For Osteoarthritis "My wife had a single Durolane injection in her arthritic knee 4 days ago. Immediately after the injection, she reported zero pain, and that has been the case since the injection. Believe me, if there was still pain, we would know about it!"

For Osteoarthritis "I had an injection in my knee, and 6 days later, I had to have 30 cc’s of fluid drained from my knee. It helped with some of the pain. 4 days later, in the hospital due to continued pain. More fluid drained to be sent for testing to ensure there was no infection, which was extremely painful. Note: there was no infection. Received some great pain medicine to help ride it out. It took about 4 weeks to get back to a non-painful event. NEVER AGAIN!"

For Osteoarthritis "The osteoarthritis in my hip got exponentially worse after receiving the Durolane injection. It's gotten so bad that less than a year later I'm in need of a hip replacement. My doctor said the rapid decline was due to the Durolane. I wish I never had it. I'm 37 years old and need a hip replacement. That's not right."

For Osteoarthritis "I had my first injection of Durolane after my health insurance decided it would not cover the cost of my previous injection of Monovisc (which, by the way, worked for me). I was immediately in pain and yelled out in pain (cursed actually) and was in so much pain I could hardly walk out of the office to my car (which, the whole time, crying to get to my car and on the way home). It’s been 4 days icing and having pain. I would NEVER recommend this medication to anyone. I had better movement before I got the injection and am so disappointed. I called my doctor immediately the day after, and they said it was normal (seriously not normal to me) to feel this way and to call them after the weekend. I hope it gets better, but I will fight with my insurance company to do better for me! I could only give a one but would say a negative about this medication. I should have looked it up before I trusted my doctor."

For Osteoarthritis "After being advised that I needed a full knee replacement, my arthritis specialist offered an alternative, Durolane. Three years and five injections later, I'm very happy with the results, my mobility is excellent. At $450 (multi-user discount), I'll continue as long as possible and only have surgery if and when Durolane no longer works. Highly recommend trying this prior to surgery."

For Osteoarthritis "I have extremely complex osteoarthritis in my knee. I have arthrogryposis and a rotated inward-oriented knee. My foot and ankle are fused. At 70 years old, my X-ray radiologist reported a completely disintegrated joint. Surgery is very difficult due to my diagnosis. The pain was crazy bad. I researched the scientific literature on various hyaluronic acid brands. Durolane stood out to me because it is a single injection and was reportedly more effective. It also has a lower incidence of infection. I asked my orthopedic surgeon to get some. Both of us were dubious of a positive outcome. After injection, I had quite bad pain for 4 days and had difficulty bending my knee. Now, the morning of the 5th day, I got up almost pain-free. My knee has not felt this good in 5 years. I hope this continues."

For Osteoarthritis "My partner is suffering from this Durolane injection, and our insurance is now only covering this injection. I would like to know if anyone has had good results for these injections, and if yes, how long did you start feeling like the injection was working. I’m trying to figure out if we need to push for something else at this point. This injection isn't working and is causing more pain than before this injection was given. My partner has only had 1 set of injections on both of her knees, and I’m afraid for her to get a second set of injections. I would appreciate any advice as she is in serious pain and now can’t walk without pain."

For Osteoarthritis "I tried this a few times with both of my knees. Extremely painful injections, cost me $2k each time ($1k per knee). Should have gone on vacation with that money, would have been more beneficial. They didn't work, only made more pain for 2 weeks and nauseated."

For Osteoarthritis "Had an injection of Durolane about 3 to 4 weeks ago. The initial injection itself did not hurt at all. My knee felt a little stiff and got progressively worse to the point now where I think I am going to need PT. I was shocked to see that more than half of the patients surveyed gave this the lowest rating. Now I am one of them."

For Osteoarthritis "I received Durolane in both knees almost 2 weeks ago. Most of the time, it feels like my right knee has been beaten by a sledgehammer. Both knees hurt worse than before I walked into the doctor’s office. I’m so disappointed by these painful results. I figured I’d see relief after a few days. Instead, I have pain at night and trouble sleeping. Right now, just sitting in a chair, typing this complaint, my right knee is killing me. Stairs are next to impossible, and I’d like to be able to get off a chair or a couch without looking like an invalid. Why this drug was ever approved is beyond me."

For Osteoarthritis "Like others have stated, insurance switched this year and would not approve Synvisc, which worked beautifully for me the last few years. I get an injection about every 10 months. The day of the injection felt fine, just some swelling. Day 2, I can barely walk and my knee is swollen, and it's painful. My face, neck, and chest are bright red. None of this happened with Synvisc."

For Osteoarthritis "DO NOT do Durolane unless you like extreme pain. I can’t believe I didn’t research this drug before my injection today. I totally trusted my doctor that recommended it and I know better. I have had Synvisc in my other knee years ago and no problem. I thought this would be similar. It is not. Horrible pain during the injection and could barely walk out of the office. Now about 12 hours since, I am using a walker to get to the bathroom, and that is even difficult. I can’t straighten my leg. I wish patients could post updates as to how long this pain lasts. I have tried ice, compression, elevation. Pain is horrible - I regret getting this. Will probably look for a new ortho. No one should go through this pain."

For Osteoarthritis "I got an injection of Durolane in March on my right knee for a meniscus tear, and I am much worse. I cannot walk without pain. I will never get this shot again. Very disappointed. Durolane made my knee pain worse."

For Osteoarthritis "I have had two Durolane injections in my right knee. The injections were the most painful thing I have ever experienced, and I almost passed out both times. However, after I recovered from the actual injection, they worked great, no pain in my knee for almost 6 months each time. That being said, I will not have another one as the fear of the pain of the injection is worse than the fear of the knee replacement surgery."

For Osteoarthritis "Some 3 weeks ago, I put up a review saying how bad the pain was. I made a call to have some physio, which included ultrasound - this took the pain to a whole new level. It was unlike any pain I had ever experienced. My recommendation is just let the injection do its work, do not have any physio. I have been taking Tramadol pain relievers to help manage the challenge - it is now 22 days post the injection, and the knee has 'really improved'. The way it is going, I will be able to start walking again, something that I have not done for a long, long while."

For Osteoarthritis "I have OA in my left knee, with a torn meniscus. I am unable to walk for any length of time without severe pain and discomfort. I have had multiple Cortisone shots, I think I am up to 5, but none provided any relief. I had the Durolane shot two days ago. I did experience a headache and felt a little feverish, but it did not last. Today, I am pain-free! I woke up this morning and realized that I felt zero pain, none at all! I am glad I didn't read the reviews on this injection before getting it. I hope the pain relief lasts for 6 months! I will continue getting these injections as long as I can before considering a total knee replacement. I understand that everyone's experience may be different, but I am just so thankful that it worked for me."

For Osteoarthritis "I received a shot in each knee because I have bone-on-bone knees. I have been getting Monovisc for years with no problem and was told when I got there we were using Durolane, which had the same components as Monovisc, so I said okay. Well, I could barely walk out of there holding onto my husband. I can’t drive, been in excruciating pain for 5 days now with no relief from icing, Advil, steroids, tramadol, rest, and elevation. Stay far away from this injection. I hope and pray I get relief soon."

For Osteoarthritis "Had injection in both knees. The right is doing well, able to bend without difficulty. The left is in so much pain and discomfort, cannot walk on it or bend it without pain. Going to the bathroom is discomfortable. The injection of fluid was so painful, screamed and not able to walk for a while afterwards. It is 24 hours after injection and think a replacement would have been better. The insert states no weight-bearing or walking for more than an hour at a time, definitely follow that, and ice helps to numb the pain. Finding a comfortable position is very difficult as well."

For Osteoarthritis "Had the injections in both knees on 10/4, and was barely able to walk a day or two later, it was so painful and inflamed. I was icing and living on Tylenol and ibuprofen. Called the doctor after several days, and he gave me a 5-day pack of prednisone, which took away the inflammation. It has now been 6 weeks, and I don’t feel as if they worked, my knees are worse than prior to the injections. My insurance approved Monovisc, so I have no idea why the doctor changed... worse experience with my knees ever. I would not recommend."

For Osteoarthritis "Am 48 and have bone-on-bone OA in L knee. No relief from cortisone injection. Made knee more irritated. Am on serious medication to control pain, so am hoping Durolane will replace those and delay surgery. I had it 3 days ago. *Please request a local anesthetic before you get it. GP, surgeon, and radiologist all said it wouldn’t hurt. It was put in without local anesthetic and was excruciating. Having said that, my knee is already feeling better. Back to work tomorrow, which will test it out further. Just wanted to share my story so people make sure to have an anesthetic prior to it."

For Osteoarthritis "My doctor had amazing results with his knee as well as with other patients' knees. So I thought, why not? Unfortunately, I can relate to the reviews that only give a 1.0. I’m in much more pain than I was before the shot. I pray it goes away and doesn’t last 5 years like one person shared. Unreal."

For Osteoarthritis "Had the Durolane injection 4 days ago. The injection was very painful, and within a few hours, I could not walk due to pain and had horrible nausea! Took 3 days for the pain to go back to pre-shot pain, but my stomach has not recovered. I have terrible heartburn, reflux, and diarrhea. Not fun. My doctor said it could take 4 to 6 weeks for the injection to work. Fingers crossed. I don't think I would have this one again. I thought it would be best because it was only one injection. Lesson learned!"

For Osteoarthritis "It’s been 12 hours since I’ve received the Durolane injection in my right knee. I have a torn meniscus, OA, accompanied by effusion. Since moments after the injection, the burning pain and the inability to walk is beyond belief. I’m sixty-five, with end-stage arthritis in both feet, shoulders, and right knee. This was sworn to have increased my quality of life. I’m sorry, but as the day has progressed, it has only gotten worse. I definitely am not looking forward to trying to get rest tonight. I have tried my pain medication, which, by the way, my physician changed from oxycodone to hydrocodone today (a weaker painkiller, explaining it would be better), ice packs to supposedly reduce the swelling, and heat. My advice, after this venture to improve my quality of life is...don’t get Durolane. I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Definitely regret going forward with what I’ve read to be a very new medication in the USA."

For Osteoarthritis "I had mixed feelings regarding my Durolane injections. I have bone-on-bone in one knee and some cartilage in the other knee. The doctor recommended the 'triple one-dose' injection in both knees. When he administered the injection in my bone-on-bone knee, the pain was unbearable. I literally almost fell to the ground. I had never experienced anything like that pain. When he gave it to me in the other leg, I had ZERO pain. The difference was that the needle had to push all of that thick liquid between the two bones in my one knee, whereas it went into the cartilage on the other knee. I could barely get to my car before I started sobbing. It took several days for the pain to subside, but it did. I can bend both knees a little more than before the shots. I do feel it helped, but I'm not sure if I can undergo the injection in the bad knee again in 6-8 months, knowing how much the shot hurt."
