For Anesthesia "I had my second colonoscopy yesterday and felt absolutely fine prior to undergoing sedation. Propofol was used intravenously. Upon awakening in the recovery room, I was drooling heavily into my hair and choking on my own saliva. My throat was burning, swallowing was difficult, and I barely had a voice due to hoarseness. I had extreme sinus congestion with clear discharge. After getting home, I had a fever of 101.5. Writing this the next day, my throat is still painful and bright red, and my throat glands are swollen/tender. I took a Covid test to rule that out as the new variety indicates symptoms of a 'razor blade throat.' It was negative. I thought about going to have a rapid Strep test done but haven't been around many people to have been exposed in the last few weeks. These symptoms all appear to be related to the sedation. Note: I did have a nasal cannula inserted but can't imagine that air in my nose for such a short time would have caused these rotten symptoms."

For Anesthesia "Second time having propofol. First time for an endoscopy - no issues. Second time was for a colonoscopy - had a sore throat develop a few hours after the procedure. From reading other comments, sounds like this could be a side effect."
For Anesthesia "I had a colonoscopy 2 days ago. I get one every 5 years, and this was my third. I was given propofol. I woke up in recovery with a flaming sore throat and coughing nonstop. I still felt the effects of the meds. I got right into bed and could not get warm. I had blankets and a heating pad to get warm. I was groggy all day and the next. It was NOT a good experience like the other two. I would not take propofol again. I still have a cough and cold-like symptoms."
