Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on the 2.5 mg dose; after five weeks (first dose at the doctor's office, then four weeks on home supply); then I switched to the 5 mg dose. Side effects for the time from the initial dose through week two of the 5 mg dose were - weight loss of 4 lbs, decreased appetite (less interest in food and felt full after eating half of my previous consumption). BS levels have remained stable at around 130. Suddenly, after two weeks on the 5 mg dose, I developed acute diarrhea. It has lasted 10 days now. This is tiring and affects what I do and where I'm willing to go. I'm not sure how long I'll endure this before talking with the doctor to discuss potential alternatives."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I used Mounjaro for 8 months. I went from 210 down to 100. It worked very well for me, almost too well. I have not taken it for over a month, and I am told I need to gain 30 pounds. My doctor took me out of work and sent me to a nutritionist and rehab. I am still losing weight even though I have stopped the medicine. My taste buds and appetite are still not back to normal. If you do take this medication, it does work, but be careful of losing too much."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Mounjaro for almost a year. Started at 194 lbs, now averaging 145-150 lbs. In the beginning, I had the usual gastro effects - upset stomach, diarrhea, and no appetite even for water. Despite eating low calories, I lost slowly, about 1 lb a week. I had no energy to work out. If I tried staying on lower doses to minimize side effects, then the appetite would come back. After a few months, the gastro effects mostly went away, and I am left with sulfur burps, fatigue, irritability, and a general meh attitude about everything. I am someone who I would say has an addictive personality, and addiction runs in my family, and this drug works on your reward systems as well, so I’m not surprised it takes away my motivation. Despite the bad, it’s the only thing that has worked for me for weight loss. Currently, I take the injection every 14 days to minimize side effects and also to keep it affordable. Doing this keeps me at the weight I’m at, which I would like to be about 10 pounds less."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am in my 4th week and haven't lost anything but my appetite. My doctor is upping my dosage to 5 mg. I hope I see some weight loss at that dosage. My blood pressure and diabetes need me to lose at least 40 pounds to be healthier. Both have been out of control for a long while."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been taking it for 10 days. First days, severe indigestion, tiredness, and virtually no appetite. Now, no indigestion, appetite returned, but not as much as before. Which is the goal, right? So far, I’ve dropped five to six pounds, most in the first few days. I weigh myself each Wednesday and Saturday. If the last two days’ weight loss turns out to be routine, I figure to drop about 2 lb. a week."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "My A1C and glucose levels are great. I am not on insulin. Side effects are rotten. Nausea, GERD, constipation/diarrhea, headache, stomach pain, decreased appetite every shot lessens over the week. Had this with Ozempic and Trulicity too, but not as severe. I have seen no weight loss benefit despite a decent diet and moderate exercise 3-5 times per week. Other side effects I’m not sure are related: feeling of lump in throat, slight face rash, occasional blurred vision, tingling in hands."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've only been on it for 5 days. I had heartburn for the first few days, but that's better now. Yesterday, the fourth day, midafternoon, I started getting very cold. I'm never cold, and it’s summer, about 78 degrees outside. I don't have air conditioning. I got so cold that I had to take a hot shower. Then I had to turn on my electric blanket and lay in bed until I warmed up. I started to go back to normal temperature after an hour. I find it difficult to eat. I'm not hungry but have drunk protein shakes. I felt a little nauseous the first day but it passed. I'm hopeful it will help me. So far, my blood sugars are about the same and haven't gone down."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started on Mounjaro 2.5 mg in January to get my A1C down, which was right at 8. I'm 61, and Metformin was horrible. I haven't had any side effects except for a decreased appetite. I don't overeat, and I really have to be really hungry to eat. I also get thirsty, but I love water, so being thirsty is no problem. At my three-month check, my A1C was 6.8, and all others were also good. Now moving up to 5 mg. I lost 18 pounds in 3 months, and I want to lose 22 more. Overall, so far, I have nothing but good things to say."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am on my fifth week today. Have very little appetite and burning in my throat and nausea. Have been constipated also. The burning in the throat is the worst. I told them and prescribed nausea pills. I took one tonight, but it's not helping. Feel like I am going to void. Took Roland. Nothing helps. I was on semaglutide 2 years ago and never had this burning in my throat. Constipated on both. Am losing weight faster after 4 weeks. Right now, I can’t even imagine increasing the dose because of this awful burning in my throat."

Tirzepatide for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "Everything was okay while I was taking the 0.5 dose in April 2025, but once I began the 7.5 mg dose, I began to notice my blood pressure increasing, and by 9:48 a.m. on the very next day after taking this dose, my BP reading was 155/101 mm Hg with a pulse of 101. I had to call an ambulance and get to the ER. I don't think Zepbound is for people who already have high blood pressure, especially since it raises your heart rate. I already had diarrhea, and I had no appetite. Not replacing electrolytes fast enough, my blood sugar had dropped dangerously low. I was given hydralazine to bring my BP down quickly, 2 Tylenol, and Ativan to stabilize me before I had a stroke or heart attack. Everybody is different, so I urge you to really think about all of the pros and cons before taking Zepbound, even if you already have sleep apnea, which I have. I will be looking for alternative ways to lose the 23 pounds and continue my exercise routine along with the DASH and Mediterranean meal plans."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on the medication for five weeks, started on 2.5 mg and just increased yesterday to 5mg. Typical side effects include hardly eating because of no appetite, but I am not losing weight at all. I lost 2 lbs in five weeks. Started at 200 lbs and in five weeks only lost 2 lbs. Any advice please?"

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been injecting this medication for more than a year now (0.5 mg) since Feb. 2024, and so far, it has been good. Considering the loss of appetite and occasional stomachaches. My A1C back in April was 8.1, which to some people is still high, but for me, it is quite a drop from 10.6 from the previous test back in Nov. of last year. However, last Saturday, I started having blurry vision, so I got a little worried and started checking reviews. I did see that this is a side effect for other people also, so I will wait if it at least gets better and goes away. If it doesn't, then I guess I have to further discuss it with my doctor."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro has been a wonderful drug intervention for me. Since January 2025, I am down over 50 lbs., my A1C is 5.7, and my cholesterol is 105. I no longer take medication for diabetes, and I am a lot healthier and feeling so much better. My only slight side effects are: nausea, dizziness, and low appetite at times. These symptoms are intermittent and not all the time."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "When I started in June 2023, my BS was 268, after one injection, it went down to 160. I am now on 12.5 mg, and my BS is 120-125. My A1C was 9, 2 months ago, it was 5.9. I have lost 100 pounds. I do feel that the 12.5 mg is not working very well as far as appetite suppression. Easy to use. I have always rotated in the stomach area, last week I did on the top of my thigh. I did not see a difference. No side effects since 5 mg, and then the side effects were not bad. I am not ready to move to 15 mg since that is the end of the line in mg's."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "It has been great! My A1C has gone down, I'm using a lot less insulin, and losing weight. I've lost weight slowly, but the other benefits have been great! The symptoms I have experienced are fatigue, loss of appetite, changes in the taste of food, constipation, and hair loss. The hardest part is the price of the medication. It has fluctuated from $25 to $365. Not knowing what I am going to pay month to month has left me in a bind. I am really frustrated because I am getting priced out of a medication that is obviously helping me but not affordable."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Love this medication and have lost 10kg in 6 weeks with a good diet and exercise. However, the side effects can be pretty intense. 2.5mg - sulfur burps, lethargy, flatulence, weight loss, decreased appetite, nausea. 5mg - sulfur burps, flatulence, abdominal distension, nausea, weight loss, chills, fever, headaches."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "In 2023, I became concerned when I gained weight, leading to me being 202 pounds. After my first Mounjaro shot, I felt appetite suppression immediately. Two days later, I made the mistake of eating greasy, cheesy pizza, leading to nausea, and I threw it up. Try to eat nutritious and less fried food on it. Also, I experienced severe cramps and diarrhea. It was just my first week, though, and I was notified that nausea and gastrointestinal issues are common for the first 1-2 weeks. It definitely gets better as your body gets used to it. As I have taken long gaps of 10-14 days in between doses, mild gastrointestinal problems still occur, but it’s definitely more manageable than before. Overall, I am very satisfied with this medication. I am much more in control of eating and don’t binge. I also lost 12 pounds in 5 weeks!"

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro worked well in the beginning. My BGL was lower, and I lost weight. After about 18 months, the control of my BGL was not as consistent. I experienced nausea and loss of appetite from the beginning, but that lessened over time. Recently, I have begun to experience severe diarrhea and belching for several days after taking a shot."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "After month two, I’ve gotten a rash at the injection site. I immediately get a headache, much like a migraine, an hour or two after the injection. On day 2, I’m very tired and battle headaches throughout the day. On days 3, 4, and 5, I am nauseated and don’t have much of an appetite. On days 6 and 7, I’m extremely hungry, and then it starts like clockwork again. I don’t notice any weight loss, if so, it’s inches off my waist, but nothing too noticeable. I was on Ozempic 2 mg for 2 years and was switched to 7.5 mg of Mounjaro after the Ozempic shortage began in June 2022. Not sure if I should switch back at this point."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "When I weighed 212 lbs at 5’1”, I was facing breast reduction surgery, A1c was over 8, I was on Metformin and on multiple antidepressants. My doctor started me on Mounjaro at increasing doses. Now, just about 8 months later, my A1c is 6, I no longer need Metformin and I currently weigh 135 lbs…I’ve lost a whopping 77 lbs! I feel great! The side effects have been… little to no appetite, nausea for two to three days after injection, constipation… all easily managed. Mounjaro has changed my life, and I would do it all over again!"

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 2.5 mg and had a terrible time controlling my glucose levels. That dosage caused my A1C to raise from 5.4 to 6.1. Doc increased my dose to 5 mg. So far, no side effects except my blood glucose is still too high. A1C down to 5.9 and no weight loss you all speak of. This week, started 7.5 mg and started back on metformin ER 500 mg at night to control high BG 150 in AM. Immediately, over the last 2 days, I understand what you mean by no appetite. However, now my BG gets too low, 75 in the afternoons if I do not eat lunch. The scale is still not my friend. This balancing act is so frustrating. The good news is my next A1C next week will probably be back to my original 5.4 as long as I stay on the metformin. I doubt my diabetes doc will raise my dosage."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro has given me the best diabetic control in over 40 years. I am taking 7.5 mg, and it has reduced my appetite, meaning I have lost a small amount of weight, about 2 lbs a month. I am currently 3 lbs above the normal weight range for my height. Even with these amazing results, I still have to struggle to get my prescription. I have to email a request every 4 weeks to my surgery, as they refuse to put it on my repeat medication list. Other surgeries in the area give their diabetic patients the medication on repeat, so I am unsure why my surgery makes life so difficult."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I am on a 2.5 mg injection. It's painless on injection. Just on my first dose, I lost my appetite within 2 days. I had gastric pains, but it was manageable. On day 3, significant reduction in changes on my belly fat was noticed. It is very costly, I paid R970 at Dischem. Medical aid doesn't cover it."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Using this medication for over a year now, and at first, I experienced nausea and an upset stomach until I found that using different parts of the body to inject into may help with that, and bam, nausea gone. I had constipation, which was resolved with 1000 mg of magnesium. In the beginning, at my max dose, I had little appetite and ate to keep from getting low blood sugars. I lost 15 lbs and gained 20 back, but I didn't originally take the medication for weight loss, it was to control my type 2, which it has, so I can’t complain about that. My A1C is better and my blood glucose most days are normal. Now I just have to lose the weight I put on to feel comfortable again, which when I discussed this with my provider, she confirmed some people lose weight and keep it off, others will hit a plateau and gain some back once they hit their max dose."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "My dose at 2.5 mg was tolerable. Minimal side effects. 5 mg more side effects with nausea, sour stomach, gas. 7.5 mg has been a disaster. Heartburn. Headaches, lethargy, tiredness, no appetite, and need to force food on myself. Low blood sugar on CGM Libre2. I can't eat enough to get myself back to 90. I keep pegging 70 because I can't eat and am sick to my stomach all the time. My sleep is interrupted, and I must lie down constantly. I feel like I want to sleep all the time. Weight has dropped from 250 to 233 lbs, but if I can't get out of bed, what's the point? I will talk to my doc about going back to 2.5 mg for the A1C control, but this drug needs work."
