Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I am a 58-year-old woman, and yesterday afternoon I had my Reclast intravenous procedure done for the first time. I drank plenty of water (64 oz) the day before, and drank more water (32 oz) the morning of. I took two (2) Extra Strength Tylenol one hour prior to the procedure. The nurse first administered the saline and then the Zoledronic Acid (Reclast). I was also given juice to drink during this time. The whole process took about 40 minutes. I continued to drink plenty of liquids the rest of the day and took two (2) more Extra Strength Tylenol 4 hours later. So far, I have only felt a little tired and slightly achy. I am continuing to drink plenty of water as recommended, and hopefully all is good from here out!"

Zoledronic acid for Prevention of Osteoporosis "I am writing a positive review for Reclast. I have osteopenia and had breast cancer in 2021, for which I now take Letrozole that wears on my bones. I have no other health issues. I had my first infusion on Monday, Feb 28th. I drank plenty of fluids on Sunday and Monday and added Tylenol. After the infusion, I was a little tired and got some rest. I returned to work on Tuesday. My eyes began to feel a little different, but the nurse instructed me to take Claritin if the Ibuprofen did not help. I did have tingling in my fingers for a few minutes, but it went away. I was also exhausted and got some more rest. On Day 3, Wednesday, I was moving a little slow in the morning, took my normal midday walk, and by the afternoon I was back to normal. No other side effects thus far. I pray my bone density increases when I have the bone scan again in 2024."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "For four weeks, I had little to no appetite and periods of tiredness. For the first 3 weeks, I was also in a stupor, tired, and weak every day, with nausea daily. Along with these symptoms, for the first 2 weeks, I had on and off fever, chills, headache, no energy, sweats at night. I felt like I was drugged and was weak, unstable, and sick. I would never, never take Zometa again, and I do NOT recommend it."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "Had an infusion of Aclasta 10 days ago. Had been diagnosed with a compression fracture of the spine a week prior. I wasn't really advised of adverse reactions and only told I would benefit due to a very low bone score. Had hyperparathyroidism which caused the osteoporosis. After Aclasta, I had side effects of a severe dizzy spell on day 2 and could not stand up, it lasted for two days. I also had nausea and a mild headache. After one week, severe pain in both wrists, could not hold anything, lasted for three days. I have pain in my jaw and eyelids. It is mild but constant. Hope all will come right shortly. I feel tired and slightly achy every day. Hope benefits outweigh side effects."

Zoledronic acid for Prevention of Osteoporosis "I had my first and only Reclast infusion 23 days ago. About 9 hours after the infusion, I started feeling ill, I had terrible chills, shaking violently for two hours. At 2:00 a.m., I went to the ER with a fever of 102.4 and pain everywhere. I had heart surgery to repair my mitral valve 2 1/2 years ago and have been taking an arrhythmia drug for 2 years, and I’ve been fine. Since the infusion, I am tired, I have a fib and bigeminy several times a day, chest pain, and unbearable calf pain. This drug has ruined my health and my life. Do not take it."

Zoledronic acid for Hypercalcemia of Malignancy "My oncologist ordered this as a bone treatment. I was doing just fine without it. Now my legs are in pain, and I'm tired most of the time. I will NEVER take this crap again. It's a typical poison that America's corrupt pharmaceutical industry pushes on people. There are other, safer ways to get your damaged bones to absorb calcium. I have nothing but the most profound contempt for the makers of this product."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "Had an Aclasta infusion in June 2018, and I am still having adverse reactions. These are severe shivers, sweats, extreme tiredness, severe itching, loss of appetite, and nausea. Immediately after the infusion, I was unable to get out of bed for three days and had severe backaches. I have read that it can take up to 24 months to get it out of your system. I have gone past that time frame and am still suffering. I am so over it and will NEVER EVER have another infusion."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I had the Reclast infusion less than 1 week ago. First day seemed fine until the evening, then a headache started. Ended up in bed for 2 days due to exhaustion, body aches, fever, and a severe headache. 3rd day, the pain in my thumbs started, barely able to use my hands. 4th day, I experienced neck pain, and I'm almost afraid of what else might come up. I'm debating whether or not I'll take this again next year. I'm unable to do my normal exercise and stretching due to joint pain."

Zoledronic acid for Hypercalcemia of Malignancy "I agree with other reviewers, you will experience all side effects listed. I have had 7 infusions (1 monthly) for 1 year. After infusion, I’m fine for a day. Usually, 1-2 weeks after, I will be extremely tired, with bloating and burning skin on abdomen. Side effects vary monthly."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "Received 1st dose on Monday at 9:30 a.m. Felt okay, a bit tired in the afternoon. However, at around 9:00 p.m., pains in my sternum started. I took Panadol as advised, went to bed. By midnight, I was shivering and shaking and ached all over, then intense pain set in, in my sternum and left breast and arm. I could hardly breathe and seated, coughing. Temperature rose to 40 and severe sweats. More Panadol, which did nothing. Pain worsened and could hardly walk. In the morning, I phoned the lady who administered Aclasta, who said it was all normal and could subside in a day or two. Phoned my doctor, who sent me straight to the hospital, where I spent the next 12 hours on pain relief, a drip, and tests for suspected blood clots, thankfully none. I was kept until my temperature dropped and my blood pressure (190/98) returned to its usual 130/75. Day 3, sternum pain has lessened to bearable, right arm still very painful, as is my back. Very tired and nauseous. I wish I had read these reviews."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I had a 15-minute infusion 5 days ago. For about 16 hours, I felt fine. The following afternoon, I began to feel a headache, tiredness, and generally felt ill. Tried sleeping it off. The next afternoon, my chest felt sore, I had severe pain, like indigestion, for most of the night. Day three, my joints have swollen and I have arthritic symptoms, my wrists are extremely painful, it hurts to even press the toilet button. I still have headaches. I regret having Aclasta. I am not prepared to recommend it at this stage."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "Had my first infusion Nov 15, 2019. I started getting the flu-like symptoms about 8 hours later. Thought it was the end of me. I shook for 2 days with chills. Couldn’t pick my arm up to get the Tylenol off my nightstand. 5 hours later, I finally got them and every blanket I owned. It hurt so much. Then started with throwing up and diarrhea. It’s been 4 days, and I’m still in bed, beyond tired. Not sure how to rate the medicine because it hasn’t started to work yet. But the side effects are really bad. Make sure you have lots of water, Gatorade, and Tylenol or pain meds, you’ll need them."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "Had my infusion on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020. Was just tired and weak at first, then in the middle of the night, I had the most excruciating pain in my bones all night until morning. Doctor then gave me tramadol, which helped the pain, but the next day I vomited all day long. It’s been 4 days, and I’m nauseous, my head still hurts, have no strength to get out of bed or eat much."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I tried oral biphosphonate and experienced severe bone pain, nausea, and reflux. My doctor suggested Reclast. I had the infusion and within 6 hours experienced nausea and tiredness. I had taken the recommended Tylenol before and after. I went to bed and began to experience waves of severe rib pain from my back to front and vomiting. It was many times worse than childbirth. Luckily, I had an opiate pain reliever. That helped a lot. The feeling bad lasted for about 5 days, but the reflux stayed. Never again will I take this drug!!"

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "After reading the horrible side effects people were having, I was apprehensive about getting the infusion. I was fine after mine. I felt tired, but that’s nothing new. I’m 70 and work full time and stand 6-8 hrs a day, 40 hrs a week. I’ve been fine, and so happy I got the infusion. I am so sorry for people who had horrible side effects. It’s horrible you are suffering."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I was diagnosed with osteoporosis due to my gynecologist screwing up and not putting me on hormone replacement therapy after a total hysterectomy at age 38. I am now 57, and after this Reclast bone infusion, I have never felt worse in my life. It has been four months since my infusion. I have side effects of vomiting almost every day, acid reflux disease, bone and muscle pain, migraines, lethargy, no libido, hair falling out, jaw pain so bad that I went to a dentist, and he said he was afraid my jaw was necrotic. The following week, the pain was so intense that it dropped me to my knees. I went to urgent care, and they made me get a CT scan. I now have arthritis in my jaw, TMJ, and can barely eat because of teeth feeling like they’re going to fall out. And I’ve been diagnosed with celiac disease. Mind you, I never had any of this before the infusion. I feel terrible! I’m so angry that my doctor never told me about these terrible side effects."

For Osteoporosis "I had a zoledronic acid infusion in January and did well with no side effects at the time. About a month later, I started having diarrhea, constipation, frequent urination, pain in my hand and fingers, sleeplessness, blurred vision, and a constant buzzing noise in my head. I had a vision test, and my vision had drastically changed. I got new glasses, and my vision continues to deteriorate and remains blurry. I had to see a urologist because of the frequency of urination. I saw an orthopedic surgeon who is going to operate on my hand. I am scheduled to see an ENT and neurologist about the constant buzzing noise in my head. I have never been so tired or felt so bad. I do not want to have any more infusions."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "My doctor told me this medication provides quick and effective treatment over other options. She said I'll only experience flu-like symptoms for 2-3 days and to take Panadol to relieve these side effects. I was completely sold on the idea. After the infusion, I felt feverish and had a headache in the evening. Low-grade fever and headache lasted for about 4 days. In addition, I had nausea, poor appetite, lethargy, and heartburn from the 5th day after the injection. All the symptoms only cleared up after 10 days post-infusion. I swear this was the first and last injection."

For Osteoporosis "I had zoledronic infusion March 19, and oh my days, I felt awful for three days... chills, shaking, sickness, lethargic, and then a month later started having problems with my tongue being dry, patchy, and sore, then problems started with my teeth. I wish to God I had never had zoledronic. One thing is for sure, I will not be attending the next appointment in March 2020."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "Had Reclast infusion 2/16/2022. No instructions re drinking water or taking Tylenol. 2/25/22 taken to ER. Dizzy, dehydrated, fever, disoriented, exhausted. Stayed in hospital 3 weeks. Family didn’t understand what happened to me. Lots of tests. Almost died. Couldn’t eat. Lost 20 lbs. Slowly, some better, but still dizzy & disoriented almost 5 months later. Am 75 years old. Life messed up. Won’t take again. I put off taking this drug for 5 years. I had a hip fracture 4 months prior, so I thought no choice. Big mistake! Don’t do it. Listen to your intuition."

For Osteoporosis "I had my first infusion last year, end of October '19. Within a few hours, the flu-like symptoms appeared, terrible aches and pains, and tiredness. I felt dreadful for 3 days. This was followed by 6 weeks of chronic fatigue (resting/sleeping 3-4 times a day) and awful, awful pain in muscles. The chronic fatigue lifted, though I still get much more tired than I used to. The worst thing of all is that still, after all this time, I have constant, deep muscle pain, which has SO impacted my life and my mental health. I am not sure that I ever want to go through this again!"

Zoledronic acid for Prevention of Osteoporosis "When suggesting Reclast, my APRN said I may feel flu-like for 3-4 days. She strongly encouraged adherence to keeping hydrated and using Tylenol. I had my infusion Friday afternoon with no issues. I continued hydrating and taking Tylenol every 6 hours as instructed. I was fine on Friday but began feeling fatigued Saturday morning. This got progressively worse during the day. I moved slowly and had difficulty staying awake. By night, I had body chills. I had some pain in the area of my bladder, and several of my teeth hurt. I took Tylenol before bed and woke on Sunday feeling better, no chills, no tooth pain. I still felt tired and had some bladder discomfort. I actually slept from 1 to 2:30 pm (I never sleep during the day). I woke up feeling better and even met a friend for dinner out. Today is Monday, and I am feeling pretty normal. Maybe the best thing to do is realize you are going to feel flu-like for a few days, plan to lay low, sleep as needed, hydrate, and take your Tylenol."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I am 71 years old with a Dex of -2.9. I just got my 1st Reclast infusion this past Thursday (Aug 13, 2020). I was petrified walking in the door. I made sure I followed all the prep instructions they gave me. I drank more water than normal, and took Calcium with D3 (x2 times a day) 1 week prior. 2 days before, I started taking extra-strength pain reliever (2) once a day. The day of infusion, I took 2 pain pills 2 hours prior, and drank a lot of water (64 oz). These 2 things I believe are the key (water and pain pills). The infusion was simple and easy. After, I felt no pain or confusion. It is now Sunday, 3 days later and I feel exactly as I did on the first day. I have drunk a total of about 60 oz of water a day, and taken the maximum dosage of pain relievers a day for the first 2 days. They say we might feel flu-like symptoms for a few days, I only feel a little tired. No fever either. I wish you the best."
