For Fibromyalgia "I prescribe Tramadol for patients, for some it does not work because you must have the enzyme to convert it. For the people who have the converting protein, it is a wonder medicine. For many with fibromyalgia & chronic pain, it works well and allows them to continue working & activities. For all medications, there are reasonable limits to the amount used, and precautions for some when tapering and discontinuing. With Tramadol, slowly taper and discontinue, do not stop cold turkey. I found Tramadol to be effective with 1 or 2 tablets (50 mg) a day, occasionally on a severe pain day I must take up to 200 mg in 24 hours. 4 days a week I only take 1 tab!"

For Fibromyalgia "This is the only medicine that has worked to relieve my fibromyalgia pain (burning, aching in my legs) and allows me to function again. Because of the opioid problem and my move out of state, I could not get a doctor to prescribe, although I only was able to see physician assistants. Now that I moved again and found a good doctor that I see who understands fibromyalgia, I am back and able to work. I could not work for 2 years without it. Very grateful to have it. Have not found it addictive. I only take when absolutely necessary and try going without if possible. No side effects. Even gave me back my energy."

Ultram (tramadol) for Back Pain "Good at relieving pain for a short duration (4 hours at a time) with few side effects. I found that at 200mg/day my pain was cut in half and I had increased energy and a brighter mood. I have used this medicine for 4 years now and find that it is very effective for about four months, and then effectiveness decreases. At that point, my doctor switches me to a narcotic for three to four weeks and then I can continue with the tramadol over again with a 'reset' in the effectiveness factor. The strongest negative for me is getting off the tramadol... withdrawal effects include major mood swings, insomnia, and dizziness. But overall, it is quite effective and has very few bad effects for me while taking it."

For Depression "A few years back I developed anxiety and depression. Went on the SSRI and hated it. My dr. Then gave me Tramadol for my back and shoulder pain. But I found that it works better for me for my depression and anxiety. After about 30 minutes from taking the pill I start to feel normal again and level headed."

For Depression "I love tramadol. I use it for both mood and pain. I usually take 50mg a day but some days none and some days 100mg. I like it because I take as needed. I've been addicted to opioids but this one is different. It's like a miracle drug for me."

For Fibromyalgia "I'm a disabled veteran. Diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1992 while still on active duty. Have been taking tramadol for years, 50mg now 3 times a day. I don't think I would survive without it. It allows me to do some activities with my family. It is good for relieving fibro pain. I would recommend any new patients to try it. It may change your life."

For Depression "After finding that this drug may help my treatment-resistant depression, I couldn’t wait to try it. It worked within days and not weeks. It’s the only medication that has helped my treatment-resistant depression. And I’ve done all the treatments: ECT, TMS, and Ketamine, along with every medication under the sun. Tramadol has been a blessing for me."

For Depression "I'm so happy to see you all comment here! I have been using 100 mg tramadol twice a day! I can't get up even to smoke a cigarette without it. I lay in bed for days. I have been bedridden for the last 15 years from grief and PTSD. I got things done with tramadol for the last 6 years to secure my future. I stopped alcohol! I thought it was my will to quit."

For Depression "Tramadol works for depression! I take 50mg/day and it changes my outlook. Big Pharma is too invested in anti deoressants to allow Tramadol steal the show: with a rating of 9.2/10 on drugs.co., Tramadol is the HIGHEST RATED ANTI DEPRESSANT. In low doses (I take 50mg and on occasion 100mg/day) it's not even addictive. Read the reviews!!! Tramadol helped me after my brother died. It brings more color to an otherwise dull screen. It's almost a crime to not dispense Tramadol for depression!!!"

For Back Pain "I was prescribed tramadol for back pain due to a motorcycle accident. I was in agonizing pain, and I had tried all sorts of physiotherapy, and nothing was working, so my doctor gave me tramadol. It made a massive difference in my life, I was able to function again. I took 6 x 50 mg a day, so I took 100 mg morning, afternoon, and before bed. Tramadol helped me from going insane and allowed me to function and get on with my life. After 3 years, I decided to stop the tramadol as my back pain had gotten so much better. WARNING: it was the worst 3 weeks of my life. Withdrawal symptoms were horrendous: shakes, cravings, stomach cramps, nausea, body aching all over, constant sneezing, insomnia, and I have been left with restless legs. Some people say withdrawal from this drug is manageable, NOT FOR ME. I would never take tramadol again for this reason."

For Depression "I LOVE Tramadol. I'm a stay-at-home mom, and I'm overweight, with a big chest, and my back hurts all the time. Chasing toddlers around and doing housework can be aggravating at times. I've found Tramadol to help with quite a few things: Mood, Motivation, pain, depression. I no longer take Valium and Effexor for my anxiety and depression because Tramadol helps everything in my case! It's a wonder pill for me. I usually take 50mg when I get up, 1 later on in the day, then 1 at night. Sometimes I might take 2 in the morning and then 1 later that evening. But regardless, Tramadol makes me feel normal and able to do my everyday duties without being in a slump. It's a shame it's a narcotic now because doctors are hesitant to prescribe, and you don't get refills, so you have to go every month to your doctor to get it. Hope this helps someone in pain and or depression as I've found it to be of help in both areas!"

For Depression "I take tramadol for lower pain, however, I use it mainly for depression and anxiety. It works better than any antidepressant I’ve ever taken. I’m on the 50 mg instant release tablets, and I take it up to 4 times a day. I keep my dose between 100 mg and 200 mg a day. I don’t overtake it, as tolerance builds up quickly. In reference to the people who warned that this drug is very addictive and that it shouldn’t be prescribed for depression because of that, I have to say regular antidepressants are just as bad if you quit taking them (major withdrawals, brain zaps, etc.) ...so prescribing tramadol shouldn’t be any different. This drug has done wonders for me, and I’m so happy I was able to find a doctor who would write it for me."

For Pain "I'd like to say there are many misinformed people here. Tramadol DOES help all kinds of pain. Tramadol is an opioid, it attaches to the same receptors Oxycodone does, and it's a PRODRUG—meaning it must metabolize via CYP2D6 liver enzyme to work. Once it's converted over, it turns into M1 aka o-deso (for short), which is 6-10 times more potent than Tramadol, where its real pain relief comes from. So people giving it 1 star? They are lacking proper metabolism OR they are taking a P2D6 inhibitor (some antacids, like Tagamet), grapefruit juice, among others. A 50mg Tramadol tablet in studies has SUPERIOR pain relief to 40mg codeine + 300mg Tylenol, and also showed the same pain relief as 5 to 7.5mg of Oxycodone. It works for pain..."

For Pain "I've been on tramadol for over a year now. I lost my left leg in Iraq in 2005. The V.A. is no longer writing prescriptions for narcotic painkillers as per the U.S. government. So here I sit, day after day, in pain. Thanks, V.A. I put my life on the line and this is the way you repay me, not only me but thousands of disabled veterans."

For Restless Legs Syndrome "The only thing that has given any relief to my RLS. I just wish it wasn't such a hassle to get it. Whenever I get a new doctor, I have to explain to them that it, in fact, does provide relief for my RLS. I've been on all the other meds. None have worked. Tramadol saved my life."

For Depression "I was facing several months of on and off depression since being forced to move. I had and have no one to communicate with anymore. The loneliness made me realize how empty my life is and see no purpose in anything. I lost all motivation. The greater issue was that I was starting to feel like this every day and started pondering suicide. I decided to try Tramadol since it was available to me. I took 100 mg to test it and I felt normal again (able to feel pleasure and then some). The experience was amazing and it gave my social confidence I was lacking. As the Tramadol wore off, I was able to speak in a debate group without issue (I usually get nervous and lose track) and it was noticed. I all"

For Depression "Thumbs up! I was prescribed Tramadol for abdominal pain, and in the process of taking once daily, 50mg, I realized that my energy is boosted, my mood is elevated, and I felt 10 to 15 years younger. I also observed more creativity and a heightened sense of well-being. Must be the serotonin higher levels."

For Fibromyalgia "I've got fibromyalgia, as well as osteoarthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome-C, anxiety/depression, and ulcers. I've tried EVERYTHING, but because my tummy is so sensitive, most medicines make my constipation problem worse, or upset my stomach. Plus, the 'usual' side effects of many medicines (feeling hungover, bloating, weight gain, etc.) can be just as debilitating as the condition itself. Tramadol helps with ALL of my problems without unbearable side effects! My doctor wanted me to wean off of it, so I tried other medicines again (gabapentin, Cymbalta) but my body just does not like any of them. I am quite thin, and only take 25-50 mg a day (I cut the pills in half!) and this works for me. I have not had to increase this dosage and it's been about a year."

For Depression "I've been diagnosed with depression by every doctor I've been in face-to-face contact with. I always try to hide my depression from everyone, even doctors. I would go to the ER about twice a year for anxiety attacks. The doctors in the ER would identify my depression right away even with me trying to hide it. I've taken a handful of antidepressants: Zoloft, Effexor, Wellbutrin, and Paxil. I took Zoloft for 2 years and gained 115 lbs. I got prescribed tramadol for pain, as I would stand all day. Immediately, I did not have the need for Zoloft. I was able to get a better job (still standing all day). I lost 104 lbs (saggy skin now). I take 50mg twice a day. On an empty stomach is best. Just like everyone else, tramadol has given me my life back!"

Ultram (tramadol) for Pain "I have been taking this medication for about two years. At first it completely killed the pain, and then gradually I have built a tolerance to it. The days that it works and I feel good, it is awesome, but other days I wish I had other options. I like the fact that it is non-narcotic and seems not as habit-forming."

For Depression "I suffer from MDD and have taken about 7 different antidepressants, which have been, for the most part, ineffective. On the 4 or 5 occasions I have taken tramadol, it has had noticeable effects on my mood. Tramadol doesn't make me drowsy and has powerful antidepressant effects. I feel better for days after a single dose of Tramadol, during which I feel I have more energy, less anxiety, and feel oddly clearheaded. I know this drug is not typically indicated for depression or anxiety, but it seems to crush both in one go, at least for me anyways."

Ultram (tramadol) for Chronic Pain "Tramadol works as expected. It does just enough so I can remain functional without stepping up to stronger painkillers. Tramadol only works for me if I take the doses consistently. When I first started taking Tramadol, it took about a week for the medicine to be fully effective."

For Anxiety "This drug tramadol has completely changed my life. I also take 20 mg of Lexapro. My anxiety has been so high in my recent years, and depression hits hard. I was prescribed tramadol 3 times a day, and for this past year, my anxiety went from a 10 to a 1 or 2. I'm more active, and it has saved my marriage. I recommend this drug to anyone with depression/anxiety and to drop the other psych meds."

Ultram (tramadol) for Back Pain "I have found that this medication not only relieves my chronic pain, but I am able to take it and still work. I could not do that with the standard narcotic pain relievers, which are typically prescribed. Thanks to my doctor's recommendation of this medicine, I am able to live a much less painful and much more fulfilling life."

For Anxiety "When I was prescribed Tramadol for abdominal pain, little did I know about the bonus effects. I was able to lose 20 lbs in 3 months (less appetite). My mood became so good, and I got my joy of life back. I took 50 mg daily. I felt less anxious and depressed. Mostly, I cared less about what people think of me. I started to swim and hike. My mom, who is against pills, said 'you changed so much, whatever that you do, keep doing it'. I'm a 45-year-old male."
