For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Echoing what others have said recently, I have had nonstop issues with the new formulation of Armour Thyroid. It’s terrible! Now similar effects to the disaster NP Thyroid. Ended up quitting it and moving to supplements/over-the-counter products. Feeling way better! Common sense says something has gone terribly wrong with the API being sourced for NDT products across the board, and the FDA should really step in, do their job, and look into it!"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Around four months ago, I noticed that I had started to gain weight and experienced a few other symptoms like fatigue, slightly impaired vision, and a strange eye twitch. These symptoms led me to believe that the formulation of my thyroid replacement medication has changed. I have been taking thyroid replacement medication for 25 years since my thyroid had to be removed due to Graves' disease. Initially, I mostly took Armour medication, but when the FDA banned compounding pharmacies from manufacturing biologicals, I switched to a different medication. Unfortunately, the Armour medication I am currently taking is not working well. To make matters worse, my insurance company suddenly stopped covering the cost of my medication, which they had covered for the past 25 years. While other synthetic medications, such as Synthroid, are available, I have severe side effects when I take them, so I am not able to use them as an alternative. As someone without a thyroid, I am entirely dependent on my medication, and this sudden change has caused me significant stress and anxiety. I have already reached out to my state's Attorney General for help, but I remain unsure about what other options I have available to me."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was on Synthroid, levothyroxine, and then finally Armour Thyroid. Synthroid and levothyroxine I was on both for 6 months to 1 year. No change in my thyroid, and it also made me a bit crazy. I would have anger outbursts for no reason. Once I went on Armour Thyroid, within the first 3 months my levels were getting better. We bumped my dosage up to 120, and my levels are now perfect. I feel so much better on Armour Thyroid than I ever did on the other 2."

For Underactive Thyroid "When I was finally diagnosed, after having classic textbook hypothyroidism symptoms, I was prescribed, in varying doses Synthroid or Levoxyl. Neither did me much good and of course doctors bandaged my lingering symptoms with other drugs and excuses. It wasn't until I found out about Armour, fired a bunch of clueless doctors, treated adrenal insufficiency, and I finally found out after 50 years I could actually feel human. Synthetic medicines never once gave me that feeling like Armour has. It is the thyroid medicine of choice for me. It is effective and easily dosed, and I promptly threw my old medicines away. Doctors need to get a clue about this now. Armour is IT. It is the best one to prescribe."

For Hashimoto's disease "After years of levothyroxine, I never felt any improvement. After a little research, I requested a trial of natural thyroid. I felt improvement quickly. When I was assigned a new doctor, she refused to continue the natural thyroid and put me back on the synthetic. Needless to say, I went back to feeling blah. A new doctor was willing to work with me and natural thyroid, and the mind fog is gone! I feel 'normal' once again!"

For Hashimoto's disease "I was on Synthroid for 1 1/2 years. I gained 10 pounds and had anxiety. For the first year, I had full trust in my doctor, but later I was not feeling right. I had memory fog, anxiety, and my weight was a problem. I used to be a size 4, and now I am a size 12. That alone was depressing. I took charge and researched Hashimoto's Disease. I later told my doctor that I wanted to go on Armour and that I was done with Synthroid. He said okay and put me on 60mg because he thought we would have to adjust it. Well, here I am a year later taking 60mg and 10 pounds less without working out."

For Hashimoto's disease "I have used Nature-Throid for 15+ years very successfully, that is until the 'Great Back Order of 2017'. I scrambled and panicked and found enough at other pharmacies until it came back in early 2018. My question is: WHAT DID THEY DO TO IT? Hypothyroid symptoms returned with a vengeance, I have gained 30 lbs since last January, have lost nearly all of my eyebrows, ache all over in my joints and muscles, can't think clearly half the time and on and on and on. It's so hard to have fallen into this hole, and the sad part is no one has any answers. Now Nature-Throid is on backorder again, but who cares, it doesn't work anyway. Run, don't walk in the other direction from this defective thyroid hormone (or whatever it is)."

For Hashimoto's disease "I was on Synthroid for 18 months. Couldn't walk because of water retention, so after reading about Armour, I decided to try it. The doctor didn't want to prescribe it. However, I insisted, and he gave it to me. Wow, what a difference! Within two days all the water retention the Synthroid caused was gone, and I have been on it for years. So glad I got my life back."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was on Synthroid, Levothyroxine, etc. for three years with no improvement. I complained constantly, and two doctors told me to see a psychiatrist. I finally did, and she said, 'you're not crazy, you need real thyroid medicine!' She put me on Armour, and I'll never use the synthetic medicines again!"

For Underactive Thyroid "I have been using this product for 30 days! LOVE it!! First time in over a year that I don't have to take a nap at some point in the day. I have also naturally lost a few lbs! Which is great too since I've gained 50 in the past 5 years with no initial root cause. Find a doctor that looks at everything! Your vitamin levels, minerals, and serotonin levels on top of thyroid. I take the med in the morning with water that has Lugol's iodine drops in it. I'll keep you updated on future effects."

For Thyroid Cancer "Nature-Throid seriously changed my life! I did so terrible on Synthroid; I was gaining weight despite the fact that I was working out and eating well, losing my hair, major brain fog, headaches with aura, and joint pain. I feel awesome on Nature-Throid and am losing weight even."

For Hashimoto's disease "I have been on Armour Thyroid 60 mg for the past thirty years with good results. I split my pill in half and took it twice a day. But in the past three months, it seems that the medication is no longer what it used to be. My hair started falling, my hands grew icy cold in the evening, and I had a ringing in the ears. Indigestion, gas, and a feeling of anxiety. In the past two weeks, I fell repeatedly flat on my back with no warning. Unable to get up, my husband called the paramedics to take me to the hospital. There, they did not find anything and glossed over my report that I am hypothyroid and that I am taking medication for it. Instead, they focused on my cholesterol level of 257 and recommended Lipitor. The Armour formulation is not the same."

For Hashimoto's disease "What is going on with Armour? The last few lots I've had have caused severe anxiety and panic that I have never experienced before on NDT. My suspicion is that they have changed API suppliers and that we are suffering as a result. Please change it back. Something isn't right here."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was prescribed this medication for mild hypothyroidism. I think doctors need to be very careful when prescribing thyroid medications for people who have mild hypothyroidism. I wish I would have done my research beforehand, otherwise, I would have really reconsidered taking this medication. Anyhow, I started at a very small dose, 15 mg for about two weeks. Then increased to 30 mg for a few days until I woke up one night with heart palpitations. It was a very scary experience. I had a slew of other symptoms after that such as dry mouth, eyes, insomnia, anxiety, diarrhea, and the list goes on. My body definitely did not want/need this medicine. After about 2 1/2 months of discontinuing this medicine, the side effects are mostly gone, however, not completely. I share my story because I think people need to really do their research on medicines. I had a terrible reaction, and sometimes doctors think they are prescribing a medicine to help, when at times it can be harmful."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was taking levothyroxine 100 mcg. Had maintained a weight of 142 lb. Changed to Armour Thyroid 60 mg. After 6 months, I have found I have gained 20 lbs. I work out often, like I've always done. Heading back to the doctor this month, hoping to find answers. Feeling depressed too, not sure if it's knowing my weight gain or if this is making me feel crazy too."

For Hashimoto's disease "I went 5 miserable years with undiagnosed Hashimoto disease, for which I was told it was all in my head and prescribed Synthroid and antidepressants. Now that I'm on Armour, I have made significant improvements in my health, and I no longer have the 'brain fog' and chronic fatigue."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was first prescribed Synthroid. While my TSH levels came down to 1.9, I still had side effects, like I was permanently cold and fatigued, as well as gained 30 pounds. I changed to Armour, and my feelings of intense cold subsided, my fatigue eased off, and my weight is slowly coming down. My TSH level is down to 0.42!"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease and had my thyroid radiated so it no longer functions. I was started on Synthroid, and I felt horrible. I was eventually prescribed all the other thyroid medicines, but nothing worked well. I felt awful. I couldn't remember anything. I was exhausted and irritable all the time. Finally, a doctor prescribed me Armour, and I feel almost normal again. It can be very hard to get as doctors have to have a special license to prescribe it, but I've been persistent and will accept no other thyroid replacement medication."

For Underactive Thyroid "Doesn’t even deserve a 1. Do yourself a favor, and don’t bother with this awful “medicine,” NP Thyroid! It changed for the worse in the fall of 2019 and hasn’t been fixed since. Keeps getting recalled also. Most recently, this past month in late April 2021, it’s recalled again, this time for sub-potency! Do a search for it. You’ve been warned! Acella can’t get it right, and it’s just not a reliable choice. Go with brand-name Armour Thyroid instead (it’s literally the only one left that isn’t horrible), or get a script for 2 synthetics (Tirosint/Tirosint-SOL are the cleanest T4) along with T3 (Cytomel/liothyronine, or compounded synthetic) to balance the thyroid. OR if Naturethroid/WP ever come back on the market, try one of those."

For Underactive Thyroid "I had benign thyroid nodules, 2 docs thought I had thyroid cancer, so I had a partial thyroidectomy. No doc did a biopsy, shame. Endo shamed me for asking for Armour. I suffered badly on Synthroid and all other synthetic meds. Finally, I convinced my PCP to try me on Armour 120, it was a miracle for me. I got well. I continued on Armour 120 mgs for 28+ years, same dose, no problems. Over the last approximately 2 years, the strength of Armour 120 mgs changed, the cost skyrocketed, and it is not covered by insurance. I gained weight, had hair loss, and puffiness on my old perfect dose of Armour 120. Gyn doc prescribed Armour 180. I am much better, brain fog gone. Hair loss gone. When thyroid dose is correct, you will feel well again! The endo doc told me Armour Thyroid was made from sick pigs and not good for humans. If that were true, why do heart specialists use pig parts for heart surgery and other surgeries?"

For Hashimoto's disease "I am in a Hashimoto's support group, and there's a big red flag right now about Acella's NP Thyroid. People are reporting a return to hypo symptoms and that the pills have changed in smell, appearance, and taste. I know I was feeling great, but as of my mid-summer refill, I have gone downhill with symptoms. Acella says they haven't changed anything. Then why are the pills different (size and have flecks in appearance)? This would be the 4th NDT thyroid medication to suddenly change, sending goodness knows how many people back into sickness. Don't let this go unresearched!"

For Underactive Thyroid "I changed from Levothyroxine to Armour in the last two weeks. I feel so much better in this short amount of time. I'm not so bloated and something just didn't feel right with the Levothyroxine. I have only been taking it for two weeks, but the way I feel is good. I take 30 mg of Armour."

For Underactive Thyroid "I had horrible fatigue and muscle cramping, and was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). I have been sick for 20 years & tried various thyroid medicines over the years and they would make my hormone levels too high, but not help me at all. I took this because some doctors think this disease is caused by thyroid resistance. I was at my worst ever and very weak. Both my leg and arm muscles ached with no activity at all after minor exercise. I would be bedridden & more sore. I talked my doctor into giving me a trial of Thyroid again as my 'FREE' Thyroid was low in the range & close to abnormal. He prescribed Nature-Throid. Thank goodness. It's like a miracle for me after over two decades of trying everything under the sun and spending a small fortune. I am so afraid that my new doctor will take me off it & it has been unavailable at times at my pharmacy. My muscles don't hurt at all, I have much more energy, I am not short of breath & I feel much stronger, too. My foggy head is gone. It works absolute wonders on me."

For Underactive Thyroid "I had been on Armour Thyroid for about 15 years and always felt good. Somehow the formula must have changed when Forest Labs was bought out, although the new company denies that. I started feeling really jumpy and couldn't get my numbers right. I've been on Nature-Throid for about seven weeks. It took some time to adjust, but now I feel much better. I've read that they don't use the fillers Armour does."
