For Osteoporosis "I have only had two injections of Evenity. However, the first two days after I have it, I am in bed with flu-like symptoms and a bad headache. I had a total hip replacement in May 2023, and my surgeon said my bones were very bad, even though I have been on Prolia for 10 years. That's why they want me to try Evenity. I am having severe groin pain and hip pain, along with my hair falling out really bad. I will continue for a few more months to see if some of these conditions stop."

For Osteoporosis "I have been on Evenity for 7 months, and thankfully, I have had minimal reactions. The only side effect I have noticed is some soreness in my arms after the injections. Additionally, I have experienced hair loss, which I believe is linked to this medication. Considering my conditions of RA and osteoporosis, I am overall satisfied with the treatment. I will have to wait until October 2023 for the results of my Dexa scan."

For Osteoporosis "I was having trouble getting bones stronger for surgery. I used Evenity shots for 12 months. The doctor doing the surgery said that my bones got so much stronger that it was hard as stone. He was well pleased with Evenity."

For Osteoporosis "Last August, I completed 12 months of Evenity treatment. I had very mild side effects only on the day after each series of shots, a mild headache and a little tired, injection sites (each arm) sore and tender for a week. But completely tolerable. After 2 spinal compression fractures and 3 years of Reclast, I welcomed each Evenity shot! No new fractures, so that’s worth celebrating! My endo also got me into a program that paid for the drug copays."

For Osteoporosis "Heading toward my tenth Evenity injection this month (end of Oct. '22). No problems. An easy injection process by my Dr. Had a little joint pain at the outset, but nothing of any consequence. Blood tests have been fine. Vit D and calcium levels normal. Perhaps a little tiredness at times could be attributed to the drug. I will see with my bone density score at the end of the process if it was all worth it. I hope so."

For Osteoporosis "The 1st month I took it, I had the flu right after and thought I was doomed. I am in the third month and no reactions at all. And my body is highly sensitive to most medication. Keeping my fingers crossed, I can get through the full year and make sure I take my calcium supplements."

For Osteoporosis "I just had my 8th injection. The injection pain for me is very mild. I have a long history of rheumatoid arthritis. I feel like after being on Evenity, my pain has increased. I have more pain in my groin, in my right leg and ankle, in my hip, and sacral area. My pelvic and sacral areas were both fractured about 13 months ago. I had been on steroids for the RA for many years, off and on. I do believe that is what caused the osteoporosis and a spontaneous fracture in my left leg. I am hoping all the pain subsides a bit when I finish the Evenity. I am going to do the 12 months."

For Osteoporosis "I have been taking Evenity for around 11 months. Sometimes, the injection sites hurt after getting a dose the next day. I chose my arms because my hip area hurt quite a bit after getting the doses. I get my shots at an infusion office where I see the same two RNs. I am hoping my bones have significantly improved. Then, it's on to Prolia for several years, but that is only once every 6 months, NOT once a month. I was unable to take oral medication because of stomach issues. Osteoporosis runs in my family. The itching is pretty unpleasant but not so bad that I would quit. I am in month 11 out of 12. Looking forward to being done."

For Osteoporosis "I just had my first shot the first week of August (three weeks ago.) I have a continual headache which affects my affect. When I hurt, I feel annoyed a lot. My jaw also hurts and I thought that maybe I needed to see a chiropractor. I have been adjusted and I still hurt. I am also having involuntary toe and ankle cramps that electrolytes do not help. I am drinking almond milk by the quart to make sure the cramps are not from low calcium. Right now, I do not like this medicine at all."

For Osteoporosis "I have had three monthly injections of Evenity with very few side effects. I have had a slight headache but not severe. Also, joint discomfort with the last 2 injections. I am scheduled for the full year of treatment."

For Osteoporosis "Just finished 12 months of injections. At age 56, Lumbar T-score was -3.1 and now is -1.9! Hip T-score improved, but not as much... -2.9 and now -2.5. Only side effect was 1-2 soreness at the injection site. I'm pleased with the result and will see what ongoing maintenance will be in a few weeks."

For Osteoporosis "I’ve had two injections and the side effects have been bad. Really bad joint pain in hips, shoulders, hands. My doctor put me on Mobic and OsteoEase to help alleviate the pain, so I could move around. I have never had side effects from any injection before, so this has really thrown me."

For Osteoporosis "I have had five injections of Evenity—slight tenderness at the injection site for a day or two after injections—no big deal. I have not noticed any serious side effects. I got on this site to see if anyone has experienced new hair growth. My hair had been falling out for five years, probably due to high doses of prednisone. I have noticed in the last few months huge hair growth! I wondered if new bone growth could also result in new hair growth. After reading more, it seems that, if anything, Evenity might cause some hair loss! Maybe my new hair growth is that I have been able to significantly reduce my prednisone use because I got on a drug that is helping with my RA. I don’t know if it has helped my bones because I haven’t taken another bone density test."

For Osteoporosis "I just had my third set of injections of Evenity. I’ve been feeling alright (no side effects) until the third set. I’m now feeling slight joint pain. I notice it mostly in my left shoulder and my left wrist. It’s not terribly bad…it’s just there. I’m grateful for this medication because my osteoporosis was very bad."

For Osteoporosis "I have just finished my last injections (12 months). I had very minor side effects, mostly site pain which was no worse than a yearly flu shot! I did get headaches which were relieved by Tylenol, but not awful and very tolerable! The first few shots I had mild nausea in the morning, but very little in later shots! I had absolutely no muscle aches or pain throughout all the shots. About 5 days after the shots, any mild side effects I had went totally away. I was terrified to start these shots after reading some of the reviews, but I am so glad I didn’t listen to them and followed through on all the shots! I have severe osteoporosis and after these shots my bone density has really improved! I am scheduled for a yearly Reclast infusion in a month which will assure that I don’t lose the bone I have gained over the past year."

For Osteoporosis "I started Evenity in June 2023 and I was 135 lbs. I was very pleased with Evenity because it didn't make me sick like Boniva did. I just got my 9th dose this morning but have been experiencing unexplained weight loss. After several tests, I now weigh 113.6 lbs. My BMI is only 16.8. I will have a DEXA scan next month to see if there has been any improvement. I am on a wait-and-see basis to determine if I can tolerate my next 3 injections with so much weight loss. The only other side effects noted were pain at the injection sites and a hard lump at the injection sites for about 3 days each time."

For Osteoporosis "I have been on Evenity since Dec 2023. Was good at first, then the 3rd injection had severe pain down my arm, upper chest, and shoulders. Lasted for a week. After that, not too many side effects, but did gain weight in my stomach and abdomen. Get a headache the next day after injections. Just had my 10th injection, and the pain in my arms, shoulders, and wrists came back, lasted for a week again. Has numerous fractures in my back, so I had to try this. Back feels much stronger though."

For Osteoporosis "My injections started last month. First 3 days, I felt fine. Day 4, I felt very achy, flu-like symptoms, extreme fatigue; for a week, I wondered why I agreed to this treatment. I informed my endocrinologist. At Dr. suggestion, 2nd dose this month, I drank 2 eight oz glasses of water before injections. This is day 5; I still feel great. I'm fatigued, though not as intense; it might be from other factors, such as stress or just getting older. I’d tried Fosamax; it bothered my tummy. I’ve never tried Prolia, but its side effects sounded scary. I’m committed to 10 more Evenity injections, with hopes of success. I walk (sometimes wearing a weighted vest 10#), lift weights daily, and use the gym's Power Plate, which supposedly increases bone mass. I do yoga. My diet is calcium-rich, and I use calcium/D3/K2 supplements. I get outside daily, even if it's chilly out. I avoid caffeine and alcohol."

For Osteoporosis "I really didn't want to be on this drug; however, my last bone density scan (at age 70) showed significant adverse changes compared to the prior two years (-3.2 spine). This was despite taking Vitamin D, Calcium, doing Pilates, tennis, yogalates. I felt I had no choice but to go forward. I have now completed 12 months of injections (2 shots every 4 weeks). The first month or two, I felt tired and headachey the day of and the morning after the injections. However, for the most part, I am relieved to say that I had no side effects. I don't know my bone density yet as I'm not scheduled for another scan until next year. I had the injections in my stomach because I have a bit of fat there. The shots are somewhat painful, but taking them in the fat area of my stomach didn't cause too much pain. My doctor now wants me to start Reclast. He believes my bone density is improved but may regress without continued treatment. Cross fingers with Reclast."

For Osteoporosis "Because of being diagnosed with osteoporosis due to menopause, it was suggested I try this. Not sure if I am happy with it or not. So far, I have had only 2 injections, so only 10 more to go. I had my choice of where I wanted the shots and chose behind my upper arm. I had no problem with the shot being administered. Did not really hurt and had no swelling or inflammation. I did have a slight headache, though. Same thing when I had the second shot, except this time I just felt like I was getting the flu. One thing I did notice since getting these shots, though, was that I had a constant throbbing pain in my legs, especially my right one. I thought I had MS or something and did not attribute it to the shot. There are days I can hardly walk, and I have a constant limp. I have tried natural oils and over-the-counter meds, but they only help for a short while. The pain is so uncomfortable that I could cry! I am not a crier, though. I am getting depressed about this and am not sure what to do."

For Osteoporosis "I have so far completed 6 months of Evenity injections. So I am halfway through my course. So far I have had very few problems, just a bit of joint pain and slight nausea. I am excited to see the results of bone scan at the end of this treatment."

For Osteoporosis "I began Evenity injections in September. In October, I developed a UTI, LPR - a type of reflux, and painful sores on my tongue. During the last 8 months, I have had 4 UTIs, the LPR is being mildly managed, and after going to an oral surgeon, I learned that the tongue sores are lingual tonsils, which are part of the lymphatic system, and these eruptions indicate a possible viral or bacterial infection - since October. The lymph nodes in my neck enlarged. Two weeks ago, my GP did a complete CBC, and the results showed a viral or bacterial infection. Lymph nodes still swollen, and I developed a yeast infection. Yesterday, I had my 8th Evenity injection. About 10 hours later, my tongue has erupted in many angry blisters. Last month, I decided to quit the shots. My doctor says Evenity does not even kick in until after the 6th injection! I chose to continue, but now this. I'm looking for a doctor who can get to the bottom of this. I've had cancer 2 times, and I do worry that this infection could lead to something else."

For Osteoporosis "I will be getting my fifth injection in a week. I’ve had some joint ache, but not enough to warrant stopping these injections. I’ve been actually doing all right and feeling pretty good. I haven’t had a repeat bone density test yet, so I can’t really comment on whether or not this is working. I can only hope it is. I have a bit of local soreness after the injection for about a day, and then it’s gone. My neurosurgeon recommended this as a way to help my very bad bone situation, and so I’m pleased that there’s at least (hopefully) a fix to it."

For Osteoporosis "I am 56 years old and post-menopausal - no hormone therapy of any kind. Symptoms of menopause were and are mild. I am very lucky. I take Veozah for the hot flashes only. First bone scan in June of 2024 showed signs of bone loss. I am thin and have always been very healthy. My doctor told me that I was a good candidate for Evenity. Use discount card. It did take a couple of months to get approved by my insurance. I started the monthly injection in August. Side effects include slight discomfort (two shots in the abdomen) at the injection site and a mild rash (raised and itchy) on my torso and back that lasts for a couple of weeks after the shots. It is bothersome but tolerable. I hope I can get through the series of 12 shots without anything further. Everyone is different, I don't like to take medication but understand sometimes we have to, but the side effects can be a big deterrent. I hope I don't have any additional side effects going forward. I will take Prolia to sustain the bone growth."

For Osteoporosis "In the beginning I had no side effects. Then, I developed pain in my thighs and arms, knees and hands. The last 4 months I had severe headaches and very strong whole body pain. This felt like my nerve endings were firing at the same time. Each month the pain increased to the point where I could not sleep for several days. I stopped taking it 3 months ago and still have episodes once in awhile. I told my doctor but he totally dismissed it. I was told by my doctor that if I stopped taking it, my bones would revert back to the previous state. I was not told that until I stopped the shots. These are just some of my side effects. There were more."
