Zolmitriptan for Migraine "I haven't found any medication that helps with my migraines. Zomig caused me to experience a heat flash that lasted about an hour. Onset of neck stiffness not as bad as prior triptan medications used, but still limited activities. Stinging and increased sensitivity in the nose, mouth, and throat, similar to sinus pressure. Semi-painful. Glands sensitive to taste and make everything 'sour' reaction. Liquid felt in the nose and mouth for an hour or so. Bad aftertaste and dizziness. Had to lay down and take a nap, and side effects were still felt 24 hours later."

Zolmitriptan for Migraine "Acute migraine, sumatriptan, and Lyrica not helping after years of use. Zomig 5 mg spray given. Frequent urination, pressure on bladder constant (so unable to go out). Blood in urine? To question with doctor yet. Very heavy fatigue, just random fall asleep. Rapid heartbeat. Difficulty swallowing, hurt. Bit of sore throat further down throat. Short-lived chest pain traveled to chest bone left side when bedtime? Speech, foggy head, thinking worsened. Dizziness (was already experiencing). Still woke during night with bad head (so cannot use). But these are manageable because better than the migraine. Could it be possible to spray first dose and take second evening hour or two before bed instead of two hours after the initial? Terrible aftertaste."

Zolmitriptan for Migraine "My migraines appear hormonal related, premenopausal in my 40's. If taken at onset, Zomig is very effective against my migraines. If taken later, it is still effective but requires another dose within a few hours, as directed, to get the pain under control - HOWEVER if taken then, I've had the stiff neck and jaw thing. I do notice that my skin is sensitive to heat after I've taken Zomig, and my taste buds are sensitive to some flavors (excessive salivating). It does make me dizzy. I usually break a tablet in half (which I was just reading you're NOT supposed to do, but it doesn't say why), and if I catch the migraine fast enough, half is usually enough to deter it. I save the other half for later if the migraine feels like it is returning."

For Migraine "Zolmitriptan consistently works for me in stopping a migraine in its tracks, and most of the time, they don't recur, which is fantastic. As with all triptans, it can have some strange and what feel like scary side effects (chest pressure/tightness, muscle cramps and stiffness, dizziness, drowsiness, weird bodily sensations, euphoria, dysphoria, feelings of hot and cold skin), but they are usually transient and short-lived. I've also tried rizatriptan and sumatriptan. The effectiveness is about the same, but for me, zolmitriptan has the fewest of these side effects compared to those. Small price to pay for migraine relief I can count on every time. A low dose of 1.25mg or 2.5mg works for me. I also take an antidepressant (Viibryd) and have not experienced any problems or serious interactions."

For Migraine "On a positive note, this does stop the migraine headache within an hour (I took a 2.5 mg tablet as it wasn’t a mega migraine). However, the side effects weren’t great. I took this tablet at school because I had a migraine come on and laid down for about an hour in a dark room. Do not expect to be able to go back to school/work once you’ve taken one of these. I stood up to leave and go back to class and almost fell over with dizziness, not to mention nausea and needing to urinate 3 times within 30 mins. Nonetheless, I walked down a corridor to tell the nurse I was going back to class and everything was loud, and I couldn’t think straight, as well as muscle stiffness. The nurse started speaking to me, but I just couldn’t really understand her. Another 30 mins and the confusion + sensitivity to sound does decrease, but it’s now the next day and I still have nausea and a stiff neck. I suppose you just have to decide whether the migraine or the side effects are worse."

Zolmitriptan for Migraine "This pill is a miracle. Yes, I suffer every side effect everyone else listed, and it's worth it. This pill works for me in 20 minutes, and it works every time. I can, 6 hours into the migraine, and poof, it's gone. As with most: taste sensitive, sore muscles, still muscles, mild dizziness. It messes with my sleep schedule, and I notice a huge increase in heart rate at the gym the next day. All that might seem like it's debilitating, but I am telling you it's so much better than the alternative, and other medications fail me entirely. Please try this medication if others are failing you because this stuff is livable."

Zolmitriptan for Migraine "The pain completely subsided after about an hour and a half, but I'm not sure the side effects were worth it... dizziness, drowsiness, unable to speak, numbness. Unsure if I would take again."

Zolmitriptan for Migraine "Unfortunately, I had a very bad reaction to Zomig, including shortness of breath and severe dizziness. This might not be the case for everyone."

Zolmitriptan for Migraine "I would just like to say it is very important to know what other medications you are taking with this medicine. It can have very bad side effects. I only took this medicine 2 times when I had a very bad interaction. It was before they made it known not to mix an antidepressant with it, and it took years to find out what really had happened other than a drug interaction. I was on Paxil at the time. I wound up going to the hospital for them to tell me that everything was fine, but it took about a week before I was feeling normal. My heartbeat was very rapid, I was delusional and uncoordinated. It felt like my insides were burning from the inside out, but yet I felt a constant chill. I am not saying not to take this drug, but be careful."
