For High Blood Pressure "I have tried several different blood pressure meds. Valsartan gave me the worst side effects: dizziness, shakiness, nausea, headaches, sore muscles, and extreme fatigue! I would not recommend this drug to anyone. Actually raised my blood pressure."

Valsartan for High Blood Pressure "Diovan effectively controlled my high blood pressure for 2 years. Then suddenly I developed low potassium levels; fluctuating blood pressure, rapid pulse, ringing in the ears, nausea and deep tissue pain with chronic inflammation. The dose was dropped by 1/2. Sleep apnea began. It took three months- many-ER visits, two hospitalizations and cardiac monitoring to figure out what my blood pressure was actually doing. Eventually it took only 1/4 of the dose of the medication to 'control' my pressure without causing side effects. The onset of these symptoms without doctors recognizing them created concern for me about this medication. I recommend regular monitoring of your own blood pressure."

For High Blood Pressure "I'm 51 and have been using Diovan HCT 80-12.5 for 5 months to control high blood pressure. The medication did work to regulate my blood pressure, keeping it in the 120s/80s. I started experiencing painful stiffness in my neck and shoulders, nausea. I decided to wean myself off the meds, and to do this, I knew I had to change my diet and exercise more. The first thing to go was soda! I also started eating raw garlic (4 cloves) daily (garlic helps to lower blood pressure along with other awesome benefits). I only drink lemon water and 8 ounces of V8 low sodium veggie juice daily-plenty of fruit and veggies daily (avocado, bananas, oranges, blackberries, spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, almonds). I selected these to provide nutrients needed. Five weeks in, and blood pressure has maintained! I feel fabulous, and I'm down to 1 tablet a week."

For High Blood Pressure "I asked for an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) because I didn't want the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, as they can cause a cough. I was on a low dose of valsartan (40 mg) to start. Almost immediately, I experienced daily diarrhea. It was bad enough that it was difficult to get out of the house in the morning. I also frequently felt nauseous and noticed hair loss and dry mouth. After 2 months of this, I told my doc I was not taking it anymore. The symptoms disappeared within 2 days of discontinuation."

Valsartan for High Blood Pressure "Diovan 80 mg was prescribed to me. It did nothing for my blood pressure. I started on 160 mg/12.5, this increased my BP from 140/90 to 160/107 and gave me serious side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, etc. My sister takes this medicine without any problems."

For High Blood Pressure "I took valsartan for 10 days. First couple of days were ok. Then I developed jitteriness, uncontrolled shaking, chest pain, palpitations, headache, burning in stomach, nausea, heavy crawly feeling in my legs, severe muscle weakness, dizziness, and cold sweats. My blood pressure got really low: 90/69, pulse 105. I called my doctor, and he said those weren't side effects. I looked on the insert, and they were all there. I quit taking it two days ago and am starting to feel better."

For High Blood Pressure "My doctor gave me valsartan to take. I am 58, female, taking atenolol for 18 years, 50 mg. I took my BP this morning before meds, and it was 150 over 86. I then took the valsartan, started to feel nauseous and my throat tightening. My BP then shot up to 190 over 123, and I was frightened. Clearly not a medicine for me. Going back to lisinopril, which has some side effects, but BP is great with it."

For High Blood Pressure "I started on lisinopril and was sick all the time. Awful cough, nausea, and agitation took for a month. New Dr. switched me to valsartan, and I feel fantastic. The lisinopril cough seems to be almost gone, and I haven't felt nauseous one time. Very happy."

Valsartan for High Blood Pressure "I found that there are too many side effects with this medicine. The worst was numbing of my face, also, I had nausea and vomiting, which caused dehydration. I only took it for 2 weeks."
