"Horrible experience. First infusion and after this terrible pain, I'm not sure I would do this again. Extreme joint and muscle pain. This is my third day after treatment and the pain just moves from one place to another. I doubt that I would do this again. I want my life back."

"My first IV treatment was given on a Friday morning. By that night, I was running a fever of 103. I had 4 heavy blankets piled on me. I took Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but nothing brought my fever down below 101. I was shaking to my bones. Then, I started feeling pain in every bone of my body. The pain was worst in my back and shoulders. Even on my fourth day, my shoulders and back are still very painful. All I was told about Reclast was to drink a lot of water and take Tylenol as needed. I even told my husband that he might have to bring me to the emergency room because I was deathly ill. I wish I would have read these comments before I was given this therapy. I felt like every bone in my body was being attacked by this drug. Thankfully, I'm done for a year."

"Had my infusion on Wednesday, today is Sunday. Absolutely no side effects. I was so scared because of the bad reviews, I almost canceled. Honestly, I thought of one review that said, 'I take it so I don't break it!' I did drink tons of water before and after, and Tylenol before and after. I honestly feel a bit safer now, not so scared."

"I am 41, with Crohn's disease causing my lack of vitamin absorption. I had my monthly Entyvio infusion, and right after my first Reclast infusion just yesterday. I was just fine until about 5 hours after when I started having diarrhea. It later turned into severe watery diarrhea shooting out into my ostomy, chills, sweating, fever, aches, and weakness. I was told it may happen but was hoping not to me. If this helps me, a few days of this is worth it, and I will do it again. Like in Harry Potter, 'growing bones is a nasty business!' Lol"

"I received a Reclast infusion on 1/10/2019. Within 6 hours post-infusion, I started to have elbow pain, and within 12 hours post-infusion, pretty deep bone pain in the sternum, along with flu symptoms. Fevers spiked to 102 at times for over 48 hours. All joints were painful. On days 3 and 4 post-infusion, severe pain in ankles and feet - unable to get out of bed independently, but once I was moving around, things got easier. While the side effects may sound bad (and they were at times), if this increases bone density, then I have no problem sacrificing a week or two of side effects."

"Had my first infusion with Reclast yesterday. I was very nervous after reading the reviews, but some positive ones mentioned not only taking Tylenol, but also an allergy pill right before. After getting permission from the doctor, I followed suit. Week before I took 2 calciums per day and drank lots of water, no alcohol. I have been taking 2,000 mg of D3 daily for the last year, hoping it would prevent needing the Reclast, but not so. Day of had a full breakfast and drank about 40 ounces of water. 30 minutes before, I took 2 Tylenol at 11 AM, 1 Zyrtec at 11:20, then off to appointment. I had a glass of water next to me during the procedure. They ran saline through the IV for about 10 to 15 minutes before they added the Reclast. Ran Reclast for about 35 minutes, then 10 minutes more of saline. When I got home, I was tired, but hungry so had soup for lunch, then took a nap for 3 hours. Taking 1 Tylenol every 6 hours. No pain, no fever."

"My first infusion of Reclast was September 2018. I had very minor side effects that lasted a few days. On 8/12/2019, I had my second Dexa scan, and my bone density in my spine has increased from 0% to 4%. I fractured my left femur in January 2018, so the left leg was scanned the first time yesterday, and no surprise, I have osteoporosis in my left leg, as well as my right femur. I'm still at high risk for a fracture. I've been going to the gym and taking many supplements to increase bone density. Not as much gain as I was hoping to see. I may try something else. I'm online searching today. I wish everyone good luck! I'm 62 1/2. God bless."

"Reclast IV last week, and I had side effects of sore throat, chills, headache, fever, severe bone, joint, and muscle pain, in bed for the past 8 days. I originally was going to cancel the IV after reading all the side effects, but the nurse talked me into it. Never again! I can’t really rate the drug as it’s only been a week."

"I’m 60 and have been on multiple osteoporosis meds for 10 years. Had 4 vertebrae compression fractures and a Dexa of -4.1. Just finished 2 years of daily injection of Tymlos (no side effects). I had a Reclast infusion 3 days ago, and so far, so good. I had a little gas and diarrhea for one day (could have been unrelated), but no other symptoms. No one even warned me to hydrate, and I was fine."

"I’ve had the Reclast infusion two times now. I’m 68, and my osteoporosis is not severe and only in a couple of areas. I haven’t experienced any side effects at all. No improved energy either, as some report. But my doctor says my bone density has improved following another test. So, I’ll likely continue with what he recommends."

"Just had it, and I was flat on my back for two days, and I am a very active, gym-going person. Extreme pains in some joints, fever, no appetite. Slept for two days. Today is the third day, and I am feeling better."

"It has been 3 weeks today (Feb 17th) that I had my infusion, and I am still experiencing upper respiratory headache and some blurred vision, also fatigue in the afternoon. My appetite is starting to come back, but you’re right, some foods don’t taste the same. Still have the occasional pain in my legs, not as bad, hopefully getting better. I’ve started walking again, made it 2 miles today, so that’s a positive."

"I am 58 with osteoporosis. Knowing my mother experienced severe gastro issues with Fosamax, my doctor recommended Reclast. I was not told to drink water prior, so I only had a small bottle of water with me. Within 6 hours, I had COVID-like symptoms with a 101.4 fever and very achy muscles and bones. I also had indigestion, and my chest felt like an elephant was on it. I took Advil every 4-6 hours, which helped. This lasted a good 50+ hours and then turned into fatigue for another 1-2 days. Hopefully, this will have been worth it."

"My first Reclast was last January after I had a round of radiation treatment from DCIS breast cancer. Oh, I am cured, dears. I had only minor reactions... a little fluish for about 12 hours and then freedom! I feel great, and I am truly looking forward to this cancer checkup and another infusion. Gles Falls Hospital, the best for cancer recovery!"

"Two days after injection, I have severe lower back pain, unable to get out of bed without assistance, couldn't bend over, very painful on a scale of 1 to 10, my pain level a 7. One week later, severe swelling of left hand fingers, very painful. Morning headaches, very uncommon for me."

"I received my first injection mid-March this year. I have had no unpleasant side effects since. I am hoping this drug will help me, and my next DEXA scan will be better than what I saw in December 2023. I was on Fosamax for two years previously, and very little change to my bone density. I am 75, and my last 2 DEXA scans showed osteoporosis."

"I had my first Reclast infusion two weeks ago, and I am suffering from back pain, chest pain, and a lot of gas. I am hoping it will go away in time. I almost went to the hospital, as I thought I was having a heart attack. I would use this medication again if the side effects are temporary and it helps my osteoporosis. I'm praying these side effects are not long-term. I do not know yet if this is helping or not, should know in about a year."

"I am a 56-year-old female with sudden onset of osteoporosis, meaning I had no previous knowledge I even had osteoporosis until I obtained a total of 6 disc compression fractures over 2 and 1/2 months in 2022. The head of the endocrinology department told me to get Reclast, told me I have nothing to worry about, so I did so. No one, including this doctor, gave me any info as to how to prepare properly, nor did anyone state side effects. Because I am not normally ill, it did not occur to me to Google Reclast or that there could be a potential problem. Oh my God, what a nightmare! Within 6 hours, I had severe bone pain, a screaming headache, rolling cramps from my toes to the top of my head non-stop for 2 full days, and I became instantly so weak I couldn't lift my arm to cover myself with a blanket. When I thought the worst was over, suddenly I was hit with severe flu-like symptoms, chills, vomiting, all for 8 days. I literally felt like I was dying. Will NEVER do it again. The doctor thinks I'm crazy. She should be sued for malpractice!"

"Had my first Reclast Nov. 2020 at 75 years old. The rheumatologist I saw said nothing about side effects. Never told me to prep, i.e., drink lots of water, etc. He didn't tell me the name of the drug, and I didn't ask, which was my fault. Also, I didn't ask about side effects. The only reason I know it was Reclast is because the technician showed me the box. That night I woke with chills and terrible pain. I thought I had COVID. When I checked the side effects of Reclast (something I should have done before I had this poison put in my system), I saw chills and aches were side effects, along with insomnia. I suffer from recurring bouts of insomnia. Had I known that side effect alone, I wouldn't have gotten the poison. I barely slept for 3 days. The muscle aches lasted over 2 weeks. Now, months later, I can't sleep without taking Trazodone. Never, ever will I get this again."

"After reading the horrible side effects people were having, I was apprehensive about getting the infusion. I was fine after mine. I felt tired, but that’s nothing new. I’m 70 and work full time and stand 6-8 hrs a day, 40 hrs a week. I’ve been fine, and so happy I got the infusion. I am so sorry for people who had horrible side effects. It’s horrible you are suffering."

"I drank water before the treatment as I was told to do. I had the treatment. However, for weeks, I didn't have to get up and use the bathroom at night. It really concerns me, and my doctor says it's time for another treatment. I'm afraid it might really affect my kidneys, and I'm debating whether to get the Reclast again. I have to answer whether I would advise getting the drug, but I don't know."

"I was diagnosed with osteoporosis due to my gynecologist screwing up and not putting me on hormone replacement therapy after a total hysterectomy at age 38. I am now 57, and after this Reclast bone infusion, I have never felt worse in my life. It has been four months since my infusion. I have side effects of vomiting almost every day, acid reflux disease, bone and muscle pain, migraines, lethargy, no libido, hair falling out, jaw pain so bad that I went to a dentist, and he said he was afraid my jaw was necrotic. The following week, the pain was so intense that it dropped me to my knees. I went to urgent care, and they made me get a CT scan. I now have arthritis in my jaw, TMJ, and can barely eat because of teeth feeling like they’re going to fall out. And I’ve been diagnosed with celiac disease. Mind you, I never had any of this before the infusion. I feel terrible! I’m so angry that my doctor never told me about these terrible side effects."

"I am 75, and due to fears about side effects, I canceled my Reclast infusion three times! I think I drove my endocrinologist nuts! But I then decided I had no choice as I have osteo in my spine and didn’t want to end up hunched over with all the breathing and digestive problems that entails and, of course, the susceptibility to fractures. I am now 24 hours after the infusion and feeling totally fine. Infusion was on a Wednesday, I started taking Tylenol and drinking gallons of water over the weekend before. They also gave the med over 30 minutes instead of the usual 15, with 30 minutes of hydration before and after. I continue to drink water and take Tylenol. So far, so good. Just want to add my experience to encourage others. I know I couldn’t address this with only diet and exercise, so the risk was well worth it!"

"I would never get it again. I had previously had 3 screws put in my hip to repair a crack, and I received physical therapy and was about 90% back to walking normally. The day after I received the injection, my hip hurt so badly that I couldn't even walk on it. It's been over 3 months since I received the injection, and my hip is still in a lot of pain, which makes me walk with a limp now."

"I am 63 years of age. I received my first round of Reclast last November and never had 1 single issue. I didn't even know to consider taking pain meds beforehand. I never knew of or heard of the horror stories associated with! I guess I should count my blessings. Sometimes, I believe the less you dwell on all the side effects, the better your body receives a drug. I think much of it has to do with positive vibes. ALL drugs, including the ones some women take to avoid Reclast side effects, can cause side effects! Even baby aspirin can cause them in some people. I recommend it if your doctor, whom you have grown to trust, says it would be beneficial. Wish me luck on my upcoming dexo!"
