For Chronic Pain "I just started Ultram ODT. So far, not impressed. The government needs to understand that there are people out here who need these meds. Good, honest, hardworking Americans who deserve a few hours a day without pain. Now I am in pain all the time. I don’t have insurance, so I pay for all my meds with cash. There is no way I’m going to even consider selling my much-needed meds. I know there are billions out there who are just like me. I have had to go dark to take care of myself. It was that or a bullet in the head. Nobody wants to be like this. Nobody!!!!! But our government doesn’t care."

For Chronic Pain "Tramadol wasn't even considered a narcotic until maybe 5 years ago. For me, it doesn't do anything for pain. You'd be better off taking aspirin. To actually think people take this and get relief is mind-boggling."

For Pain "I have been using tramadol for eight years for joint and muscle pain, the result of Lyme Disease which was undetected for more than a year. I have NO adverse effects. The one major problem I have had is since the medicine has now been classified as a narcotic, my doctor now hesitates to prescribe it even though I have taken the same dosage for eight years with no reduction of effectiveness or need to increase dosage."

For Chronic Pain "I have been taking Ultram/tramadol for fifteen years, four times a day. It is usually but not always effective. I often have to add the NSAID Naprosyn. I have neuropathy and other side effects from chemo and osteoarthritis also from chemo. Many joints have no cartilage. I am concerned about chemical dependency and consciously avoided codeine or morphine. The Tramadol gets me through the average pain but not the severe pain. I really wish someone would come up with an analgesic that was both effective and nonaddictive and did not diminish alertness and effectiveness."

For Chronic Pain "I have to say this med has helped me a lot. It has taken my pain from 8 to 3. I drive a semi, so I'm very limited on what I can take. Also, sitting in that seat for hours on end would make me want to hang it up. The pain was so bad that I was put on tramadol. Now, I can play with my kids right after driving for hours and just be a little stiff and sore instead of going straight to bed because of the pain. Plus, cigarettes tasted so nasty I had no problem quitting when I started."

For Chronic Pain "I have lupus, fibromyalgia, and Graves' disease, along with severe chronic depression and OCD. Tramadol does nothing to improve my quality of life. I'm 58, in pain always and cannot get a real pain killer! My life sucks. Can't enjoy anything from my grandchildren to being on our boat in the summer. I even hurt when I'm cold! I want Percocet or oxycodone..."

"My experience with Ultram is fantastic. I severely injured myself in a cycling accident in France while training for the Ironman competition. I broke both wrists, my elbows, my back, and crushed 3 vertebrae in my neck. I have taken all the hardcore medicines, which only took my pain level of 10 down to a 7, but the side effects were terrible. If I ran out early, I would get dope sick, but there was nothing to alleviate the pain level. My PCP advised me to try Ultram, and I have been using it since January, it works great."

For Chronic Pain "I use Ultram/Tramadol 50 mg for breakthrough pain usually. Normally in that capacity, they work okay. Prefer them to having to use a second opioid that makes me drowsy or more constipated. Right now, it has become my only pain med, and taking max dose of 150/8 hrs is a joke. If you have real pain long term, I find a common opinion among chronic pain sufferers that this is true."

For Chronic Pain "This drug sucks I lay in the hospital and this what they give me because dr prescribed it on a day to day I'm in pain they just see tramadol in the chart it's an instant go to whether it works or not and then they go no further to help. The whole thing is a joke to those who need help and relief.. all meds eventually need a redo to provide some relief."

For Pain "You can use Ultram to detox yourself from harder stuff like oxy or H. I used it before for withdrawal symptoms, and it worked great. In case you're ever withdrawing badly and have some, it will help."

For Back Pain "I have been on tramadol for many years for fibromyalgia back pain. I take six 50mg a day. It does, in fact, help. It makes it bearable most of the time. However, when it's at its worst, the medicine doesn't faze it. I would recommend a second prescription of something much stronger for occasional pain (maybe 10 a month if that). Doctors and lawmakers need to realize that people with pain that will never get better and will progressively get worse need relief. Unfortunately, that is going to involve addictive medication. But their addiction isn't the high. It's the addiction to function and to live a productive life. We crave these medications because we know without them our quality of life is very low."
