"While Crestor reduced my cholesterol on the 10 mg dose, the side effects, including foggy thinking, personality change, no pep or enthusiasm, muscle pains, night gagging sessions, and constipation, led me to get my medication changed to Lipitor. With Lipitor, I have had no side effects worth mentioning after 3 months. If I had had fewer side effects, then I would have been happy to stay on it."

"My total cholesterol level was around 258, now at 148. This was after 2 years and 2 months. In 10 months, from 258 to 184. So Crestor worked for me. Do have some side effects: mild dizziness, some muscle pain, and occasional cramping in the legs. The effectiveness of this drug outweighs the side effects. So I'd have to give it a thumbs up despite the side effects."

"So far, so good - had to lower dosage to 5 mg since I did get some pain in my feet and tingling in the hands. I've tried Lipitor, Vytorin, and Zocor. All gave me a problem with muscle pain, some in a few months, others after a year or more."

"Have been using Crestor 20 mg now daily for 9 weeks, with a very strict diet and daily exercise regime. I previously had taken Lipitor 40 mg for 12 weeks, prior to Crestor. Have been able to trim my triglycerides from 398 to 179 in 9 weeks. I have also trimmed my body weight from 240 to 212 (target weight goal is 195 lbs at 6'4'). My legs may be tender at times, but I also stretch and run every day."

"After 15 years of being diagnosed with high cholesterol, Crestor did the following for me in three months - dosage 20 mg: Before: Total Cholesterol 379, HDL 64, LDL 286. After using Crestor: Total cholesterol 226, HDL 74, LDL 107. My doctor had never seen such positive results in his practice - ever!"

"Four weeks on Crestor 5 mg dropped my total cholesterol level 100 points. LDL 81. Now I need to work on increasing HDL through diet and exercise. No side effects at the low strength. Very pleased with the results."

"I had a stroke that likely was a series of mini-strokes. It left me with difficulty walking and with sensation on my right side. My cholesterol was 7.9, and in the hospital, they got it down to 4.3. I was told it needs to be even lower because of my hypertension and difficulty with movement that makes it hard for me to exercise and move around. Lack of exercise and a low budget means I cannot afford fresh fruits and veggies most of the time, so my diet is not as healthy as my doctor would like. One good thing, though, I eat a salad a day sans dressing. It's not much but all I can afford. I am getting oatmeal next pay and little by little trying to change the way I eat, but it is difficult. Crestor works, but the side effects worry me."

"I’ve taken both Crestor (Rosuvastatin) and Atorvastatin, and both have made my joints and muscles ache like mad. So much so, in fact, that I have trouble getting in and out of the car, and when walking downstairs, I feel like my legs could buckle at any second. Other side effects are spells of dizziness, loss of balance, and a distended stomach. My 2 teenage sons have noticed a material impact on my mobility and have said I hobble around like a 90-year-old. I’ve been on the tabs for 3 months but have had enough, and I’m stopping them today. I will report back with hopefully better news on the mobility front. Let’s just hope I don’t keel over with a heart attack in the interim. I’ve also asked my doctor about a new cholesterol-reducing injection I’ve read about, but not sure if it’s mainstream enough yet."

"After much resistance, I decided to try a statin to lower my cholesterol. I tried to give it a chance, but the stomach pains were worrisome. I even tried cutting the 5 mg dose in half, but this didn’t help. After stopping, there is a huge improvement in my stomach issues."

"Destroyed my muscles. Started in legs and spread. Stopped taking two years ago and muscle pain and weakness has not improved. Some recent studies suggest may be permanent. Statins are poison."

"Less than 7 days after beginning Crestor, I had debilitating muscle pain and weakness in my legs. 5 weeks following and treatment by a neurologist who prescribed Lyrica, I am beginning to regain strength in my legs, but I continue to have pain, especially on the right side."
