Zoledronic acid for Prevention of Osteoporosis "When suggesting Reclast, my APRN said I may feel flu-like for 3-4 days. She strongly encouraged adherence to keeping hydrated and using Tylenol. I had my infusion Friday afternoon with no issues. I continued hydrating and taking Tylenol every 6 hours as instructed. I was fine on Friday but began feeling fatigued Saturday morning. This got progressively worse during the day. I moved slowly and had difficulty staying awake. By night, I had body chills. I had some pain in the area of my bladder, and several of my teeth hurt. I took Tylenol before bed and woke on Sunday feeling better, no chills, no tooth pain. I still felt tired and had some bladder discomfort. I actually slept from 1 to 2:30 pm (I never sleep during the day). I woke up feeling better and even met a friend for dinner out. Today is Monday, and I am feeling pretty normal. Maybe the best thing to do is realize you are going to feel flu-like for a few days, plan to lay low, sleep as needed, hydrate, and take your Tylenol."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I had my Reclast infusion on 10-19-21 and will say I was extremely nervous from all the negative reviews. However, my experience wasn’t bad at all. I’m on my 4th day after and feel great. I did, however, after 12 hours, develop fever, chills, body aches, headache, but they weren’t that bad. Very tolerable. The worst was the chills and severe night sweats on the second night. Felt a little tired and headache on the 3rd day, but great after. My Dexa scan was -2.4. I will get another bone density test and pray it’s improved. I will definitely do it again. Trust my doctors."

For Osteoporosis "I just had my second infusion. The first, a year ago, was bad. I stayed in bed for nearly six days, sick as if with the flu. Body pains, stomach pains, and a general sick feeling of extreme tiredness. After seven days, I had a couple of more days. Now, I just had my second infusion a year later. The first day was okay, but the second day knocked me down with pain and fever. The third day was okay, but I had body pains and extreme tiredness. This is still continuing, with some nausea, headaches, and tiredness, I just feel sick ten days later. Very unhappy. I don't know anything about its effectiveness. The yearly scan actually got worse. I was taking Prolia before for six years, and the scans were getting better, moved from -2.5 to -1.1. Now, one year on this medication, and I am at -2."

Zoledronic acid for Osteoporosis "I had my Reclast yesterday. After reading all the negative reviews, I was really nervous. I hydrated for three days prior, took 2 Tylenol 2 hrs before with two glasses of water. The infusion went fine. Today I feel a little beat up and tired. No other side effects as yet. I will hydrate for the next few days and take Tylenol as needed. I’m hoping the benefits far outweigh the risks."

For Osteoporosis "Had zoledronic acid infusion, and straight away, my blood pressure was so high I went straight into emergency at the hospital. Three weeks later, unsteady and tired, skin burning, doc sent cream but not helping. Struggling to do anything, just want to go to sleep and not wake up. Not having again."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "I hurt terribly the first few days after the infusion. The worst was my neck. My whole body hurt, but I couldn't turn my head much at all. Six weeks later it is still a problem on and off. (I take 60 mg codeine in Tylenol for the pain. (T4's) Exhaustion, fatigue, and a recurrence of a severe depressive episode really scared me. It's been five or six weeks since my first infusion. After successful small breast tumor removal and chemo, I was feeling better. No bone scan was done before starting this. I think one should have been done. I am not thinking clearly, needing to stop and think about what I am doing. Seriously thinking of asking to discontinue it. I am 62, unemployed with little support. This medication makes work impossible. No nausea. Diarrhea/constipation, yes. Twitching, a bit of insomnia, numb/tingling hand fingers and thumb. Hip pain. Shaky body and hands. Get a bone scan before starting treatment, otherwise, what is the point? Next appointment in six weeks."

For Prevention of Osteoporosis "On the afternoon of Friday the 24th, I received my first infusion. I have osteopenia, and I am a cancer survivor. I started taking acetaminophen, Gatorade, and water. When I woke up on Saturday, I had a lot of vertigo. The first 24 hours after the infusion, I only had a slight fever and warmth inside my body. After 24 hours, sporadic discomfort began in the bones, such as the knees and arms, moderate tiredness, and headache. On Sunday morning, the strong symptoms of chills began, pain in the bones of the legs, spine, ribs, and arms. I also had very real nightmares. The pains in the early hours of Sunday would go away and come back stronger. Then, I had a strong pain in the bones of my chest, as if they were opening my chest with their hands, for a few seconds, twice-a terrifying and very painful experience. The extreme tiredness continues, my eyes are a little red, very dry, and I have very deep circles under my eyes. Next year, I will not use this infusion again, it has been horrible pain. HORRIBLE."

Zoledronic acid "I have taken Zometa infusions for 7 months. I was extremely tired to the point I didn't want to get out of bed, sleeping more than I ever had, only being awake at most 5 hours a day, lost my appetite, lost weight, muscle pain, and just quality of life was so that I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything. I have not done infusions since January because I was having issues with my mouth. Hurt to wear my partial. After reading about the downside of Zometa, I do not want to continue taking it. Going to ask my doctor for a different treatment. I have also noticed after not taking the infusions, I sleep less, awake, and feel so much better. Was getting 4 mg once a month. This drug scares me."

For Osteoporosis "My first infusion for osteoporosis was on a Monday. It went well, and I felt normal the rest of the day. I drank 5 glasses of water to remain hydrated. Tuesday morning I felt weak and tired, yet I still carried through the day. I walked 2 miles in the afternoon and another 2 miles in the evening. My feet felt achy, and my joints felt stiff all day. Every now and then, a quick shot of bone pain. I was exhausted by the evening and took a hot shower. I began feeling feverish, and my temp was 99.5, so I took 650 mg Tylenol and went to bed. I woke up at 3:30 am Wednesday, sweaty and used the restroom to void. I was feeling weak, nauseous, and faint. I have a history of vasovagal syncope and knew it was coming on. I laid flat on the floor supine. The episode passed, and I went back to bed. I woke up at 8:15 am and had another bout of nausea and feeling faint; again, laid flat on the floor, and it passed. Wednesday I felt tired and weak; yet continued to function."
