor. It was a nightmare. I was rushed to the ER, and well, here I am, but clearly it didn't work for me. Now I take Rizatriptan Benzoate self-dissolving. I have side effects, but at least I'm breathing."

"I would just like to say it is very important to know what other medications you are taking with this medicine. It can have very bad side effects. I only took this medicine 2 times when I had a very bad interaction. It was before they made it known not to mix an antidepressant with it, and it took years to find out what really had happened other than a drug interaction. I was on Paxil at the time. I wound up going to the hospital for them to tell me that everything was fine, but it took about a week before I was feeling normal. My heartbeat was very rapid, I was delusional and uncoordinated. It felt like my insides were burning from the inside out, but yet I felt a constant chill. I am not saying not to take this drug, but be careful."

"I have taken Zomig 2.5 mg for years with good relief and no side effects. Recently, after taking it, I've had episodes of severe heartburn not relieved by antacids, Pepto-Bismol, or anything else I can think of to take. It eventually leads to nausea. This isn't listed as a common side effect. My doctor was surprised to hear this. Sometimes, I still take 1/2 a pill with partial pain relief and no heartburn. I notice the heartburn most when I take Zomig at night and go to bed soon after. I've been mostly relying on Fiorinal with codeine, which works most of the time."

"Thought I was having a stroke as the migraine was the worst I’ve ever had, severe nausea, unbearable pain, and rapid heart rate, etc. Took a 2.5 mg tablet and was able to sleep within 25 mins, and when I woke up just over an hour later, I felt human again. Did have some shooting pains in chest after 20 mins, but as far as side effects go, it’s not the worst. Personally, it’s given me some quality of life back as my migraines are chronic."

"The medication works, however, it makes me incredibly sleepy. It also makes my skin very sensitive, and my jaw will ache. It hurts to chew. It is worth it to get rid of the migraine, but it has some unpleasant side effects."

"Been taking Zomig for about a year for common migraines (without aura, I think). I never know if a serious migraine is coming on, but Zomig seems to work for it all. I break the 5 mg pill in half at first if it's not bad, then take a whole 5 mg pill if I wake up to a headache the next day. My headaches used to last 2-5 days switching sides. Imitrex seemed to work, but it made my arms and chest feel heavy. Zomig has fewer side effects and seems to work just as well. I do have a few side effects, but I associate them with relief, so they don't really bother me. A pill will put me out, and I'll sleep really well, my skin gets sensitive to temperature (showers will sting a little), and as soon as the headache subsides, I'll feel a little euphoric."

"I haven't found any medication that helps with my migraines. Zomig caused me to experience a heat flash that lasted about an hour. Onset of neck stiffness not as bad as prior triptan medications used, but still limited activities. Stinging and increased sensitivity in the nose, mouth, and throat, similar to sinus pressure. Semi-painful. Glands sensitive to taste and make everything 'sour' reaction. Liquid felt in the nose and mouth for an hour or so. Bad aftertaste and dizziness. Had to lay down and take a nap, and side effects were still felt 24 hours later."

"Been diagnosed with chronic migraine for years now, and been struggling with these for a long time. I had Tomapax as my maintenance, and I take it every day, 2x a day, and if it triggers, I have to take Zomig. But we've been changing my migraine pills every single time because it doesn't help. I am sick and tired of migraine."

"I received a free sample of the Zomig 5 mg nasal spray, tried it after an onset of a migraine, and it intensified it five times and elevated my blood pressure. It turned a moderate migraine into a mega migraine within minutes. Throbbing pain, neck stiffness. The sound of my own voice was too loud, had to sit in my office for two hours in the dark before attempting to drive home. Will not try again."

"I have suffered with migraines for over 30 years and am now on a prevention medication morning and evening called Topamax. It really seems to help, but when a migraine strikes, which they still do, I find Zomig nasal sprays a total fantastic find. Nothing has ever worked so fast or as well."

"I have suffered with migraines for 20 years, and without Zomig, I would have missed out on many things in life. There are side effects such as a spaced-out feeling, dry mouth, and increased urine, which only last a few hours after taking the medication. But I would rather have minor side effects and live my life without always being in pain."

"I was given this to try for menstrual migraines. (I only get my migraines the first day of, the last day of, and sometimes halfway between periods.) While it did get rid of my migraine, the pain got a lot worse before it went away. That was the one and only time I used this medication."

"I was given Zomig nasal spray as a test prescription from my doc. She said the nasal spray works really quickly and may be a good alternative to my Maxalt. I should have stuck with my instincts. After 10 years of migraines and numerous medications, Maxalt always works. I tried the spray, it did act fast. I felt better within a half hour! But now, four hours later, my migraine is back and worse than before :( I may try one more time, but so far I am not impressed."

"I've been dependent on Zomig for about 6 or 7 years for food-related migraines - every time my system rejects another food - the first was chocolate, and now it's grown to about 25 things. I am thinking onion powder is the newest... tyramine in onion powder? Or is it rebound? How long between doses of Zomig and a rebound migraine?"

"Acute migraine, sumatriptan, and Lyrica not helping after years of use. Zomig 5 mg spray given. Frequent urination, pressure on bladder constant (so unable to go out). Blood in urine? To question with doctor yet. Very heavy fatigue, just random fall asleep. Rapid heartbeat. Difficulty swallowing, hurt. Bit of sore throat further down throat. Short-lived chest pain traveled to chest bone left side when bedtime? Speech, foggy head, thinking worsened. Dizziness (was already experiencing). Still woke during night with bad head (so cannot use). But these are manageable because better than the migraine. Could it be possible to spray first dose and take second evening hour or two before bed instead of two hours after the initial? Terrible aftertaste."

"Normally, my migraines take a few hours to go from the inkling I'm getting one to full-blown vomiting and feeling like my body is turning inside out, with chills and sweating, etc. After taking this at the inkling stage, within minutes, I was throwing up, and it had become a full-blown migraine. It clearly ramped it up!"

"I have tried a countless number of remedies, and Zomig is the only thing that has worked for me. I do have a couple of side effects to mention: sensitive skin (pain to the touch), tingling in my extremities, achy joints and muscles, and excessive urination. Although these side effects don't happen every time I use it, Zomig has been a miracle for me. I have suffered migraines for 18 years. I can live with the side effects and only hope my migraines will go away with menopause like the doctors have told me."
