For Insomnia "Out of nowhere, I started developing insomnia. After 2 days straight of no sleep, I went to the doctor, and he prescribed me zopiclone. Worked the first 3 to 4 days, then wore off, so he prescribed me temazepam, which helped me get to sleep and stay asleep. Took it for around a week, then ran out. Didn't want to go back and get more as I knew I would develop a tolerance for the medicine and become addicted. It was then back to nights of no sleep."

For Insomnia "Unbelievably awesome when it works. I was taking Ambien for six months, and that stopped working, so I was given temazepam. The first night I took it was the best I have slept in 15 years! I actually wake up feeling refreshed, with Ambien, I don't feel refreshed, but I feel rested. My only complaint is that I can only take it two nights a week or I develop a tolerance, and it won't work at all. Those two nights are great. Also, I usually take 30 mg, where I was prescribed 15 mg, and my doctor said it's okay to take 30 if I need it."

Temazepam for Insomnia "I have been on Temazepam now for 25 years, and while it is the best sleep med, it also has consequences. It will shut down the production of brain chemicals like GABA, which cause you not to sleep. It comes with a warning not to use it for more than 12 days for a reason. It will cause you not to sleep at all, and you build up a tolerance to it and won't be effective after years of use. I suggest, like the manufacturer does, not to use it for more than several weeks as it causes other problems as well."

For Insomnia "Temazepam has been very helpful for me and my sleeping problems - interestingly, compared to diazepam, which I seem to feel hyped up by - two closely related drugs - two very different effects on me personally. I develop a tolerance very quickly and take a long time to wean off it. It works best when it isn't used for long-term treatment. Good sleep, (catch the wave - even if it is at 7:30 pm), meditation, and exercise. Therapy and support have all been important too. I would highly recommend temazepam - only for people without addictive personalities."

For Insomnia "Really good once off now and then. Take it every day and tolerance builds up and won’t last the whole night. Keep taking it and end up with eczema. It’s terrible now, gotta go see a dermatologist because I have the itchiest nipples, making me act like a meth addict with all these weird little bumps and dark spots randomly all over my body."

Temazepam for Insomnia "I started taking this nightly about 5 years ago, and I have to say I am surprised at all the positive reviews of this medication. Yes, it did help my insomnia greatly, but I feel that recently I have developed a tolerance to it and want to get off of it permanently, but am having a really hard time doing it. The sleep deprivation has been really rough. I have lost my ability to fall and stay asleep naturally, and I blame it on this medication, perhaps that's not fair, I know. My doctor doesn't seem concerned at all about my dependence, and I find very little information about withdrawing from this medication on the benzo bulletin boards. It almost seems like it's not taken seriously enough, that it's a 'mild' sleep aid and that I shouldn't be too worried about trying to get off of it. My doctor doesn't seem to think it's a big step to switch from 30 mg, my usual dose, down to the next dosage of 22.5, but it's really, really HARD. I don't want to take this anymore!!"

For Insomnia "Never touch this drug. Tolerance builds fast, and withdrawal is hard even after 3 weeks of prescribed use."

For Insomnia "By the 3rd night of use, it became ineffective. My system built up tolerance quickly. The fourth night I took 40 mg and only got 4 hours of sleep. The doctor just prescribed a month's worth. Now I must find an alternative while I wean myself off temazepam. Not easy since I wasn't getting any sleep at all before I started."
