For Insomnia "I experienced insomnia because of bad anxiety recently. I started taking Cipralex for my anxiety, the anxiety got better, but the insomnia got worse. My doctor prescribed 25-50 mg trazodone as needed, but that wasn’t enough for me. The first few nights it took me hours to fall asleep. I would take 50 mg, wait 2 hours, and then take another 50 mg and finally fall asleep. That went on for 4 nights before my doctor said I should just take the 100 mg right away, and that worked well. I’m still waking up about 4 hours after falling asleep, and then I take another 25 mg, and I’m out till morning with not too much drowsiness. I did have dry mouth, dizziness, and a stuffed nose the first night, but nothing after that. I do have vivid dreams, but I’ve always had them, so it’s nothing new or scary for me. Overall, happy with it so far, but it can be tricky finding the right dosage in my experience."

For Insomnia "My physician put me on a 50 mg dose of Trazodone for insomnia two weeks ago. I am already weaning myself off the drug by stepping down to 25 mg for a few days. As a sleep medicine, it has a modest benefit, and after taking it for three days, I fell into a light sleep for a few hours. However, the side effects are quite disagreeable, bearing a resemblance to early-mid stage dementia. Dizziness, lack of muscle coordination, difficulty following what would otherwise be routine or rote processes, waves of mental fog, daytime sleepiness, muscle weakness, and sudden sharp pains in my head. These are just my symptoms: short-term memory loss, aphasia (losing words and being unable to follow a train of thought)."

For Insomnia "I remembered back in April I was prescribed this drug to help with my insomnia, so I decided to take this pill 7/24/21. It worked, BUT I had the worst side effects. I woke up with a pounding migraine, blurry vision, and dizziness. My migraine didn’t go away for hours, and I slept all day 7/25/21. Because I slept all day yesterday, I didn’t get ANY sleep today 7/26/21. I’ve been up since 7 pm 7/25/21 and haven’t gone back to sleep. I’ve been up 14 hours straight, and I’m mentally exhausted but not physically. I’ll never take this drug again. The crazy part, when I took it back in April, I didn’t have the side effects I had recently. The only side effect I had back in April was anxiety, my heart rate was fast, no migraine, no dizziness, no blurry vision. I stopped taking it because of the increased heart rate. Maybe my dosage was too high, it was 100 mg, but yeah, never again will I take this medication."

For Depression "I took this medicine for the first time last night, and I will never take it again. My doctor told me to take half of the 100 mg before bed. It knocked me out for 14 hours. I woke up and felt in a daze, I was unsteady on my feet. I had the worst migraine of my life to the point where I couldn't get out of bed. I felt terribly nauseous. I ended up calling out of work."

For Depression "I took 25 mg of Trazodone for the first time less than 24 hours ago, and wow, this sucks. Honestly, it feels like a rough hangover the next day. Within an hour of taking it before bed, my muscles were twitching and my heart rate was around 90 bpm just laying in bed. I woke up groggy, dizzy, and nauseous, and my muscles felt all weak and messed up - I fell back in bed just standing up. Throughout the day, the twitches have gone away, but the headache is rough and the nausea is that constant almost-going-to-throw-up nausea. I was prescribed to take Trazodone along with 200 mg Bupropion XR, so I’m not sure how much of this could be drug interactions or minor serotonin syndrome. Anyways, I can’t find an antidepressant that works, but I would recommend starting elsewhere and taking Trazodone as a last resort."

For Insomnia "First night, I endured restless legs syndrome for hours after taking trazodone. It did not help my mind to calm, so I could sleep. However, I took it soon after my usual nighttime meds, so maybe that was the cause. I also had the expected dizziness. Second night, I put more time between nighttime meds and trazodone. Two hours after taking it, my body was calm, but my mind still raced. I did finally sleep a couple of hours sooner than usual (12:00 vs. 3:00). Here’s hoping tonight is a 60-minute trip to dreamland."

For Insomnia "I have had sleep issues since my late 20s - I’m now 54. I had been doing well with a combination of clonidine and Xanax for years - suddenly - like overnight - insomnia was back. My doctor and I agreed this was the safest med to try for the insomnia. Knowing I’m sensitive to medication, I cut the 50 mg pill into quarters and started with 1/4 tablet. Waited about an hour and was still awake, took the other 1/4 and fell asleep. Woke a few times with very dry mouth and stomach cramps late in the night. The next morning I could not wake up even after coffee and my morning Adderall. I was “hungover” and dizzy the entire next day. While it certainly made me sleep, I was unable to do much of anything the following day until about 4 pm. Needless to say, I won’t take it again."

For Insomnia "I used trazodone for sleep in the past, then I stopped using it. I started struggling with my sleep again, and I took 100 mg, and it made me feel dizzy and this weird sensation in the back of my head. It was an awful feeling, and I couldn't fall asleep at all. I will never try it again."

For Insomnia "It is VERY difficult to stop Trazodone as there are significant withdrawal symptoms: such as dizziness, stomach issues, and sleep issues. Trazodone does not have warnings about withdrawal symptoms. Under the guidance of my physician, I have had to lower the dosage so gradually. This is difficult to do with such a small round pill. I had been taking 75 mg, and this month of withdrawal has been difficult. Take Trazodone at your own risk."

For Anxiety "Last night I took my first trazodone prescribed by my doctor to take 'as needed.' I use a general sleep aid and sometimes supplement with L-Theanine, which reduces anxiety. My prescription is 50 mg, so I cut it in half just to be sure I didn't overload. An hour later it started to kick in, then things went to bad: 1. Unable to walk or lift anything, unable to undress since hands and limbs wouldn't work, too dizzy, falling; 2. Immediately broke out into HUGE sweat; heart was kicking; 3. THEN INTENSE PAIN up back, chest, arms, and legs; 4. Sudden VERY intense nausea and stomach pain, spit filled my mouth so I had to hover over the toilet bowl. Literally crawled to my bed but didn't DARE lay flat; had to stay seated and wait everything out until it finally eased. Slept like I normally do, no change in that. I will NOT be using this again. Terrified, I'd have to call an ambulance."

For Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome "I take 50 milligrams of Trazodone and experience hypotension. I am also taking Buspar. Clonazepam, Pepcid, Celexa, and today was prescribed Prednisone. Come to find out, some of these drugs can have bad side effects, especially Trazodone. I may have to change to another sleep aid, but really like the Trazodone. Pepcid is not a drug with good side effects. I think it is what is causing my hypotension. I also have been unsteady on my feet and confused. Go figure, we don't know what we are taking that could make us sicker than what we are or dead."

For Anxiety "Unfortunately, I had to experience trazodone in my life due to stress and anxiety. Can't fault or praise it. From my 3 months' experience, taking 1 dose of 50 mg at bedtime, I can concur the following: A) Helped me sleep 8 hours straight, without waking up, but I also sleep the same after stopping it. It seems it created a sleep pattern for me, which I needed badly. B) It increased my health anxiety due to often palpitations and irregular breathing. C) Started getting dizzy and being restless towards the end of my 3rd month taking it. Decided to stop taking it after completing 3 months. I've lowered the dose to 25 mg for 1 week and stopped completely after. Overall experience...never again on pills for anxiety. Rather dealing with it on my own."

For Insomnia "The first night I took 1, and I slept so good, but that is probably also because I was running on 2 hours of sleep that day. 2nd night I took 2 at 10 pm and finally fell asleep at 4 am. 3rd night I took 2 at 1 am, took another half at 5:30 am, and took the other half (total of 3 pills) at 8:30 am, finally fell asleep at 9 am. The doctor told me I wouldn't have the groggy feeling when I woke up. I was so groggy the last 2 days that I had taken it the night before. If I moved too fast, the room would spin, this was over 12 hours after taking the last pill. I called my doctor and told her to cancel the prescription because I am not taking them anymore."

For Insomnia "Absolutely horrible. Took one at 2 o'clock in the morning from my mother to help me sleep. It knocked me out, but I remember 15 minutes after I took it, I started to feel very odd, my eyes would not relax. I woke up in the morning with extremely red, bloodshot eyes and an extremely horrible, painful headache, and I felt weak and dizzy. I have been laying in bed all day, and my headache is still not gone, and it is 10:39 PM. I do not recommend this medication."
