Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was on 2.5 dosages for several weeks. I felt a little nauseous but was losing weight and very happy. I was not waking up in the middle of the night feeling hungry. When I went to refill my next prescription, all the pharmacy had was 12.5 mg, so I agreed to try. Huge mistake. I have severe nausea, felt like I have the flu, can't stay awake, and body aches are ridiculous. I projectile vomited what looks like coffee grounds, I have awful sulfuric burps, and can't even keep down sips of water. I've missed 2 days of work thus far and have to have someone come to my house tomorrow to give me an IV because I'm too scared to drive. Not worth it at all."

It has been a lifesaver, but I have been experiencing a lot of side effects lately. I am not sure if it is due to the medicine or something else. I have been sick also, so it could be that. After 3 months, my Endo switched me to Mounjaro, stating it was stronger, but many people tolerate it better. Week one, I was sick six days. All the same symptoms I had on Ozempic, only more severe. Heart rate 15 beats higher per minute. Week two, I was sick five days. Week three, within 12 hours, all the same symptoms began, and more. The vomiting was severe (mouth and nose). The belching was rank smelling/tasting. Diarrhea. My appetite was definitely curbed. My belly sounded like a flood of water flowing through my innermost pipes but felt numb. Eyes were so dry. My watch alerted me that at night my respiration rate was dipping to 7.5. (Did not even know my watch tracked that!) My heart rate dipped to 45. My blood sugar went to 43. Felt like I was not going to breathe or control peeing. And more! Day five, I ended up in the hospital in AFIB with a high heart rate. ICU."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been on Zepbound since 8/1/24 (305 lbs, 5’6). So far, I lost 65 lbs, I’m 45 lbs away from my goal. My current dose is 10 mg. I experience side effects within 24 hours of injection administration, ranging from nausea, vomiting, belching, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, and dizziness. The side effects last about 24-36 hours. The medication definitely decreases my appetite and cravings. My doctor stopped my BP medication as I continue losing weight and my BP readings are good. At the end of the second week (Saturday), I woke up during the night with stomach pain, diarrhea, and belching. After 6 hours, I finally vomited up undigested food that had been in my stomach for over 12 hours. It looked like I had just eaten. I avoided all food until Sunday morning, eating 1/2 of a plain English muffin. I had Lipton chicken soup, a piece of Bavarian pretzel, and a few french fries (picking from my wife’s meal). After eating a small meal, I experienced bad sulfur-like burps throughout the day. So I took Pepto Bismol, and that worked like a charm! I shifted to 5 mg after 2 weeks; I stayed with each dose for around 2-3 months. I lost 10 kg by August (6 mo.). I had a freeze in weight loss for 5 weeks, then I lost 1.8 kg in 2 weeks when I took 10 mg. In terms of side effects, I experienced them during the first weeks of every upgrade in dose; like nausea and sometimes vomiting, headache, stomach pain, constipation and diarrhea, laziness, body ache, mood change; the worst was with 10 mg. As I have urticaria, I experienced an allergy at the needle site after week 10, which resolved in 3 days every time. This week I have pelvic, vaginal, and lower abdominal pain similar to period pain, although I have been menopausal for 4 years! I am happy about the results with minimal side effects."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I experienced some nausea, had severe stomach pains at times, vomiting, indigestion, and terrible sulfur burps. The appetite suppression is amazing, as I felt like a normal person not feeling hungry all the time. After my 2nd shot and even worse side effects, I told my doctor I noticed my eyes had jaundice, so he told me to stop taking it. It did lower my blood sugar levels, and I'm so disappointed my body couldn't tolerate this medication, as it would have helped me lose weight."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been using this wonderful drug for my type 2 diabetes since 2021, and before starting this medication program, my A1C was 8.7, my blood sugar levels were 300-400, I was getting diabetic cysts, and my weight was 250 lbs. My health was deteriorating, and I was told by my doctors that I was morbidly obese. Then my endocrinologist prescribed Mounjaro. At first, I vomited a lot during the week, but now I’ve been on it for 3 years, and I just hope my insurance continues to cover this medication for me because I feel like it has saved my life. For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started the 2.5 Mounjaro injection prescribed by my doctor a week ago to help lose weight. I was happy that the injection was super easy and didn’t hurt at all. The first 2 days I felt great! I had zero appetite, even on the first day, and had to force myself to eat. By the 3rd day… it was a nightmare! I had nonstop diarrhea, the kind you get with colonoscopy prep stuff! I also experienced horrible, sulfur-like belching, especially when getting up in the morning, and had extreme pain in my lower back. Then, last night, I had extremely forceful vomiting, which is crazy because I don’t really have anything in my system! I still have the horrible diarrhea 7 days later, also pretty extreme fatigue, slight heartburn, and a nauseated feeling. I am just praying this stuff gets out of my system ASAP! Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was started on Mounjaro at the end of Jan 2023. My A1C was 10, and I am 41, about 5 ft 9 in. I weighed about 350 lbs. I had no energy, had sleep apnea, hurt all the time, and could not even walk without running out of breath. I was miserable. Finally, I talked to my doctor, and she decided to try me on this. After a little struggle getting insurance to cover it and get the med in stock at my pharmacy, I got going on this new journey. About 2 months in, I started having major diarrhea and vomiting. Had to take a break for a week and then started doing my injections in my thighs instead of my belly, and that has made it a lot more bearable. I do still get diarrhea and sulfur burps for 3, sometimes 4 days after my shot, but nothing major. Now my A1C is 6, my blood glucose averages 75, and I am weighing in at 270 lbs. I can walk now without running out of breath and without being in major pain. I have made other changes, such as watching what I eat, stopping drinking soda, and started trying to walk."
